12:01 - i gotta say, im absolutely a pear body type but what i've figured is that straight or wide legged jeans look very unflattering on me while skinny and slim fit look really good as they accentuate my waist and curves. i think the reason might be that even tho im pear type, i've a petite body in general, so my lower measurements are significantly more than the upper body but still in general, the measurements are not too much. when i wear wide or straight jeans, they make me look a lot more like rectangle body type as they de-emphasize my curves while also making me look much shorter but with skinny jeans, they really accentuate the slight curves while also making me look slightly taller. so in conclusion, i think other factors such as your weight and height also influence what look's best on you along with the body types.

Same here. I'm definitely a pear but quite tall. The legs are long but the torso is short. If I wear highrise I look like shoulders on legs. Low rise works much better because it elongates the upper body.

Same here, I have zero curves (apart from my hips). When I wear straight jeans I lose the little amount of curve I have and I look like I have a rectangular body shape.... 😢

Same, I'm pear and tall, and whenever I try straight or wide leg, i burst out laughing in the changing room. I looks absolutely horrendous, kind of like a guy, really. And i look biiiiig in them I can only wear skinny, because that somehow makes me look a bit thinner.

    • @abhya12

@@miraxterrik i can totally relate. skinny jeans really are saviours often. btw have you tried bell bottom jeans? the ones that are figure hugging around the thighs but flared at the bottom. Ive been wearing those instead of skinny jeans lately and they look wonderful!

Glad to hear the things I've intuited over the years about what looks good on my body shape are echoed in this video. I'm rectangle/inverted triangle and I'm so glad high-rise came back because I think this rise is most flattering on me. I went my whole adolescence wearing mid and low-rise so when high-rise came back and I tried it on, it was like a revelation. Low-rise has also been trending again lately, but I feel like any and everything is in right now so I hope there continues to be a good variety of rises in stores like there currently is where I live.

I think I'm a rectangle leaning towards pear, and on the petite side. It's definitely a game of balancing proportions, and I find that high waist (especially ultra super high waists) works wonders. And yes, wide leg and bootcut jeans look good, but sometimes I feel that jeans defined the lower stomach pooch even more on me. I like wide leg slacks or pants/trousers that flows down in a lightweight fabric to conceal it. The thing with fashion is that there's always that one thing that becomes super popular and I really hated that. I hope all these different cuts stay and people are free to make choices that suit/flatter their body types.

I haven't wore anything low rise since my teen years, but I know I'd look much better if I created the illusion that my waist sits a few cm lower.
I got a tiny, short torso, long legs, fat thighs, and the hips don't even matter, bc the largest part of the body is below, on the thighs. Me with high rise jeans? Pants begin when the boobs end.
Me with low rise anything? Everything seems to be lower than it really is. Torso looks longer, legs are fine, and the hips seem to be where the thighs grow larger. I still won't go back to the early '00s tho.

I understood this 2 years back at 31. All through my youth, I was afraid of wearing jeans because only low rise jeans were available at that time. Plus I had bigger stomach and hips but well defined waist. People used to tell me I had to cover my stomach an hips with loose tops - but then I lost my waist shape and looked fat. Plus I used to wear skinny things at shoulders because my chest was slim- as a result I looked fat in the middle. Since 2 years I've begun to understand that I need to balance out proportions.

My body type is rectangle, but at the same time I'm on a short side, which means the only type of jeans that looks good on me are skinny (slim) jeans, because others just look too big on me (like I'm a little girl playing dressup with my mom's clothes 🤣), so I think heigh matters too...

5'2" rectangle here. I thought I'd look bad in wide leg jeans, but I was pleasantly surprised to find they look quite cute on me. I think the key is making sure the length fits perfectly. Of course baggy and long is its own aesthetic these days, but having the length fit your leg perfectly keeps it from looking like the pants have swallowed you up. I'm also sure straight jeans would look great on you, especially high-waisted if you go for that.
Finding jeans that aren't too long is impossible for me, so I've resigned to just shortening the hem myself. I found tutorials that show you how to shorten it while keeping the original hem.

