I wasn't a big fan of the White Scars either, mainly due to ignorance. After reading the Rogue Trader Omnibus, that has changed. I'm still a Space Wolves and Salamanders fan, but I have a new respect for the Scars.
It was less telling dorn to stuff it, and more reminding him that not every legions are his fists and not every primarch is himself. They each have a purpose and a particular specialty. Dorn had started to lose sight of that toward the end of the siege. He respected Dorn’s needs and plans to defend the palace, but suspected he would be of more use doing what he knew best, and sanguinius confirmed it.

In my head he's gathered up a bunch of other White Scars, and it's rather like the bit in Lord of the Rings where Theoden leads the charge out of Helms Deep. Only in this case, with motorbikes and a lot more guns.

After reading Scars, I realized that I really liked the White Scars and the Khagan. Currently working my way through Warhawk of Chogoris, and Path of Heaven is up next on my list. This just serves to heighten my appreciation for the V Legion
I started reading the horus Heresy books and Primarch novels largely because i want to read Warhawk of chogoris. But, I am not skipping line. Every fourish books of the Heresy, i read a Primarch novel. I am 20 books in the Heresy, and currently on Lorgar's novel. I started back in July.
Everybody underestimates Jaghatai because he embodies the Mongol way of life, but beyond the Nomadic and seemingly barbaric way of life lies a LOT of sophistication and intelligence, he's one of my favourites because of that

That's because Genghis Khan was a very rational man all considered, cruel to those who opposed him, reasonable to those who bended the knee or allied with him. I mean, he would still be considered a genocidal mass murderer by today's standards, but for a Mongolian Warlord with the biggest horde ever assembled and hundreds of warlords under him, still pretty reasonable all considered. Some of the tribes Genghis was the suzerein of were rather...savage. Talking bestiality and cannibalism on the good days. Imagine having to deal with that 😅
The Khan is the best primarch hands down. He sees the flaws of Big E, sees the even bigger flaws in the alternative, tries to make the best of what he is given for mankind.... just overall leagues above his brothers as a character
Bring back a few other primarcs and then have The Khan show up to "sew chaos" by pointing out the flaws and alternative paths. Gillimun and Sanguinis (if he comes back) will listen and Russ will be laughing because while he is like a wild dog, he and his sons will care about the people. They literally to war against the Inquisition.mad respect there.

Feel like it wouldn't be a unique trait for him to see the negative aspects of the Imperium now. Both Guilliman and Lion have matured tons, and see errors in the way they led and with the Imperium. I can't see any loyalists son liking the modern Imperium.

They may be Chosen of Emperor and millenia olds, but High Lords of Terra along with Ecclesiarchy are far, far too entrenched, their dogma far too buried, and they faaar too comfy with current status quo in Imperium to be moved in any way, shape or form. So, Custodes can only do one thing. Protect Emperor and Terra while hoping for better times
I like how instead of one side being clearly wrong it’s truly a dilemma that doesn’t really have a correct answer. The loyalists’ best bet is to hold fast until the Dark Angels and Ultramarines arrive but there’s no telling *when* they will arrive and in the meantime the people of Terra are being massacred and brutalized by the traitors while their sworn protectors hide behind the walls of the palace. The Death Guard and Iron Warriors are also the meanest besiegers of all the legions, doubly so the DG after Nurgle got involved. A rapid attack from the two best fast attackers, white scars and blood angels, might knock them off balance or it might be playing straight into their hand.
Yeah the writing is top notch. There is no right answer or even a smart answer and everyone is equal parts right and wrong in their methods and are making their decisions based on their past, temperament and personality.
The emperors children made both the IW and the DG look tame as far as civilian treatment went during the siege of Terra . . . And they started early too as soon as the siege started they just ran off to make new types of war crimes.

The Khan's greatest strength: is that people under estimate him. For he does not shout his accomplishments to the heaven. For the greatest advantage in combat, is not letting your opponent know what you're capable of.
If the big E would have allowed his sons to do the deed, I can tell you: men and women alike would wait in line at Sanguinius door to get some of that angelic di**, while the rest would sit in their lounge, drinking something strong and knowing that they only get someone after said person was waiting for Sanguinius. They are basically second choice campared to their brother.
It’s just Sangy’s effect on everyone around him. He has some sort of aura that makes ppl trust him and thankfully he is a wholly good person who would never abuse that trust. Even Angron felt his anger muted in the presence of Sanguinius
"Then I will ride out" Every time i read this bit from the book i just love him more. He really did the best he could under all circumstances, and very few of his brothers really recognised his greatness at most of the times. Some, like guilliman, were even suspicious of his free spirited nature. But that free spiritedness and the ability to think for himself with clarity is what helped him make all the right decisions during the Horus heresy. When the khagan returns, and he will soon, hopefully with a host of harlequins in company, it'll be one hell of a sight to see.

That's why you have a meeting of equals, to have those differences of opinion. Both Dorn and the Khan were right, which is why war is always messy, we can only do what we feel is right.

