The PS3 mainline LBP games and LBP Vita's servers are officially shutting down... After a long hiatus of waiting for LittleBigPlanet's servers to be fixed, Sony has come to the conclusion to shut down most of the franchises older servers. While it is a sad time, LittleBigPlanet 3 for PS4 had it's servers fixed after so many months! The update made by LittleBigPlanet's Twitter account was met with backlash and anger, but I think we should all just be thankful that LBP3, at the very least was able to be successfully salvaged and fixed!

Update - So I guess LBP3 is getting a yet another patch. Mainly to fix some of the issues the first patch brought, but the big one is that Dive In is confirmed to be coming back! I doubt it was disabled by accident, but I guess they had plans of reenabling it sometime in the future.

Those hackers probably sit there in their dark rooms realising that they achieved nothing. The servers are gone for the earlier games and the ps4 one is probably untouchable now. Their powertrip is over. I truly hope they feel empty now, because I surely do.

It's likely they feel joyful, beacuse they're troublemakers you see.

Why would they feel empty? They killed 3 games for an entire console which means they accomplished their goal of being pieces of shit.

When I first heard this, it actually brought a tear to my eye. Hearing someone from a video game of all things encouraging me to hold onto my ideas, my creations, both inside and outside of LBP, it really moved me.
The situation is bittersweet, yes, but we can at least still go online again. But while the servers can be taken down, the memories will still remain. And I will never forget this series, which inspired me to create my own games.

This game was a huge part of my childhood, the whole creativity bit is a big part as to why I became an artist. Really feels like pieces of my childhood are slowly disappearing as I grow up. I will cherish every memory lbp1 and 2 gave me

It's straight up BAD ending if you had unfinished teenhood levels from LBP2 that meant the world to you try and finish and upload. There was no warning this would happen and you need the servers to import into PS4.
I literally have no choice to remake an entire 4 part (which was planned to be 6 part) level entirely from scratch, brick by brick by brick in LBP3 PS4 now if I want anyone but local friends to play it.
I'm literally emotionally devastated by this. I had levels I started as long as 10 years ago in LBP2 I went back to working like hell to finish, to make them best I can and realize my 10 year old vision, and finally upload them, and now that's all for fucking nothing other than showing my IRL friends. They meant so much to me and now they'll never have the chance to be played. without reamking them from scratch.
I should have uploaded them as locked when I had the chance but this attack came out of nowhere and we had no warning to pack everything up from LBP2.
I agree, the fact it was so sudden is honestly what screwed me & my friends over, too.
No chance to port anything over. Not even one last day to pack our things. It absolutely sucks.
@@Melodic-Vortex they could probably fix this without even patching the game by making some app to let you port/convert the back up data to PS4 without using the internet, you can already transfer the saves to USB but they have nowhere else to go. it should have worked locally like that already instead of requiring you to connect to the damn servers.
Modnation Racers didn't last nearly as long as it got shut down in 2016 but I think they at least made a damn announcement about it. Which I missed anyway.

So strange it is, to live to witness the death of your favorite franchise. I still remember LBP in it's prime. The future was bright. More thoughts, ideas, and creations than I could possibly comprehend; so many talented people. Such wonderful art and purpose, all created and contained in such a little game. A silly little game. It's been many, many years since that first day, since our first visit to that wonderous place. Some of us became master builders, constructing and weaving stories, characters, gadgets and gizmos to entertain and delight. Others became intrepid explorers, blazing trails through the wonderplane seeing what was on offer, creations of all kinds big and small, long and short. Others still maybe never fully found their place. Perhaps they were explorers, perhaps they were builders, perhaps both? Maybe they never made as massive an impact as others, maybe nobody ever saw the things they built. Maybe they were just there to see. Maybe they were just there to have fun. Perhaps that was their place. It matters not, their place was what they chose and what they chose was... unforgettable. Silly little dreamers in a silly little game. But the years wore on, the march of time seldom a kindly steward. We grew older, and our lives... changed, innocence fleeting in the wake of a harsh reality. Over time, our connection to that place began to fade, and soon our ability to reach it at all, in some places, simply vanished. Only one connection remains now, a single world floating alone, where once there were many. The others have faded, one by one. Of course they are not truly gone, no not dead, they live on with us. But we are cut off from the rest of them, leaving only a single house where once there were sprawling cities, but the connections are no more. Now only one is left. For how long, we don't know. Someday it too will fade. Just one little world. Just one little place. With some silly little dreamers, and their silly little game. Amazing, isn't it? How something so Little, can make so Big of an influence. Truly deserving of it's name.

