i just ordered one, probably would have been wiser to first watch this video but i trust Creality because i also have a creality 3d printer and thus assume all of their stuff is great
Thanks for watching. I thought the same way. I love their 3d printers and you are right their Laser Engraver is just as thought out as their printers. You shouldn't be disappointed.
It's still working great! I am definitely happy with it. I think I might try adding a camera to better align projects and possibly a rotary tool to do cups.
Thanks for the vid. Can I ask what thickness was your test wood? Also I need an engraver not just for cutting but partially hollowing out shapes. For instance if i have a 5mm wood i would need a circle hollowed out 3mm deep. Do you think this to be suitable?
Hey, thanks for watching and asking! The test piece was probably about 5-6mm of Cherry. With the right settings, you could cut 3mm deep into 5mm wood. I haven’t had any issues engraving deeply into material; it really depends on the type of material you’re using.
This isn’t one of my designs I found it online on a free website when I first got the machine before I knew how to make designs myself. You can find it on this site: free-dxf.com/design-love-floral-hearts-sign/free-download-dxf-cdr-ai-svg/844jm
I haven’t engraved brass, but it did a great job on some powder coated aluminum fishing tools, my everyday utility knife blade and some other metal shop tools.
What thickness basswood are you trying to cut? 3mm(1/8") I set my 12w to 250mm at 100% and sometimes have to do 2 passes but it will cut. I have even cut 1/4" ply using 5 passes. You will also need the air assist on to avoid any burning.

What software do you have to use on the computer?
I'm currently using LightBurn - lightburnsoftware.com/
How well does it do engraving brass metal
I haven’t engraved brass, but it did a great job on some powder coated aluminum fishing tools, my everyday utility knife blade and some other metal shop tools.
Great !!
Awesome, thanks for the positive vibes!
This thing will not engrave these small pieces of wood it engraves on this foam board but not basswood

@@wilmerwoodworks How thick of wood can you cut. e.g. 1/8" ply. or basswood? I thought it said it would cut 10mm? in one pass.
Does this model is suitable for various type of paper/ cardboard cutting ?
@@ddsouza3382 Yes this can easily cut cardboard as for paper I'm sure it is but I haven't tried it yet but have future projects involving paper.
