Aloha! I did the half-recipe today. I invited my 98 y/o Grandma to sit in the room while I put the recipe together (far from the lye+water mixing). I set up this video for her to watch at the same time (with captions on). She was very surprised to see the soap in the molds... she even asked me if I was going to put it in the oven to cook 😄 (dementia sometimes has a sense of humor). I let her feel the warm bottom of the mold and told her I already cooked it 😉. Unprompted, she said, "Good. No need to always buy, buy, buy, at the store." I'll take that as a win. 🤙 Mahalo Miss Elly!
Just made this recipe and it turned out great! I put some coconut essential oil (about 15 drops) in the melted coconut oil before I added the lye mixture and it worked fine. I did use a stick blender and the soap was ready to pour really quickly. Beautiful white soaps (I have the same silicon molds you use in this video)! This is a super easy way for beginners to get into soap-making! Thank you!!

Just made this and now left to cure....gotta say, Elly what great video's you make and what a glorious soap! I did a lather test and it's divine! Feeling so blessed to have found your very clear and concise videos! What a delightful introduction to soap making for me! Thank you ever so much!!! I am now prepping for my next recipe....YAY!!
I made this last night! It was my first time ever making soap! It was super easy and clear to follow! I added in a fragrance oil at the end and really sped up the trace! If I did it again I would try an unscented version. Thank you for sharing this amazingly simple and easy beginner recipe! I was sooo nervous and by the time I was cleaning up I was sooo excited because of how easy it was! Thank you soo much! You've given me the confidence to start making soap at home~
woohoo 🎉 4 weeks ago I made this recipe and I'm now using it. Elly you are to be congratulated on a simple yet very effective soap and recipe. Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to see what you share in 2021
Awesome, thanks for sharing. Coconut oil produces a harder and a good conditioning soap. Pretty much the only oil that does it all for soap. Other oils do this but not that. They came out of the mold beautifully and look stunning. Great job.
I used to love Kirk's hardwater castile soap, but the formula has changed so much that I barely recognize it as the soap my mom used to bathe me over 60 years ago. So i guess i'll try my hand at making my own coconut soap. Thank you for the clear instructions!
They are beautiful. Very calming chemistry. The scary part for me is the lye. It's amazing how you can make something so useful from such simple ingredients!!
When lye mixes with oil, it becomes soap after it saponifies. As the chemicals harden, the liquid becomes a soap bar. After you cure the soap, there is no oil, water, or lye left in the soap. After you cure the soap, no lye remains in the soap. What’s left is soap, pure and simple.
So glad that I have found you. I have been making soap for years. But I have learned so much from you in the past few days of watching your videos, especially about the technicalities of making my own recipes. Thanks so much!!
I just finished making this, and because it is so slow to trace, I actually was able to practice swirls and pretty globby bits on top! I am so psyched! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! You are the best!🎉

Hello , i loved ur video and tried making pure coconut oil soap, but, i made a mistake in my soap , that is i added only 8% superfat to my 100% coconut oil soap, it has been curing for 24 hrs till now, is there anyway i can mend it and add excess superfat? Thanks in advance
First time making soap! I made this soap last month and finally got to use it this week. It is amazing! Very cleansing without drying my skin. This small batch recipe ( I used goat's milk ice cubes, last bits of olive oil + vitamin e oil + coconut oil--- it's what I had on hand) is my new go to. Now I just have to keep watching your videos so I can learn how/ when to add a scent. Thank you!!!!
I love your videos and am so glad I found your channel. I started making soap when my kids were little and we did not know to weigh it...early 80s. Sometimes it came out beautifully, sometimes it was quite harsh and this was before stick blenders and ph strips so we always stirred them. I remember how excited i was when I learned to use a stick blender. You can tell you are in a warmer environment. :) To get soap to gel where I live, some folks use a warm oven or a heating pad so it goes completely through gel phase. I have NEVER had a soap get too hot. Thank you so much for all you are sharing!!!
