Unfortunately, many brands are using “curvy” as a euphemism for plus-size, and some are just using for truly curvier shapes, it can be hard to tell what they mean.
You absolutely nailed the Hourglass's best pant options. I wish I knew them when I was a teenager and somehow forgot when I got older. It's good to see a reminder. Thanks.
I've seen hundreds of fashion videos and articles but never realized I was an apple 🍎🍏 until you explained it and used yourself as an example. Thank you always for such helpful information! 🥰
This is SO helpful! I'm a super short but super busty hourglass. Wearing dresses in the dead of winter is getting harder each year living in NYC. I can't wait to try out some straight leg pants/jeans!
This is a great video. Well done straight to the point. I would add Kim K is not pear shaped. She has prominent shoulders. Naturally she’s more rectangle or inverted triangle but the surgery to her hips made her more hour glass. See unedited photos of her. Doja cat is a great example of pear shape.
I think it’s important to know that there aren’t just these 5 types and one can fit into more than one category at the same time. For example, I have a typical hourglass shape at first glance, since I have wide shoulders and hips and a relatively small waist in comparison. But I also carry more weight on my thighs than typical for an hourglass figure, which fits more into the pear category. Therefore, I can’t wear straight leg pants, as suggested for the hourglass figure, because they’re always too tight on my thighs. I tend to wear either very wide leg pants or looser pants that can be more fitted in the waist by adding a belt (or altering them). And, since I like my wide hips and really don’t want to hide them or slim them down, I also like sweatpants with side pockets on me. Unfortunately that’s not a style one can wear everywhere every day lol (And, at the end of the day, your best asset is what you like about yourself and the best pair of pants for you is the one you feel most comfortable in.)
Yes I agree. I am theoretically a pear, but I have wide shoulders. My hips and shoulders about the same, but my bust is very small. And I have a spinal condition that makes my tummy always protrude, even when I don't have a lot of fat there, so I look better in high waist trousers.
Found your channel accidentally, on YT recommendation, was not looking for a fashion video. But was pleasantly surprised to find two components I value the most in any advice - practicality/ease of following, and explanation why something works in a particular circumstance and something else does not. Also, I was pleased to realise that most of the things you are talking about I discovered intuitively, so already have the right for me clothes in my wardrobe. Will just need to match them according to your recommendations. I am currently on a diet, having to lose a considerable amount of weight before I can wear the clothes I like, but subscribed to your channel anyway - watching your videos will be an additional motivation for me to succeed 😉
Thanks so much! I asked and you delivered!! I always resort to wearing dresses and of course I’m taking your advice and going for what you suggest. There are so many pairs of pants in closet I don’t wear because they aren’t the right fit for me. Time to donate them! You are truly the best!!
inverted triangle here 👐 this video was REALLY helpful !!! I've always been in a dilemma about what kinda pants would suit my body type. This video was what I needed !!! thanks !!
Thanks so much for your great videos! I have learned more from you in the last month watching your videos than I ever learned before. Just retired from my job, live in the southwest and need a complete wardrobe makeover. I’m still learning, but I am not afraid of clothes shopping anymore! Keep the videos coming!
ahhhh finally validation for why I've always struggled to like wearing pants (either uncomfortable or look bad more often than not both. I really only wear them when I don't have a choice, though newer curvy lines make the comfort thing a bit better) and gravitate toward dresses almost subconsciously. Defs get more compliments when I wear dresses/skirts too. Thank goodness for all the warm leggings/tights on the market now that lets me get away with wearing them almost year round (depending on location).
Hourglass here! I totally gave up on pants and wear dresses exclusively now, so I had to laugh when you said pants are a struggle for my shape and dresses will be my best friend. It’s so true!
I am a petite but very busty hourglass. When I gain weight it goes equally to my bust and hips, which are never more than 1 or 2cm difference. I don't like to wear high rise pants/jeans as I am very short waisted. If I wear high rise bottoms it looks like I have absolutely no definition and my bust is sitting on the waist band of the pants. Midrise all the way for me 😊 Which also helps with the gaping at the back of my pants too. I guess midrise is the equivalent of high rise for me 😆
I am an hourglass shape too with a short torso and larger bust. High waisted pants do not work for me either and I always wear mid-rise jeans with either a straight leg or boot cut shape. 😊
Ver useful tips, CHI. I agree with most of them per our own experience and observation of others. Though I have noticed that body shape and the torso/leg proportion are not necessary connected. For example, I am a rectangle, but with relatively longer waist and shorter legs which is quite common among southeast region Asian women. The other one that I have doubt is that wide leg pants for pear shaped women. Won't that make the bottom look even bigger than the top? I was thinking looser top with skinny leg pants or straight leg pants would balance top and bottom better for pear shape. It would be helpful if there are pictures to show real pear shaped women dressed that way. But anyway, your tips are very practical and have really helped me to dress my body. Keep up with the good work.
