My great grandmother actually found a copy of alpha sapphire sealed she forgot to give me (apparently 10 years ago I feel old) and gave it to me the other day lmao
Its been 10 years.. bro what happened? Honeslty ORAS was such a fun time. They relased complete and finished. Respected the orginal(somewhat, battlefrontier was a let down) and gave us a real way to catch Deoxys and other legendarys. Soaring on mega Latios/as was so much fun. Now that's a feature that should have stayed in future relases. And finding the mirage island with hoopa rings on them was a great way to catch legendary pokemon. You could get so many in one copy The next year, 2015, they relased all the mythicals and i was so exited to get Jirachi, Mew, and Arceus. Dex Nav was an amazing feature. The PSS was the best online ever. Then Sun and Moon ruined it. Honeslty ORAS was a classic. As far as remakes go its one of the better ones

@@analteredone9485 gen 5 and the first half of 6 were the only games i didn’t play on release. I’ve sense gone back and played all 6 games. I loved Black and White 2.

Having Icicle Crash on a Pikachu wearing a blue dress was crazy, I really wish we could've brought her over to newer games 😥
These games are nostalgic to me, Pokemon X was my first game(I was so bad at the game, I had to google how to do the furfrou puzzle at the mansion), but Omega Ruby was the first to hook me. I'd say I am also nostalgic for gen 3 because of my Omega Ruby experience, even though I have never played it. Pokemon Omega Ruby got me into a fan and Pokemon Sword destroyed my trust with the series (Pokemon Sun and Moon put it on thin ice), I recently played Legends Arceus which I had fun with.
I love ORAS so much. My gf is playing it for the first time side by side with me and I'm working on the pokedex in alpha sapphire with my completed omega ruby save. Obviously nostalgia plays a part in my love for this region but gah damn the pokemon designs, region design, music, everything i just love so much. Dont even get me started on how beautiful the region looks in 3D, Meteor Falls blows my mind every time. The delta episode is the best postgame in any pokemon game imo. Nothing is more badass than catching Rayquaza, then no chance to save or heal, right into riding it into space to catch Deoxys. Just incredible. Its also really appreciated to be able to turn off the exp share. I love pokemon amie, super training & the dexnav is an amazing feature. Im finishing the dex for the shiny charm purely so i can dexnav hunt. + I love zooming through the water routes on my sharpedo. ORAS are by far the best remakes in the series, the best way to experience Hoenn in modern day. Emerald is still great yes but, that physical special split gives so many more pokemon viability. Steven Stone ily ❤
These games are easily in my top 5. It was when I most into VGC, it has one of my absolute favorite OSTs all together and Secret Bases being like a mini gym you could fill with your friends was my favorite feature. People still share there QR codes for bases on r/ORAS and i recently posted mine when I realized I was at over 5000 flags captured. Games were fantastic and my favorite remakes over all
I grew up playing Sapphire, and played it before I could even read. I always loved pokemon and then gen 6 came out and I was all in. I put over 300 hours into X and watched every X and Y episode. It was awesome when the remakes of the OG game I played came out and I put over 300 hours into it as well. Good times, can’t believe that was 10 years ago now😭
I really love Omega Ruby adn Alpha Sapphire (: I remember when they first came out, I was working at Target and I picked up a copy of Alpha Sapphire with the strategy guide. I really like going back to those games and playing them (:
Also in oras, after you stop Groundon and Kyogre, you can get the national dex so you can get mons like Rosarade and legendaries like Ho-oh before the Hoenn League which was awesome 😁
Aaaaand that searchnav feature thing fucking ruled. That plus the random mirage islands netted me a ditto with 4 perfect IVs, making breeding extremely easier, and all of our pokemon can still be transferred to current gens if we had Pokemon Home before it closed. Rather than saying they lowered the levels in this game, I think it'd be more accurate to say they lowered the levels of roughly the first half and raised the levels of the second half. It probably just doesn't feel that way thanks to the Exp. Share (which I'm not complaining tbh).
I played these games for the first time like months ago and did a shiny only play through, got it for Christmas last year and took almost a full year to get starter, final team was blaziken, milotic, gardevoir, aggron, crobat, manectric
If I may say, what I liked about ORAS was the new mega evo's; also secret bases , Blissey bases were OP. And one dislike is that they made it seem that there was going to be a Battle Frontier but never actually did anything.
