Cold-process soapmaking is chemistry, and this recipe uses lye. Lye is a caustic substance that is completely neutralized in the soapmaking process, but it can be harmful if not handled correctly. Please read this soap making safety guidance before proceeding: lovelygreens.c...

I adore my copy of a woman's garden and your whole approach to life & the garden. So many useful things.🥰🌿
That is so lovely to hear! I'm so pleased that you like my book :)
I made your Calendula soap last weekend (1st time making soap). Couldn’t wait to try it so we tried even though it hasn’t finished curing and it’s so creamy. Even my husband passed comment on how much better his hands feel.
I don’t think we’ll ever buy soap again!
Thank you 😊
That's fantastic! Handmade soap is SO much better than anything made industrially. We don't use anything but! I even make a solid dish soap that's replaced the dish soap we used to buy in the past: lovelygreens.com/homemade-dish-soap-recipe-zero-waste-home/
Awesome soap, thank you for sharing Tanya.
what a lovely christmas present your soap would make
So pretty. Love pumpkin. My joy to grow. I use pumpkin purée for skin as it has enzymes that help turn over cells.
It's very hydrating too 🙂💚
I really appreciate a more natural soap product. Thank you so much for sharing!
I've never thought of making my own soap but that was so relaxing to watch I just might take it up. Thank you for such a calming and informative vlog 😊
You're welcome Carol :) You should really consider it! Soapmaking is a great hobby to take up over winter -- especially on days when working outdoors might not be as attractive 🙂
Hi Tanya!
I've got my pumpkin halves baking in the oven right now.
Can't wait to try this! Thank you!!
Exciting! Have fun making pumpkin soap 🧼 😍
I’d love to know your story. What made you move to Britain and love our climate for gardening so much? Why the Isle of Man? What got you into gardening?
You should definitely do a live Q&A session soon. I’d love the chance to learn more about your drivers and plans for your garden.
thank you so much for your precise and calm manner- you have inspired us to try this recipe with prickly pear pulp!
Greatly explained this is my first time seeing your video really loved it madam thank you for sharing everything in a great way ❤️
Awesome! LOVED THE VIDEO! ❤
this is brilliant . so glad i found your channel . love
I just planted pumpkins I hope they get big by the end of the year and I’ll use your recipe !!! Thank you
I roast all the seeds from any pumpkin or winter squash on parchment with a tad of fine sea salt for snacking or grinding. I can’t waste that nutrition. Yum. 💖
I love your channel, thanks for sharing. It's been a while since I've made soap but excited to get back into it. I'm also taking your idea and going to make one of those sea glass stepping stones. Too many excellent ideas, plenty to stay busy over the next couple months. All the best!
Thank you and have fun making! So many projects...not enough time, right? 😊💚
I've been religiously studying everything you say about soap making on your page, written your recipes out in my little soap notebook and can't wait to try this recipe. 💙 Only made soap once, but didn't have much luck; I couldn't smell my essential oils at all! Maybe because I used cheap ones. 😏 Can't wait to give it an other, proper go.. 😊
So beautiful soap
Very thorough. I like your style.
Loved watching this video! you're so clever 🙂
Love your videos!
Currently overloaded here in Aragon, Spain with pumpkins, squash and olive oil. This video is a bingo! Me and my dogs can only eat so much of it. Thanks for this video.
You're so welcome! What a stack of them you must have 🎃
I really enjoyed this Tanya. I also refer to your wonderful book over and over. If anyone out there is wondering what to get someone as a present for Xmas I highly recommend A Woman's Garden! A mine of information.
Thanks so much, Jenny! I really appreciate your feedback on my book and am really pleased that you enjoyed the video :)
Bonjour le livre est il traduit en francais
Can’t wait to try this
Love this.
Thank you 😊
Can j use this soap for hair washing ?
شكرا على الوصفه، هل وضع الصابون في الفرن صالح لكل انواع الصابون
Putting soap in the oven causes soap to deepen and darken in color. It's a good method for most cp soap recipes, but I'd advise caution with those that contain sugar or honey since it can cause the soap to overheat.

