The no slip mono loop is also good for larger flies that tend to twist the tippet when casting. Don’t forget to police your tippet after trimming it, just like policing your brass after shooting.

Double Davy (Pinch method) hands down superior in every way to the clinch. Not even debatable.
Infinity Tippet knot is the easiest and most practical on water splicing knot, again, superior to the surgeon'e or blood knots.

Those are the knots I use; I was never super quick with knot-tying. Since I never fish with anybody, I don't have to rush to do anything. When I do rush, Generally, one or two things are going to happen. I spook the fish I want to catch or take what I like to call a shitter. Spending a day wet is not my Idea of a pleasant day unless it's around 90 deg. When it's cool or cold, like one 50 deg October day, I get wet because I am in an excited rush because I just hooked the biggest brown I have ever caught to that date in a little stream I like to fish here in CT, the long walk to the car was not to bad, driving home not terrible I was soaked. The hot shower was great, but the pneumonia I developed damn near killed me. I was 32 at the time, and to this day, I have never been the same since the doctors, every time they do a chest x-ray, ask about the lung scars. That 22-inch hook-jawed Brown Trout was, and it's one of my most memorable. I tied that Olive Zonker to imitate the Atlantic Salmon Smolts the state stocked to restore Atlantic Salmon to CT waters. Just made for a lot of happy brown trout. The State of CT stopped that program after 50 years in '05. A huge failure.

These knots are all you need, but the pitzen knot ( AKA the double or single Superman knot that I’ve been using since 1979 never fails on our big brown and rainbow trout in New Zealand) I wish your shipping rates to New Zealand where cheaper as I would love to buy from your shop as you have such a selection of items, but $100 for shipping is to rich for my blood.
Nice video. To tie the leader to fly line, I really like those needles to putt air in footballs. And they are small enough to cary around.

When tying the blood knot, how close should you clip the tag ends to prevent them from coming undone?
If you have the adequate number of wraps you can trim them flush. Picks up less algae and debris that way. I make sure I have 5-6 wraps on 4X and smaller, but larger lines can have 3-4 wraps. Edit: Just make sure you synch it down well the first time while lubricated. If that is done, it will not slip out.
I haven't used a clinch or improved clinch knot since the Orvis knot came out.

I prefer the perfection loop instead of the non-slip loop knot.
Any clinch knot including the improved is not at all the best choice for tippet to hook! There are many, much better, easier to tie, much stronger knots for this purpose! I am quite surprised you would promote it as knowledgeable fishers should know better! If you know how to tie a perfection loop, you know how to make a Jack Miller knot with a modification of the tag placement! It is a way easier and stronger knot for tippet to fly! Rated at close to 100% breaking strength of the tippet!

I think you’re missing the point of everything he said in this video! lol Also the people watching this video are most likely people trying to learn, Charlie’s done a great job promoting people to get out there and fish as quickly as possible. If you know him and his shop they want people to get out and catch fish. Looking forward to your version of this video?

That was great, I loved the humorous parts. Although I can tie all of the knots shown, I still like watching others tie the same knot to see if they do it differently at some point during the procedure. If I see something that is faster, and better, I will incorporate it into my tying procedure. Thanks for the videos and the books.
Ha. I, too, learned to tie blood knots fishing when I was about 9 or 10 at the Frying Pan - but the Frying Pan on Lake Eucumbene, in the Snowy Mts in Australia. That did make me chuckle. Cheers from downunder. PP
