    The Super Soldier Serum is one of the most sought after and mysterious items in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it may seem pretty straight forward, you know, you inject someone with this Serum and they become super strong but that’s not really the case. In today’s video we’ll take an in-depth look at what the super soldier serum is and how impactful it’s been to the marvel cinematic universe as a whole.

    Each alternative serum from Captain America's one had some advantages over the original. The Howard Stark Verision had more strength, Blonsky had a better healing factor and the Hulk one turned Bruce into a someone with the strength of Hercules. But all of them had imbalances. Only Erskine's formula had no bad side effects

      MCU Captain America is a blend of the Earth 616 and Ultimate universe versions. In the Ultimates comics line, Steve does indeed have superhuman strength. Nick Fury is also based on his Ultimate version as the 616 version is caucasian. In case you arent a comic nerd, Earth 616 is considered the "main" universe in Marvel Comics.

    • @robbievalentine8239

      Captain America is the oldest character in marvel, and "peak human" meant a different thing then than it did now.

    • @damianpatterson9363
      @damianpatterson9363 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It depends on which version of Cap is being used. The Ultimate version, which is the version mostly used in the MCU, does have superhuman strength. The main comic version (616) is only peak human, meaning he's as strong, as fast etc. as human being could possibly be without being superhuman.

    One thing everyone gets wrong including Bruce banner is that the OG serum didn't required the Vita rays on a normal human. They were used in Steve to increase his physiology to peak level, and the serum enhanced that to further superhuman level. For everyone comparing Steve with other super soldiers, remember he got 6 vials of perfect SSS instead of normal 1 vial.

    • @ProjektTaku
      @ProjektTaku ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I thought that was just due to the lower technology of the time requiring a higher dosage of the serum, so 1 vial currently is equal to steve's 6 vials.
      The vita rays were used to speed up the serums effects and stabilize it.

      Vita rays are, in the comics, the means of accelerating and stabilizing the process of the super soldier serum. This is why in the absence of radiation treatment, Red Skull goes crazy, carried away by the instability of the serum. At no time did Erskine say that they increase his effectiveness. Do you have anything that would tend to prove your thesis in the MCU?

    • @blaxpoitation8528
      @blaxpoitation8528 4 ปีที่แล้ว +74

      Correct. Luke Cage/Power Man got his powers from a variant of the sss. Also, in the new Falcon/Winter Soldier series, they're going to introduce John Walker aka US Agent was given a variant of the sss. But he's actually stronger than Steve. And he's also more aggressive and violent. He became a pawn of the government. Patriot aka Eli Bradley also has the sss, that he got thru a blood transfusion from Isaiah Bradley, who was the black Captain America. Isaiah had all of Steve's abilities, but it little by little regressed his mental capacities, eventually giving him almost a childlike personality. Eli on the other hand, suffered no side effects, and may be even more enhanced than Steve.
      Apparently, Sam/Falcon wil be offered the serum in the series, but he'll turn it down initially. But im hoping that by the end of the series, Falcon will be given the sss as well, but he won't become a villain like US Agent

  • @jordanhobbs5452
    @jordanhobbs5452 4 ปีที่แล้ว +51

    Finally, someone who recognizes that Bucky got the Serum too. Everyone (even some cast in interviews) seem to think Buckys only enhancement is the arm, and completely overlook when Steve says "whatever Zola did to him helped him survive the fall."
    Just because they don't come out and say the word "serum" on film people ignore it. But look in civil war when he's running the highway with Steve and T'Challa, but once infinity war came around they seemed to downplay him to just a gunner, not even showcasing any physical attributes.
    I don't think his serum was any less than Steve's either, I always assumed that since he was never "saturated with Vita Rays" that it took a while for his effects to fully set it, instead of instantly like Steve's, that's why he didn't notice really with the howling commandos that he was growing and bulking etc. But on the train he felt that trust in his strength to do more than what he could because he knew deep down it was effecting him. That's why suddenly in CAWS he's suddenly back to being taller than Steve, the Serum fully set in.
    No one notices this!!!??!!

      In fact your probably the only one I’ve seen even bring it up. Bucky was literally running faster than cars on par with Steve and Tchalla. Plain and simple. Of course he got a serum.
      It’s also how they kept being able to freeze and unfreeze him over the years.