Wanted to tell you, I've been making this for a while now and gave some to a few friends who wanted some. I have two friends using it as shampoo with amazing results! They have super dry hair and have had trouble with regular products, so yay!
Hello @EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you for inspiring me to do soap again. I took a hiatus of almost 8 years. You're one of my inspirations for my handmade soap now: simple and natural but effective.
Hi Elly, thank you for the sharing the recipe. I have bought many books on soap making, but just didn't know where to start. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. I will make my first batch this weekend. Thank you!
Sooo this am, I got bold and made this soap the 1st time... I did use a stick blender, and added some essential oil "joy" and oh my word! This was super easy and fun... I'll have real homemade soap in just a few days!! Thank you so much!! Blessings
I just started using it after a 6 weeks cure. And it's perfect! It's my first time making soap and it was super easy, took less than 10 min to make but it was hard waiting to use it I'm too impatient ☺️ it's foamy and hydrating , I used tea tree HE. Thank you so much 🥰 it encouraged me to try again and make more soaps.
You're welcome Ivan. You might like this one too th-cam.com/video/vcN1qOVRKsY/w-d-xo.html I'll be making more of these videos in the new year. I have a few more cool tricks up my sleeve to share on this topic :)
YUP!!!! I've been soaping for a while and rarely use one. I use the hot lye water to melt the hard oils/butters and use a whisk when necessary. I do have a stick blender btw, I just didn't want to be totally dependent on it.
I just made these, super easy instructions. Thank you so much! I added 🍋 essential oil to half of the batch and used the same molds you showed, so beautiful!
Lovely soap!! I just wanted to mention based on my soaping experience with coconut oil soap... The soap loses .5oz water per month during the cure. Therefore, a 6-7oz soap bar, takes 4 and 1/2 months to fully cure. I don’t know why it takes sooo long for water to evaporate from coconut oil soap, but it does. It may be harsh and drying to the skin if you test the soap sooner because that lye water hasn’t fully evaporated. Just my two cents... 😻
Thanks for your comment :) The lye doesn't evaporate though, only the water. Your soap, regardless of water volume in the recipe, if made properly, should technically be safe to use once saponification is complete (which usually takes 1-2 days for CP soap).
@@EllysEverydaySoapMakingoooo thanks so I can use after two days that's gd news ...the 840 g coconut receipt is too huge..would u kindly share a smaller receipt or should just divide this one into two
Hello Elly, this is my first ever TH-cam comment in my life 😀 Thank you so much for being an inspiration. I made this soap and used it after 6 weeks. That’s amazing ! Much love from Bengaluru, India 💕💐
My son has psoriasis and olive oil soap helps a huge amount. Its cleared up loads but buying it is ridiculous expensive where i am. In a well known soap and candle shop its £10 per bar so i looked to see if i could make it. The same quantities as this but with olive oil. I now make it all the time for pennies per bar. I love watching your videos. I want to mix olive oil and coconut oil together in my next batch.
I just recently discovered you and boy am I glad I did. You seem so lovely and so are your soaps. I had to take a break from soaping the last 2 years and I am just getting back to it. Thank you for all you do I look forward to supporting you more soon. When I made 100% coconut oil soap before, for cleaning so no superfat, I put them in cleaned out previously used deodorant containers( or I've seen in the past that you can buy new empty ones). It worked quite well to pretreat stains on clothes. It made it easy to hold and use. ☺️ As a side note I just love your voice, it reminds me of Olivia Newton John and always warms my heart. 🥰💜
I just ran across your video and I have to say, this is one of the most pleasant and well-made craft videos I've seen. You explain everything, and I love the attention to detail with the lye safety information. I agree that these "plain" soaps are just gorgeous on their own! I just finished watching your hot process aloe soap recipe, and I think I'm hooked, again haha. I have some old molds and materials, so I will just see where I'm at and go from there. Thanks so much for the inspiration. :)
Thank you so much for this I have been lately really into simple soaps I use to make more fancy ones also but I love getting back to basics , this soap is lovely.