I'm not a pear shape, I'm an hourglass, but I can say from experience that while skinny jeans do work and accommodate our curves nicely, they tend to really cling to our curves. Sometimes I look a bit weird in skinny jeans because my hips are sooo much wider compared to my ankles. My ankles are so thin, so it just looks a bit weird haha 😅 That's why I prefer straight leg jeans, they don't cling to everything. Sometimes my legs look like sausages when the fabric is super tight lmao, since my legs are fleshier. Flowing fabrics are just really good for curvier types like hourglass or pear shape. Your thighs and hips also have more space in flowing fabrics.
I am also a hidden apple and never realized that was my body type. I look nothing like an apple so it's confusing. But the way the body type is described in this video makes tons of sense. I will lose fat everywhere on my body, inculding whatever little I have on my chest, before my body starts eating at the fat store in my tummy area. I got into abs at some point and built a nice 4 pack, the other 2 remaining hidden under my stubborn belly fat. I have made peace with my tummy and learned how to dress to de-emphasize it. At 0.81, my waist to hip ratio is borderline abdominal obesity, while at 18, my BMI is classified in the us as underweight, and I often hear that I look "skinny" (and wear a size 0 on a fat day). It's maddening.
Hourglass here🙌🏾 So challenging to find the right fit in pants. I have a short torso, so most pants fit like high rise on me anyway😆 What locations and brands are best for petite hourglass shopping/clothing?
It's definitely hard to find pants that fit, for the same reason you highlighted... and I always thought it was just me... but now I know it's a common issue for hour glass shapes and now I know what to do .. thank you
Oh my gosh, those plaid pants at 6:32 are just 😳. If those legs don't look shorter than short! I'm an hourglass with short legs. Thanks to my small waist I learned to sew some 50 years ago. Now 50 years later they finally come out with extra high waist, which comes to my belly button. It is so wonderful to purchase pants that come up to my waist.
I’m 36-30-35 and I’m considered a rectangle due to my big waist so I always prefer bell bottom pants so that it draws attention away from my big waist.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! I am a Pear, and have always been frustrated by that. But it's true: darker-on-bottom helps, and 'skimming' over the hips, helps ('The Pocket Stylist' book - their 'A' type). You know the right pair of pants, when you see them. I have to shop for some now, so this will help. Perfect timing! The demonstration of each type is perfect. '💎' 🌌 🎗👏👌
Thank you so much for doing this video. I am pear shaped but if I have short legs, I am not too sure about wide leg trousers. I have to say, I have had wide leg PJ trousers, and they are lethal - I have tripped over them so often, I gave up wearing them!! There should be a warning given with wide leg PJ's!!! I told a friend that I tripped over my wide leg PJ's while I was carrying a plate of spaghetti, and it went all over the wall. She agreed that she had tripped over her WL PJ's too. She had Tripped up the stairs and a few other occasions!!
I think it would be more helpful if she had some friends or other people try on the shapes she isn't ^^ it would be easier to see and judge if the tips are accurate or not~ anyways great video:)
Pear here! So wanted to point out with the side pockets, the first pair with the two rows of buttons would look awful ngl, but the second pair with the side pockets be a tad more subtle, I actually love that look, I love drawing attention to my hips as they're one of my best features, so long as I can smooth the hip dips aha, and I love how I look in extreme flares but I struggle to find one's that aren't hipsters, fastest way to a muffin top that I know 😭
I'm a pear, with a tummy, too! So much so, that I thought I was 'turning into' an apple! But I see from this, that my predominant type has been, and is, pear. Just that aging (and maybe, posture), accentuates the tummy. But that could also be the derriere (which is right behind it!). 🤔 Confusing. But, I'll know, when I find the right pair, 👍 usually, an office pant 🙄, knit pant (what I was wearing (successfully!) before my current uncomfortable jeans). But, synthetic is supposed to be better for the cold weather we're in, and is more weather resistant. ⛄☔👢
Oh wait, One question. Sorry is this is irrelevant to the video, How do i find my leggings size if im a boy who wants to get a pair? Is it the same as pants size? It's making my head spin :( (nvm i got my answer from another channel, now i know what to look for :D)
Hey! Petite I am your new Subscriber and I am really addicted to your vlogs so much you are my inspiration you’re so much cute and I wish you reach 200K Subscribers very very soon!!♥️😍🙈🥰❣️😘✨💖
I wish they made straight-shaped pants for my rectangular shape, they’re always too tight at the waist and at least 4 to 8 inches too big in the hips. I wear skirts and dresses a lot, I’ve never found jeans that fit right, and I’m 61 (I was closer to an hourglass in my youth, even then I struggled, but middle age made just my waist thicken at least 5-6 inches).
Great tips - can you do a video on pockets especially for pants. I’m a petite pear soft gamine and don’t like pants without back back pockets. What about paperbag straight for me?
I have wide shoulder and back with small burst and big butt my measurements are14, 37,32,45 from shoulder to butt in inches. Please somebody decide what type of body i have coz i don't know anymore. Please help

