man, you having "internet" connection speed of 60mbps has nothing to do with how chromecast works. it uses your home router's "internal" network speed. so you might have your internet down (0 mbps) but still casting offline stuff (photos, stored videos, etc) smoothly from your phone to the TV.
Screen mirroring feature does not work on most old phones & tablets like S3, Tab 2 7"", Hudl, Samsung Tab 4 10". Android version should be 4.4.2 or higher. So check your devices first before buying this. The only reason I bought it is the screen mirror. I'm taking it back for a refund. I already can watch TH-cam, Netflix, BBCiPlayer, 4OD etc. on my PS3. Its $35 in US and in UK its £30???? WTF!!!!
+Sam Hewitt Haha.. aaand if you upgrade your phone you'll be locked into a bloated slower phone, too! With no sd support or removable battery! As it is my 5.0 on S3 is a great audio player. But my debloated safestrapped Note 3 suffices for having a bigger screen.
I'm really surprised these things are so popular. I can understand someone using if if they don't have a T.V. that's able to connect it to a computer, but most modern T.V.s can connect directly, so there's no need for any third party hardware.
Is it possible to just mirror your Netflix using the Chromecast without Wi-Fi I don't have any type of service because I live in an apartment and I haven't set anything up but I do have a smartphone would that be enough ?

Any way to prevent this hockey puck from defaulting to only 1080p? I need it to limit it to 240p, because its eating up the 20gigs per month of internet data trying to watch youtube with it on the tv from an ipad and even for a android based phone. Is that a hidden adjust option, or am I stuck with just 1080p? The design seems lame with having such a simple meaningful adjustment. Please help if you can. Thanx

Inside the Chromecast App, slide the drawer from the left, and select "Cast Screen/Audio". Hit that button, then select the Chromecast you'd like to cast to. My chromecast works for my phone and with the GearVR but the audio is coming ENTIRELY through the tv speakers and none through my headphones thus ruining the immersion in the virtual reality. How can I fix this?
I'm still not clear on the purpose of this device you still have to have a service provider as even NBC app ask's your provider.If you do not have a paid service like directv or Comcast you only get to see a few clips of a liked show or live New's or Late show.This is why we are still slaves to paid TV I don't mind waiting a year for Netflix because even the show's on Syfy and others are showing 8 to 10 weeks then a 1year break Like Mr.Robot If it's just streaming by the time you buy Netflix Hulu Amazon prime as usa and Syfy are dividing up there show's with these 3 your paying about the same as a little over base package's except your not selecting over every sales channel you don't want.Please let me know why I need this thanks deb

I am at the moment searching out an alternative to greedy Sky ( but do not like Tivo boxes). What do you recomend for two separate viewing sources which have recording capabilities (with good storage capacity) which is not to complicated to use as we are both in our 70,s.
one question that kept me worried, technically is it like our casting device is sending data packets to internet and then Chromecast 2 / Chromecast is downloading those packets to finally convert them to HDMI input for TV? if this is the thing then we are burning up my data pack 2 ways. Please correct me if I am wrong. (U might find me a bit conservative asking this question but in countries like India, I still want be sure about my data usage)
Good review :) But you forgot to mention multi-screen casting, which makes it possible for the chromecast to show different screens og different devices. As a game developer i can see many applications of this, for example casting a game to the TV and only having a contoller on your phone or like a WiiU having different players share the TV multiplayer but each player having individual stats on their phones.

excellent piece of kit.. get it setup properly so just run it off mobile hotspot and it literally makes all sky/cable etc tv packages mute.. with a few well chosen android apps i.e terrarium tv and few other cracked sky apps and viola no need for over priced £100 a month sky bills.. love it very portable when just running off 1 mobile phone

Hello, i installed google chromecast to my TV and connected it to the google chrome browser of my computer. Then turned my pc off and the next day i tried to turn on my pc but nothing. No response. i press the turn on button a lot of times but my pc seems dead. It cant be turned on. I dont know what happened.

The USB port on the back of the TV says "Service Only" (yes it's an older TV). Does this mean I can't power the Chromcast from it?
