My Most CHALLENGING Solo Camp, LORD’S RAKE via WEST WALL TRAVERSE - Scafell Summit Wild Camp
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 9 มิ.ย. 2024
- This trail will require scrambling experience, a head for heights, and mountain skills over loose scree and exposed terrain. This trail should not be attempted by beginners or anyone inexperienced.
The gully is filled with shifting scree and boulders. Rock fall is a real possibility so take great care. Between the scrambles of Lord's Rake and the West Wall Traverse there is a very narrow and exposed path beside the cliffs and sudden drops. This difficult stretch will require careful concentration so allow plenty of time.

I’ve watched this 3 times now by far your best vid, no one ever films the whole way up, for me the journey is always more important than the destination when it comes to wild camping, keep it up Liam mate YOU CLAG
Thats a brilliant comment mate.. love that.. it’s still 1 of my favourite hikes/camps/vids! That i’ve done.
17K VIEWS: 200 COMMENTS AND ONLY 700 LIKES. WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LIKE. THAT WAS AN EPIC INTREPID CLIMB. I AM BUZZING FOR YOU MATE.❤👍👍👍
Legend mate thank you 👍🏼
Nearly at 25k now so its jumped a little bit in past couple months!
I was fair knackered out watching you do this climb!
What a gorgeous day to have some liberty caps just a few ahhh bliss 🙏👉🌞👍
I've done Lord's Rake four times and found it pretty easy. Always fancied the West Wall Traverse but wondered what it was like, now I know. Thanks for a great vid.
Oh Wow that was scary, everytime you slipped a bit my stomach turned over. I'm exhausted now.
Absolutely the best video of Lords Rake I have seen. I cannot believe the quality. All that using just one hand. Thankyou.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video mate!
I actually fell then 😂🤣😂 31 mins into the video you have just made my day, how you nailed the landing and land back on your feet 😂🤣👏
And the oscar for the best rolly Polly goes to............lol
I was with you all the way up... 😮 Thanks for showing me something I'll never do.
Omg 😳 my feet were tingling watching that!! That was a awesome but very sickly watch. One of the most tense Vlogs I've ever watched. Great effort Liam 👏👏👏👍
hey that was sick that climb to the top and views especially the drone shots
Proper styled out that Roly poly 😂
when I did it more than a few years ago I care to remember, it was 3 steps forward, 2.5 back on the moving scree
up that route to scafell after a 5 mile hike up scafell pike is absolutely insane mate, just did scafell pike yesterday and was knackered after. Good on ya lad proper smashed that one out
Absolutely brilliant well done Liam
Awesome! Epic climb and as if it wasnt flipping good enoght a couple of typhoons skimmed across your head space 👍 love it! This is one of the best outdoors videos ive ever watched. Thanks for taking us along.♥️♥️👌
I haven't got a head for heights, so watching this gave me heart palpitations. 10/10 for the fall though 😂
Roly poly- styled it out ! Don't know why they don't clear all of those nasty rocks - they're a real health and safety issue - that's probably why it's deserted up there apart from a plague of foolhardy midges.Another epic tale from our intrepid hero carves itself in to the annals of history and reinforces belief in the human spirit to make light of falling over and suffer for our art ! Krakatoa lawn mower !
Hahaahah
Your comments are mental man, making me laugh though
I’ve watched quite a few videos of that route now with a view to doing it myself, some by TH-camrs with many more followers than you, but have to say, yours was by far the best. You showed the full route unedited and the camera facing back at you really showed how steep it is and what you had to do to get up it. Brilliant. I think I’ll still be shitting myself when I do it, though.
Oh thank you for that, kind words. I try to show the route the best I can whilst staying safe. Sometimes the routes can look a lot easier on camera so its best to just get out there and have a look! Thanks for watching
Epic climb 👌 loving you're channel subbed a few weeks ago 🙂
Well done.
I did Pikes Crag in the dark and it took some going.
I'm looking forward to being present at the book signing when you publish The Epic Adventures of Claggy O'Scran - Scarf Hell and the Vintage Chicken Sandwich. It'll make Harry Potter look like a chip shop menu covered in vinegar and the remnants of over fried batter !Japanese jam jar jugglers - it's soooo exciting i could crush a grape. After traversing Lord wotsits rake you must of had the feeling ' If i were chocolate - i'd eat myself ' - i know i would Liam.
wow…. i was a nervous wreck watching this … and when you did those 180° or even the 360° snapshots, it made my stomach turn… let alone the almost vertical ascent and standing on the edge of the narrow footpaths, that just drops down?!! 😵😰😵💫🥴🤢 You are one brave man Liam! may your channel grown from strength to strength and please take care of yourself!! 😎🤙 From Gloucestershire
I thought that I was living the last few moments of my life when I did Lord's Rake many years ago in the wet.
Another great trip out. Thanks David
I wouldn’t fancy doing it in any bad weather! Thanks for watching mate.
One of your best videos to date Liam in my opinion. Not many hikers have the confidence to safely film the routes you chose which gave perspective on just how steep, and potentially dangerous they can be. And as for the views you captured. Stunning mate 👊😎
Thanks Marc, I try to capture the route the best I can whilst keeping it safe 👌🏼 The camera doesn’t always do it justice and It can seem easier than it actually is.