      @@trapcorner1758 I think you're right because in CATWS and Civil War he was on par with Steve, but in AIW and Endgame he isn't keeping up with Steve and T'Challa, but might have been on purpose to hang back, ya know, having an M249 SAW and all lol. But I also think they didn't want to have someone who was as good as Steve, because that almost downplays Steve's specialities, but with Steve now retired, shouldn't they want Bucky to continue to be his equal to make up for Sam's lack of Serum in FATWS? I mean, Sam has the wings and the shield, and Bucky has the Serum, together they make Cap and can compete with US Agent. Idk, hopefully they showcase Bucky more in FATWS, I mean he's a primary character lol plus supposedly the story involves the serum heavily so acting like Bucky doesn't have it would be assinine.

      @EE3rd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally think that it is the fact that he is not The Winter Soldier. Sure he has his memories, but isn’t as skilled as he is when in Winter Soldier state. I mean, look in Civil War: he is barely able to counter Ta Challa at first, and then he becomes Winter Soldier and kicks everyone’s asses.

    • @jordanhobbs5452
      @jordanhobbs5452 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@EE3rd when he's in the Winter Soldier state he just doesn't care, his object is to get the mission done, anyone or anything in the way is obsolete collateral, that's why he was knocking people away no matter what it took (almost shooting Tony in the face at point blank range, jesus) and is a completely uncaged animal with no restraint.
      When he isn't under that control however he actually has feelings and may not want to actually hurt anyone, let alone kill anyone. I mean in Romania he wasn't brainwashed but still was pile driving through swat officers like batting away flies. He actually has some restrain and is conscious of what he's doing, just pulling his punches.
      As far as training it's all still there, he just is holding back, but when he's pushed to the limit, such as when Tony is actively trying to flat out murder him (and almost blasts him in the face at point blank, but with an anti-tank missile!) He steps it up, and starts to actually try when he realizes he can't run away and has to actually help Steve actively stop Tony. Then once Tony knocks Steve out and aside Bucky becomes enraged and realizes he's alone, fighting for his life, against an enhanced, super suited Avenger, and just watched his friend, Steve, get knocked out.
      Bucky gets so focused, like a body builder forcing out that last PR rep, and even vocally screams out because he's trying so hard to rip out that arc reactor, (which frankly he doesn't even know for sure if that's lethal or not) and knows it's now or never, take this man down or brutally die trying, and still tries to avoid killing Tony. All of that pushes him to a point to basically Winter Soldier status and he completely let's go and shows us that he is still that skilled, all that training, and certainly all the pain he has endured. He's the Winter Soldier with a Soul. His memory is back, and therefore remembers all his trainings which are muscle memory anyway.
      He is still as good as he was in CATWS, he just actually cares now. Which is why I hope they showcase that he's still the guy who went toe-to-toe with Steve (who didn't know he was Bucky yet so he wasn't holding back either) on that Highway, and bulldozed his way through half of the Avengers in the blink of an eye. We need Marvel to give Bucky (and Sam for that matter) justice, and I can't wait to see it. Sebastian Stan has put his heart, Soul and blood into this role, and it really shows. I just hope he gets the recognition he deserves lol

    I always looked at it as each different serum worked. The Dr. stated to Cap about the serum, "it only enhances who you really are" something like that. So I always looked it as, Bruce Banner is really angry so the serum enhanced that. As well as Red Skull. But this video was awesome. To this day I think The Incredible Hulk is the 2nd most important MCU film. It open the possibilities by connecting Stark Industries tech as well as the mention of the Super Solider Serum. And TIH still has the best after credit scene.

    What i love about this isn't that it's hard to make someone super strong, et al. The world is fiilling up with people who can't be matched. The problem is it almost invariably comes with side effects. The trick is making (Another) hero, without making another mindless killing machine that goes on a city destroying rampage every time he loses control, or maniacal Halloween themed psycho on a rocket glider. It's heavily implied that the only reason why it ever worked is because Erskine managed to find 1 perfect candidate, that wasn't corrupted by the formula.

