Etta was born in 1938, so she was 15 years younger than my mom. From what I've heard of her life, it was a pretty hard one, with some heavy drug problems along the way. Once she became a professional singer, she sounded pretty much like this, all the time. My dad, especially loved her voice, and I used to listen to her all the time, on the radio. She passed away in 2012. She was loved by many. Thank you VERY much for reacting to this. Loved it! 😀
Etta James was an American singer who performed in various genres, including blues, R&B, soul, rock & roll, jazz & gospel in the 50's-80's. She had an amazing powerful voice. She had so many hits such as "The Wallflower", "Tell Mama", "Something's Got A Hold On Me", "If I Can't Have You", "Spoonful", "All I Could Do Was Cry", "My Dearest Darling", "I Just Want to Make Love to You", "A Sunday Kind of Love", "Fool That I Am", "Don't Cry Baby", "Losers Weepers", "I Found A Love" etc. In 1961, Etta James released what was to become her signature song, "At Last".
My granddaughter loves to dance with her daddy (my son) to Etta James' song "At Last". She used to stand on his feet but she's tall enough now to stand on the floor. Too beautiful!
Etta is in my top 10 fav female vocalists of all time: 1 Ella Fitzgerald 2 Amy Lee 3 Roberta Flack 4 Etta James 5 Billie Holliday 6 Ann Wilson 7 Norah Jones 8 Amanda Marshall 9 KD Lang 10 Doris Day
@@reallymysterious4520 Most of these are from further back in time than probably most people here would know, but there are a few new/newer ones, as well (not in any special favorite OR date order...just as they came to mind). For instance, my first automatic pick, was... 1. Lucy Thomas (plus her mom and her sister sing with her sometimes...just fabulous) 2. Barbra Streisand 3. Petula Clark 4. Helen Reddy 5. Anne Murray 6. Amy Grant 7. Karen Carpenter 8. Joan Baez 9. Mariah Carey 10. Nancy Sinatra There are plenty more where those came from, but these were the first 10 that popped out of my 74-year-old brain. 😀
Check out At Last by Etta. I looked but didn't see if you reacted to Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart live in Amsterdam cover this song, but you must. To me she is the closest to Etta.
I don't watch every video you post. In some cases, I may not particularly like the song. I think that's a reasonable observation. BUT.... I do really enjoy you and your cousin's content. I hope your channel continues to grow and I will remain and enjoy being a subscriber. You seem like good guys and good people deserve to be rewarded.

@@setonhillstudios You're welcome. You guys just give off a positive vibe that frankly, takes me away from some of the shit going on in my life. Some of the benefits of your videos to other people may be surprising and not readily apparent even to you. Cheers.
Great reaction to one of the very best female singers in the world ever👍👍 Now, I can't leave this comments section without telling you something, particularly now that you relatively recently have started reacting to Angelina Jordan from Norway. Etta is one of Angelina's absolute idols, only surpassed by Billie Holiday, and for Angelina's 12th birthday, she received a new Neuman mic, I believe it was a TLM 102. And what was the very first song she performed with that mic ?? Yup, THIS song. At age 12. Though it says 13 in the title, which is wrong. Many people may think "NAH..... what could a 12 year old POSSIBLY do with this song...." I implore you to check it out, because you will all be totally blown off your feet. IF you do, feel free to let me know what you think 🙂 And also check out more of her roughly 200 performances out on YT. Jazz is her wheel house, but she has performed in 8 different genres so far. She started singing at 18 months old (there is a video showing her sing Whitney Houston with a mic at that age), and she won Norway's Got Talent at age 8. On America's Got Talent The Champions at age 13 she immediately got the golden buzzer for her rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody". Queen themselves were so impressed that they gave her the copyright to the cover, and they pinned her performance on their social media, saying "WOW, what a rendition! ". -Sorry for intruding like this on an Etta James reaction, but Angelina is well on her way, she is 18 now, to reach the same level as Etta and possibly even surpass her. Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
I am new to the channel so please forgive me if you have already reacted to the two I am going to suggest. If you like her performance you will like Yebba - My Mind. Also if you like this soulfulness, check out Susan Tedeschi - It Hurts So Bad. In the meantime, I am going through your reactions. I really enjoyed this one!
I see you have done 2 reactions to this song. I think you need to listen to Angela Jordan's version. She sang this to use her new mic given to her on her 12th birthday

Etta's signature song is called "At Last' from 1960. Gorgeous ballad.
That is one of the all time greatest vocal performances - male or female
May have heard that one, just not known it was her!
Yes! I still love that song! Also, "Something's Got a Hold on Me!"

Such an awesome voice! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the info as always Linda!
Etta Jams is great, her original recording of "At Last" I consider the most perfect joining of song and singing.
Awesome, thanks for the suggestion!
Etta's an absolute legend! As many others have said, At Last.
I’ll add it to the list! Thanks so much! I absolutely loved this performance! 🔥

You got it exactly correct... Music runs through her like blood runs through us poor humans.
'Drown in my own Tears" From the same live show I think may even be better. You should definitely check it out and react.
Oh sweet! Appreciate the suggestion. She absolutely blew my mind so I’m ready to hear more! Thanks for swinging by!
Late but this concert I believe was after the hell she went through in the ward to get help for drugs and alcohol so she put alot of emotion in this
Loved the emotion she put into this performance! Thanks for hanging out! 😄
You must watch her sing "At Last'
You won't hear a song by Etta that isn't as good as this one.. Listen to this entire show. She is great on a live performance.
Thanks so much! I definitely have to check out more from her! Absolutely amazing singer and performer!

Good choices, I'd have to have Karen Carpenter and Aretha Franklin in there somewhere.

If you haven't seen Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa perform this song live in Amsterdam, IT IS A MUST SEE!
It’s on the channel!! Absolutely loved it! ❤️
I am sure you would also like her song 'Drown in my own Tears" she performed at the same live show. It was excellent.
Awesome, thanks for the recommendation!

THERE IS SOMETHING ON YOUR MIND - BB KING & ETTA JAMES
You have to see Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa do this song! Etta is great but Beth is unbelievable.
I bet that’s fantastic!
