Nah, this theme is WAY more orchestrated than the original, which was just probably a few instruments thrown together (not saying that the original is bad though). The Dark Moon Theme for E. Gadd’s lab is an entire orchestra.

There's also references to 2 horror movies in the Twisted Suites, and another Dark Moon easter egg there too. In the left most hallway, the rug is the same from the Shining, and I've heard the tile is also from another horror movie. In the room where the key gets possessed by spirit balls there's a table to the left that's covered in cloth. If you remove it you'll find the table is actually a fish tank, and inside is a model of the Gloomy Manor. I've also noticed that throughout the hotel is the same painting of the Gloomy Manor with the Dark Moon above it.
The lobby theme variations aren't limited to Mario, Peach & Toad: The Basement/F1 theme plays when you're talking to the bellhop at the front desk, since he's the boss of the first area. The game's main theme also plays when Hellen Gravely greets you.
I sucked up Morty without knowing he can actually finish his movie so now the director room is empty, and movie is not ready :.(
I honestly hope he survived the end of the game even if you spared him. Although considering he's a ghost that can phase through things I assume he is. He still lost his equipment though. A shame

For the radio, the second song played is actually an homage to Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, as it is identical to the theme played in the lab (which is the menu) for that game.

I like to think of Luigi’s Mansion 3DS as the second timeline. If they were to make a remake of Dark Moon, it’s should also take place in the second timeline

There is a Splatoon Easter egg in the boiler works. In the room directly underneath the elevator, you can find a collection of paint buckets. If you destroy them, they create painst splatters in the colors green, purple, and orange.
I'm pretty sure they're just simple buckets of paint and not a Splatoon reference ._.

I don’t know if someone has already said this but in the pirate level if you look at the wall that is painted to look like the sky you can see a replication of The Dark Moon nailed or something to the wall.

That poster in egadd's room isn't the poltergust 3000, it's the poltergust G-00. You can clearly see the tube-container-thingy on the poster that the G-00 uses to store gooigi.
And it looks like it actually says Poltergust 7000 instead of 3000 (which in some way makes sense since it went from the Poltergust 3000 to the Poltergust 5000 in Luigi's Mansion and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon)

Gloomy Manor Easter egg was cool but I feel like they should’ve done original mansion

I’m pretty sure the lights that flicker in some of the rooms are also Morse code, also just to note, Luigi appears skeptical of The Last Resort, looking confused around the “employees” and his first option for checking in and going to rest is “No”, he doesn’t wanna check in, and doesn’t wanna rest cause he knows Ghosts come out at night. Also, the first letters of the five basic ghosts’s names spell GHOST. Goob, Hammer, Oozer, Slinker, Trapper. This is also done with the possessors in Dark Moon. Grouchy Possessor, Harsh Possessor, Overset Possessor, Shrewd Possessor and Tough Possessor.

If you use the thing that makes things that are invisible visible (that's what I call it) you can play a piano, and before you use the invisible visible thing on it, it just plays notes, but when you play it after you use the thing, it plays the theme when you go into the library of gloomy manor. I vacuumed Morty after he finished his movie, and the only reason I did is because he didn't seem too bothered by it. He smiles when you flash him so I thought that maybe he wanted to be captured, similar to Madame Clairvoya in LM1. Its still felt horrible.
I am part of the 15 who love dark moon, honestly the best game of the decade.
TBH Never actually given it a shot, will try eventually.
DPadGamer Yeah, alot of people don’t like it because the game is split into missions and you’re brought back to the lab after each one. (Each mission is around 10-15 minutes) but in my opinion, that makes the game perfect for on the go play or just quick sessions. Also scare-scraper was 10x better on 3DS, and the ending was really emotional.

I hate how people mention the "It" reference in the sewers, but nobody talks about when you go past the grates as Gooigi and walk out of sight, a chomping and swallowing noise will be heard and Gooigi will suddenly respawn. Meaning that something is in the sewer and it lies just out of sight and it's capable of eating a Luigi-sized object whole.
Either that or there's water and some weird machinery.
But hey, that's just a theory.

It seems Next Level Games didn't miss the opportunity to reference the most famous horror hotel out there. On one floor is a carpet pattern that's the same as the one from the Shinning and on the hats of the firefighter ghost in the movie set area is the number 237, the forbidden room from the same movie.
Additionally, the moon found on the background of the pirate floor is the same design as the Dark Moon, albeit yellow instead of green. Very likely not an intentional reference, but that room also reminded me a lot of the Truman Show, being an enclosed area with the walls painted to look like the sky, but again that is likely not what the devs were going for.
If you want information on how E. Gadd contacted past Luigi and Past E. Gadd look up "Professor E. Gadd's Journal Entries" on Google, which is canon and talks about the creation of Gooigi.

DPadGamer, while it’s not a Mario Easter egg, I think there is a Links Awakening Easter egg, in Morty’s Editing room there is a picture of an Owl that Looks Surprisingly like The Owl from Links Awakening For switch. Just wanted to point it out, cause I think it’s really neat ^-^ Also I’m not sure but I think the security guard grabs one of those Spike orbs from Smash brothers before the fight. And finally in the music all playing the bottles in order in the hidden concession room, in order is the Luigi’s Mansion Theme ^-^ Plus the cards in the magic room are definitely Triforce shaped, sorry for all the mentions, I just find it so awesome.