Would explain why he's Primarch tier, unlike say the Horus clone. It would also answer the question about whether the Emperor stuffed daemon (or similar) souls into the Primarchs when making them.
Finding out what Jagatai is up to would be interesting. He's one of only a few Primarchs with common sense so buggering off like he did (even with good reason) is questionable.
You can see it can't you LOL on a battlefield against the chaos legions the lion and Gilman being pushed back by the red Angel and mortarion just when the Imperium forces are about to declare retreat a portal of the webway opens in the middle of the battlefield Dark Eldar run out screaming and bloody and then the battlefield goes silent with a thundering roar of an engine echoing across the battlefield coming from the the portal and then they hear the echo of laughter the great Khan has returned! White scars pour from the webway the khan screeches across the the battlefield pushing both mortarion and the red Angel away stops his jet bikes in front of his two Brothers looks down at Gilman and the lion with a smile
The Siege of Terra was truly Jhagatai Khan's finest hour. Dorn decision isn't even a terrible one here, but he's trying to wield the White Scars as though they were Imperial Fists.

And to think, so many of the Kagahns brothers viewed him as a calous mysterious asshole, posessed of strange flighty moods, and uncaring for any but his own legion. Standoffish with his brothers, was only consistently respectful to Horus, and barely obeyed Big E while being openly critical of many of his plans and way of ruling. It's no wonder people thought he was gonna be a traitor. Some even thought he was on his way to Terra to reinforce Horus. But he showed who he really was in that most darkest of times. He let his brothers see what only his Legion had seen. That he truly cared. About the Imperium, about Terra, about its people. Just because he never liked being a part of the Imperium, just because he didnt agree with what almost anyone else did, because he could see from the beginning how hypocritical and damaging the Imperium was despite the necessity of it, didn't mean he would abandon it. He all but left the Imperium when he realized he'd never have a proper place in it, but he came running back when it was in trouble.
Jag was so ridiculously righteous and pragmatic at all times it’s inspiring. The man was one of the very few characters that made no real mistakes and the ones he did make were understandable with the information he had at hand. I don’t like white scars but I love The Khan.

Every time i read this bit from the book i just love him more. He really did the best he could under all circumstances, and very few of his brothers really recognised his greatness at most of the times. Some, like guilliman, were even suspicious of his free spirited nature. But that free spiritedness and the ability to think for himself with clarity is what helped him make all the right decisions during the Horus heresy.
When the khagan returns, and he will soon, hopefully with a host of harlequins in company, it'll be one hell of a sight to see.

That's why you have a meeting of equals, to have those differences of opinion. Both Dorn and the Khan were right, which is why war is always messy, we can only do what we feel is right.

@@LoneSilverW0lf it would be interesting and it might be how we find out if the theory about Clonegrim has the OG Fulgrim soul is right or not. Would explain why he's Primarch tier, unlike say the Horus clone. It would also answer the question about whether the Emperor stuffed daemon (or similar) souls into the Primarchs when making them.
Finding out what Jagatai is up to would be interesting. He's one of only a few Primarchs with common sense so buggering off like he did (even with good reason) is questionable.
You can see it can't you LOL on a battlefield against the chaos legions the lion and Gilman being pushed back by the red Angel and mortarion just when the Imperium forces are about to declare retreat a portal of the webway opens in the middle of the battlefield Dark Eldar run out screaming and bloody and then the battlefield goes silent with a thundering roar of an engine echoing across the battlefield coming from the the portal and then they hear the echo of laughter the great Khan has returned! White scars pour from the webway the khan screeches across the the battlefield pushing both mortarion and the red Angel away stops his jet bikes in front of his two Brothers looks down at Gilman and the lion with a smile

The White Scar are badly underrated and deserve far greater respect and recognition for their courage and conviction during the Heresy

The Siege of Terra was truly Jhagatai Khan's finest hour. Dorn decision isn't even a terrible one here, but he's trying to wield the White Scars as though they were Imperial Fists.
If GW really wanted to suprise and hype me up, have the Khan be the next returning Primarch.

My favorite Primarch will always be Roboute Guilliman, but Jaghatai holds a special place in my heart.

What are my favourite things about the modern Warhammer community is how much we’re loving on the White Scars.
I've loved and played them since 3rd edition, so it's nice seeing them getting more recognition.
Definitely a great trio of characters.
Loyal Primarchs were simply chef's kiss while the traitor once are edgy man-children. Khan whooped the upgraded version of Mortarion.

As a big fan of Chris Wraight's White Scars, he was the lone shining beacon in the mess that the Siege series had become.

What a hero! Truly bad ass, I realy appreciate how Jagatei evolved from an unkown speed demon to a john wick
And to think, so many of the Kagahns brothers viewed him as a calous mysterious asshole, posessed of strange flighty moods, and uncaring for any but his own legion. Standoffish with his brothers, was only consistently respectful to Horus, and barely obeyed Big E while being openly critical of many of his plans and way of ruling. It's no wonder people thought he was gonna be a traitor. Some even thought he was on his way to Terra to reinforce Horus. But he showed who he really was in that most darkest of times. He let his brothers see what only his Legion had seen. That he truly cared. About the Imperium, about Terra, about its people. Just because he never liked being a part of the Imperium, just because he didnt agree with what almost anyone else did, because he could see from the beginning how hypocritical and damaging the Imperium was despite the necessity of it, didn't mean he would abandon it. He all but left the Imperium when he realized he'd never have a proper place in it, but he came running back when it was in trouble.

I always enjoyed how Jaghatai had a sense of freedom and putting people first.
I love the Khan. He roasted Fulgrim part is one of the most enjoyable scene when even Sanguinius can't hold back his laughter.

Jag was so ridiculously righteous and pragmatic at all times it’s inspiring. The man was one of the very few characters that made no real mistakes and the ones he did make were understandable with the information he had at hand.
I don’t like white scars but I love The Khan.

Khan is the greatest (still living) primarch. Dudes an absolute mad lad and I love him for it.