    There's a HUGE character evolution bomb waiting to go off on Captain America. Something many people either don't know or don't think about regarding his power set is that the super-soldier serum didn't just make Steve faster and stronger. It also enhanced his brain to the point that it's essentially an organic supercomputer. He has a photographic memory and the ability to think hundreds of times faster than a normal human. This is the secret to why his shield always returns to him after he throws it. In the moment he throws his shield, he performs dozens of complex calculations to determine how to throw it (angle, spin, speed, etc.) to get it to bounce off of everything in the room (including moving objects) and return to his hand at the end.
    So, how does this make a character evolution bomb? Well, with Steve's brainpower, he could literally walk into a physics library and learn EVERYTHING in an afternoon if he wanted to. Give him a week to study all the latest trends in science and engineering and he would have Tony Stark level skills. Give him two weeks and access to a few advanced alien artifacts (which he DOES have access to) and he'll be the galaxy's most advanced engineer.
    ALSO, as we learn from reading Dr. Strange, magic isn't necessarily an inborn ability. It can be LEARNED as a skill. Give Steve access to the Sanctum Sanctorum and a couple of weeks studying under Dr. Strange, and Steve will be the new Sorcerer Supreme!
    Now we're talking about a person with Super Soldier stats with gear BEYOND Stark Tech and wielding BEYOND Dr. Strange levels of magical power. He would be the good-guy equivalent of Dr. Doom, but so much more powerful than Doom that Doom would look like a lad playing with his first magic trick kit. He would be a Universal Threat level character on par with the Celestials and the Cosmic Beings.

Considering the fact that she’s able to go toe to toe with Proxima Midnight in Avengers Infinity War and defeat her, is proof that she has physical abilities far greater than an ordinary woman. We also know that Red Guardian has a form of the Super Soldier Serum as well. Dude you are way off about the serum, you keep saying Buckys serum and Stark's serum is superior, not the case, cause of the serum that Erskine made, the actual serum, the Steve Rogers is the best and only true successful Super Soldier, not Bucky, not Hulk and for an absolute certainty not the Hydra soldiers, Blonsky and Red Skull.

    He acquired the secret soldier serum from Count Dracula himself. Derived primarily from Dracula's blood, enhanced with additional technologies, this serum is the reason Captain America never succumbed to death. He remains unchanged, unaffected by the side effects that plagued his vampiric counterpart. "Ruins of Ravencroft: Dracula #1" is a gripping addition to Marvel Comics' "Ruins of Ravencroft" series, delving into the ominous history of Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane. This issue focuses on the notorious vampire lord, Dracula, and his ties to the institute. Known for his eternal struggle against heroes like the Avengers and the X-Men, Dracula's presence adds a chilling dimension to Ravencroft's dark past. Through action, suspense, and character development, this comic promises readers a compelling journey into the shadowy recesses of the Marvel Universe.

      Thatrandomblackguy he can get drunk but he needs more earth alcohol to get drunk than asgardians
      Thor can get drunk if he drinks to much
      As for captain america I think his body processes toxins faster than he can drink.
      As for thor, he may be strong and have a stronger body overall but he grew up with natural means. So just stronger body doesnt mean stronger digestive system. If they have strong digestive systems thats the case then all asgardians would need to eat lots of food to keep up with their body. If each asgardian needs to eat as much as 2-4 humans. Then they would have long been in famine and starvation.
      And cap wasnt natural, he became strong because of the serum. So I guess toxins cleansing is one of his powers given by the serum.
      Imagine this, the serum was made to make a perfect soldier. What are the most common occurence in a war? Infections, diseases, gun wounds. So there goes your super soldier dead because of an infection.
      Overall
      Thor can get drunk because he is all natural
      Captain America cant because of the serum

      @@thestrangerthattalks9516 alright makes sense when you put it that way. But I still have a problem with how inconsistent Thor is in the Mcu. When he's fighting being from his own realm or being who are considered "gods" we get to see Thor is all his son of the all father glory but as soon as he's next to cap or ironman he's fighting at their level, or even getting out classed by cap

    If I remember correctly from my youth, Banner was researching people who become super strong during a crisis. He made experiments with gamma radiation in that research, so it was only gamma radiation at high level that made him trasnform to the hulk when angered. I am not sure if that is from the comic or from the old tv series, however.
