As someone who is fairly new to fly fishing. I love these videos and have learned so much. Thanks
Thanks for watching.
Thank you. I have a massive man crush on how you explain stuff.
Thanks for being here. Will pass along to Brian.....he'll be honored.
Dude knows his stuff!
I am so glad you mentioned that, as I had a circumstance this spring, where I had put a #8 crayfish imitation over a 24 inch wild brown, under high water conditions, 30 times, with a 4x tippet, and then switched to a 5x tippet, and he took on the next cast! Thankfully, I was fishing a classic 5wt. cane rod, which took some of the strain off the tippet, as I played and landed him. I primarily roll cast on my home steam, as it is pretty tight in there, and the rod seemed to have no trouble turning over the fly on a 5x tippet. Thanks as always for the awesome context!
Thanks for being here.
Brian, YOU are my leader. That's all I need to know.
He'd be honored. Will make sure that he sees this....for sure.
Great advice on tippet selection. I knew about how fly size and wind resistance affected tippet size, but not weight. Another factor now to consider! Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching!
Brian, your videos are what taught me about fly leaders several years ago and I find it to be a very interesting subject. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
Thanks for being here.
Great video! Thanks for the explanation!
Thanks so much for watching.
Take me to your Leader! 👽🙄Thanks as always MRO! 👍👍👌
Thanks for watching.
Excellent refresher and tips/techniques!
Thanks for watching.
This explains much of why my casting is far from the best. New fly angler but long time spin fisher, hard to let go of the old rules(lb test)!!! Probably go out in the yard over the next few days and see just how much my casting improves.
Thanks for watching.
Wish I knew this years ago- great video
Thanks for watching. Be sure to watch the original versions as well from 2017 and 1999!
Pata-gucci is hilarious and I’m using that from now on!
Thanks for being here.
Wow, I agree with you on some things in this video. I disagree that every specific fly requires a specific leader. If you can cast well enough, you can put any fly anywhere you want it. Specifically talking about flyfishing.
Hopefully you will watch more of his leader videos and understand better what he is saying. It's not just about putting a fly anywhere. It's about HOW you put it there and then what happens after it gets there. Three specific and distinctly different types of leaders in fly fishing.
Been my biggest problem with presenting my poppers for bluegill, using the same leader for Bass 😅
That will do it every time!
So you match your tippet and tapered leader to the weight, size of your fly; and you match your line to your rod. Correct??
That sounds correct! Be sure to watch our “Getting Started in Fly Fishing” series here on TH-cam. All of your questions will be answered!
So for rod, reel, or line weight: smaller# = smaller, and bigger# = bigger; BUT for leader or hook size: smaller# = bigger, and bigger# = smaller... got it 👍
Sounds right! Thanks for watching.
Nice video Brian 👍👌. Excellent analogy of tippet line. As I get so confused by buying lines. I manly make my own. With a tippet ring at the end, so you can add / cut , chop & change as you need.
Thanks as always.
Thanks for watching.