I start making my Own home made soaps for my accomodation, so I don’t need to buy one. Thank you for making this video. I been experimenting and my first soap, I over mixed it but it still good then now I am on my 10th Times of making different soaps and experimenting scents from essential oils and fragrance oils and also the colours of my soaps and so far so good. It cleanses skin without drying. I use 7% super fat which I find perfect, it cleanses so good and moisturizing at the same time. Normally, I used Virgin olive oil, Virgin Coconut oil, Raw and unrefined shea butter, Cocoa butter, cold pressed hemp seed oil, castor oil and OMG, it is so good, I even use it to my face. Thanks for making this video. I still always watch your video even now I know How to make soaps. Forever grateful to you Elly and to those who are fabulous soap Makers that I followed! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I Love you!
Ive been wanting for so long to make soaps, but I didn't trust all the equations for knowing how much of one ingredient should use...its nicely easy, and I really love coconut,so I will surely make this recipe. If you think it can be useful try using the whisk by rolling it with bought hands like making fire sparks at camping..you must be carefull because it might fly drops on you're hands...thank you for you're recipe ❤
Thank you, I appreciate that. I hope everyone uses this recipe as a basic guide and make the soap unique to themselves - you can add all sorts of things to this soap!
So very pretty. I'm brand new to soap making and oh my gosh, mistakes were made. But it's okay, because the first batch is for my husband. HAHAHAHA! On a serious note, soap making seems to be very similar to my quilt making journey. Mistakes can only make us better. Thank you so much for this video! I really love those molds! Especially the ones that look like sunflowers! Go pretty.
That is lovely! I think those are my favourite moulds. The result is so pretty! I just made a 30% SF batch and I can't wait to feel the soap..... I also made it without scent or added colour, so pure
This is my new favorite recipe! I have sensitive dry skin. This works the best for me and I dont know why. Coconut oil is actually good for your skin, its just more cleansing so it strips more natural oils. I use lotion anyways, but when I use this vs my half and half olive and coconut oil soap, my hands feel less dry after I use this. Maybe its just me. I also dont want my soap to leave any oily residue behind on my skin. I also hate soft bars of soap. These bars are very solid. Thats great news as thats a much cheaper bar of soap. I am fairly new to soap making and am learning you have to be careful with random recipes off the internet. Elly has become my best friend in this process. Her recipes wont let you down, or waste your expensive ingredients. And if you do make a mistake, shes got a video for that too! I would love to see how you might add colors to this recipe. I am experimenting with infusing liquid oils with things like alkanet (for purple), which works really well, and a little goes a long way, so I might have to change the recipe slightly for that. Im struggling with the soap calculators so Im about to watch her video on how to do that as well!
You’re so generous in your tips and nuances of the process. Thank you for your generous heart. A question for you- can I use the blender I use for my culinary chores? And how does one wash and clean the containers? I’m worried about the toxicity of the leftovers on the containers
Some people have different containers and equipment for soap and food, that would be ideal if you can manage it. This video shows how I wash up after soap making th-cam.com/video/Pn3yfUw28OA/w-d-xo.html
Elly, I just wanted to say Thank you! There are so many soap making tutorials out there, but when I found your channel, I have to say it resonated with me so much, that I decided to jump off the melt and pour ship. Your tutorials are organic and earthy - just the way I strive to live my life. This is a recipe I will be making this weekend and I know my loved ones will be thrilled! I also wanted to ask if you would be willing to share your Rose-geranium recipe? I am not quit ready to calculate my own recipes just yet - as I am trying to gain my confidence with cold processing first. Either way - Thank you for being you! Love and light - Kate in North Idaho - USA
Ahh thank you so much Kate, that's lovely! Yes I have a recipe for my rose geranium soap in this video, the amounts are all in the description box th-cam.com/video/ytN2ZcbRkIM/w-d-xo.html Have fun!
