Brings back so many good memories this venue. Back in the 80s used to come here for the weekend with 2 other guys. We would travel down on the friday afternoon or evening set up camp at the top of the shingle bank. Our camp consisted of 8 bits of old steel slotted angle all bolted together to form a frame and a piece of old tarpaulin sheet layed over the top with shingle pushed up the sides to hold it down. That was our base for the friday night through until sunday morning when we would travel back home to Dartford. The fishing back then was nothing short of great all species and all sizes came out along the whole beach. Great times. Thanks for sharing this video you made an old man happy. Looking forward to hopefully giving it another bash in the not to distant.

Had some good and bad days at Dungie beach. Beautiful Dover Souls 2lb+ large Bass and Big Cod on the winter along with the Channel Whiting. Always remember the pesky Weavers as well. The good old days when Dingiest was in its prime. Keep the great work up love these fishing stories👍👍
The glory days of these venues are long gone but iy's very nice to see you giving them a bash . Legend has it that John Darling once roamed these sacred shores fishing rods and air rifle at hand . Thanks buddy .

Yes, I had forgotten about that - half way up the tide it seemed to rise much quicker. Its deceptive - the shingle is steeper than you think - obviously I can't film it all, but it did genuinely
Hey, went there yesterday for a camping fishing trip with my brother. The dogfish was amazing nearly 20 in one night with a lot of large whiting coming up with them. Thanks for all the information just one day wish Ill be able to afford one of your rods! They look amazing!
Thanks for watching and commenting Jamie. Plenty of dogfish and whiting at Dungeness - the Point area is solid with them, even during the day. The rods are quite old and were fairly cheap for what they are. No longer available as Grauvell have folded - will be upgrading to some new Colmic ones.
Another fine session, with 5 species. Bass, Plaice, flounder, Whiting and I'm sure you won't mind me pointing out the fish at 22:30 is actually a Dab. Small mistake, but after catching your target species Plaice, I think any Angler would be happy with another species to the tally.

Small plaice, flounders and dabs often confuse anglers - this one had no pronnounced C shaped indentation in the lateral line above the pectoral fin and looked like it had small knobs on the upper part of its gill cover - but then again I do wear glasses for a reason!
What's better than watching one of your videos? Watching one of your videos with a hot cup of freshly brewed, real, coffee and a couple of digestive biscuits which is just what I did. Heaven! Excellent video - as always - and a really good session. I noticed from an earlier response from you that you are planning to obtain a couple of Colmic rods. May I be rude and enquire which one(s)? Looking forward to your next video when you fish The Boats at Dungeness. If you're planning to fish during the night, keep an eye open for the odd ghost or two! Rumour has it that they used to be quite prevalent. I once fished The Boards and swear I saw the ghost of someone just standing, looking out to sea. Great session ...I fished Galloway's on Sunday ...blanked ...but there were a few whiting and mackerel caught ....but the conditions were very different to yours in the video ...good job anyway 👍
Sorry to hear that @lunacy1971. Galloways hasn't been fishing that well. When its calm and clear you're most likely to catch just as the light begins to fade. Needs to be fairly rough for the bass.
Yes the access road to Dengemarsh is pretty awful now. I walked down here whilst Visiting Camber. The car park (where we parked in the 80s) was full of shingle. I wouldn't take my car down there now 😲😲😲😲
Fished dengemarsh yesterday thought I found area 51 or something with the firing range and the nuclear power station either side, don't forget about the road from hell that you have to drive down to get there, but it was perfect
Thanks for that Mike. Distance is always difficult to tell, so I tend to be a little vague. If I say short range, I generally mean 20 - 40 yds, medium range 40 - 80 yds, long range > 80 yds. 80 yds for one person, is 100 yds to another, unless you actually measure it out! With the wind behind, which was the case here, my long range would be over 100 yds.

Thanks Lee - depends how often you use the braid and the breaking strain. You will lose line as with mono - crack-offs, o snags etc. I tend to just tie on more when a spool is getting low. If this has been done too often i.e. a few knots present, then this affects casting, so will need to be changed. Tends to happen more often with 20lb braid than 30lb; but then again, I'm using 20lb far more often. Not very abrasion resistant, so if you fish with it over rough ground, you will be changing it sooner than you would with mono.
Do you have a good spot for plaice I remember as a kid we used to go up to arneside cumbria catching loads of dabs by standing on them And reaching down and grabbing them and putting them in bucket for tea were in shallows and aware of tides great fun
@@rodsangleuk6283 i remember once next door neighbour went sea fishing on a boat two days at sea he came back with 160 lb of cod all neighbours had freezers full of cod We got sick of it They reckon turbot ls good eating but very exspensive my fav plaice halibiut dover sole and lemon sole I know it sounds daft but i love tinned red salmon Do you always fish on your own I was same always fished on my own ànd always went shooting on my own when out hunting with shotgun i only had .myself to look after i once got invited on a shoot with some toffs good folk but not my thing not hunting stood there having birds driven at you Ill.say this about your channel its refreshing your down to earth and you come across well I havent fished for a few yrs im not well osteoarthiritis degenerative disc disease in spine and fibromyalgia so.im in lots of pain Anyway ive met s pal online hes going to help.me set my amateur radio and cb setup.aerial and radio up but he fishes as well he lives nesr canal so it would b good to try an hour with pole when this is over Id love to just sit on beach snd watch you fish But like me you ènjoy your own company Tight lines and take care pal Great channel

Roy Warner this is the big debate. I can see how a really good wide angle lens can be cropped,panned and zoomed. But I am sure one in recently,following a helicopter (and he was in camera shot at one point) this was not possible. But to be honest I don’t care they are brilliant videos and I have learnt a lot.
RodsAngleUK nobody else produces videos of this quality/type. So we are searching for the conspiracy theory answer , there is a compliment in there... keep them coming, we love ‘em.
Just something else to try John. I have plain versions of some of the 'continental' leads, but they tend to come in different colours. I think he theory is they are supposed to attract flatfish. Would love to hear from anyone who's more clued up on it than me! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Good point - force of habit and partly because I'm using long rods. Lower centre of gravity - I've had my tripod pulled over many times before when using the butt cups. Not so much of an issue when using 12ft or 13ft rods. Particularly when using the 16 footers, quite often I like to dig the butts in to the shingle - it makes me feel more secure! Thanks Mark - yes its a good venue. I started fishing there when it was already on the decline; but had some good night sessions catching codling.

Coldest night I spend there was -14c. You had to keep the bait inside your coat to stop it freezing solid. The fish froze solid in the bucket.

My go to venue for plaice is Seaford @indiana146. Not many areas are as prolific now as you describe!

why dont you use your but cups because ive noticed that when you want your rods higher you just move your rest