I cannot express how sad I feel, LittleBigPlanet marked a before and after in my childhood and I will never forget it, I would like to thank the devs for everything they have done for LBP, for all the incredible moments they have given us, LBP 3 on PS4 will continue as usual, but that does not take away the sadness, I guess this is the end of LBP on PS3 and PS Vita. This saga has been one of the best things that has happened to me. Thank you all, Media Molecule, Sumo Digital, Sony and PlayStation. but above all, to the community, the most important pillar in this incredible franchise. #LongLiveLBP

Makes me so sad to see my childhood favourite game disappear on PS3. I was called “SpiderGeorge7” in 2014 and I made lots of test levels for LBP3. It’s sad to see my childhood go so early. I was working on my final level. Hello, Neighbor! LBP edition! This was going to be my most ultimate level yet, and I thought the DDoS attack was just staying for a couple of months, so I just kept working on it. Sadly it wasn’t. So I couldn’t express my final level to the world as a little thank you and goodbye for being so awesome.
Goodbye LittleBigPlanet, goodbye LittleBigPlanet 2, goodbye LittleBigPlanet 3 (PlayStation 3) and goodbye LittleBigPlanet PlayStation Vita.

This is... So depressing. I can't even fully comprehend it. I mean, it was a logical outcome, but still. LBP was such a huge part of my childhood
Edit: just wanted to add how much LBPVita helped me throughout my childhood, teenage years and even early adulthood. I used to take my Vita wherever I go and I always associated playing it with good times and cozy memories. And LBPVita was one of my absolute favorite games on the system. It's weird to say, but in some way it helped me get over my parents' bloody divorce. When I played multiplayer levels I would constantly talk to other players and got a lot of encouragement from them. The LBPVita community was relatively small compared to the mainline games, but that's what made it feel so... Warm and close. I wish more people could experience it and it's sad that they won't.
Well, it's a good thing that I've managed to download quite a few of the levels and that the Story Mode will still be available (which, in my opinion, is the best one in the series).
The LBP is gone, but it most certainly won't be forgotten.
There is currently a private custom server being worked on for Vita!

This is very sad to see. I've spent nearly 13 years on LBP. Sure, it may have not been consistent but I always went back and created something no matter what. Fuck this hurts a lot.
The service being shut down is literally torn my heart apart.. I was homeschooled so little big planet was like my only access to the outside world.. essentially all my favorite levels.. are just gone
techically the servers for the ps3 games are still up, as it's the same server as for lbp3 ps4, but the communication protocol has changed which requires an update to the client (the game) which they didn't make for the PS3 games, and the dive in and challenges probably haven't been finished yet to get the servers back up asap
oh and the vita server, as of now is still technically up too, but returns a 503 error just like the main servers did when they were down for maintenance, and how it did before the announcement
You know, I knew this would happen at some point, but with the whole DDoS situation putting so much attention on the LBP series, I thought it would happen a lot later.
This. This game. I grew up with this game. I got it when I was five and have loved it ever since. This game inspired my dreams of becoming a game designer. I wanted to show this game to my kids.
I haven't been able to play my PS3 since it was unplugged when we got my PS4, but now I feel a mix of hatred and relief about the PS4.
I feel emotionally drained right now, and even though I'm not crying now, I know I will, very soon.

I’m about to cry, my ps3 has been down and got it working again, and I was about to play LBP 2 and 1, it’s all gone, those levels, I had the best time in 2013 and it’s gone but everything that has been seen in the past has to move on and you to, Rest In Peace LBP 1 and 2 Community, This is the end of a legendary era Edit: Those levels Im referring to is play the online servers on LBP 1&2 not on the PS4, and how did this didn’t get a heart (not begging) though that day was a hard day that I went through after this happened
Is not the end of the lbp 1 and 2 community in general, just for PS3 and Vita. Still it hurts cause I used to play lbp 3 with my brother back in 2018 and recently some time ago when I tried to come back to PS3 I realize it was gone, happily I bought it for the PS4 for $20, which is fairly cheap, so I can still play this amazing game, hope you can move up to PS4 with the lbp saga, and if you decide to grab the third one and play, add me so we can play together :)

I'm 100% with you, I just got my ps3 repaired, and I was hoping to play some lbp2 with someone, make some friends, replay old levels I used to spend countless hours on. It's all gone now, and I can't help but feel really sad about it

I'm kinda upset about this whole situation, I finally managed to receive my busted PS4 back and LBP was one of the first games I really want to get for that nostalgia dopamine. But to comeback and see them not only being constantly attacked but permanently shutdown is saddening to me. LBP was a part of my earlier childhood life and I'll always cherish those moments I've had whether it's me surviving The Angry birds bomb survive level for the first time or beating the story of LBP 1.