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you so very much! I was fortunate enough to find the molds you used at Amazon - I appreciate your meticulous attention to detail! I hope life is treating you well in Australia! The news coming our way appears to be stressful down under. Light and Love!
I have everything I need to do this at home however, I have a hand stick blender, how long would you advice I stick blend for please and what percentage of essential/fragrance oil would I need to add please? Thanks
It won't take long with a hand blender, just blend until it thickens slightly. I would use 20-25g of EO for this soap, about 3% of the base oil amount :)
This is amazing! I really want to start making my own soap. Is this good for sensitive skin and safe for babies? And what is the best way to store the extra soaps :)
One of my favorite soapers! Thank you for making this video. Can you make one about how to make a natural melt and pour base please? The ones I've seen so far use chemicals and solvents, is it possible to make without them? Thanks a in advance!
Hi, and thank you! Hmm, I have to be honest and say I've never made a melt and pour soap base. I don't know if they can be made without extra ingredients and solvents. I'll be exploring this one day though I'm sure :)
Hi, Thank you for this video, you explain how to make the soap very well. I am interested in making this, but NaOH is not permitted to use in my country without having a license. Can it be substituted with some chemical that is less dangerous?
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you for your reply. I guess would have to buy NaOH eventually. One more thing I would like to ask, if you don't mind answering, would this soap sweat in humid country? Because I live in Malaysia, it is very humid here, 80-90+ %
I love these videos of yours! And I completely understand what you mean by enjoying simple soaps- they're so elegant and soothing 🥰🥰🥰 The soaps come out beautifully, and it's motivating to know that you can make beautiful things without a lot of expensive equipment!! I would love to see more videos on making soap simply, like you mentioned ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback! I do plan on making more videos to expand on this subject. It's exciting to think you can 'break the mould' with soap making and utilise some quite innovative methods. I'm keen to share more! (my mind is always inventing).
Thank you so much for this video.. No one ever demonstrates how to cover your single bar molds. That i know of anyways.. Have a super wonderful soap making day!
Thank you for this video! I want to get into soap making, and this video, as well as your Castile soap video, make soap making seem very doable. I was wondering if you could share a recipe that uses both coconut and olive oil? I imagine that the blend would make a great bath soap, but since I have never made soap, I could be wrong! I want to use both lime and mint essential oils to make a mojito soap.
Hi Elly, thank you so much for the video. I made your recipe today but used my immersion blender as I need more experience using it for soap making. My question is about gel phase for the coconut soap. I’ve read many posts that say it isn’t a necessary step but recommended for coloured soaps. What are your thoughts on to gel or not to gel? 😀
I personally love to gel my soaps, but it's not always easy to do when they're made in individual silicone moulds. Gelling definitely brings out brighter colours in coloured soap :)
Hi from Panama. I made a batch of 100% coconut oil today. Where I am the oil is always liquid. Once I have the lye added to the water I add it almost straight away to the oil while it's still pretty warm and it emulsifies immediately. I still give it a minute with the blender just to be sure then get it into the molds. I use little Pringles tubes. A batch of 750 ml oil makes almost enough to fill four of the )1.3 Oz tubes. I leave them in the open and they will gel within the hour. Our ambient temp here is always about 82 degrees f. Next day I slice them up with an old cheese guillotine. Store them for four weeks or so then they are ready to use. Thanks for the video, it's the first time I've come across someone else doing a 100% coconut soap with no fragrance. I like the simple ones too. I got into soap making as a way of adding value to the oil my neighbour makes totally by hand in her back yard. I'm trying to convince her to do it too and earn more money from her work.
Hi Ellie, I love the video:) I was wondering if we can reuse the utensils that have been in contact with sodium hydroxide for coking? eg. blender? Thanks in advance. . . I like your accent;)
Thank you for a great soap recipe, I think I'll give it a try. I use coconut oil organic for my skin for years now, and it's doing very well, it's sold for a good price in The Netherlands. When I compare the price of a large pot, which lasts a quarter of a year almost, to other skin products, this is the cheapest way of skincare. I never use sunscreen or other protection in the sun, and this summer we've been in a heatwave twice, with days of 30 + degrees Celsius. I may go red but soon it's a nice tan. There's no reason whatsoever, that we should be in fear of the sunlight, that's a fairy tale.
