    What kind of power plant do you usually use to produce electricity in your city?

      I like using the Advanced Wind Turbines (situated at the reservoir with the Green Plains map)😊. I'm shopping for a new laptop, could you please mention what pc you're using to run your city?

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you exclusively build advanced wind turbines? You would need 32 to make the same amount of electricity as a nuclear power plant!
      Right now I am using a Ryzen 5900X, GTX 1070, 32gb of ram, and an NVME SSD. It's a little bit overkill for what I need but I have absolutely no issues playing, recording, and editing videos.

      @@jester.Gaming Thanks for sharing! Yes I exclusively use the AWTs because I discovered that, with my electricity budget at 100%, its just easy for me to plop a few of them and be in the green whenever I begin to have low coverage. In another build I also have a dam after the river confluence and just before the bridge, there's an area with high water flow.

      Thanks FGI, I appreciate the support! I have a saved game from each and every episode ... just in case I need to go back for some reason. I think this is one of the few times it was needed! Eventually I'm planning on making a time-lapse of building the entire city.

    I have a problem in my little town that even though I have enough electricity and my power lines are connected it’s still saying the buildings need electricity, I have no idea what to do.

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi JAYMO! There are a couple things I can think of ...
      It could be that not all sections of your city are properly connected. For example if you have an industrial area off to the side it might not be close enough to connect to the buildings of the main city. You may have to connect different areas of your city with powerlines. I have this every once and a while when I am expanding a city.
      Are you using solar power? If you are and also using the day-night cycle your power production will be reduced at night.
      How is the traffic in your city? If you're using coal or oil power plants they may not be getting deliveries of resources. You can check their reserves in the building info view. If this is the problem you can improve your traffic flow, increase outside connections (add rail or boat), or add a local industry to provide the needed raw resources.
      I hope this helps!

      I'm using two nuclear power plants at the moment and I'm not sure a hydro dam would be suited for the map that I am using for Lakewood. It's something I've always wanted to try but have heard horror stories about it. Almost 1000 hours and I've never used a dam before!

      That is correct gigabyte9584! Your power will transfer between buildings that are close and the power lines are needed for long distance between buildings.

      It definitely takes a little while to get used to ... I went through many cities when I first started. Don't feel bad about starting a new city, keep learning as you go and apply your knowledge! You could also make multiple saves of the same city and go back to an old one if things aren't working out. This is usually what I do when I am planning an episode out - I have a save for each episode and can easily go back to a previous save if things aren't working out. You can also start with unlimited money until you get a feel for how the mechanics work but I would keep unlocks as they are. Welcome to Cities: Skylines!

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey psilysdm, is your power source connected to the residential buildings? If the blue area surrounding the power source (windmills or coal powert plant at the start I believe) is not connected to the blue area around the residential zone you will have to run a power line between them to connect everything

    I’m new to skylines, but I do know some basics, what I don’t get tho is how to fuel the coal power plant back up? I surrounded it with yellow buildings, I gave it a massive road straight to the highway to get them out quicker. But still in some random but big patches, the power goes out? Because of the too little power. Even been surrounding the place with windmills and water wind mills

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey bfsupportclasswontgiveyoua5622, your power buildings will resupply automatically assuming you have an outside connection (all will have a highway connection at the start by default). You can click on the building and check out how much material it has in stores for consumption. If you have bad traffic these resupply vehicles may be stuck and taking longer to deliver.
      The windmills and advanced wind turbines will produce variable power levels depending on where they are placed (need areas of high wind). If not optimally placed their production levels will be limited.
      How are your power levels for the city? If you go to the power info view are you producing more than consuming? You may need to either increase budget or build additional power plants. Also, make sure everything is connected with either power lines or blue electrical area - maybe only a portion of your power producers are connected to the grid. Power level will also fluctuate depending on usage...day/night, cold weather, etc.
      I hope this helps!
