    Was wanting to actually fold down the seats in a w203 without this option. I figured out the latches on the back of the rear seat (with a vertical flat bladed screw driver going to the r side of the hole in the golden metal and levering the black metal behind this orifice to the left ) but was not sure what was stopping the seats folding forward. Was looking for rear door trim removal or other insights. Any help appreciated.

      The first part of the video is just me connecting the red wire from the Video jack into the reverse camera trigger (brown) wire coming from the CANBUS decoder. I might have overcomplicated it but you can also use a simple wire-tap instead of the JST connector
      Первая часть видео - это просто я подключаю красный провод от видеоразъема к триггеру обратной камеры (коричневый), идущему от декодера CANBUS. Возможно, я слишком усложнил это, но вы также можете использовать простой проводной кран вместо разъема JST

    • @AutosNGizmos
      @AutosNGizmos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lee, the red wire is connected to the 12v input of the reverse camera which in turn, is connected to the 12v reverse camera trigger on the headunit. There is another video in my channel that talks about the wiring method I used in this video and you can watch that video in this link: th-cam.com/video/HmihvtH36Yw/w-d-xo.html

    What is the brand and P/N of the camera? I bought one and the lens was not the right size. Seems all are the same on the market and do not fit my 2005 C230. The one in this video is the correct one.

    • @AutosNGizmos
      @AutosNGizmos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, I bought this camera from ebay (You can use my affiliate link: ebay.us/iw8OiI). When placing the order, you have to specify the shape of the number plate light cover (I think there are 3-4 options) so you need to have a look at your existing number plate light cover and determine which of the option will fit your car.

    Did you manage to install the usb-cables nicer for the new android unit? You were talking about it in the installation video. Interested of doing this by myself but not sure if i should sacrifice the wood trim or use for example the coin holder to fit some usb-female connectors there

    • @AutosNGizmos
      @AutosNGizmos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi F.Hamer, unfortunately I haven’t get to that yet because I’m currently working on the Dashcam installation right now. But I agree with you and come to think of it, I also don’t want to sacrifice the wood trim just to add the USB port. It’s probably also not a good spot for it in case there are any coffee spillage. Worst case, I might just get an extended USB cable and route it all the way to the centre armrest. I will continue searching for a good USB port and I’ll let you know what I come up with. I hope you also let me know what you decide to do.
      Cheers!

      @@AutosNGizmos i think i'll use the coin holder next to the cup holder compartment or maybe the arm rest. I like to be able to hide mods and keep things lookin (relatively) stock. Also one thing i've had in my mind is modifying 12v wireless charging to the arm rest bottom. But then again this doesn't have that much usage if i anyway have to have wired android auto connection...

    • @coolcat23
      @coolcat23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @F.Hamer Two good places for USB ports are: 1. Armrest (replace the old CTEL phone cable, if there is one) and 2. glove box. I replaced the AUX connector in the glove box with a USB port. I had to modify the female USB jack so that it fit into the tight space to the left of the glove box but am very happy with the result.

    Did you put the red wire from the camera voltage on the reverse light to get 12 volt. Because in the video you only put ground on the car but Not the 12 volt on the red wire from the camera.
    And Do you know if it is necessary to Connect the red wire from the yellow chinch to 12 volt if you have an radio from asure

    • @AutosNGizmos
      @AutosNGizmos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jonas, thanks for watching this video, I really appreciate it.
      To answer your question, I didn’t use the reverse light from the car to get 12v. I got it from the Canbus decoder, since it also needs to send power to the headunit as a signal to tell it to show the reverse camera video feed. The red wires on either side of the video cable are actually connected so if one end is connected to 12v, the other end would be too. This is how I sent 12v power to the reverse camera. I chose to do it this way because it might trigger canbus errors. I actually another video how to wire a reverse camera. You can watch it here 👉th-cam.com/video/HmihvtH36Yw/w-d-xo.html
      I’m not familiar with the headunit from asure, but one thing I would say is that if your headunit already switches to the reverse camera video feed when you put your car in reverse, then you can probably get the 12v directly from the headunit to power up the reverse camera (assuming you know which wire to use). If you don’t, then your other option is to tap into the reverse light.
      If you find this video helpful, please don’t forget to give this video a like or subscribe to the channel.
      Cheers 😊

    This all wired up and worked aside from the display on the monitor.
    Its showing grey and very blurry. Any idea why that could be?

    • @AutosNGizmos
      @AutosNGizmos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi zabiddin, if it’s grey and blurry, it sounds like the camera is out of focus. Unfortunately I am not aware how to adjust the camera focus so you might need to reach out to the seller separately. It might be a defective product.
      However if this was me, I’d find a way to connect this camera directly to a 12v power source and output the video to a monitor (i.e. TV). WARNING - please be careful when performing this test as you could destroy the reverse camera if you plugged it incorrectly.
      If the video quality is also poor (grey and blurry) from the manual connection test, then it is definitely a camera issue. If the video quality is clear, there might be some interference with the wiring in the car. Start by checking it is receiving enough voltage using a multimeter.
      I hope this information is helpful.

      Hi,
      Sorry I forgot to update this thread.
      I tried this with 3 different cameras and had the same issue.
      I resolved this by looking at the display format in the Factory Settings. It was set to AHD or something similar. I changed it to NTSC/PAL and it worked fine!
      Additional query though. Any idea on best placement? The reversing guide lines are off centre. Is their any setting within the Factory Setting that can correct this?

    • @neilsjmcmahon
      @neilsjmcmahon ปีที่แล้ว

      It's difficult. Not cutting it destroying anything at all really depends on your vehicle having a bootlid that already has scope for a camera. The W203 does not (at least not in UK models)

    Does the camera still operate fine wiring it this way? im just worried pulling higher current through the canbus decoder will result in it overheating overtime and to stop working

    • @AutosNGizmos
      @AutosNGizmos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi DeelitefulJestr, Yes the system seems to be stable even after almost 2 years of use. Unique thing about the reverse camera is that you only use it for a very short amount of time and the camera doesn’t seem to demand an excessive amount of current that the canbus decoder can’t provide.

    • @AutosNGizmos
      @AutosNGizmos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Eajaz, In my case, I used the brown wire from the CANBUS decoder because when i tested it, it produced 12v when I put the car in reverse.
      I suggest you test it the same way I did to confirm which wire it is you need to tap into because the wire might not be brown on your CANBUS decoder. You will need a multi-tester for this before you can test.
