    I noticed when I lowered the budget for the medical clinic, average helth for everyone dropped big time, even though everyone was still in the coverage area, and only treating 1 person, and raising it immediately made everyone healthier.

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good observation Andrew! Coverage for citizen health and medical service vehicles must be unrelated in the budget panel. What you saw would indicate that the changing the budget only shows how it will affect vehicle coverage but other aspects aren't shown.

      @@jester.Gaming Interesting they wouldnt actively display such an influentual feature of budgets
      I always felt the area of influence visual they use is complex enough that you cant imagine what its like when road coverage is 50% more effective. Perhaps they need other shades alongside the green on the roads. One shade is coverage at 150%, normal is at 100%, and a third shade for when at 50% budget.
      The scaling aspect makes sense, area is a square increase so exponetionally the lowered budget has such a difference, for the same reason im glad the increase is tailored, it would be wayyy too good if it followed the same curve below 100%

    The budget should be kept at 100% because that is where the services are most cost-effective. Close a few facilities and increase the budget beyond 100%, and you end up paying more for the same services. And the same happens when you have too many facilities at less than 100%.

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel like that might be the case for city services - police, fire, medical. However, things like electricity and water may benefit from a slight increase in budget over creating a new facility. I don't have the numbers to back this up but money management isn't too critical after the first little bit... once a city is established you'd have to try and go bankrupt!

    Just caught up, seen every episode so far and i really like it.
    Really nice that you have fixed the sound problem in the beginning of the series.
    Also i think you could 'gain' more by speaking more confidently, ex when you explain something you voice over is great, but when you are more creative you seem to loose some of your confidence.
    (you have your style of play and editing, you should not have to 'defend' the choices you make as for what you do when it comes to adding content to youtube/ creating new videos.)
    If anyone gets bored they will leave, those of us who stay like what you do, so don't bother with whether or not if we like it.
    And i think you should try making 2 types of videos for city skyline, 1 the 'how to' and 2 you just playing it the way you want to.
    Anyway keep it up!

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Jonh Silver, I appreciate you taking the time to leave some feedback and advice. I'm glad you are enjoying the series and I'm sorry it took me this long to respond.
      One of the reasons why there is a bit of a difference between the two types of episodes is that I use a bit of a script when I'm explaining certain aspects of the game. I do a little bit of research and put it all together to make sure I don't miss anything or give incorrect information. Admittedly when it comes to the more creative sessions when I'm just playing and doing random things within the city it's a lot tougher for me to just speak to describe what I'm doing or narrate what's going on. This is something that I struggle with and it tends to hold episodes up because I have a limited time to make them and it takes me a long time to record things (too long!). It's something that I'm trying to get through but seems to be taking a little bit of time since I don't record often enough. I'm trying different things each week to try and get into a routine and/or method for making videos that I like.
      I may make another playlist using series that contains only the tutorial/learning episodes. It'll be a bit tough to split them up completely now since they're all mixed together. Perhaps in the next series!
      Welcome to the channel jonh Silver!

    • @jonhsilver3642
      @jonhsilver3642 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jester.Gaming ohh Cool
      you just seemed like you knew it by heart when speaking from script, nice job then!
      Yea it would be a strange point in your current series to split it up i two types.
      i am just happy to see a current series of City skyline running, so it confused me a little that it's both a 'normal' play trough for you as well as an 'how to'.
      Still i think it's nice that, at least to me is clear that you like making videos, when you seem a little unsure of what you choose to do and how, but i am under the impression, that those who keep coming back to see what you have done, really like it.
      So i think when you switch between script, where you give of a vibe that says ' i got this' where when you go creative, try to speak like as if it's to a buddy, more like Bob Ross vibes if you get what i mean?
      anyway keep it up, and you do you your way (thumbs up)

      Thanks john silver, I appreciate the encouragement! I understand what you're saying. Ideally one day it will just be as easy as sitting down for a little bit and being able to play the game without having to worry about what I'm saying or how I'm saying it ... it will be much more natural and fluid. I'm extremely lucky to have the reception that I have had so far so I must be doing something right so far.... but it can always be better! :)

    Help! I cannot find ANY info on google... My economy panel is different on console.
    On the economy menu, under the Income/expenses tab, in the income category you will see "citizen" and a $ amount next to it, under that is "tourist" with a $ amount next to it.
    The tourist $ amount is listed on another tab as Tourist commercial Zones and public transport profits.
    Well, my question is, what is the "citizen" $ amount? It isn't listed anywhere else as public transport profits or commercial profits.
    It is really annoying because my entire economy depends on a number I don't understand.
    When the number next to citizens is at $75,000.00 I'm in the red losing between 5k-10k... When the number is $90,000.00 I'm in the green.
    This number constantly goes up and down. I have the day night cycle off btw.
    I find it absolutely absurd that the game doesn't explain this at all. The info for economy on console is a fucking joke.
    Anyway, much appreciated if anyone can let me know.

