As with most of these scan tools you need to know how much the yearly update subscription fee is if any. You may find the tools is relativly cheap to buy,but then you need to consider the cost of any update subscriptions . In my experience most of the low cost DIY type updates are included free of charge. However you may find that the scan tool updates are not done very often,or comprehensivly I believe you get the first two year of updates free, but after that you need to pay with this X7
As a DIYer I decided to only consider free update boxes. I think the subscription model would be less viable if they could catch the DIY market with free updates.
@@colin5064 For all DIYers subscriptions are a problem, as it may sit in a drwer for 2 years, and then suddenly be needed! :) The Launch series of 'per brand' cheaper boxes look quite interesting for this use case.
Seems a good capable device. But this has put me off it : We just have stocks in the US/EU warehouse, but not have a branch tech department in the US/EU, if the item has a problem that needs a repair, you need to send it back to our Shenzhen warehouse.
Subscribed Ryan... I am a mechanic but the electrics are obviously an increasing PITA for those old gits like me that trained before ECU's were invented. What test light do you recommend that gets into the nooks & crannies... going to make up a H7 one... Cheers Gordon
Hi Ryan Please in the next video or the next time you use the multimeter, please can you tell us where you get them from as can’t can’t find anything like you have (t piece mainly so you can add a scope to, etc. )
Hi do you think a sensor simulator is worth having for testing all the sensors and actuators such as the hubby tools one.or do you think they are a waste of money.love the channel you are a fantastic diagnostian
Good video Ryan. Keep them coming. Would you travel to darvel to fix a car. Got a 18 plate seat Leon non crank but will start if I put a live to the starter. One of these ones you got to press the clutch to get it to crank. on the diagnostic scanner I can see the clutch switch working. One fault code is P304900 Activation starter relay 2 open circuit. But I don’t know where this relay is. I’ve checked all the fuses and all are good. Can you help me or would you want to come fix it.
Might be daft question but wouldn’t it be worth just trying a new sensor as there quite cheap and can always send them back, as if it comes back to a faulty sensor you spent your time with the multi meter ext so gonna cost more for customer is it or not? I know more expensive things u wanna be fully diagnosing the issue first but summit cheap suppose it's worth just swapping first
If the sensor doesn't fix it you are stuck with a sensor that you can't use or charge the customer for and then still have to diagnose the issue anyway. Better doing it the way he does it Most part places won't take back opened electrical parts
This one already had a new aftermarket sensor fitted, It still needs a sensor in the end but the video proved how some aftermarket parts are not up to the task
@@mrautoservices7354 hey mate, could you tell me what wiring diagrams you use, I looked up HGS that you talk about but can't find it online. Is it a monthly sub and if so how much is it?
I will ask the question however it really shouldn’t make any difference at all because its just usb type c for charging so any generic cable and plug will do
Some time ago in one of your normaly excellent videos you said you didn't wish to become just a product review site. Lets hope thats still the case,as there are so many good bad and ugly sites that do this on the internet. I understand you were sent this product free by Ancel,so you feel obligated to review it in return for this. I do hope your video content is determined by you or your company, and not purly determined by companies seeking exposure for their products. Your TH-cam chanel you control the content,I for one hope it remains focused on the interesting fault diagnosis and repair process
No trust me i knock back diagnostic machine reviews left right and centre, Not because i don’t want to do them but purely out of having barely any time for normal diagnostic videos Thanks for watching

Another one on the market but seems good and done the job for you.Well done as always for your work.
At 4:00 the range is better if it can see through glass, rather than metal, best on the dash or somewhere perhaps.

Hi thanks for watching, It really depends on what load of test light you intend to use
The otc one i use is ideal for lw current circuit (5v refs etc)
Thank you 👍

Sensor simulators are very worth it however if you can test the wiring with confidence most of the time its not neeed

Ancel X7 ? Thought at first it was something to do with a limited edition BMW.