I think the Physical/Special Split is a WAY bigger deal than you seem to. I specifically refuse to play any Pokémon game that doesn't have it. I'd rather have it than held items, abilities, or even the Special Split. Fun Fact: the Digimon Cyber Sleuth games that came out on the PS4 have the Gen 1 version of the Special stat, called INT. They've got ATK, DEF, and INT. I'm not sure why they thought that was a good idea.
I wonder if you enjoyed LGPE then, since that game has the phys/spec split, despite lacking most of the other battle mechanics you mentioned, and would be the only way for you to play through a Kanto storyline (excluding romhacks, of course) I wouldn't go as far as to outright ignore all of the games that don't have the split, since I can enjoy the silly broken mechanics that result from it, like Alakazam being able to use the elemental punches for coverage (which he is SEVERELY lacking after the split), or physical-oriented Pokemon being able to abuse Shadow Ball (because ghost is physical for some reason). It's completely unbalanced and nonsensical, but that's why makes it fun to exploit imo
During the Delta Episode, Rayquaza eats the Meteorite that you’ve been carrying since you beat Maxie / Archie on Mt. Chimney. And that Meteorite is actually Rayquaza’s Mega Stone. Moral of the story; if you want to transcend and achieve ultimate power, eat rocks.
Everyone talks about how great of remakes HGSS are- and rightfully so- but I feel ORAS often get overlooked as they are excellent remakes in my opinion. Maybe it's because the gen 3 games are still widely played. One thing you didn't really mention were the new mirage islands that can only be reached by flying on Mega Latios/Latias, which is an advantage they have over normal flying
They were both great remakes, but I think HGSS just added a little more to the originals, by including content from the third version, alongside brand new content (unique to HGSS), whereas ORAS didn't add quite as much from the third version. It still added a lot of great stuff though!
@@kryzethx remakes are not suppose to add a lot of stuff since they meant to be remakes. Crystal had almost nothing new compared to Platinum and Emerald so that is why the few things from Crystal was included.

Remakes are more for newer players who never experience the originals and third versions. ORAS didn't need most of Emerald since it was a Ruby and Sapphire remake but it failed at that anyway due to the many changes and additions that was put in. My opinion though. Agree to disagree. I am glad that you enjoyed HGSS and ORAS even though i don't like those two remakes.
Pokemon games need a "new game plus" feature where you can restart the game at your current level and Pokedex. But the enemies/trainers would be much more difficult and start at whatever your final level was.
I remember getting ORAS with my brother for Christmas, it was so special man I still have both our save files and I have maxed out time 999hrs 99mins, I love the hoenn region and I was so disappointed with BDSP bc I expected that game but in an ORAS fashion.
DexNav is so much fun. I love it. There's just something neat about finding Pokémon with egg moves, good IVs and especially hidden abilities. Moxie Mightyena is actually good. Brave Bird Taillow is very OP too. There are other things, but man, it's great. I do definitely miss the Battle Frontier. As the huge fan of it, it's just a shame not to bring. There was no reason not to either. But alas. At least they made breeding way way easier in this game. Now that I think about it though, I should do a Shedinja only run in ORAS too. Fair. I don't particularly like the 3DS pokemon games so I don't have a favorite from that specific console. I do consider gen 5 the best but those are DS games and not 3DS exclusive.
I bought omega ruby when it came out and lost it until earlier THIS YEAR. I wasn't worried about it because I didn't like the originals that mech and didn't think I'd like these either, man was I wrong. I loved this game sooooo freaking much that I'm actually mad at myself for not buying alpha sapphire as well
I prefer Steven but emerald did it that way because in the Manga Wallace was the champion and Steven just held it for him. And Juan was Wallace’s master
Actually, according to the game freak data leak recently. It talked about Rayquaza being able to mega evolve without a stone because basically he has like a special appendix and combined with eating the meteorites, reawaken the special appendix and caused him to mega evolve
Love these games. The sheer amount of times people comment on how attractive Steven is validates exactly what I thought when playing OG Sapphire. Soaring is amazing, love the Delta episode actually explaining Rayquaza, unlike Ruby and Sapphire. Having Steven's shiny Beldum unlock additional dialog is just chef's kiss. Negative? Changing the Maxie/Archie theme. Totally missed the purpose of that lone trumpet. Just about everyone remix works, but not theirs.
