We just got an KMX 3axis retrofit in our shop and I am struggling to wrap my mind around the tool table. Why did you set the base of the vise and not the part? How would this differ if using just R8 collets? That is what we currently have but I am looking to get some R8 shank ER32's for more repeatable zeroing.
@danielyochelson5204 that's really cool that you just got one of those retrofits. I usually set up tools off the 123 block because if I have multiple tools on one job and the second tool breaks for the first tool has already cut, then I can't reset that tool length. I believe if you want some repeatability with your R8 collets, you can put a set screw behi d the tool that won't interfere with the draw bar. that way, the tool can only go so far up into the collet it every time. that may help with your repeatability temporarily until you get the other collets. What cam software did you use?
I used Feature cam. There are lots of them, but for simple 3 axis, it works well.
