Over the years that I've been speedrunning this game, I've discovered a lot of very small, but interesting details about LBP1 that seem largely unnoticed by the community, without a good opportunity to show them all off until now.
I was also determined to make this list up of things that were genuinely not very well known too, as I feel like I often see the same few pieces of trivia for this game being shared around constantly, so I hope that I've achieved that.

the sfx that aren't from stock sound packs are all made by him
number 16 is interesting to me because the rigging for the X and O buttons is actually used in future games, where you can see sackboy pressing the buttons. i bet the idea was brought up in lbp1 but never implemented until later
Man, 10 year old me would have loved to have known about the controller reassign trick shown at 1:34.

Zola was originally meant to be the cause of the fire. In the unused Seaside area, the Creator Curator said that “Zola likes to play with fire”.
Also, the zipper is for an unused concept where the levels were inside of you, and you opened your zipper to use the popit.
Hmm... no WONDER he's so absent in his levels.

what I would've included is that one glitch where you can fly all over the map by just jumping inside a tight small box made out of a light material that has exactly enough space for your hitbox (don't know if it's in lbp1 though, definitely it was in lbp2 and I assume it would work in lbp1 as well but I'm not entirely sure)
It does work in LBP1, in fact I was doing it yesterday. I think I didn't even think of including it because back when I used to play it as a kid it was a pretty well known trick.

Something I've randomly found out about myself that I'm pretty sure is in the first game is that the wooden flamingo uses a cardboard material that is actually grabbable.
Another thing I can't fact check right now if it's only true for the later two games is I think there's a baby blue led light used in the end of the bunker right around the conveyor that uses a color that isn't selectable (in lbp2 and lbp3 at least, and I don't know if this is the only instance of this)

Fact 101: If you look inside the emitter on the boss in The Terrible Oni's Volcano, you'll see a weird face of probably one of the developers for the game. It's not seen when the boss actually shoots the projectiles, though.
Fact 102: Horrible Gas is completely different in LBP2 compared to LBP1, and the dissolve effect is also entirely new.
@@Wheagg Fact 103: There was originally going to be an ice hazard, but it was removed because it made the game lag too much.
Fact 104: in earlier development, Sackboy himself couldn't manually move across layers, and had to rely on automatic systems for that instead

@@kellymountain There's two faces that appear. Arnold and what I guess is the previously mentioned developer, with a small warning icon next to their face.
The controller hack saved me so many times as a kid, it's how I 100% the game as kid because I didn't have any local friends that played, and ny online friends were in different timezones so I didn't get to play with them too often

This is pretty much exactly what I was trying to go for, so I'm very glad to hear this.
I find it both entertaining and terrifying that some of these facts have pretty horrifying implications if you were to naturally encounter them ingame, like the permadeath in the pod and the corrupted sackboy emotetion faces
Fun fact: In LBP1, some of the magic mouths have stickers on them (for example, the king and queen's magic mouth). Normally, it wasn't possible to sticker a magic mouth until LBP2 or 3.
1:51 So THIS is why, when applying stickers to cover Sackboy's body, the hand suddenly becomes "untextured." Some other cosmetics, like the Bunny Tail and the Pan, screw up player animation proportions. From memory, it gives you longer legs, and lets you move your hips around much further than normal.
19:43 This bug can also occur in a couple different ways when the PS3 is overheated, or played for a long time. Sometimes objects become completely black when any stickers are attached (including explosive decals), and return to normal when the stickers are deleted. Other times, only one or two stickers may be visible on the object with completely messed up dimensions--sometimes super massive, tiny, and/or with bizarre UV distortions not matching the object they're placed on. They can also lock sticker placement to specific sections of objects regardless of the cursor's position or bomb explosion location--as if an imaginary grid was enabled (likely also from UV distortions/mismatches).

Pretty wild that some stuff in the story levels is straight up impossible in Create Mode, especially when MM stressed to Sumo to not do exactly that

Idk if it happend to anyone but back in 2012 when I was playing lbp 1 the little sackboy puppet you can hold was actually blinking. And when I use it in 3 it doesn't happen.
The ones i knew:
Being able to move the sock puppet mouth
Im not sure if you mentioned these two because i didnt watch the full video yet, but if you slap another player while holding the frying pan object as your hand accessory, the sound will be unique.
And if you tweak Terrible Oni's floating emitter, the projectile image will be a profile of a random guy.

If you try to save the LittleBigPlanet logo at the end of the introduction in create mode the game freezes
It's interesting how this game was made. Why are the candles in the first wedding level not lethat if the actual item is? And so many other things that seemingly make no sense like that sound thing not being on the usual 3 layers on that crocodile.
I'd love to see more of this, maybe in LBP2 and 3 and prehaps even LBP PSP and Vita and Karting or something like that. Love these videos you are making, tas!

Talking of the unobtainable music, you should've mention the unobtainable stickers that you can still use by attaching them to the sackboy and then using whereever you want
Is it at all possible to play ANY LBP game these days without original hardware? My PS3 fat died some 5+ years ago. I tried RCPS3 but have never managed to get the original LBP to work. Anyone got suggestions for how to play in 2024??
Your best bet is to re-try RPCS3, but PS4/5 can play LBP3, and you can buy it digitally still.
One thing you could’ve mentioned is that some characters actually have unique mouths behind their magic mouth such as the King, just make it invisible
By far the weirdest decision by MM was making the Pod a level, on top of having no safeguard whatsoever for accidentally breaking it. I still remember when the God glitch was a thing, and you could copy modified pods full of objects and logic.
I mean, that's probably the simplest way to get the game physics running, and it NORMALLY isn't exploitable
Out of bounds and behind the scenes stuff like this has always been really fascinating to me for some reason. Amazing video, very well done!

Here’s a fact that wasn’t mentioned, the sound used for the transition from The Collectors second phase to his third phase is called “sumo death” and is also used for the sumo enemies in The Islands

ah ok just wanted to make sure! honestly thinking about replaying LBP now though, i mainly played them when i was a kid so hard to remember most of it, really only remembered the collecters levels in LBP 1
Nowadays, a tank in a video game isn't child friendly, even in a cartoon style.
i never knew the story levels had so many quirks and objects not available in the player create mode, i always thought they could theoretically be recreated by the player one to one

- Oddsock does just about the same thing Sackboy does.
- Swoop and Small Toggle do what looks like a falling animation.
- Big Toggle just disappears. No fade out either, just *poof*.