Great video. It's certainly a steep climb up Lord's Rake on tough terrain but a lot less scary since the big chockstone at the top fell a few years ago. It used to loom over you at the top of the gully and was huge, you had your hand on a piece of it at 7.00 The rumour was mountain rescue sent it tumbling as it was starting to crack and a good chance it could have gone with people going up. Take care. Mick.
I felt nervous for you going up that! What an achievement lad! Congrats 🙏
Bloody brilliant. That was one butt clenching watch. Fair play to ya 🎉worth it for the pitch and sunset I say. Well done
Hahah butt clenching is a good way to describe it 😅 thanks for watching 😊
Cracking video pal, I was so relieved for you when you got up there!! This section is on leg 3 of the Bob Graham Round and I ran it a few months back - I was literally crying inside whilst doing this climb - proper bricking it!! Never again!! haha
Sick video this Liam ...Love your 'just give it a bash' attitude ....I'm working my way through your videos and love them all ...Love that you just get on with it and show how easy it can be without boasting all the top gear ...quality mate 👍🏻
Hardcore!. Really appreciate you taking us along.
Thank you 👌🏼
Brought back memories! My mum and dad dragged me up there in snow and ice when I was about ten.. not sure if they were oblivious to the dangers or just not arsed! 😂 actually we said at time even though had no snow gear or crampons it was possibly made easier because we were stepping in bigger footprints in the snow/ice made by someone who went up before us.. don't think I'd fancy the scree! And certainly wouldn't take my ten year old up it just yet! Well done fir filming at same time and great vid as always. Nice one 👍
Mate that was amazing 👍 what a great achievement. Proud of you Liam , thanks for your efforts and for sharing your adventures 🙂 take care mate and God bless you 🙏🙏👍
Thanks Colin , it was a sketchy climb
But worth it for the views 👍🏼
That sunset, wow, truly beautiful. Congratulations on a great video loved it 👏
Omg what a challenge 😮 I’ve done most of the area over the years and always wondered what was hiding in the ridges rather you than me 👍😀
Wow! This video was brilliant, you sound so at easy on film and nothing seems too much effort. Hope your channel grows and grows your a star in the making. 👍
Wow thanks Carol, appreciate that so much 😊👍🏼
Smashed that hike!🏞️🥾
Sickkkk views brother, absolutely amazing👏🏼
WHAT A SUNSET😍😍
Proud of you X
Thanks bushra
Great video, all the better for seeing it in full and real time. I was waiting for you to get to the narrow gully at the top of West Wall Traverse - fun isn’t it 😀
Amazing video buddy thanks for sharing 👍
marvellous effort Liam - very impressed with you
Hi just started watching you, my heart was in my mouth watching u go up that way, love a good scramble, never done the mountains in England, I'm Scotland
That was epic 😎
That was a brilliant video. Glad to see the sangers didnt get sqished
Another great Vid, many thanks !
OMG……. If you did a “rolly polly” a bit earlier, I doubt we’d be seeing this video…..😅 Excellent video as always Liam👍🏻
Well done bud. That’s why I love Scafell. ATB - Dave 😎🏔️⛺️👌🏻
Thanks Dave, yeah its certainly worth doing. ( Not sure i’ll be in too much of a rush to do it again mind 😅 ) but I did enjoy it and its worth it for the buzz when you pop out of the top.
Take it easy mate.
Good effort mate. Subbed under severe pressure from your Aunt Elaine but glad I did. You obviously love it. Fair play to ya. Watched several now and into it. Good man.
Amazing video! What a sunset! 🤩
Great job man, appreciate the video 🎉
Good effort, you needed to do that, you needed to answer that question for yourself.
That was an excellent video, very well done. An epic trip, look forward to part 2 👍
Thank you, and its out now buddy
Mate - gorgeous sunset. I hate any kind of scree climbing - you spend 5 minutes deploying the 3rd lung to gain 3 metres up the hill, stand to get your breath and then slowly slip back to where you started without taking a step !! 😂 it is a cracking route though and one of the classics
Just love your videos. I was knackered watching you climb. Looked really uncomfortable. Great fall by the way. Stunning view.
Well done
Awesome Liam, absolutely brill, only person to traverse a mountain and falls on his arse on the flattest summit ever 😂😂😂.
Maybe one of the midges tripped you up.
This video had everything! Heart was in the mouth one minute and I was laughing the next!!! Well done mate ❤
Thanks bro, appreciate that 👍🏼
Sweet
Great video mate it was an epic climb and a good achievement. Top man keep up the good work mate 😉
Thanks Jason, yeah was glad to get this 1 done its been on the cards for a while.
Even my heart was racing just watching you and hearing the stones moving but it was amazing the views were fantastic
Thanks Ann 😊👍🏼
Absolute belter of a video! Hats off to you, brilliant watch 👍
Thanks Paul, appreciate the comment mate👍🏼
Bang on video as usual Liam, stunning views, worth all the effort, you’ll be binning that delivery job and doing this full time #banging
Thanks mate, and maybe 1 day… a LONG way off that yet though!
