This was one of the first soaps I made after learning the basics, and I still love it after having a few years of experience under my belt now. It’s rich and creamy, cleanses really well, and is not drying at all. Mine came out a bit darker, which I need to work on to get it a lighter color without adding a lightener, but the quality is wonderful.
WoW, this is the best complete video of how to make soap. (Must have watched over 100 other videos and couldn't figure it out as a beginner) This one includes everything. From recepie, to ingredients, amounts, and a beautiful voice that explains step by step the whole process. Now, I feel confident enough to start making my own. You deserve a huge hug, and a huge thank you for taking your time making this video and for sharing.. Your quality reflects in your products too..
I love your videos, i can just sit down with a gin and learn new things with a totally relaxing voice, and demonstration process. Thankyou Tanya, you are a great presenter.
Hi Tonya I was just pointed to your channel by Casey from THE LAWERENCE FAMILY GARDENS - regarding sop making and she suggested I ask to collaborate with you on creating a garden soap I think it would be amazing and so beneficial to so many gardeners out there! Thanks and hope to hear from you soon ALW✨🤍🙏🧼🪴
That's lovely of Casey to point you my way :) I have tons of soap recipes on my website and a few videos here. I even have some garden soap ideas if you fancy some inspiration lovelygreens.com/?s=Garden+soap
Off topic but perhaps you could make a short viideo showing how to fit TBar chains onto a hanging basket. Ive cracked several baskets trying to secure the chains as they are so fidgety to deal with. Your vegetables and fruit are all looking great as usual. Take care.
I'm just starting my soapmaking journey and have been learning everything I can. You're the first one I've come across so far that makes all natural soap, which is my goal. I will be watching all your videos! What is your opinion on using organic oils? Is it worth the extra expense, or is it not really necessary?
The reason we use organic oils in soap recipes is to support organic and regenerative agriculture. It doesn't make any difference to the actual soap properties, in my opinion, but does ensure that our products have a sustainable footprint.
Tanya. Thanks I love the video. So will be investing on your soap making course. Can I just ask. Do I need to have specific tools for soap making. (Except lye)?
Hi Kim , I just spotted your question. I go through that in the soapmaking equipment section of the course :) Long story, short - most kitchen tools and equipment can double up for soapmaking.
I made a batch for the first time using your recipe. It turned out to be so beautiful. Thank you so much. After 48 hours, when I took the soap out of the mold, the bottom of it looked like a cookie dough. Is that common? I tried it though its really very creamy and lathers nicely❤
Sometimes soap can come out soft if it's made with a lot of soft oils (olive oil, etc) or was unmolded a bit too soon. It's fine to use, though, don't worry :)
I haven't but have heard from others that the color doesn't survive the soapmaking process. Beets don't either, unfortunately. They turn soap brown. So sad!
Hi Denice, I'm very sorry but I don't have immediate plans on making it available as a print book. If that changes, I'll definitely share news of it 💚🧼
Hello Tanya, thank you for this amazing video! I have a couple questions, if you don't mind: Is it safe to use my usual kitchen tools and pans? If I can't find cocoa butter can I leave it out and only use the others? If I don't have an oven or microwave and similar can I just leave it outside overnight or has to be pass through the oven? Thanks again. I also wrote you on Instagram regarding a possible vegan course instead of using animal milk.
Yes, you can use your current kitchen tools to make soap. Just ensure they are fully cleaned afterward - a dishwasher is great for that. No, you cannot leave the cocoa butter out. Soap recipes are natural chemical formulas and nothing should be changed unless you're an experienced soapmaker. Otherwise, the outcome could be disappointing or dangerous.
It's a 1-lb loaf mold. There's a link to the product in the equipment list here: lovelygreens.com/natural-chamomile-soap-recipe-soap-making-instructions/
Yes, anyone can book worldwide 🙂 the price is in USD, but you can pay with your UK card. It works out about £38 and your bank/credit card does the converting.
You use an immersion blender to make your soaps. Do you have a commercial grade blender? I have heard some say the soap batter could blow the motor out in an immersion blender unless one has a commercial grade machine. Granted, you do short bursts, but have you had any problems with your immersion blender?
That's only relevant for big batches - 50-100 bars at a time. Normal immersion blenders are perfect for small soap batches. The motor doesn't blow, and I have immersion blenders that are nearly ten years old and still work fine. They're some of the ones used in my soapmaking workshops.
I think that you can do two better ways to get a lovely camomile infusion, you can freeze the camomile and mix them with the Naoh or prepare a regular Naoh liquid then add the camomile herbs, it will get infused because of the Naoh temperature, instead of heating them twice
Such a beautiful soap!! 🌼 May I ask what is the reason you chose to use a small amount of essential oil for this one? I have tried using chamomile in soap and it was very light even when I used about 3-5% (from memory, it was a while ago) and I was a bit heartbroken about that 😢
Thank you :) I use only a small amount because of cost - any more than that, and I feel that the end scent is pretty similar. Also, over time, the scent will fade from the outside of the soap bars. It's still there inside the soap, though, and comes out as you use it.
@@Lovelygreens the electrolysis is not natural. Various synthetic things are produced through electrolysis. Official data name it a synthetically manufactured substance. And if it's produced with a mercury-cell process, it can leave high amounts of mercury in the finished product. I'd love for it to be natural!
The USDA allow lye within their organic standards. You can't make a true soap without using it in the process somewhere. And of course you're not using it on your skin. The lye is used up and isn't contained in the final product.

It may be darker if you used extra virgin olive oil instead of light- coloured olive oil 💚
I will be sure to use light olive oil the next time. I loved the video and thank you!

great well done tanya

I make a similar one and use chamomile infused olive oil.

Any chance your soapmaking ebook will be available in print? I’ve no computer, only a cell phone so I’m unable to get the ebook.

What isa size of your soap mold?
I love this recipe, but I cannot find this small mold. Where can I find that? I looked on Amazona and Brambleberry and cannot find it.
Hi there, I have a link to it over here lovelygreens.com/natural-chamomile-soap-recipe-soap-making-instructions/
lovely ! what is the size of that mold?

I am interested a participate in training .how to apply?
I have an online soapmaking course that will help you lovelygreens.teachable.com/p/natural-soapmaking-for-beginners-using-the-cold-process-method
Can du with a green tea instead of camomile please ?
Sure, but it will change the colour of the soap.
Is your course available for people in the UK? Thanks

I’m just wondering if is better to use a glass cup instead of plastic
For which purpose? For lye? You do not want to use glass for mixing lye since glass will crack under the heat. It's even happened to me!
i would like to make liquid soap. what extra ingredient do i need for this?
I really want to learn how to make soap at home

Can I use unrefined coconut oil??????????????
You can, but it's far more expensive, and the coconut scent doesn't last.

I don't think that we can call soap natural noawadays since the lye used is synthetic sodium hydroxide.
Sodium hydroxide is not synthetic - it's made through electrolysis of salt water. That is why it's considered a natural ingredient.
@@Lovelygreens the electrolysis is not natural. Various synthetic things are produced through electrolysis. Official data name it a synthetically manufactured substance. @@Ossivar lye is not the problem here, synthetic lye is.
The properties associated with Chamomile do not survive saponification and the same is true of any herb or plant matter.
