www.youcanic.c... The Dodge Grand Caravan, produced from 2008 to 2020, is a versatile minivan known for its family-friendly features and affordability. Here's a brief overview of the engine sizes and transmissions used during this period:
    MORE GUIDES ON THIS VAN:

    Engine Sizes:
Throughout this period, the Grand Caravan was primarily equipped with a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine. This engine was introduced in 2011 and became the standard from then onwards, replacing the previous 3.3L, 3.8L, and 4.0L V6 engines that were used in the 2008-2010 models.
    Transmissions:
The 2008-2010 Grand Caravans were equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission (for the 3.3L V6 engine) and a 6-speed automatic transmission (for the 3.8L and 4.0L V6 engines). From 2011 onwards, all Grand Caravans came with a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country
The Dodge Grand Caravan and the Chrysler Town & Country are both minivans that were produced by the Chrysler Corporation. They share many similarities due to their common platform and shared production period. Here are some key similarities:
Platform: Both vehicles were built on the Chrysler RT platform, which was specifically designed for minivans.
Engine and Transmission: Both vehicles were equipped with the same 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission during the same production years (2011-2020 for the Grand Caravan and 2011-2016 for the Town & Country).
Interior Space: Both vehicles offer similar interior space, with seating for up to seven passengers and ample cargo space.
Features: Both vehicles offer similar features, such as Stow 'n Go seating, which allows the second and third-row seats to be folded into the floor for additional cargo space.
Safety Features: Both vehicles have similar safety features, including anti-lock brakes, stability control, and multiple airbags.
However, the Chrysler Town & Country was generally positioned as a more premium offering, with more standard features and options compared to the more budget-oriented Dodge Grand Caravan. The Town & Country was discontinued after the 2016 model year and replaced by the Chrysler Pacifica.
    Common Problems:
The Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country, while popular and versatile vehicles, do have some common issues reported by owners. Here are a few:
Transmission Problems: Some owners have reported issues with the automatic transmission, such as rough shifting or failure to shift. This can often be resolved with a transmission fluid change or, in more severe cases, may require a transmission rebuild or replacement.
Engine Issues: Problems with the engine can range from oil leaks to issues with the engine stalling or misfiring. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine used in later models has been known to have issues with the rocker arms.
Electrical Problems: Both vehicles have been reported to have various electrical issues, including problems with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module), which can cause problems with the vehicle's electrical systems, including the fuel pump, horn, wipers, lights, and more.
Air Conditioning and Heating: Some owners have reported issues with the air conditioning and heating systems, such as the AC not blowing cold air or the heater not working properly.
Brake Problems: Some owners have reported issues with premature brake wear, particularly with the brake pads and rotors.
Power Steering Leaks: There have been reports of power steering fluid leaks, which can lead to a loss of steering assist.
Remember, these are common issues reported by some owners, and not all Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country vehicles will experience these problems. Regular maintenance and prompt attention to any issues that do arise can help keep these vehicles running reliably.

Good demo on caliper pins. Most don’t show this needed repair.

You should mention taking the cap for the fluid refill off to allow for air release when you compress the caliper. Just a thought. Great video and very helpful. Thank you

You didn't mention to remove the fluid cap to push the fluid in the lines and no quick movement because the brake fluid will squirt out of the reservoir

Also, could you just use the old brake pad and a large c clamp to compress the caliper piston, or is there something special with the caravans?

    • @YOUCANIC

You have to "thread" the piston back into the caliper, while applying pressure.

These screw back in with compression. You can't just compress them