Just to remind people, she said hourglass almost same width of shoulders and hips because it's the important parts to know your silhouette. Just because you have big bust doesn't mean you're an hourglass. Take a look at your shadow. It doesn't include your bust. It's your shoulders, waist and hips. Body shape is basically bone structure.

The only jeans I like are skinny but they are so uncomfortable to wear at the waist and hips, especially when sitting. My lower legs are still slim, so I don't want to wear straight or bootcut legs. This is a great informative video, I will try different styles you suggest but ultimately I can see myself changing to wearing leggings or tie/elastic waist trousers for comfort.

I liked the way you described each one. Well Done!! I think I belong to hourglass but the only thing no one addresses is the hip dips, which is more common than we think. those are not that evident in wide leg jeans but definitely show when I wear anything body hugging. those hip dips make my side hips look narrower from the front view. And to be honest I know it is natural but I feel very conscious of my body image because of these.

Wow thank you dear until now I never paid attention to what to buy.... At shops they don't even advice when asked which goes well with my body shape. Now I know what looks good on me. I am inverted Triangle shaped.

For round shaped body, I think its imp to wear a clothing with extra fabric around shoulders, wearing a jacket with shoulder pads or wearing tops with ruffle at sleeves..

Very informative! Personally, i think torso length affects rise choice. I'm a rectangle that leans inverted triangle, but I look TERRIBLE in high-rise due to my short torso. I find that low-rise hits me where mid-rise hits the typical person and high-rise bunches funny, is uncomfortable, and nearly touches my bra. I would be interested to know how torso length changes these recommendations...

    • @vanessaa7602
      @vanessaa7602 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Very true! Rise does matter. For me, I have a longer torso than my legs, so I choose high-rise wide leg trousers. This style looks good on me.

I think another very important aspect of this is how long or short your torso is… For instance, people were short torso look much better in midrise than high-rise jeans. And low rise can look OK on some people… I actually don’t think they look bad on me and I’m 60! But they’re just not as comfortable I think. I would love for somebody to focus a whole show on body type plus torso length!

I used to believe I have perfect hourglass body until one day I found out my shoulders are just maybe 1% broader than my hips. I do have a well defined waist, which was the main reason for me to assume I have perfect hourglass shape. Skinny jeans look good on me and show my curves and I always make sure to highlight my waist. Also, most times I flaunt my shoulders in sleeveless tops as my shoulders are also a bit more boney and well defined. I basically have an athletic body type with its fair share of feminine features as well😂❤

I'm somewhere between rectangle and hourglass. It's not my natural body shape but it's where I'm at now, due to hormones and getting a bit bulked up in my shoulders at the gym. Naturally I was a pear shape, which I really don't miss lol. I feel like I have much more freedom with my style now with my current body shape. I like defining my waist and trying to look a bit more hourglass. I just bought a pair of high rise slim fit jeans, which is a type of jeans I don't think I've ever worn before, but I really like how they look on me now. They definitely emphasize my hips and waist.
After looking through your whole video though, I can't help but wonder what body type low rise jeans could possibly look good on lol. Because you rejected that style aspect for every body shape you went through. Personally, I think it depends a lot on what sorta look you're going for. Women (typically with a rectangular body shape) who want to look more masculine tend to look really great in low rise slim fit or straight jeans, imo. It's the iconic tomboy. And I mean I like that look for myself as well, but for now I wanna try something different.

One thing you don’t take into consideration is: I‘m a normal weight rectangle with broad shoulders and narrow hips and if I try high-rise or mid-rise jeans, they’re too tight on the waist. And they’re likely to slip down because my waist isn’t much thinner than my hips. Aesthetics isn’t all, things need to be wearable, too.

I find that hourglass shapes still have to be careful and slightly change styles depending on whether they have a proportionally long or short torso. Definitely agree about no low rise.