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bryan, the sliders are for setting different day and night budgets. Some services are not used as much at night and can be reduced. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with this since I usually disable the day/night cycle.

    So what’s the best percentage for maximum efficiency for each service (budget)

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dorian, welcome to the channel - great question! You'll get the best bang for your buck with a 1% increase for services that have vehicles associated with them such as police, fire, medical, garbage, roads, and parks. Unfortunately after that it becomes a little more complicated. You would have to look at the cost of a new building and the weekly upkeep compared to the increase in weekly upkeep of your current buildings by increasing the budget. Increasing the budget is more useful for when you're starting your city and maybe don't have the money to put in a new electricity plant/water pump but can still increase their output by changing the budget at not a real significant cost to you. As your city grows larger these changes in budget become significantly more expensive since these services have a larger base expense and it's more cost efficient to put in a new building. To be honest I don't really play around with the budgets too much .... I do the 1% increase for the extra vehicle and then whenever I need a new service I put in a new building. I hope this helps! :)

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Pastora! The two sliders are for day and night. Your citizens and city go through a day and night cycle ... wake up, go to work/school, return home, sleep, etc. In theory your city will need less resources at night since most of your citizens will be sleeping. I don't distinguish between day and night for the city so I leave the sliders the same. Unfortunately I wouldn't know where to begin when it comes to optimizing the budget for day and night cycles!

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey gigabyte9584, your city services should rarely be above 101% (that 1% will give you an extra vehicle for many services at a fraction of the cost). You start getting diminishing returns after around 120% (the increase in cost is not worth the value you're getting) and it might be cheaper in the long run for you to build a new building rather than increase cost of what you already have. Your utilities will fluctuate a bit, having them below 100% is useful when you have a small city because you're producing more than what you generally need at the start.

    • @gigabyte9584
      @gigabyte9584 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jester.Gaming oh, OK. So glad you told me this because I started to cut down the budgets during night time and then once the daytime rolls around the services start to run smoothly because thinking about it, it does not make sense to have health, emergency, and leisure services up higher at night since less services happen at night.

      Hey Zuiop DS, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and question ... sorry for taking so long to get back to you. As far as I know 12% is the highest you can have consistently. You can have it above 12% for a short time but eventually people will start to complain. There are some policies such as recycling that reduce tax income. Good episode! Just a question: you mention a policy that "increases revenue" of industry, thus increasing city tax income. Are there hidden factors that affect tax income? Does the game track the economy of every industry? And of more interest to my curiosity, does land value affect taxes?
    I think that was a long question, sorry, and thanks for your series!

    • @jester.Gaming
      @jester.Gaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Diego, great question! The game does track each industry but to different degrees. The generic industry (level 1-3) and specializations (farm, ore, oil, and forestry) only show the income that they generate - there is no cost associated with having these buildings but their income does fluctuate a little bit depending on if/when they buy and sell their products. As far as I know you are unable to lose money with these zoned industries but you may earn less money. A breakdown of all the different incomes through your zoned industry is found in the economy panel. The industries from the Industries DLC are a little bit different. There is a cost to having these industry types and if your industry isn't efficient or selling enough products you may actually start to lose money. The only other hidden factor that I can think of is related to your last question - land value. Having a higher land value means your zoned buildings will level up. As residential buildings level up they can have more households and therefore more people to generate more tax income. Commercial is similar in that as they level they increase the number of jobs within the building. Industrial zones level up by service coverage rather than land value (which are so closely related that they're nearly the same thing) and also provide more jobs. The zones that have higher levels are more willing to pay higher taxes but I have never had an issue putting them to 12% as soon as I could even with low level buildings. I hope this helps - welcome to the channel! :)