YESSS THE ANGRY BIRDS BOMB LEVELLL i booted my ps3 up with my neighbor who also spent years playing the game with me and just seeing it all gone hurt so bad. We wanted to play that exact level. The skateboard level, an obstacle course, etc. It hurts.

If you got all the commutie ones then you can get the plat neither can you do pirates of the carrabiean either since that dlc got removed years ago

Little Big Planet made me realize how much I enjoy the logical side of things, if not for LBP I wouldn't have bothered getting into software development, sad to see it finally coming to an end...
I actually completely relate. I’m a 21 year old software engineer but remember being 11 and learning about combinatorial logic in LBP2, some of that knowledge actually helped me in my computer systems course
This is so sad. LBP 1 and 2 were my childhood, and hearing their servers get shut down just breaks my heart. I'll always cherish the memories I had playing with my online friends and having a good time. RIP to those LBP servers 💔
I was really happy when i could play online but when i saw their Twitter post i got sad really quick... Its sad to know that people who couldn't play lbp1,lbp2 and lbp vita will have to use a timesaver level :( Pretty sad to see these games fading away... Even if people say that lbp3 is bad im gonna try to have LOTS of fun because one day the lbp3 serves will also be shutted down... Littlebigplanet was so important for my life, i started to play lbp when i was 5! And now i am 12 :(

@@T0M3665 WELL it is and it isn't. It has the biggest amount of levels and items because it has lbp1 and lbp2 levels, but sumo had to rush their game and at launch it had lots of issues

The original LBP and LBP2 will always have a special place in my heart. I enjoyed playing LBP3 but the first 2 games were really like nothing I had ever played before and thats what made them so special. We get to keep the LBP3 servers running, but at what cost? All our original memories will stay just that, because now we can’t revisit them. The amount of ps friends I made with this silly little game and the hours I spent with my sister building terrible minigames are something I’ll always cherish, but damn does it hurt to hear

Man… I’m in my math class and this new almost made me start crying loll. Ive been playing LBP since 09, I was literally 5 years old playing the first little big planet. My father bought a PS3 on launch being that he was and still is a hug PlayStation fan. At some point in 2009, he bought me a pre owned little big planet from a GameStop that dosent exist anymore. It’s all been a journey since then. I have so many memories of LBP, all the online friends I made, playing levels with people I never knew and would never know. Default brown knit, Graveyard tuxedo, red Roman cape, the white and black pants from the desert chapter, and the boots from the final chapter. My first sackboy will always live on in my memory. I was there when little bug planet 2 came out, while I didn’t play too much through the story of the game I adored and still do the online community. So many levels, so many randos played with. I was there when Little big planet 3 dropped, i bought it on my PS3 slim (the original’s cpu fried :( ) and while it was donkey cheeks on PS3, it was still LBP. Eventually I stopped playing and recently I wanted to relive all of it. I bought my self a copy of LBP2, (being that I lost the original disc) and a new DualShock 3. First thing I did was go to the community tab, only to receive Error 403… I thought ‘maybe my PS3 dosent work with wifi anymore’ but I was signed into Psn. I kept myself updating, watching LBP news videos and trying the servers everyday. This new that the PS3 servers are permanently shut down is genuinely heartbreaking. I love LBP, I love the community. And with the shutdown of the original place of it all, it’s like I lost my best friend. Thank you media molecule, thank you sumo digital, and thank you sony, for my childhood. #LBPsaved
R.I.P Little big planet servers 2008 - 2021
LBP1 and 2 were my entire childhood. When everything was so awful LBP was there for me. I made so many friends, explored my style, and things I liked every day. It was amazing. Losing this game is like the loss of an old friend. I know I'll get over it eventually, but in the moment, it's heartbreaking. Thank you LBP devs for all the joy you've brought me over the years. All my friends too.

when i came back to this game i was hoping for a well heathy community, but now i realize that my child hood is dissapearing right in frount of me and theres nothing i can do about it. today i spent most of my time trying to go back on youtube to the things i used to watch i only found one thing through which was little big planet. I started playing in 2016, and now, half a decade later, littlebigplanet 2, MY FAVORITE GAME IN THE SERIES, AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE'S FAVORITE, SERVERS HAVE PERMA-SHUT DOWN. IM GONNA SCREAM
I saw this happening one day. I packed up all my skins and creative items in 5 (or 6, can’t remember) locked levels for storage in case LBP2 went down for good.
For anyone who's interested, our next move as a community should honestly be to get Sumo to fix LBP3's remaining bugs over the coming weeks/months. it is still a major issue, & poorly optimised.
If we can't have the originals, we at-least deserve a more stable game.

