- Summiting Scafell. We descended Scafell Pike and crossed Mickledore before descending towards Lords Rake. From the we ascended the bolder scree slope before veering left at the top and along the West Wall Traverse. This brings you out on top of Scafell. The summit itself is only a short walk away.
We descended via Foxes Rake.

I've done Lord's Rake four times (as part of the Wainwright walk for Supermen) and have always been tempted by the West wall traverse. I thought it was steeper than this and the rake and that's what put me off, It looks pretty straightforward and not steep at all. Great instructive vid. Thank you.
The traverse itself isn’t too bad. When you get to the end and turn right there’s another rake with a short scramble at the top. Nothing too testing. When it’s clear the views on the WWT are amazing, you could literally be anywhere! Thank you 👍
That's great thank you. I'm in the LD in April and may fit this in.@@TrailRunningCouple
Did it a long time ago, but as I remember the WWT is less exposed than doing the second part of the Lords Rake, which the WWT thus avoids. I think there is just one exposed part, then it becomes an enclosed gill to the top.
@@Bosscat86 Great Thanks you. I am putting it on the must do list for my April 2025 trip.
@@Bosscat86we’ve yet to do the second section of the Lords Rake, always turned onto the WWT. Will give it a go sometime 👍
Your guys rock, it's tempted us to give it a go when we're in the lakes next. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! It's a great route which we're sure you'll enjoy.
Thank you for watching and taking time to comment, much appreciated!
Only just found your vids. And absolutely loving em
Thank you, that’s lovely to hear. Glad you like them 😊
Epic guys a tuff route up scafell 🙌👍
Great effort 👍😊 ATB simon
Thank you, a classic route which we love very much!
@@TrailRunningCouple great to watch 🙌 thanks again 👍😊
That is one of the coolest routes ive seen
I think it’s the best route to Sca Fell from Scafell Pike. Thanks!
Very clean footage this mate, 4k Is on POINT 👌👌
Thanks Matt, really impressed with the footage from these little GoPro’s! I’ll check out your channel 👍
You don't pick the easy routes do you! Well done guys 👍🏃
Thanks! We do look for the harder routes, they’re guaranteed to be more fun and less busy 🙂
Very nice scramble, never been in the lakes. That first bit up Lords rake looks a bit like one of the gullies on North ridge of Tryfan, second but with this scree reminds me of Pen Yr ole Wen. Nice route, thanks for sharing
Thanks Kris, it’s a great route and in my opinion the best route to summit Scafell. However, there’s another scramble to the summit called Broad Stand. That has to be ascended in the very best of conditions if not using ropes. We backed out of that and did this instead! Can’t beat a good scree ascent 😂
@@TrailRunningCouple 😂 will check this one out, yeah better back out than get stuck or fall, very wise move. I'm binge watching your channel as have spare 1h time :) Looks like you've been scrambling for a while as it looks like you don't put much effort into it(you make it looks easy :) I can't hear you breathing heavily like I do 😂 Anyways time for a next video from your list before I run out of time, have a good day and keep them videos coming :)
Thanks again Chris, not really been scrambling for too long, only around 4 or 5 months but we’ve done a lot of trail running. Now we try to add scrambles where we can, more difficult the better!
We do breath heavily, sometimes I listen back and it sounds like I’m ready to collapse ⛑😂
@@TrailRunningCouple Oh really I've seen you doing some G3 scrambles in Peak and thought you are some pro :) I'm stuck at G1 as leave to far away to be in the mountains often enough to build my confidence(still I'm better than when I started at some hills in peak district :) not even graded as 1 😂 ams being scared.
I did this in both directions today, down climbing the West Wall Traverse wasn’t anything like fun… 😂
Always wondered how it would be going down the WWT and Lords Rake! Good effort 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple I wouldn't recommend it when it's wet but I imagine in the dry it's okay.
Enjoyed the vid. Look quite easy to miss the start of the West Wall traverse? How's the exposure up there? Didn't look too bad, just steep scree?
Thanks for posting 👍
There’s no real exposure to be honest. It’s steep and really looks it when you look down. There’s obviously a drop off the side of the West Wall Traverse but the path is wide enough to not be on the edge. Thanks 👍
I’m confused ???? You don’t say a word to each other and most of the time all we see is you looking at the cam??? And you get 3.8k views ???
I do an informative detailed run from seathwaite farm, getting stuck and having some decent tunes accompanying it and have 94 views????
( mcnivs runs) what’s the secret???
Scary hill though eh?? I was stupid and went alone …. #lessonlearnt
We’ve had loads of comments from people who like the way we take footage in that there’s no talking or music. They say it’s like they’re there with us, enjoying the scenery. Who knows? I guess what floats one persons boat sinks another!!
I’ll have a look at your channel 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple awe thanks man…. You might like the oven run….. it’s a bit of a fook about with some heavy metal to boot…. Oh and some running🙏
