For I Put A Spell On You - Angelina was 9 years old - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. Not only did Angelina get the golden buzzer from judge Heidi Klum, but she also received huge praise from the remaining members of the legendary Queen. Queen were delighted with Angelina's arrengement and shared it on Twitter with the words "WOW, what a rendition" (three years later they repeated their praise on TT in March 27th 2023 with the words "absolutely killed it".) Thank you guys she had just turned 9yrs old here this is her own arrangement after listening to Screaming J Hawkins original , and it was her own choice no one choses her songs, she is self taught her voice is so unique her family and music teachers agree not to mess with what she was doing naturally she may of had guidance for vocal heath but she is so advanced she has worked everything out for herself . No, she does understand what she’s singing. On both of the songs you heard today, Angelina did the arrangement herself. She inhabits whatever genre she’s singing, and she makes you understand the lyrics in a way you didn’t before-like Bohemian Rhapsody.
Angelina is easily the best popular singer I’ve ever heard, and I’ve been listening to music since the 50’s. No gimmicks, no auto tune, no processing-a voice for the ages, and the musical wisdom that seems impossible, but is there is on dozens and dozens of her performances from age 7 to now at 18.

You’ve chosen a level of physical love that a nine year old could not have experienced yet-and used that to say she doesn’t understand what she’s singing. I think that’s completely wrong. Do you reject her interpretation of If I Were a Boy? How about Bohemian Rhapsody? She’s obviously not experienced any of those those feelings firsthand. My point is that there are many reactors and commenters who believe that someone must have personally experienced an attitude or feeling to sing about it legitimately. That’s completely untrue, and Angelina is a great example, but there are countless other singers who can as well.

Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became one of the youngest ever vocalists to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest jazz recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. She is now 18, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and originals. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may makes many people emotional. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even stated at 8 years old that she would be donating her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing a special bond.

When I learned of Angelina Jordan, 4.5 years ago, my brain would ache while watching her videos. THAT voice coming from such a young girl just didn't make sense, but the quality of her singing was so good, I had to watch every video I could find. It is all about telling the story of the song for Angelina and conveying the emotions. Her intense love of music allows her magic to happen.
*Why Angelina always performs barefoot*
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina never learned the orphan's name but called her Princess. The orphan girl replied, "princesses live in castles, we live in ruins". Angelina titled her song about this story, "Princess of Ruins".
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Great reaction! You know what you are talking about, being singers yourself. Have a listen to other songs of Angelina’s too. It’s not only her technique, she uses her technique to create emotions in the listener like no other! Many people get goosebumps and tears when listening to her, even after having heard the same song many times. I’m one of them. It eases any trouble and lifts my mood: “Fly me to the moon” :) I’d like more people to experience this.
She was actually 9 in the second video and the song was arranged by her. The musicians called her 'The Boss' because she had a very clear idea of what she wanted to do. 😎

I have been hooked on Angelina's music for over 6 years now & I have listened to her every day since then. I've never seen anything like her before & I've been listening to popular music since the 60's. She has a mesmerizing, calming effect on me that I have never experienced from any other singer. She is a true "Vocal Artist" unlike many so called artists today that require autotune or pitch correction as well as other production wizardry to sound good.. Angelina Jordan is a genius and prodigy.
Angelina is 9 years old in I put a spelling you. Saying that she does not understand what she is singing may be incorrect. Angelina right from the start in childhood has been able to express and elicit emotion from adult events sis has not experienced. It is said that She hears the story and applies it to experiences in her own life. For example, when she sings about love and an adult situation, she thinks of Love for a family member, and if that love is lost, she thinks of losing one of her family. She feels the emotion because she experiences it in her own way. It is remarkable and at this age she is a prodigy.
There are 2 Dutch girls you 2 also need to check. The first is the 10 year old Amira Willighagen singing O mio babbino caro live on stage with the Andre Rieu orchestra. The second girl is the 15 year old Emma Kok who is well supported by Andre Rieu and have 2 stunning performances on stage with Andre and his orchestra.

At the beginning you see her something writing on a sheet and a man reading it and smiles than.. in an interview this man, who was the "bandleader", said, this were some "wishes" from Angelina (she was every time very polite he said) for changes of her arrangement for the piano 😃

In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield").
So, she is a real all-rounder and I think all her fans are eager to see and hear what she is doing next...

She does a lot of fancy runs, which I'm usually not a big fan of, but she always makes them make sense for the feeling of the song. They're never unnecessary or to show-off.
Also the reason she sings barefoot is that she once befriended a young shoeless girl and gave her her shoes. She made a promise to sing barefoot from then on. I saw a video of one of those people who play at public pianos when she happened to walk by and asked to join in and before she started singing she removed her shoes

You have just seen one of the most remarkable vocalists, singer songwriter artists of a lifetime and she is still now only 18. We are not certain why she said she won NGT at 7 y o but she actually entered Norway's Got Talent at 7 y o and won at 8 y o. Angelina has over 200 covers plus16 original songs and many of these are master level performances.
Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Story of why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a TH-cam video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now OK with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on TH-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina perform Concert at the Music Hall in Portsmouth New Hampshire on Sept 22nd, 2023. It Was a great concert, who was not and could regret it, a big mistake. On 10/27/23 she released her new original singing “Our Time”. In November 2023, she was presented as a debutante at Le Bal des débutantes in Paris. On 12/08/23 she released new Marry Christmas EP “Driving Home for Christmas”. On 12/10/23 she sing in Oslo at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration - Unchained Melody tribute to 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi. On February 29, 2024 she had two concerts in Las Vegas, Nevada,on the Elvis stage. In February 2024 she performed two concerts in Vegas in Febuary 2024 at the same stage that Elvis had his residency and performed over 700 shows. Angelina presented a new original song called "Princess Of Ruins" about a true story of her encounter with an orphaned girl she met at the age of 6 y o in Middle East and gave this girl her shoos.
On May 16, 2024, the first fruits of Angelina's cooperation with Tobi Gad were released. This German composer and record producer based in Los Angeles invited Angeline to an intimate concert at the Hotel Cafe JESSE & FRIENDS, the same one where Adel sang and was discovered. Tobi then took Angelina to London, where she performed His song If I Were A Boy at the London Palladium, and they recorded two versions of the song, Live At Saint James Church, and another studio version illustrated with a film from the streets of London. It seems that Tobi has started cooperation with Angelina and there are several joint songs in the pipeline. At the May concert in Los Angeles, one of them was presented: BAD VALENTINE.
On September 20, 2024 Angelina performed a concert at The Alex Theater in Glendale LA and presented 2 new originals "Thank You", "What Am I To You" and released her Original "Bad Valentine" with Toby Gad, all very powerful songs.

Robert A couple of minor corrections about AGT: Uncle Mike signed a contract with AGT, which freed Angelina of any obligations when she performed. She was not eliminated from the competition: she performed GYBR in the finals.....In this pre-performance interview th-cam.com/video/t4LsdNMX_-0/w-d-xo.html the first thing the producer mentioned is that Angelina won NGT at age 7. This prompting was to later compensate (on-air) for the difference between the recording date (of the show) in October/2019 and the broadcast date in Jan/2020, and correctly peg the age of her performance at 13 (too complicated to fully explain the details here).

I consider her a musical genius on a high level. She's sometimes referred to as the Lady with a 1,000 voices and it seems she is able to sing anything anyway she wishes. You got the "old soul" correct as it has been stated here she understands what she sings--I think, not having been through all of these life situations, that she can associate them with things she has gone through or witnessed but at the same time she is connected to something that most of us are not as I do not think she can have the effect on people from just the mechanical aspect of singing.