In my opinion lbp3 is horrible. I couldn't play it for so long. Full of bugs, poorly designed levels, I never can play online with someone else without getting disconnected due to unknown errors... Sumo digital killed little big planet.

I just bought LBP3 (digital) for the PS4 a few weeks ago and was heartbroken to learn of the dos attacks which brought down the servers. I played the hell outta 1, 2 & to a lesser extent, 3 back in the day on the PS3. So sad to see the servers for PS3 and Vita shut down for good. Just can't wrap my head around why anyone would want to destroy one of the best franchises on the PSN. Who ever is responsible should be ashamed. At least we have the LBP3 servers for PS4/PS5 back... for now. Finally managed to log on and got all 94% of my LBP1 loot and 89% of LBP2 added to my LBP3 account (PS4). Still missing most of the 4 player prize bubbles. Bummer:(

Rip lbp 2008-2021. And rip us ps3 players. We were the og servers. Damn I'm gonna miss playing with my friends, diving in and playing community levels epsecially Jeff the killer and the bomb survivals. Welp...it was good while it lasted and I'm thankful for the memories❤

@@sir3127 Right like it was so much fun❤ I think how to beat it you had to run from him after he flew over the bridge then after he gets you a second time in the house from jumping through the roof and then after the bridge will open and you have to run until the end and the two jeffs will appear and you have to try not to get killed by them and then you just keep running until you reach the leaderbaord and boom you beat the game😁

I was so close on getting platinum on LBP2. I'm kinda disappointed knowing that I'll never ever get it now.

This trilogy, one that I'd been playing for twelve years, and since I could barely hold a controller. This game was beyond my childhood, it was a way in which i expressed my creativity, explored thousands of worlds created by others, and met untold amounts of friends. To see this franchise, which has harbored feature length fanmade movies, entire games with rich stories and gameplay, and a once-thriving community, it's surreal to know i've outlived such a profound thing.

Lbp1 and 2 were such a massive part of my childhood. I remember coming back from school to play community servers with my siblings. We'd always play bomb survival, skateboard, jeff the killer, and many other games. Rest easy lbp

mann that hurts because i remember playing the demo for lbp2 on my ps3 because i couldnt really afford it.... i remember when i bought the full game i was the happiest person ever but this is depressing :(
I’ve heard of these games for s long time, but I’ve never played them. But even so, a very much feel for you all, seeing these servers go... and as the guy said, Halo 360 servers are shutting down as well, so even more so can I feel for ya. But hey, at least Halo Master Chief Collection is still a thing, and LBP is still at least alive. I hope that things end up turning around for the better, for the entire LBP community.
And hey, I might end up playing these games at some point. They remind me a bit of Project Spark, a game I dearly miss...(I know there’s Dreams, but I don’t have a PlayStation...I’m an Xbox kinda guy).

Out of all the game servers that have been shut down over the years, this one undoubtedly hurts the most for me. I havent actually played LBP in a long time, but it was one of my favorite game series growing up and knowing all those Vita levels are just gone forever legitimately makes me tear up.
It’s a shame really. I’m saddened to see lbp 1, 2, 3 (PS3), and PS Vita servers to go..I had so many memories with the games. These Games will hold a special place in my heart. If this was the only outcome to make lbp 3 (PS4) Playable again I’m okay with that. Things don’t always last forever. Thanks LBP 2 For the memories ❤️
Thank you for everything you did, developers. This game was my childhood and I have fond memories of me and my friends play natural disaster games, especially tsunami stuff. Minecraft TNT etc, I loved the first game. I unfortunately had the chance to play LBP 2 but I will definitely play it. I'll never forget this game franchise.

Danm this breaks my heart, since my only console is a ps3 and littlebigplanet was the biggest part of my childhood ever Its just sad to see.
It does really suck, but I guess there was nothing more they could do, still happy that sumo and sony did their best and we got SOME things back. Even if we lost challenge and dive in.

This sucks not only for the players but also content creators. I'll miss your LBP videos. They will now be great reminders of what was a group of great games with a great community.

