I have learned so much over the past few years watching these videos Brian. And guess what? I am a WAY better angler now than I was when I started out just five years ago. I feel damn near competent!!! Every time I put a new leader on, I hear Brian's voice reminding me..."LINE THROUGH LEADER." It's a great tip. Thanks for all you do to educate us!
Brian is way to humble of a man, a true living Legend ! You are a mentor for many anglers out there including myself who have been working hard and lurning from you for the last 3 years !
Thank you, Brian, for this and many of the educational videos you produce. I have learned and refined my understanding of fly fishing giving me a different perspective on various aspects. Thanks again and keep the videos coming. God Bless n Fish on!
I'm fairly new in fly fishing and still have a lot to learn. But I have to say the videos that brain does have been such a help. The casting videos have helped me so much in my casting. This is my definitely go to channel such a big help much appreciated.
This is bananas!! With all of the doo-dads that fly-fishing companies want to sell us and not a single one manufactures such a useful tool?! Man come on fly fishing industry, we know it’s been growing. Nice blur for fishpond btw!
I've been fly fishing a long long time. I have never come across anyone using a tippet guage... I have always wondered how do u exit without it.? I have one permanently attached to my fly pack. It never leaves. It's been there for 30 yrs. I love it. No guessing.
Definitely a good question that would take a whole video to discuss! Shoot Brian an email at the shop and he can help you out 👍 admin@madriveroutfitters.com
As Brian states here, please e-mail or call he or the folks at the shop and they will be happy to help. They do not monitor the comments here but of course monitor the shop. They will be happy to help.....that's what they do!
Hey, guys, I'm coming back to fly fishing after maybe ten years away. I have hundreds of flies, and I know the general categories but I've forgotten the specific names of many. Can you recommend a comprehensive guide to flies? Thanks. Mike C., Hillsborough NC.
Thanks for watching. Please contact the folks at the shop directly and they will be happy to help. You can e-mail them or call them. That's what they do!
Floating line colour….. it’s all about contrast for the fish, they likely don’t see the colour as the bright light (sun) is shining. That same sun helps us see the line as the light source is from bone meaning we see the reflected light…
Hi bryan I have a question about my rod and reel and leader Is it a bad idea to keep it in my car When it's really really hot I have concerns about My leader On my real Any suggestions of what to do Is it a bad idea to keep My rod and reel and leader in my car on On a hot day
Thanks for being here. Please send any and all questions directly to Brian at the shop and he'll be happy to help. You can e-mail him or call him. He doesn't read or respond to comments/questions here....but does obviously at the shop.
Another question is, why are there so many dang knot videos on TH-cam? I see new ones every week, it seems. Knots are another thing about fly fishing that can easily be practiced.
@@MadriveroutfittersThanks, I’m with ya! I learned the necessary knots in a fly fishing class and practiced them enough to memorize them, but this video is very helpful for beginners - I agree, knots can be intimidating to many folks.

No question! Thanks for watching.

A must have accessory for trout anglers…..that you can’t currently buy!!!!!
So what is the thought process with the new SA clear line if you want to be able to see the end?

what cortland line do you use? Regards Benno
The line in question here is the Cortland Hi-Vis Flip! www.madriveroutfitters.com/p-14733-cortland-hi-vis-flip-pallot-fly-line.aspx
Can you use the versileader on a floating line to fish smaller streamers?
Love the channel and the videos!!

Aren’t most sinking lines dark colors too?
The sinking portions are always dark colors.....that is correct.
Its just fly fishing not "Rocket Surgery" or "Brain Science". MRO is my favorite Fly Fishing Channel on TH-cam.

Line through leader, and your connection will never be neater.
Well said!

Really threw me off when he didn't include, "and the Midwest fly fishing school." in his intro.
A conspiracy?
Another question is, why are there so many dang knot videos on TH-cam? I see new ones every week, it seems. Knots are another thing about fly fishing that can easily be practiced.
Because knots scare people, especially people with limited experience and/or dexterity.
People also worry about being judged by commenters....
Your guess is as good as ours. Just learn the basics mentioned here and they'll get ya going!