Thanks so much for all your sharing Tanya! I have this recipe printed out from your website because i want to try it when I have time to 'deal with' all the cooked pumpkin I'll have on hand when I do it! I grew for the first time three gorgeous pumpkins called Prince something...can't remember now what they're called! haha. If I bake them I need to be ready to make some soup and our big freezer has broken, when we replace it I'll be ready for all the leftovers. I've really been enjoying learning to make soap this year.
Crown Prince perhaps? :) That's a very tasty pumpkin!
@@Lovelygreens Yes yes that's it! haha, I can't wait to eat them. I planted three plants, they grew very well and produced lots of small fruits but I could see we were running out of warm days so pinched off all the small ones. Some rotted anyways but I ended up with one good size squash per plant. That's fine for first time. Love your videos Tanya! Gardening and Soaping!
Hi Tanya, I am wondering if you need to readjust the amount of water and lye because of the pumpkin puree? If so, how do you do that? Thanks. I have been starting making soaps and balms thanks to you and your videos!
That's lovely to hear! 🙂 As for the water adjustment, it's factored into the recipe. You can reduce the amount of water by the same volume as the puree.
Any soap mold can be placed in the oven or only hard textured one? Can't they melt?😮
And do I use the same oven I use to bake my food or different special for soaps
Soap in the oven will not affect it in terms of being able to cook food. It's soap, not a toxic substance, and it isn't touching any part of the oven anyway. As for molds - if it's something that could melt, don't use it as a cold process soap mold. Chances are, it's a melt and pour mold that you won't be able to get your soap out of easily, anyway.
Thank you for that. Will you also check you emails please!?🙏
Thank you very much
If I wanted to run this recipe in soapcalc, what would be the water % in oils please? Or lye concetration?
What is the temperature I need to set the oven for the soap?
Turn it on to 170F (75C) and then when you put the soap inside, turn the oven off and leave the door closed.

loved this videoxx
Thanks, Penny :)
Beautiful ♥️
Do you have other recipes that are the same size as this (to fit that mold I bought)?
Most of my soap recipes fit it. Browse them over here: lovelygreens.com/category/beauty/soap/
Hi Tanya, how amazing this technique is. i have never seen that before. what is the oven thermostat for the soap? thank you so much.
When oven processing, the oven temperature should be no more than 170F / 77C :)
@@Lovelygreens Hi Tania, I so appreciate your speedy answer. I can't wait to try this technique. bless you
Wow amazing thank Tanya. This is new I never thought of putting soaps in the oven. So what temp do you pre heat the oven? Am so getting confused. Some shapers say put soap in fridge and now oven. My megabytes are failing me at this point 😂😂😂😂
Oven processing deepens/intensifies the color of the soap and cooling in the fridge lightens the color. That's the only reason to do it :) For oven processing, preheat to no hotter than 170⁰F (75⁰C)
ماهو الوقت الذي نترك فيه الصابون داخل الفرن المشتعل
Is there a cold press soap recipe using calendula oil and oatmeal milk ?
I’d love to make this type of soap and thought I’d ask to see if anyone knew of or has a recipe using these ingredients that they’d be willing to share.
Hello Just found your Soap Making studies on Google. I like the Pumpkin recipe with real pumpkin. Can you use other fruits and vegetables using the same process. Example: if you are using Avocado, is it also required to place the mold into an oven. Thanks
Some fruit and veg, yes. Avocado makes a lovely green soap initially, but it fades to a muted yellow over a few weeks/months. Carrots are great for yellow, but most veg, including beets, turn soap brown. For more ideas on naturally coloring soap, head here: lovelygreens.com/how-to-naturally-color-handmade-soap/
Hello Tanya Lovely Greens, Your such a clever lady. This is the best "Soap Opera" ever. Lots better than Coronation Street, or Emmerdale. 😂 👍.
How to prepare 🥭 mango soap .
I've not made it before but if I did, I'd make my carrot soap recipe and replace the carrot puree with mango puree: lovelygreens.com/natural-carrot-soap-recipe/
Hi, you prepare mi
Marigold flower oil and soaps
I see Storm Barra hit the Isle of Mann severely, hoping you and your home are ok.
Hi
Pumpkin Soap? Gentle lady, you are genius lady.
Do you still have honey bees?
Sure do :) They're tucked up for the winter now but still buzzing around on fine days. The last time I briefly opened the hives was in early November.
@@Lovelygreens
Awesome! How many hives do you keep?