I don't know my body type. I thought i have pear body because of my hip width, but i swim a lot so i have wide shoulder, i am not Apple type either because i have smaller waist
I’m 5.1 pear shaped slim. It’s so hard for me to find wide leg pants that doesn’t make me look like penguin 😢so I always stick with slim or straight fit
I’m pear shaped, and I definitely hate the way tapered pants look on me. Bootcut or slight flare works best to balance out my hips. I’m high waisted, and I almost always have a gap at the back of the of my pants’ waist
Ciao, wow you taller than me, i'm 153cm😝never really focused about my height, yeah i know some rules but i wear what i want, yep noticed high waist looks better on me.
It's a very helpful video but somehow I'm still not sure what to wear. I think I am an hourglass shape but I do not have a very tiny waist but think I might get one when loosing weight.🤔
I always thought I have a pear shaped body because my hips are quite wide but after watching your videos I understood maybe I have more of an hourglass shape because my top part is not that narrow like a pear shaped body. And now I am understanding why all these years I was favouring dresses over pants, I always feel dresses are more comfortable & I hate pants 😅
Is it possible to be a rly skinny triangle? I’ve always had thicker legs, slim waist, but narrow shoulders, At first glance I look like a rectangle but I have a very tiny waist and thick legs in comparison, what do yall think?
Unfortunately, many brands are using “curvy” as a euphemism for plus-size, and some are just using for truly curvier shapes, it can be hard to tell what they mean.
Exactly I’m not plus size but I am very curvy so when I order the curvy and it’s huge it makes me upset.
You absolutely nailed the Hourglass's best pant options. I wish I knew them when I was a teenager and somehow forgot when I got older. It's good to see a reminder. Thanks.