Thank you, Elly dear. South Africa and Australia are in spring now, yes so this is a great bar to make for our upcoming summers. SA is only in spring but the HEAT💥💥💥 is near unbearable. Don't wanna think about DECEMBER😥 Love and greetings from Pretoria 😗
Thank you for the great video! I've just made this soap (half batch) and your castile one for my very first time making soap! Your vids are so informative and easy to follow. Do you think the soaps would be ok to use on hair? Thanks!
You should STRONGLY emphasize to NEVER, NEVER use anything made of aluminum. 👍 EDIT: Don't forget to allow the soap to "age" for at least 4 to 6 weeks for best results. Also, lanolin can be added to prevent drying of skin.
@@dressagemom1 Aim for around 3 to 5% of the fat/oil you use. For example, if you are using 200 grams of tallow, subtract 4% of it (8 grams) and use the amount subtracted of the lanolin (8 grams). Always keep you recipes balanced.
I like a simple soap as well. I just don't understand soap makers that make these huge bars that look like some sort of child's birthday cake. I guess it sells soap...

I watched you since yesterday I like it and gonna do it.Thank you
Love this video gonna make it.Thanx
I agree plain unscented soaps are lovely, thank you.
Thanks, you're welcome!
Thanks so much Marina, that's wonderful!
I've never seen soap being made before. You have made it look so simple and easy. Thank you.🧼
I made this last night!
Great job!
Can be used this soap on face??
You're doing a great job to keep the public enlightened. Weldon.
I used the same type of mold for my first trial of soap making. Results were lovely
woohoo 🎉 4 weeks ago I made this recipe and I'm now using it. Elly you are to be congratulated on a simple yet very effective soap and recipe. Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to see what you share in 2021
Thank you Jules! That's so great, yay!
Awesome, thanks for sharing. Coconut oil produces a harder and a good conditioning soap. Pretty much the only oil that does it all for soap. Other oils do this but not that. They came out of the mold beautifully and look stunning. Great job.
Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Accra, Ghana, West Africa
I never knew till now that I wanted to make soap.
I used to love Kirk's hardwater castile soap, but the formula has changed so much that I barely recognize it as the soap my mom used to bathe me over 60 years ago. So i guess i'll try my hand at making my own coconut soap. Thank you for the clear instructions!
Yes it has changed...I haven't used it since Elly dragged me into soap making. Bless her heart!
Your voice is soooo soothing.
Thank you :)
Lovely. Perfect explanation! I will try and do it.
They are beautiful. Very calming chemistry. The scary part for me is the lye. It's amazing how you can make something so useful from such simple ingredients!!
I don't like lye if I can't digest it and need protective gear I would prefer gylecerin with shea butter and goats mile.avacado
You are so welcome!
Best soaper on TH-cam. Thank you so much Elly, what a beautiful soap
Oh! Thank you so much, you are very welcome. I truly appreciate your comment, wow!!
The Very best. Like she’s a soap hacker.
Great video as always Elly. Thank you for always graciously sharing your knowledge with us.
I just finished making this, and because it is so slow to trace, I actually was able to practice swirls and pretty globby bits on top! I am so psyched! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! You are the best!🎉
This is beautiful, Google recommended your video on my search page. I'm very happy to have found your channel. You have a very peaceful but detailed video.

Hello , i loved ur video and tried making pure coconut oil soap, but,
i made a mistake in my soap , that is i added only 8% superfat to my 100% coconut oil soap, it has been curing for 24 hrs till now, is there anyway i can mend it and add excess superfat?
Thanks in advance
First time making soap! I made this soap last month and finally got to use it this week. It is amazing! Very cleansing without drying my skin. This small batch recipe ( I used goat's milk ice cubes, last bits of olive oil + vitamin e oil + coconut oil--- it's what I had on hand) is my new go to. Now I just have to keep watching your videos so I can learn how/ when to add a scent. Thank you!!!!
