This is easily the best propagation video anyone has made, of any kind of plant, at least of any that I've seen. Such a wonderful job. Your voice and quiet energy helped me get into a meditative state. You had the perfect amount of instruction, not too much or too little, and explained it so easy to follow. Great camera work too, I could see clearly everything you trying to show me. Just fantastic!

I love all your videos! It makes me so upset when people give you a thumbs down?? Why on earth do you feel the need to give her a thumbs down when she's showing us amazing ways to grow plants? Don't let those negative people bother you, you're so gifted with plants. I appreciate everything you're doing!

I have mixed emotions on this. Although the content is very good, she takes an inordinate amount of time to do so. I’d play at double speed but that makes her accent impossible to discern. I’ll stay on the fence and give neither thumbs up or down.

I used your method and was able to get baby violets from nine leaves. It took about two months before the babies showed up. I am now trying to grow them out, having separated them from the first leaves, and more babies are growing from the first leaves. Growth is very slow, though, and some of the babies have withered away. Some look strong but grow very slowly. I have a new batch from another violet. I planted the leaves June 15th, and put them in a closed container. Almost to the day, August 15th, the first baby emerged from one of the leaves. It is now September 1st, and no more babies have shown up. The leaves are all rooted and look healthy. I wonder what is taking so long. Thank you for all your informative videos.

How long before babies sprout? Do you need to water any more times after the first watering before the babies sprout while they're in the bag? When is the second watering needed and when do you start a regular watering cycle? How often do you water young and mature plants? Well made video. Thank you, I'm going to try to save my mom's violet plant that is dying so I can give them to my siblings as gifts. My mom went to be with the Lord just over a year ago.

Thank you so much for the simple and careful way to propagate. I have watched sooo many videos. Yours is simple and quite obviously effective. I Have adopted my mother in law’s AV’s and I am trying to learn all I can. They are overgrown with a couple of mothers in each! They have the scaly stems that are 2”-3” long. I know I must repot them to thrive. That’s where I get scared. They were her mothers too. Wish me luck, and please if you ever receive this; I will love and appreciate any tips or hints. You are wonderful, thank you.

Great video! Did you put the cuttings in a plastic bag or humidity dome? I have done one cutting potted in regular soil then put into a plastic bag for 2 weeks. It is out of the bag now and doing well but no babies. It has been a month. Possibly the soil is packed too tightly? I am interested to try with the perlite vermiculite mixture as u said it was easier for new leaves to pop through. Thank-you! Violets are my favorite.

  • @ellenhaben1217

Wow, you have great success with violet leaf propagation. My method is touch and go. I only have 50%success. I stick the leaves in potting mix and water them often. Placed in a sunny window.i made 2pots recently each holding 2mother leaves. One pot has given me 5tiny leaves. The mother leaf stem rotted off
The other pot still no babies. Its Mother leaves are still healthy. What are your thoughts? should I move the soil to look for babies?

    • @EmaansGarden
      @EmaansGarden  2 ปีที่แล้ว

No, you don’t need to move the soil. Otherwise the babies can die. Some leaves take time to produce the babies.😊

I know this is an old post/question but if African Violets are not blooming it usually is because they are not getting enough light. You Never want full sun on them but they appreciate very bright light conditions. Hope this helps!

Hi Emaans. I have been watching your channel for awhile now. I love it. I tried propagation and I was so excited when I saw the first sign of the babies. They have been growing really slow. It’s been really cloudy here, so I wanted to give them some vit D a little sunshine. They were only outside for a couple of hours and it wasn’t even hot. I was devastated when I brought them back inside. Can they be saved? Most of the leaves look like they burned. On one of the babies, the mother leaf is completely dead. But, it’s to soon to separate them. Help!!!

I am wondering if your bloom stock made new African Violets?
Can you do this with any AV or just Chimera AV?

+Tucker Fam You can do with any AV. I have the flower stem with growing babies. It grows babies just like leaf does.

once you pinch the leaves off how long and how do you save it before you plant it?

+aeptacon Do you mean to keep them in plastic bags? If I don’t have time to plant my leaves that day after pinching them I put them in a plastic bags . And next day I refresh the cutting ( I pinch again and make fresh) and let it dry little bit before planting. If I don’t wanna plant the leaves ( when I take out some leaves to make my plant look better) I put in ziplock bag and put little bit water and leave them. They root and give babies. Even in ziplock bag you can have babies.

@@EmaansGarden nice thank you. Because I bought some AV, they had bugs in the pot so I had to throw it out but I saved the leaves and I haven't planted them yet as I needed to buy soil. I will look for the promix like you suggested. Thanks again

Good demonstration. Did your flower stem ever root?

Thanks a lot. Yes, many times they rooted. That’s why I showed how to do it. I never show something that I never tried myself. Even I have a violet that is growing lots of babies from the flower spike.