So glad to see the curvy lines. I've had to fix my jeans so many times. Thank goodness I sew my own clothes now!!
Yeah, me too. I just buy jeans for my hips and fix the waist when I hem them.
Helpful and very well said. TH-camrs like you are hard to find. You’re a gem! Thank you so much for your knowledge ❤️
Thank you so much, Jana!

You deserve it Asha! I am glad to be helpful!✨
It's hard to find pants for hourglass shape. Thanks for the great tips!
I like how the content in the video quickly starts.
I'm glad that curvy lines will be available 🙂
Hourglass here! I totally gave up on pants and wear dresses exclusively now, so I had to laugh when you said pants are a struggle for my shape and dresses will be my best friend. It’s so true!
I am an oversize pear shape. I actually prefer midrise skinny jeans. Its makes my legs look a lot longer. If i wear wide pants, I look extremely boxy

@@dstern5859 I need to choose my clothes carefully or else I can look much bigger than I actually am, having a big bust makes it very difficult.
As a larger-busted, shorter-waisted woman, I think it’s super important to get really good lift in my bras, to avoid the bust sitting in hips look.
@@kimberlyperrotis8962 Totally agree, I have been fitted and update my bras regularly.

Bonjour, est ce que vous pouvez mettre des sous titres en français svp.merci
Love your channel! Can you tell me the best way to avoid too much fabric in the crouch of pants? I'm an hour glass.
Hello. What would the mix of an apple and rectangle body shape look like?
I used to be an hourglass, but after two babies i am an hourglass with an apple belly and everything looks weird
Inverted triangle here that looks good in paper bag waist pants and wide leg and super wide leg. No tapered legs and no pleats for me.
Paper bag jeans, high rise skinny jeans and high rise trousers will suit on pear shape body?
I have wide shoulder and back with small burst and big butt my measurements are14, 37,32,45 from shoulder to butt in inches. Please somebody decide what type of body i have coz i don't know anymore. Please help

Good advice!
I'm 5.1 m thin
My shoulder -17.1/2
My bust -32
My waist -25
My hips -34
Wt's my body shape ?? M confused between hourglass or inverted triangle
Hi, Please check out my blog for what body shape you have. Here is the link. 😊

I think you are hourglass
6:24 pear shape 😉❤️
I don't know my body type. I thought i have pear body because of my hip width, but i swim a lot so i have wide shoulder, i am not Apple type either because i have smaller waist
I love your videos.❣
I'm confused if I'm apple or rectangle
Any brand in canada which can use for pear shape body which will not have loose on the waist
I’m 5.1 pear shaped slim. It’s so hard for me to find wide leg pants that doesn’t make me look like penguin 😢so I always stick with slim or straight fit
If I’m 5ft and I want to wear flare leggings but I don’t want to wear heels can I wear sneaker
I’m pear shaped, and I definitely hate the way tapered pants look on me. Bootcut or slight flare works best to balance out my hips. I’m high waisted, and I almost always have a gap at the back of the of my pants’ waist
I'm pear and dislike bootcut pants on pear shaped women..makes legs look short..flare or skinny legs are better
Having hourglass type really made me to avoid pants they were never fit and comfortable so I always preferred skirts or one piece..
Ciao, wow you taller than me, i'm 153cm😝never really focused about my height, yeah i know some rules but i wear what i want, yep noticed high waist looks better on me.

Hii ma'am
Does moms jeans or straight cut jeans or jogger will suit for pear body shape having little big thighs?

Yes!

It's a very helpful video but somehow I'm still not sure what to wear. I think I am an hourglass shape but I do not have a very tiny waist but think I might get one when loosing weight.🤔

I think I was in denial I learned today that I am an apple shape and I am learning to dress my body
❤️❤️
Okay so now where the heck do I buy my pants I really need some for work😭😭😭😭
Really helpful tips! It explained a lot of my problems as a fellow "slim" apple shape.
Glad it was helpful!
2:52 rectangle shape body type.. ✌️
Thank you so much.
for curvy lines they always have the obese sizes. i haven't seen any stores that have curvy clothing with normal sizes.
Pear shaped. And I always wear darker shade pants.
Is it ok to be inverted triangle plus pear shape together?😑now what the hell does it means???
Are you sure you aren’t hourglass?
Short waisted pear here
Is it possible to be a rly skinny triangle? I’ve always had thicker legs, slim waist, but narrow shoulders, At first glance I look like a rectangle but I have a very tiny waist and thick legs in comparison, what do yall think?
You are pear/triangle and why can’t you be skinny pear?