This makes me so sad :(. This game had the biggest impact on my life, i still remember the first day i played and the first dlc i bought. I met some of the best people on here. This game was my whole childhood i woke up and went to sleep thinking about this game, obsession would be an understatement to describe how addicted i was to this game. So many good memories down the drain. I’m so upset. The music, the levels, and the overall concept was everything to me as a child and teen LBP will forever have a special place in my heart ❤️.

for me the server still feel down. reason being is it is actually impossible to play online. if I join using dive in it *always* says failed to load profile. if I host whoever joins gets stuck in an infinite loading screen. I looked up the fix and the only working fix doesn't work for me so looks like I got my hopes up

you have to buy it a second time if you had PS3 LBP3 it looks like. but it's only like $13 new online.
worst thing is I bet the saves aren't compatible between the two platforms.
This Hits Hard Little Big Planet 1 & 2 were such a huge part of my childhood and 1 especially was one of the first games I played alot online being able to see peoples other amazing creations and make my own was incredible! to me as a kid Littlebigplanet shaped the person I became to be Ive always loved making and creating my own things and even after moving on from lbp I stuck with games that hit that creative itch like Minecraft. I still have couch local co-op with my friends every known and then and its a blast. this is hard to process, but Il never forget LBP1 & 2s Online and the amazing memories it brought me

The lbp 1 and 2 servers shutting down is like losing a good friend to me because i use to actively play lbp from 2011-2015 and the only reason i stopped is because my ps3 had issues with the fan turning into a jet engine. And when it got fixed I still played the hell out of LBP2. Rest in peace LittleBigPlanet 1 and LittleBigPlanet 2 you will always have a place in my heart

I remember the skull level in LBP 1 and the dog that joins you halfway through, me and my siblings called it lucky.
We tried to save him so many times, even reseting the level, after hours we finally saved him however broke out of the map at the same time.
I hope the moding community can preserve the vita one as well, some levels on it where insain!

My life as a young adult disappears with the good times spent playing with my little sisters on Little Big Planet 1 and 2 (the 3 was less good for us), I was able to take pictures of certain particular levels with the PS4 to be able to have a memory of that time.

Im still devastated by this… initially hearing about it was like a huge blow straight through the stomach and it feels exactly the same even now…
I know LittleBigPlanet 3 is buggy and all, but the fun is not over in LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS4, PS5). All the community levels are still accessible. Don’t feel too sad. At least you can still import LBP1 and LBP2 stuff into LBP3, with the exception of your levels on your moon in LBP1 and 2. Of course, LBP2 will always be the most memorable game.
As someone who's only LBP experience was PSP and Vita, it honestly upsets me that someone out there ruined the community before I could truly experience it.
I can't imagine how hard of a decision it must've been for the developers to make. Sure, it's sad the LBP 1-3 (PS3) servers got shut down, and I feel bad for those communities, but at the very least, those levels can still be played.
With the Vita levels, they're gone. All those fun and amazing levels, gone. The unique levels that could only be created on the Vita, gone.
All because some no-life thought it would be funny.

This reminds me that one of the worst things around videogames in general is how preservation is handled, because games are an interactive medium and are expectadly harder to preserve than movies, shows and music.
But with how Sony even looks at PS1/2 games and Nintendo going after emulation, it seems like the industry doesn't want even some of the best games ever made to be available to newer generations.
In fact, a lot of game remasters nowadays are for already modern looking games but not older ones that aren't that well emulatable.
Fans of id Soft and Valve games are lucky they even got modding scenes and even open source code because that wouldn't happen in a current state of the industry that fears that access to older things affect sales of new things.
Even Hideki Kamiya made a comment about game preservation.
This situation really bittersweet, I woke up to find that lbp3 had updated and the servers where back it really suck that the older games' servers are gone for good I use to play lbp2 a bunch with my friends at their house but now that these servers are gone we won't be able to ever play our favorite levels. What makes this bitterness even more bitter is the fact that probably in the next few years the lbp3 servers will also be gone. It's really sad since I have a lot of nostalgia towards this franchise, and seeing those servers go really hurts since I have a lot of memory's with those games. #LongLiveLBP
After closing the servers of the second part, that very part of my childhood died, because I played with friends in this game, had fun on the moon and visited other players, and after closing the servers of little big Planet 2, it just made me sad and miss the servers
These servers shutting down and me moving onto college and then a career REALLY felt like the end of my childhood.
hearing some of the LBP games and servers shut down is really sad, i never had a PS3 or PS4, or even a PS Vita, but the fact is, when i went to my friends house to play games and i got to play LBP3... i had fun, gonna miss it
I actually was crying when I saw this, I've had so many memories on these games but the games have to go at some point.
LBP was my life as a kid, it got me through a lot of harsh times, especially LBP2. I’ll never forget all of those friends I made, the drama, the fun times, etc... hope those people are doing well nowadays.
