Ti leaf lei (and almost any other lei) can be given and worn for multiple reasons. Usually you will see men wearing a ti lei as it is a bit more masculine than the commercial flower lei you will see on tv and in movies. This is a great lei to give to someone for their birthday, if they are a member of a wedding party, or maybe it's graduation and you need to make a bunch of leis for a lot of people in a fairly short amount of time.
Aloha Jessica, Guess What?? I made my first Ti leaf lei!! It came out so beautiful, thanks to you! I have many Ti leaf plants in my yard, so yes, I will be making plenty. I love the music, "Fiji-Chant Of The Islands." Take care and much Aloha to you always! Donna
@@drosegum awwww how amazing! I’m so glad my video helped! Aloha nui 🩷
Oh my goodness in Heaven Jessica, You blessed me today with this video and the song by Fiji. (first I've heard of him and the group). Thanks so much for posting both - I have a new singer to love and learn about now....
I miss my days stationed in Hawaii... Thanks for everything: Keith - US Navy Veteran - Boston, MA
Sorry I'm so late responding -- I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I actually made this while stationed in Japan!! :) one of my friends from Hawaii was leaving us, so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and make a tutorial. I hope you get to try making a ti lei one day!! Aloha!
Blessings & Thanks. You did a great job with the Lei and the video too. Congratulations on the new baby, I saw some of your videos. I was stationed in Long Beach & Pearl Harbor, in which branch were you stationed? (Hope to hear, take care) Keith Boston, MA
This was very helpful. Thank you.
You’re welcome! I’m glad it was helpful!
Also if you dont have an IRON then you can put it in the freezer for 3 to 4 hours.
Good to know! Mahalo for watching & sharing that info!
😍
Camera angle is such that we cannot see how the leaves are twisted together. We see the backs of her hands moving.
Sorry about the poor filming and angles!! I was in such a rush that day to make a lei before a friend's going away dinner that I just wanted to capture as much as possible, even if that meant poor angles :( But I appreciate you leaving a comment! I will make another video with different types of leis in the future. Blessings & aloha :)
Hello dea nice share please stay connected
How to make hair se'i
Could not really see full view of twisting, bad camera angle, should be in front or sideways. Result is pretty.
I know, I'm so sorry. I was in a rush that day to make the lei, and I wanted to capture as much of the process as possible. The leaves were really thin and small -- not what I'm used to working with! I will definitely make another video with better shooting angles and better leaves! Thank you for your comment :)

Nice, but sure wish you could see what she was doing more so than her hands. Camera angle was awful. Still helpful. Mahalo
@@drosegum lol it was awful 🤣 I was in such a rush that day AND I was a new mom, by myself in Japan with not the best materials. Thanks for watching & commenting! I’m glad it was helpful despite my terrible angles 😅
@@JessicaHolmes Aloha Jessica, No worries, and congratulations of becoming a new mom!! My hats off to you for doing all this alone and in Japan. You are amazing, and keep up the videos! Much love and Aloha to you. Donna
Bad camera angle. Can't see how it's (actually) done.
Yup - sorry. I’ve responded to this type of comment. See below 😊 Aloha!
making ti leis
Just microwave them
Wow! I didn’t know you could do that! I didn’t have a microwave when I lived in Japan (where I filmed this video), but now I do. Mahalo for the tip!
@@JessicaHolmes no thank you as well I totally forgot how to make these lei’s and I learned from you great video
This video doesn't help much when all we can see is the back of your hand making a twisting motion. It would be more helpful if we can see how the leaves are tied together and you explain the process rather than use a few caption words and play a Fiji song in the background.
I agree! Thank you for your feedback. Due to personal circumstances at the time, that was the best I could do. Aloha!
Video not to clean of what youte doing
You’re right. I was in a rush with a newborn while making this in a Japanese apartment 🥴 thanks for watching, though!
