      There are a lot of factors (swirling, water content, temp, essential oil) that can make soap head into heavy trace quickly. Keeping soap recipes simple, like this one, will help you as a beginner.

    Happy to watch you making soap with carrots......I make soaps with lots of additives, and I made carrot soap twice. It's really good for skin. I always search for videos of soap making to know more about additives. Mostly people name the soap as per the fragrance they use but no additives..... I enjoyed you video. Thank you.

      Hi,.. Yes Rye flour has skin and hair benefits too.
      Magnesium present in rye grain is capable of detoxifying the epidermis and keeping the skin clean and clear. People suffering from allergies can take the help of rye.
      This grain is a good source of various minerals, including Calcium, iron, zinc, and magnesium. All these minerals play vital roles in easing the various signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes etc. The antioxidants of rye combat the free radicals. You can add cornmeal, Moringa, Oats, Rice bran and the list is endless. Thanks for the reply. 💕💕💕

    Another interesting and informative video, but I have to say that my eyes popped when I heard you say one of the ingredients was caustic soda! Blimey, this can be very dangerous stuff. I used to use it for cleaning my oily old Triumph motorbike and I always wore rubber gloves and goggles.
    BTW for many yeas I've grown my main crop carrots in a raised container. It's about five feet long, a foot across and a foot deep and is placed well above the flight path of the carrot fly. I use these carrots right through the winter.
    Now to try to make that soap...

    • @Lovelygreens
      @Lovelygreens  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Soap making is chemistry, albeit pretty safe chemistry. Caustic soda breaks oil molecules apart and combines with them to make soap. It’s its own compound. In the past people leached caustic soda from wood ashes but nowadays we use a safer type - and yes it’s the same stuff used to clean steel and clear pipes. Don’t worry though, handmade soap is cleansing and gentle and no longer contains caustic soda. All soap is made this way which is a real eye opener for people.

    Beautiful colours! And I love your oils too, was looking for a vegan recipe and will def try this one. I love citrus too, good to know this EO smells like them, but sticks around. 😍 BTW you say to soap below 99F "because it is CP". But CP/HP only refers to curing method. HP is cured in oven or slowcooker, CP on roomtemperature. So you cán make CP with hot lye & oils. You just preferably soap on cooler temps since it Will be more stable to work with (not "because it is CP"). 😉😘

    • @Lovelygreens
      @Lovelygreens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks you for your kind comment, but the rest of the information you shared is incorrect. The curing step (leaving bars to air dry at room temperature) is virtually the same for both, with the cure time for hot process being a shorter period than cold process. Curing is as much about reducing water content as it is about saponification. Also, if you try to make cold process soap above 140F it can get extremely messy (potential volcanos) and can lead to failed batches. If you try to make hot process at low temperatures it doesn't cook the soap and so you don't fully complete saponification.

    • @suhelavaneerten419
      @suhelavaneerten419 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you misunderstood me. I was just responding to you saying to use low temperature “because it is cold process”. To me that is sounding like the hot process is the same process, only using higher temps. I thought that could be confusing.

      I have an article on how to change and customize a soap recipe. I think that you'll find it useful: lovelygreens.com/change-customize-soap-recipe/

    Hi do you count the purée as part of the water weight? So if you're using 3 tbsp of purée do you deduct 3 tbsp from the water that you'll add to the lye? Thanks for the video. And please let me know. I really want to make this soap.