I love playing Oras since 2014, as it brings hoenn into 3d which the original weren’t in 3d before. As someone who hasn’t played Gen 3 originally and only which the anime since I was three in 2000 until 2007 when I played a Pokemon mainline game which was Pokemon Diamond in gen 4. I still think the special and physical split in the moves was still a a big change. Since certain moves were physical or special when some of them like shadow ball was physical move but drops special defense and should be a special attack. Plus many dark types in hoenn were physical dark types but couldn’t really use their physical dark type moves in gen 3. The physical and special spilt does help a lot of pokemon and moves. I can’t see Pokemon still using Pokemon moves before the physical and special spilt past gen 3. Oras also has unlimited tms as well which wasn’t a thing in gen 3. As well as hidden abilities as well.
I've been saying it for years but Mega Energy, Z-Power, yadda yadda basically all click if you just substitute out Radiation for whatever it's saying. In that sense, Rayquaza is able to mega evolve whenever because it eats meteors and lives above the Ozone Layer, meaning it absorbs the brunt of the sun's radiation directly. Mega stones are Radioactive, thats why they glow and are a byproduct of the Ultimate Weapon. They're also full of screaming ghosts, but lets not worry about it and instead focus on the Radiation idea
What's funny about Rayquaza eating it's mega stone is that it should be completely feasible for other pokemon to do it, like sableye, aagron, or Pidgeot It's just a gastrolith, a rock some reptiles and birds swallow to help with digestion
@@Solokeys-g7o Which game talks about Rayquaza's anatomy? I'd love to check it out The point of the mega stone consumption would be to hold items while being able to mega evolve, which is implied with Rayquaza being the only Pokemon in-game doing both. Pokemon are based on animals, so why wouldn't a bird or reptile pokemon be able to eat a mega stone for the same effect? It would parallel the actual phenomenon
People like to meme the whole "too much water" thing, but that's always been my biggest issue with these games! 😂 Ever since I played the originals as a kid, I hated just how much surfing was required, plus all the additional water-related HMs - Surf, Waterfall & Dive. I still love the games, especially ORAS, but the "too much water" will always ring true for me 😅
I agree with this you need to many HMs. I don’t know about the remakes as I have not played them. I like to plan my team out before playing and using Pokémon I haven’t used before. It is one of the reasons I never go back to the third Gen.
glad that you enjoyed these games. I don't like ORAS much but at least it is somewhat better than the Johto remakes. I prefer FRLG and BDSP level of remakes. But that is just me.
The latinas/is flying around feature was dope. Hidden legendaries based off who was in your party, etc. I was able to get all legendaries with just gen 6 games because of it. Ive played since Gen 1 and Gen 3 was always my favorite and it felt like ORAS was my favorite gens HGSS
I loved ORAS because it made me get over my distaste for the Hoenn region. I remember playing the originals and not liking them compared to either the generation before or the generation after, so I thought it was just a bad region. I think what I disliked were the battle mechanics, which felt like a regression compared to the DS games (which I unfortunately played first) I didn't think I would like ORAS, because I didn't like RSE, but it completely blew past my expectations, to the point where I could even go back enjoy the originals for what they were (and Emerald is still one of the best in the series imo)
i retired my pokemon alpha sapphire profile and finally moved on to violet. 999:59 hrs on the save. 3k+ hrs realistically on my 3ds. 673 pokemon in my national dex. First game iv played longer than 10 years.
About 15 years ago I found out that latias and latios are both post 5th gym roaming legendaries. I figured it was a weird glitch but it makes sense in the context of 5:55
Its cuz rayquaza has a special organ called the mikado organ which allows it to mega evolve without the need of a mega stone. Only a keystone is required.
One of the best games ever, competitive was fun, smogon rules were fun, the cut scenes were awesome they really gave us that imagination we had as kids
I love how much was added or reused from the original hoenn or expended upon. The ties with hoopa and the legendaries was cool. New megas was epic. The secret bases was so cool even the one in mossdeep city with the secret room that needed the e reader made a comeback with the qr codes from secret bases
You can talk about gen 6 all day (including the 3rd gen remakes) and I will listen to all of it. I love that generation SO MUCH. I've got two copies of each game because I want my "first run" save and a "I can reset this as many times as I want" game. I've done SO many Nuzlockes, it's nuts, but it also makes me really happy. EDIT: Aside from Gen 1, Pokemon Y was the first time I'd ever completed the National Dex. Completed. Because I could trade with a long-distance friend. Aww yeah.