Hi Hope. I would like to try this with goats milk. Did you put the same weight of goats milk as the weight of water used here.
@@annkat893 Yes! Same weight in goat's milk ice cubes
I'm planning to use coconut milk instead of water and add some coconut lime fragrance into the oil.
Just made this soap last night....so easy! Can't wait to try it :) Thank you so much for the great tutorial Elly and the recipe! Cheers from Canada :)
Ah that's wonderful Linda, thanks!
Did you put in the oven?
Wanted to tell you, I've been making this for a while now and gave some to a few friends who wanted some. I have two friends using it as shampoo with amazing results! They have super dry hair and have had trouble with regular products, so yay!
Hello @EllysEverydaySoapMaking
Thank you for inspiring me to do soap again. I took a hiatus of almost 8 years. You're one of my inspirations for my handmade soap now: simple and natural but effective.
Hello, I made my first ever diy soap with this recipe 4 weeks ago. It was so easy and I do think it was a success. Thank you so much!
Hi Elly, thank you for the sharing the recipe. I have bought many books on soap making, but just didn't know where to start. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. I will make my first batch this weekend. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for making a video without the use of an immersion blender!
You're welcome Ivan. You might like this one too th-cam.com/video/vcN1qOVRKsY/w-d-xo.html
I'll be making more of these videos in the new year.
I love voiceover vs music with captions. thank you 🤩
Well, I did make this gorgeous soap and your recipe and instructions worked like a charm. Thank you so much Elly for this one!
That's great Judith, thank you!
I just made these, super easy instructions. Thank you so much! I added 🍋 essential oil to half of the batch and used the same molds you showed, so beautiful!
Beautiful!
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking where do you buy products I live in spain and would know where to begin with to obtaining products
The cleaning soap recipe is the only soap I've been using to wash my dishes for a year and a half now, thank you so much
This is what I wondered.... if the cleaning soap recipe would be good for dishes. Thanks!
Waaa!! Four and half months ..that's long
@@EllysEverydaySoapMakingoooo thanks so I can use after two days that's gd news ...the 840 g coconut receipt is too huge..would u kindly share a smaller receipt or should just divide this one into two
Hello Elly, this is my first ever TH-cam comment in my life 😀
Thank you so much for being an inspiration. I made this soap and used it after 6 weeks. That’s amazing !
Much love from Bengaluru, India 💕💐
Thank you Vijaya! That's so wonderful. I'm happy for you. Thanks for commenting (I feel honoured!)
Did you use refined coconut oil or cold press coconut oil for soap making ?
My son has psoriasis and olive oil soap helps a huge amount. Its cleared up loads but buying it is ridiculous expensive where i am. In a well known soap and candle shop its £10 per bar so i looked to see if i could make it. The same quantities as this but with olive oil. I now make it all the time for pennies per bar. I love watching your videos. I want to mix olive oil and coconut oil together in my next batch.
Thank you, so good. You'd have to recalculate the recipe for olive oil though, or use one of my castile recipes :)
I made this soap and it is absolutely fantastic! Love it. Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow.
Wonderful, thank you!
I’ve been using this recipe but with a 20% super fat for years and it’s my go to favorite, and all my friends and family love it too. Great video!
Thanks Lisa, that's great!
Hello Ely, my question is, CAN I USE THE BLENDER, instead of the stick blender? Thanks
So do you still not need the stick blender?
Second question....Does this mean you use less lye?
I just recently discovered you and boy am I glad I did. You seem so lovely and so are your soaps. I had to take a break from soaping the last 2 years and I am just getting back to it. Thank you for all you do I look forward to supporting you more soon.
