that was so incredibly powerful and sad A beautiful woman and I felt every emotion and pain in her voice. One of the best female singers one could ever hear ❤😢😢

Beth Hart slays the vocals! Great clip. Etta James was a national treasure, how lucky we old boomers were to have witnessed this great music

You are right, Etta does not perform this song, she tells us her story... Your body knows before your mind The feelings she expresses. She tears her guts out with such power...I love this performance I come back to it often...with the version of The Faces with Keith Richards...
Really love Beth's vocals and feelings and Joe Bonamassa's guitar Playing!
    Thanks for that moment !

*Etta.* LEGEND 🔥 Emotion just pours out of her.
And Beth kills it as well - definitely inspired by Etta, but makes it her own. Joe's brilliant as always.
Great reaction (other than scolding the puppy 😕... Nala doesn't want to go to her bed. Nala wants to *play with Rory!* 😄) and excellent request 👍

Amazing. Emotion-filled joy. Love Beth's bit of raspiness too.

Christine Perfect (Mcvie) did a version with a band called Chicken Shack back in the Late 60s before she joined Fleetwood Mac

Sweet, sweet, blues. Beth's vocal passion and Joe's passionate playing are such a complimentary perfect match. Great back up band also. RIP Mr. Rhoades.

She was sooo talented! Because I'm (& others) are familiar w/her life story, it hurts me & bring tears to my eyes always every time I hear her sing this song because she was so mistreated! She was such a gifted singer!!!😢😢😢😒😒

Well....this was just perfect...Etta knows her stuff for sure...you just know she's experienced that heartache - those emotions...no one can sing like that without knowing it firsthand. And Beth comes as close as maybe anyone else to sing with the type of emotion and tone needed for this song. Both Etta and Beth are killer vocalists and performers. You are so right, Rory, if you can't feel this song, don't even try to do it. Joe is a genius guitarist...no doubt about that...been on overload listening to his vast discography. I love seeing him perform live...the emotion just oozes from his guitar. Another great reaction, Rory...thanks. (Nala is like a pre-teenager...she thinks she can get away with anything. Just remember Rory - "patience is a virtue" 😇...only kidding...whoever thought of that phrase never had a child or a puppy.)

FWIW, the Zappa multi instrumentalist and stud vocalist, Robert Martin was the music director and arranger for Etta James.

I love this. On an aside, I can't believe that out of over two thousand views, there are only less than two hundred likes on this! People suck!
You hit the play but can't bring yourself to hit the thumb!!?

Rory, you may be thinking of Chicken Shack who had a chart hit with this in 1968, rather than Fleetwood Mac, although it was Christine Perfect (McVie) on vocals. Stan Webb still performs it and their version was always my favourite until that magic moment when I heard Beth Harts' perfect interpretation. I've not been the same since!!

Cool. I thought you would like these, and I knew you would love Joe's guitar solo. It's as epic as the singers singing. I've got a bunch of these I will send you. I've gotta space them out though - maybe one request per month or so. I've got some cool ones in mind that I don't think any of your viewers have on their radars.

Okay, I’ll go with the unpopular opinion. Etta James may have a powerful and emotional voice, but that performance left a lot to be desired. Absolutely no comparison between these two performances. Beth Hart is clearly the superior vocalist on these tracks. Now I realize that the Etta fans and purists won’t like what I said, but I’ll still stand by my opinion. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
