When you say try to apply right now, what about those who are still in school and are trying to build their gpa up?

I already graduated with a BA and two associate degrees in unrelated fields but am considering going back to school as a PTA because I need a career change. 35 years old and have had to do over 10 years of physical therapy myself due to multiple surgeries.
Any advice for someone like me? Go to a private trade school? How much do you think it’ll cost and how much does the first year make? I’d like to do a program that is done in 2-3 years. I really don’t care about the school, I care about getting experience and getting to work right away.

Truth! Love to hear that. School is just a stepping stone to get what you really want

PTA schools can cost between $10k-50k from what I’ve seen. Private trade school to learn a trade? Sure possibly if that’s what you want to do
How much does a first year pta make? Somewhere in the $48k-$55k range

I’m just confused on, do you apply to the college and pick a major in kinesiology or exercise science then apply to PT school after doing some volunteering at PT clinics. Also another thing I’m wondering about is how do you become a PTA before a PT like can I just apply for a PTA once I finish the college course or do I have to apply after completing PT school?

@@jtballin1863 apply to an undergrad 4 year college and look for a degree that is more Pre-PT oriented. This type of degree focuses on completing pre-requisites for PT school but you can also get into OT with any undergrad like computer science, communications, business, etc. As long as you are able to complete the pre reqs PT schools look for, the degree does not matter.
