    Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel! Today, we'll be reviewing the Creality Falcon 2 22W laser engraver. While most of you may have heard of 10W and 20W diode lasers, you might be wondering about a 22W laser module. It's essentially the same as a 20W module, which combines four 5W modules by focusing them together and producing a more powerful laser output.
    Now, let's take a closer look at the features of the Falcon 2. Unlike generic open-frame laser engravers that use standard aluminum extrusions to form the frame, the Falcon 2 has a customized frame that's more rigid, allowing the laser module to move at 25,000mm/m. While engraving at that high speed may not always yield optimal results, we'll test it out later. The engraver also has a built-in air assist powered by the machine itself, eliminating the need for an additional air pump and nozzle on the laser module. The air flow can be adjusted using a knob located at the side of the machine.
    Although it doesn't come with a touch screen, the Falcon 2 supports offline engraving. When you press the frame button, the machine reads the latest file on the micro SD card and continuously displays a preview frame of your job so you can position the material accordingly. Once you're ready, simply click the play button to start the job.
    Some of the safety features include an emergency stop button, a sensor to halt the machine if it tilts or drops, and a lock to prevent unauthorized use. There are also three LED light indicators on the laser module that monitor air flow, flame detection, and whether the lens of the laser module needs cleaning.
    Overall, the features of the Falcon 2 look promising. I would like to thank Creality for sending us this machine for review. And with that, let's get started.

    Very comprehensive video, well done. I agree with the need for a screen wholeheartedly. I purchased this machine and am just getting to know Lightburn. I have a well equipped hoghy wood shop and use a CNC machine for other projects as well. This is a great addition. Than you for sharing your points. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. Hi Aurora, can you do a video for your top printers, 1 for budget, high end, idex, sla, all in 1 etc. Also can you add speeds of printers, as I noticed some printers are much faster than others

    What is that mat you have under the laser? I am concerned that if I go to cut something, it will hurt the surface that the machine is sitting on. I'm not quite sure what to put under it to protect the table.

    What would be the recommandation bewteen Falcon 2 and Xtools D1 Pro (both 20W/22W) when die Falcon 2 is around 40% cheaper. Both Systems calculated complete costs including rotary and air assist... In numbers e645 vs €1070 .... I would prefer steel rails - but is this worth couple of hundred €?

    What is the laser tent you used? Was it from Creality or 3rd party?
    Have you tried to engrave or cut metal yet? The marketing blurb claims it can cut 0.05 mm stainless steel.

    • @mrfoameruk
      @mrfoameruk ปีที่แล้ว

      And the 40w can do "Magical colorful engraving"... Dont believe their promos. Only go on reviews as to what they can actually do. You may be able to etch it but usually, a black paint is applied and then burning the black in creates heat in the steel that marks it. Sending a laser to bare metal will usually do nothing. And I don't know what the use of 1/20mm steel is..Not even jewellery. I'm going for the elegoo phecda Kickstarter. A company that has a good reputation.

    You mentioned not being able to cut clear acrylic. Is this something that’s not possible, not recommended, or difficult? Can you do it if you put a black metal plate beneath the acrylic? If not, is there a mid range price, like this one, laser engraver that you would recommend?

    • @Dipzer0
      @Dipzer0 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not possible with diode lasers, if you want to cut clear acrylic u need a co2 laser

    • @atunah86
      @atunah86 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not possible with standard diode lasers. These lasers emit visible light so they can´t cut or even engrave materials that are transparent for visible light, like glas or clear acrylic. The same counts for materials that reflect visible light completely. So white Paper is also difficult to engrave or cut.
      You can try to engrave clear acrylic with the help of a dark coating, but cutting will be impossible.
      CO2 Lasers emit a different wavelenght of the light, so these machines can cut with no problems clear Acrylic. You can search for "K40" Lasers, but they are really cheap made and you have to tinker much on these machines. The K40s are selled here in Germany around 500€, better made machines start in sales at 2500€. But if you have to cut clear acrylic, you have to go with CO2 Lasers.

    • @andrewwatts1997
      @andrewwatts1997 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It has to do with the wavelength of the diode laser. CO2 lasers and diode lasers have very different wavelenghts, they both have their advantages for different materials.

    Hello, I have seen that the manufacturer promises to engrave with color with this machine but so far I have not seen anyone do it in their tests. Is there special software to be able to engrave with color?

    • @andrewwatts1997
      @andrewwatts1997 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can NOT engrave color. The only color you can gain is by burning the material with different laser strengths. 100% for deep black 50% for gray 0% for white. It will always be black and white.

    • @davidbball13
      @davidbball13 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not possible to engrave "colors" but it can do different shades of dark.

    • @AFistfulOf4K
      @AFistfulOf4K ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davidbball13 I used an industrial diode laser engraver, it IS possible to mark the surface of metals with color. I think what's happening is you're causing the surface to oxidize and it affects the wavelength of light that's reflected. Depending on how you configure the laser, you can create blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, maybe other shades. I can't say if it's truly possible with this specific model, but I'd say it's premature to rule it out.

      You can engrave color on steel/iron and other metals. the color engraved depends on the power used on the engraving. There are lots of videos on YT now of people using the Falcon 2 for exactly that.

    We usually speak in terms of mm/sec
    25000 mm /min was a bit of a shock.
    417 mm/sec sound much better, lol