Epic adventure - I did this and then had scafell all to myself while scafell pike was mobbed out. Remember like it was yesterday!
Mate a compilation of your falls and slips would be funny 😂
That would be class, gonna have to start getting the clips together.
Brilliant and inspiring video, thank you x
Thank you for watching, I appreciate the support 😊👍🏼
Great effort there bro you did superb, another fantastic gig dude even the para rolls are 1st class👍😁
When the going gets tough the tough get going. Like you say Liam, epic.❤❤❤
Thats the 1 mate, thanks for watching 👍🏼
What an epic video! Awesome!!!

Great video Liam. Subscribed.
Absolutely brilliant Liam 👌🏻
Thanks Andy 👍🏼
Loved this video
Thank you
Beautiful footage ur a real inspiration
Thank you 👍🏼
This is definitely one of your best videos👌🏻 you did well scrambling up onto skafell, my vertigo would probably get the better of me. Stunning scenery and surroundings😍
Yeah I think its 1 of my best as well as best video.. the scramble was enjoyable and then got lucky with an epic sunrise 👍🏼 thanks for watching mate
What a great video, we loved it. Walked all over the Lake District but always avoided Lords Rake, you did an amazing job filming and getting to the top via the west wall traverse. To camp at the top in those conditions must have been amazing. Looking forward to the next one to see which route you took down, via Foxes tarn we reckon.😊
Thanks for watching, you should have a go at Lords Rake if the conditions are good. Yes I went down via Foxes Tarn, wow my knees coming down there!
Absolutely loved this 1... am knackered just watching you climb up there😂
Amazing video, really enjoying these clips after recently stumbling across your channel! I think you've got balls of steel, but be careful out there. Not worth injuring yourself to get a good video! :)
Thanks Adam 👍🏼
Great video, great presenting all the way up that climb, not only a great cameraman but awesome stuntman, sideways rolypoly😂. .the business 👍
Thanks mate. Gotta leave those falls in 😅
Good man Liam, super scramble. Great video 👍
Thanks Alan 👌🏼
Nuts. Completely nuts. But brave. Well done 👍👏👏
Thank you 😊😆
Respect 😊
Great video!!
Thanks Rob!
I was getting heart palpitations watching you go up lords rake 😮😅 nice pitch with some epic views 👌
Certainly more difficult than I expected to be fair 🤣 thanks for watching mate
Good effort buddy, cracking vlog keep up the good work.
Thanks buddy
Really interesting to see this - 25 years ago out on a May BH trip I backpacked over Scafell Pike and meant to take the path to Wasdale Head, but missed it and ended up going up the Lord's Rake thinking that must be it (doh), went to the top where you turned L then retraced my steps and found the right path, following some climbers down who kept up conversation for a bit, or one of them did, before being coaxed in by his mate who was a lot quicker than I was. It looked like a vertical drop at the top, but just checking the map again and it looks like there is a path down from there, as well as yours! The next day I was eyeing up Great Gable but my legs were so completely shot as I'd done over 20 miles over tough peaks, I took a much easier route to Buttermere (I think, or am I confusing it with another trip). Great vids, keep them coming!
Thank you , yeah i didn’t want to go straight up so made sure to not miss the west wall traverse turning. Appreciate the comment mate!
Maybe you can get some sort of head strap for the go pro for when your on a climb like these so you’ve got two hands instead of the one! Great videos keep it up! I discovered you last week and nearly watched all your videos! Great work
Wow❤
Flipping eck my heart was in my mouth watching you go up there , felt like i was taking every step with you lol. well done cus I would've been too scared to attempt it on my own
Great vid love your channel .. sca fell pike is one of the ones on my list but I got told it’s boring so that’s why it’s still on the list 🤣 I was going to do it in the next few weeks and pick a harder route .. thank god I saw your video and know to not do that way .. think I would of had a panic attack half way up thinking I’d gone the wrong way it was scary
That was Freaking amazing!
Well done to you for doing that. I can only dream of being able to do it
Thanks Bruce, appreciate the comment and glad you enjoyed the vid
Recent to your channel. Just watched this one. Those trekking poles might’ve helped you out somewhat! 😂
Great video nontheless, I appreciate you sacrificing the poles to give us the true scale and difficulty of Lords Rake in real-time. Absolutely gives you a good sense of what to expect.
Enjoying and appreciate your adventures.
Epic dude🤙🏻
Thanks Chris 👊🏽
Great effort mate and vid 👍
Thanks mate
Brilliant Liam, well done m8
Thanks mate
Hard hike and climb but an awesome route mate great vid 👌👌
Cheers Dave mate 👍🏼
Nice hiking video
Thanks 👍
Another cracking video mate ! I went on my first solo camp last week . Nothing close to as adventurous as your trips but relaxing on my own pvt beach on a Scottish loch was just the ticket
That sounds awesome mate! I’m in Scotland now at Loch Lomond doing as beach camp as my car has broken down 😭
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors oh no ! Is that your new motor ? . Hopefully it's nothing too major !
Wow man that looked scary going up there