When I made 100% coconut oil soap before, for cleaning so no superfat, I put them in cleaned out previously used deodorant containers( or I've seen in the past that you can buy new empty ones). It worked quite well to pretreat stains on clothes. It made it easy to hold and use. ☺️
As a side note I just love your voice, it reminds me of Olivia Newton John and always warms my heart. 🥰💜
Thank you so much :)
So wonderful, thank you!
Thank you so much for this I have been lately really into simple soaps I use to make more fancy ones also but I love getting back to basics , this soap is lovely.
I start making my Own home made soaps for my accomodation, so I don’t need to buy one.
Thank you for making this video. I been experimenting and my first soap, I over mixed it but it still good then now I am on my 10th Times of making different soaps and experimenting scents from essential oils and fragrance oils
and also the colours of my soaps and so far so good.
I Love you!
Thank you so much! Your soap sounds just wonderful :)

Ive been wanting for so long to make soaps, but I didn't trust all the equations for knowing how much of one ingredient should use...its nicely easy, and I really love coconut,so I will surely make this recipe.

That's wonderful, Sonja! It's a lovely soap. You'll love the 30% SF :)
I love ur channel and ur way of explaining simply the techniques and tips
I used this recipe... It turned out great so soft and lovely
You are an AWSOME teacher and no need to join any class for soap making. Your TH-cam channel is quite informative. ❤
Thanks so much.

Thanks Kate, things are ok for us here in Queensland, but down south not so good. It's a difficult time for Victorians at the moment.
Is there a need for a curing period for this process? How long?
@@diannellyfetalvero4893 Yes curing is needed if done with caustic soda for atleast 30 days. 45 days is ideal.
I have everything I need to do this at home however, I have a hand stick blender, how long would you advice I stick blend for please and what percentage of essential/fragrance oil would I need to add please? Thanks
It won't take long with a hand blender, just blend until it thickens slightly. I would use 20-25g of EO for this soap, about 3% of the base oil amount :)
best quantities for soapmaking i've tried so far. thank you for the step by step videos. really helpful!
Finally i found what i needed to know after asking for help for a beginner. Bless the day i came across your video. Thank you.

Hi, Thank you for this video, you explain how to make the soap very well. I am interested in making this, but NaOH is not permitted to use in my country without having a license. Can it be substituted with some chemical that is less dangerous?
No, unfortunately.
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you for your reply. I guess would have to buy NaOH eventually. One more thing I would like to ask, if you don't mind answering, would this soap sweat in humid country? Because I live in Malaysia, it is very humid here, 80-90+ %

Hi, Elly! If I want to make this recipe with a stick blender and also add essential oils, what changes do I need to make?
Just add about 25g of essential oils, and blend with the blender instead of by hand. It's very easy soap to make :)
Elly, you were not kidding!! The EO addition definitely sped up the trace.
Elly, because of the EO addition in my part, the mixture did not mold well. Would you recommend rebatching?
On my part 🤦♀️
You make it look so easy. I am thinking of making homemade soaps and this is a great video. The soaps look so beautiful😍😍
Hi Alyssa! Thought I recognised that name :) Thank you!
This is my favorite soap, so much dead skin after 3 days of use
Thank you, yes, you can as long as they are cleaned well :)
I made soap once without a stick blender , and it turned out great 👍🏽
Thank you for a great soap recipe, I think I'll give it a try.

You should STRONGLY emphasize to NEVER, NEVER use anything made of aluminum. 👍 EDIT: Don't forget to allow the soap to "age" for at least 4 to 6 weeks for best results. Also, lanolin can be added to prevent drying of skin.
how much lanolin would you add, and would it replace some of the oil?
@@dressagemom1 Aim for around 3 to 5% of the fat/oil you use. For example, if you are using 200 grams of tallow, subtract 4% of it (8 grams) and use the amount subtracted of the lanolin (8 grams). Always keep you recipes balanced.
What is lanolin?
Thanks for taking the time to teach us this simple recipe it will be easy for a beginner an I like the natural color
I like a simple soap as well. I just don't understand soap makers that make these huge bars that look like some sort of child's birthday cake. I guess it sells soap...
