I always found it odd how nobody seems to ever talk about how the clouds in Sunshine vaguely look like Yoshi. I guess that just means it's either really common knowledge or that I'm the only one who seemed to notice.

Actually I find the second section of Bubble Breeze Galaxy easier to farm star-bits, just turn around, look in the sky and get 48 star-bits, jump in the goop to rinse and repeat. And getting the star is easy too since you can just back jump onto the boundary and long jump over to the star.

I personally feel that Galaxy 2 might end up being DLC. Just a theory, but a possibility.

Also, another small fun fact, pointing your cursor over butterflies will make 1 starbit pop out. Along with that, butterflies will follow your cursor a decent distance away.
I actually tried to do a run with my cousin in super mario sunshine 2 player mode and it was really challenging. One player would control flood and movement while the other player controls the camera and the jump button. Since we could interrupt each others inputs. It was impossible to use the rocket and turbo nozzle while the other player jumps. It took nearly 3 hours to do all of Bianca Hills shines. Also it took a lot of coordination to backflip and spin jump.
There's also a pretty weird technique in Galaxy 2, "the long jump kick". To do it, you have to perform the long jump and the spin attack simultaneously. It's a lot harder than it looks, and doesn't seem all that useful really. I mainly know this trick from the tutorial DVD that came with Super Mario Galaxy 2, where it was demonstrated on some Hammer Bros. With the long jump kick, the player was able to stun and defeat the Hammer Bros. in quick succession.

“Moist damp land” that’s just called Atlantis during two periods of time
Peach having eyeballs as earrings is maybe a cutsence (as well as some others) are from beta builds, and were finished quickly without changing or fixing textures and errors.
My favorite “Easter Egg” in Mario 64 is in the second star for Whomp Fortress. If you go to the base of the tower with the bullet bill and punch one of the sides of the tower, there is a secret 1UP behind the wall. I like it because it’s a “You either know it or you don’t” kind of Easter egg.
I’ve played and loved SM64 for years but I never knew that you could move the camera at the end cutscene! I learn something new all the time.
The double N64 Mario would be a great speed running thing!!! Nathiel Bandy and Simpleflips try to speed run Mario 64 in Mario All Stars on the same console. That would be funny.
7:47 Fun Fact: Staryu, a Pokemon, was rumored to be an alien or a being from space and, as the name suggests, hes star shaped just like the main star inside the pokeball and the starbits inside look similar to starmie the evolved form of staryu. Hope that was useful!

When you talked about two people figting for control of mario and reminded me that me and a friend of mine did a challenge where my friend used the left controller while I used the right controller
0:17 So I did some research, and the 3 games presented in 3d all stars were the first 3 3d Mario games in terms of release date (not including 64 ds due to it being a remake, it was released in between sunshine and galaxy). So we could potentially get galaxy 2 and 3d land on the series' 40th anniversary
Mario 64 also resets your extra life counter every time you rest the game. I noticed this while playing it on the 3D All-Stars collection.

I just started a Galaxy 2 playthrough a couple of days ago and... It straight up wouldn't work on Switch, like, in portable mode, it'd be actually unplayable.
Because in Galaxy 1, you VERY rarely need to move and point at the same time, but in Galaxy 2, that's like 50% of the game, mostly because of Yoshi.

Challenge mode idea for the SM64 controllers.
One person uses their controller for the Camera and Movement. The other can only use the action buttons to Jump, kick, ground pound, etc. Madness ensues.

Well yes, but actually no. Mostly yes. Point is; its the first chance people have to play Sunshine & Galaxy 1 without having to buy a copy of either game / console as those still cost big $. While I wish they had done more to make the collection special, I can't ignore that it has some pro's.

About a year ago, on Wii Galaxy, my sister and I actually used Sling Pod Galaxy to farm Star Bits, and extra lives XD
Little did people know that Super Mario Sunshine was in widescreen when it came out. Also widescreen TVs weren't very common back then. In short, Nintendo were very ahead of their time.

All the mario games if I'm not mistaken, do the whole lives reset thing which is real annoying. First session of 64 and I had 53 lives, 30ish stars in. Was real confused to see it reset. Surprised to see the peach earrings mentioned, and to that degree the debug cubes for theoving platforms in sunshine being visable, which was an issue with ported versions of the game.
Only the 2d ones and 3d land and 3d world don't reset your lives

On that very last bit, you said life's reset when you restart your save. Does that mean you can continously fail a level, but save, quit, reload and try again without getting a game over? Or does it only apply when you have 5+ lives?
