I have a few colours of this cloque fabric in my stash and it was a few years before I actually sewed it up (as we do lol). It can get bulky under the machine so I pulled the thick threads out of the inside of the wider ‘cables’, it added time to the project but made it easier to sew and it looks much better. I managed to get a pair of joggers for my mum who’s a UK size 16 out of 1 metre of fabric but remember that it’s directional!
Can't wait too see all of them, Tamlyn was the only colorway I guessed right , Raun definetley blew out my color choice thought it would be pink, and Rachel I thought might be a green one, they will all be great and i love the pattern choice. Thank you beautiful Sewl Sisiter ❤❤❤
I went for the ivory as planning brown tones for my autumn makes . I hope fff have more colours. I would have liked a coffee or camel colour or a soft green .I like the M&s advert in ivory and feel inspired to make a cardigan and skirt
As a knitter, the thought that anyone would put a knit in the dryer is terrifying 🙀 from my experience the softer and more drapey your knit fabric is, the more you're likely to get pilling. I love my Singer de-piller for all my knitwear (just never try to de-pil a mohair/angora knit )
I have just ordered the plum colour. Think I’m going to make the pipe dream patterns Tara basics dress with the cowl neck. Thank you for the discount code ❤
It's great that you added care recommendations. I was one of those people that thought the more inexpensive fibers result in more 'bubbling' (in the US we call it pilling). I did guess Tamlyn's color but not the others! I think all the choices just look yummy. One thing none of you mentioned is how you plan to finish the seams so the inside looks just as lovely. When you do the reveal, please talk about your choices. Thank you!
Any knits with viscose will pill wherever something rubs on it. I was very disappointed when this happened to me, especially when I spent so much time and money on this. Sorry for the negative comment but I would have appreciated it if someone had told me this prior to all of my effort.
Ordered the Bordeaux colour-way, arrived this morning and it is beautiful. A lovely note from Tamlyn too, thank you 😊Just ordered some more. It’s going to be a winter of southbank sweaters for me. 🎉
All colour choices are beautiful. Rachel, theblue brings out the blue in your eyes. The purple one suits your colours and your black hair, very snowwhite vibes. The ivory looks amazing with your hair, Ruan.
Be good to see these! I've previously made a blackwood and matching skirts and a toaster and skirt in cable knit. They did bobble a bit but loved and worn for a few years ! I never use the tumble drier for memades.Think your chosen colours will look fab Ruan will be stunning in that creamy ivory colour! (silky scarf kept with it to minimize makeup transfer??)
Looking forward to seeing all the makes. Never used the cable knit but intend to soon. I am sure I will be influenced by your results. I am with you Rachel on the colour blocking and lack of detail in patterns about the block and length they draft for.
💜💙🤍...Great colours for all of you I think 🥰. My go to jumper is the LB pullover by Paper Theory. I love this cable knit fabric and I did make an LB with that.. but I think I used to feel so hot in it ... not a problem if it's really cold I guess but it's tends to be so mild and wet in Cornwall. Lovely fabric to snuggle up in if it's cold though ❄️👌. Can't wait to see all your versions 😁👍🤗😘
Love your colour selections, I made a southbank sweater dress in the black last year and definitely need more, im thinking the teal colour 😊 looking forward to seeing your makes ladies ❤
I’m really looking forward to following this and sewing along. I’ve gone for the Bramley red and I’m going to make a Marlo sweater. I’m watching in bed as I have a horrible virus which feels like Covid but tests negative so I’m catching up on vlogs. Take care Rachel not to push too much after your surgery
I haven’t found my cable knits to bobble but always wash them on 30’ delicates. I wash cashmere in the machine on wool wash cold. I love your blue Rachel and have a cardigan in the denim colour. I like this Jarrah style sweater and have considered making it. I’ve made the classic version in this pattern and it came up short.Looking forward to seeing yours. 😊
Love this. Fab choices. Im suprised Ruan didn't pick the love notions metra blazer. I would think that style would really suit her wardrobe. Love that you went for colours that weren't easy to guess. Hope you enjoy making them. Cable k it is definately o. My list to add to the stash and make a full home work wear / operation recovery set from...
Rachel, I love the jarrah and am making the same version as you, although I lengthen the front curve by 2 inches as it's just a bur too cropped for me.
Thanks for the mention. I’ve made several garments in this fabric, including the Blackwood. It’s so cosy, but still looks smart. I love your colour choices. 💕
I'm looking forward to seeing your finished makes. I have a southland sweater dress in the colourway Rachel has chosen. It's so snuggly and warm. I have also made the same version of the jarrah that Rachel has chosen. At 5 ft 9.5 inches, the top of the curve hits my hip bone. Love the different colourways you have all chosen ❤
I was considering making a Blackwood and know it’s more for fitted but also shows off your garment underneath. This has been very helpful. You didn’t say which size but I picked the medium whereas I’d usually make small for my size but this is sized slightly differently. I had to pattern match the Southbank which is a bit of a pain on the bottom band but the Blackwood doesn’t require that I don’t think.
Great stuff. I bought some cable knit from FFF when I was in a couple of weeks ago so really interested to see how these work out. Rachel, don’t apologise for your hair, you’re always gorgeous - all three of you are xx
Looking forward to seeing your finished makes. Love the colours and patterns you’ve each chosen. I have the teal colour way of this fabric and intend to make the Love Notions Canyon cardigan with the waterfall front option. It’s too hot to make it now, so it will be a project in autumn or winter next year (I’m in Australia and heading into summer)
Ruan, you have inspired me with that pattern, I find the fabric too heavy for me in a sweater but will make a Coatigan 🤞🏻I do love all your colour choices though. Rachel you always look beautiful 🤩 I’m also off to buy a defuzzer 😂
Oh, how lovely to see the gorgeous Northern Sewl Sisters again! Love all your selections, and I can't wait to see the reveal. Out of these patterns, I have only made the Megan Nielsen Jarrah. I made the version Rachel is going to make, but unfortunately for me, I messed up the whole thing. The hem turned out terribly wobbly and I must have just stretched out the entire thing. In the end, I cut it off where the dip began and replaced it with a very wide hem band. Not the patterns fault - totally my own mess :)
Thrilled with this whole video, from fabric, fabric care, and your choices of patterns and colors. I think the sew along is a wonderful idea. I already know what I'll make but I will have to send from the states for my fabric. So it will take a bit for mailing. Looking forward to getting started.☺
What a great challenge. I happened to pick up some of the navy/royal/dark blue (I’m not sure how to describe the colour 🤣) a week ago from 1st for Fabrics with the intention of making the Swim Style Viola Vest, but you’ve all given me reason to pause and think again especially Rachel. Can’t wait to see the finished garments and maybe I’ll have time to do mine this month too. Xx
Ive already made a southbank sweater dress with the plum colourway Tamlyn has chosen, which i LOVE. I however totally NEED to make the blackwood cardigan now in the black colourway 😊 I couldn’t tell if you said how much fabric you used for the cardigan Tamlyn? X
Hi there 😊. All 3 of us are wearing the Size Me Boxy Tee. There is a vlog on our channel for the Learn To Dressmake Course with Little Miss Sew N Sew where we all review it 👍🏼
Rachel, please can i very politely ask if you could possibly reduce the exposure on your recordings, i literally cant see your facial features anymore :( and theyre such lovely features :)
Yes, I knew you would pick blue, what a lovely shade of blue, it will really suit you xxx
😊
I'm really looking forward to seeing all of your work.
😊😊