I loved ORAS its my third favorite pokemon game of all time I still shiny hunt today in these game because dexnav is pretty chill (and its not a dumb sandwitch system) and breeding in the post is litary holding 1 button to move around the island
I played this game for the first time just a month ago and it's so good. They cut the painful backtracking part. Everything was so good. Mega evolution was the cherry on top
There is no excuse to why Flygon still can't Mega Evolve, especially when every other Dragon-type Pokémon in Hoenn can Mega Evolve. Even Sceptile is a Dragon-type Mega! Here are some other Gen 3 Pokémon who could also benefit from Mega Evolution; Ludicolo, Shiftry, Swellow, Slaking (mainly to have a better ability), Breloom, Exploud, Hariyama, Swalot, Crawdaunt, Wailord, Grumpig, Zangoose, Seviper, Tropius, and Walrein.
For me it was surprising how much just having the fixed mechanics like the physical/special split changed the enjoyment of the game. I do love going back to Emerald for nostalgia but just in terms of purely having fun time playing ORAS wins over the original games
Rayquaza can mega evolve without a mega stone because it ate its mega stone (the meteorite). The meteorite item actually somewhat looks like a mega stone if you look at it before getting rayquaza. I believe the pokedex in these games even states it eats meteorites to gain the energy it need to mega evolve
I don't understand why people would *hate* L=A feature; it's not the default, and it's pretty obvious what the intended use case is for it. I personally wouldn't ever use it (I need that LR functionality for faster box management), but it makes sense that it exists.
I wish the Gym leader team rosters were better, I will say, normal trainers got WAAAAAY better in ORAS, they would drop unnessasry mons, and like make trainers stronger, in victory road there were trainers with national dex mons too.
I like how Wally in the omega ruby and alpha sapphire the ruby and sapphire like I thought he going have gavdevoir to Megan evolve but he used a Gallade
The level gap isn’t that bad in my opinion but it’s still a flaw that should’ve changed it could’ve been the best pokemon game ever made if the gap was fixed but instead it’s a close second to platinum

We should all tag Pokemon on social media asking when Soon is in relation to the Battle Frontier picture
ORAS easily my favorite remakes (maybe the games I enjoyed most for Pokémon games)
ORAS had the unfortunate flaw of being based on a game with a million Rom Hacks that let it keep it's nostalgia whilst doing the same and more.
ORAS was a solid remake, needed Emerald's team set ups for the Gym leaders but other than that it did great for designs and story.
What's funny about Rayquaza eating it's mega stone is that it should be completely feasible for other pokemon to do it, like sableye, aagron, or Pidgeot
It's just a gastrolith, a rock some reptiles and birds swallow to help with digestion
Yeah but you also need a special organ called the mikado organ in order to mega evolve at will. Also the others could just.. eat other stones
@@Solokeys-g7o Which game talks about Rayquaza's anatomy? I'd love to check it out
The point of the mega stone consumption would be to hold items while being able to mega evolve, which is implied with Rayquaza being the only Pokemon in-game doing both. Pokemon are based on animals, so why wouldn't a bird or reptile pokemon be able to eat a mega stone for the same effect? It would parallel the actual phenomenon
@EpicShaymin oras actually. You could just use bulbapedia though
People like to meme the whole "too much water" thing, but that's always been my biggest issue with these games! 😂
Ever since I played the originals as a kid, I hated just how much surfing was required, plus all the additional water-related HMs - Surf, Waterfall & Dive.
This is the ONLY game I’ve played where I 100% completed the Pokédex
These are by far my favorite games. I have played through them many times. Every remake should be on the same level
glad that you enjoyed these games. I don't like ORAS much but at least it is somewhat better than the Johto remakes. I prefer FRLG and BDSP level of remakes. But that is just me.
@@JamiePokemonTrainerI also like BDSP.
I think what I disliked were the battle mechanics, which felt like a regression compared to the DS games (which I unfortunately played first)
I didn't think I would like ORAS, because I didn't like RSE, but it completely blew past my expectations, to the point where I could even go back enjoy the originals for what they were (and Emerald is still one of the best in the series imo)
i retired my pokemon alpha sapphire profile and finally moved on to violet. 999:59 hrs on the save. 3k+ hrs realistically on my 3ds. 673 pokemon in my national dex. First game iv played longer than 10 years.