He he. We like to keep you guessing 🤪
Ooo I love all your choices gorgeous can’t wait to see the finished garments😍
Thank you! 😊
Such lovely fabrics. I had a disaster with this fabric a couple of years ago, so I’m eager to see your finished creations.
Oh no 😖
I went for the ivory as planning brown tones for my autumn makes . I hope fff have more colours. I would have liked a coffee or camel colour or a soft green .I like the M&s advert in ivory and feel inspired to make a cardigan and skirt

Thank you so much!
Love all your selections. I’ve ordered the bluebell colourway and I’m going to try the Nina Lee Southbank sweater dress 😊
Pretty color of raspberry ❤
Ordered the Bordeaux colour-way, arrived this morning and it is beautiful. A lovely note from Tamlyn too, thank you 😊Just ordered some more. It’s going to be a winter of southbank sweaters for me. 🎉

Have fun!

I didn't guess right for any of you. I love the fabric, I've got some cable knit fabric so you have all inspired me, just need to find a pattern now x

I recommend using wash bags not with large holes though, to put tops cardigans in the separately makes clothes last longer

Do you mean for the Blackwood or the Carrie? 😊
If any of your viewers know where this fabric is available in Canada I would love to know.
Is it possible to tell me what video Ruan and Rachel talk about the tops they are wearing in the thumbnail?
Hi there 😊. All 3 of us are wearing the Size Me Boxy Tee. There is a vlog on our channel for the Learn To Dressmake Course with Little Miss Sew N Sew where we all review it 👍🏼
Does this rule only apply to knitting with wool? I tumble dry my cotton jersey and cable knits all the time.
It’s definitely down to personal preference 😊
xxX👍👍👍
I’m 5’1” and always buy too much!!! Hate it!
Rachel, please can i very politely ask if you could possibly reduce the exposure on your recordings, i literally cant see your facial features anymore :( and theyre such lovely features :)
It’s just the daylight coming in from the window unfortunately. No doubt it’ll change now the weather is turning 🥶