My favorite pokemon games! I played both and enjoyed them so much
About 15 years ago I found out that latias and latios are both post 5th gym roaming legendaries. I figured it was a weird glitch but it makes sense in the context of 5:55
L=A mentioned! Let’s go!!!
Its cuz rayquaza has a special organ called the mikado organ which allows it to mega evolve without the need of a mega stone. Only a keystone is required.
Fun fact: If you win a master beauty contest with Wallace and Lisia in it you get a unique cutscene where they interact.
Ok that bit at 14:30 was fucking hilarious 😂 please more of that in future vids
0:20 I do, so if you throw them away like I only have Shining Pearl. Would appreciate the game a lot cuz I love gen 4 + the remakes
Keep randomly shiny hunting each video. Do it more than once per video. It rocks.
Flying around to secret islands was a great experience
Love you Papa
One of the best games ever, competitive was fun, smogon rules were fun, the cut scenes were awesome they really gave us that imagination we had as kids
I love how much was added or reused from the original hoenn or expended upon. The ties with hoopa and the legendaries was cool. New megas was epic. The secret bases was so cool even the one in mossdeep city with the secret room that needed the e reader made a comeback with the qr codes from secret bases
5:00 the double music is killing me
I feel like I have seen a video like this every year XD love the content tho
You can talk about gen 6 all day (including the 3rd gen remakes) and I will listen to all of it. I love that generation SO MUCH. I've got two copies of each game because I want my "first run" save and a "I can reset this as many times as I want" game. I've done SO many Nuzlockes, it's nuts, but it also makes me really happy. EDIT: Aside from Gen 1, Pokemon Y was the first time I'd ever completed the National Dex. Completed. Because I could trade with a long-distance friend. Aww yeah.
Omega Ruby is my childhood! :D
I loved ORAS its my third favorite pokemon game of all time
I still shiny hunt today in these game because dexnav is pretty chill (and its not a dumb sandwitch system) and breeding in the post is litary holding 1 button to move around the island
I played this game for the first time just a month ago and it's so good. They cut the painful backtracking part. Everything was so good. Mega evolution was the cherry on top
I thought I was the only that I'm playing this video game 10 years later ❤😂
There is no excuse to why Flygon still can't Mega Evolve, especially when every other Dragon-type Pokémon in Hoenn can Mega Evolve. Even Sceptile is a Dragon-type Mega!
Here are some other Gen 3 Pokémon who could also benefit from Mega Evolution;
Ludicolo, Shiftry, Swellow, Slaking (mainly to have a better ability), Breloom, Exploud, Hariyama, Swalot, Crawdaunt, Wailord, Grumpig, Zangoose, Seviper, Tropius, and Walrein.
Currently playing it for the first time i love it
For me it was surprising how much just having the fixed mechanics like the physical/special split changed the enjoyment of the game. I do love going back to Emerald for nostalgia but just in terms of purely having fun time playing ORAS wins over the original games
You look like Steve from American Dad in the thumbnail.
Gen 3 > button
Currently playing Pokémon omega ruby myself L O L
This video's title inflicted emotional damage.
Would of being better to take more stuff from Emerald including the Battle Frontier, could of there in addition to the ORAS post story
ORAS set the bar much higher than just nostalgia alone, but then GF stopped caring and outsourced the disaster that is BDSP
I've basically lost a decade of my life. I still feel barely older than 18.
SHUT UP! IT HAS NOT BEEN 10 YEARS!!! LALALALALALAALA IM NOT LISTENING!
I can’t believe it either. I actually just recently started playing Omega Ruby again using traded Pokémon.
I like how Wally in the omega ruby and alpha sapphire the ruby and sapphire like I thought he going have gavdevoir to Megan evolve but he used a Gallade
Was about to boot up my copy of omega ruby when I saw this lmao
I'd love to see you challenge yourself on the Battle Frontier and revisit it to try to get some silver medals! Future vid idea? Please? ❤
You should make a video trying the emerald battle frontier. Its peak
am I the only one who sees groudon as pre Y and kyogre as pre X?
Oras is my favorite Pokemon game
Time is going too fast man
The level gap isn’t that bad in my opinion but it’s still a flaw that should’ve changed it could’ve been the best pokemon game ever made if the gap was fixed but instead it’s a close second to platinum
