    One problem I see is that the price is pretty much on par with a pretty thin laptop with the same specs.
    The form factor is nice, but I don't really see the situation were it is better than the laptop, except for a designated media box which doesn't need this kind of power.
    And if you need more power, the cheaper nuc canyon is a little bit more, but has a lot more power.
    It's a very niche product, but lenovo probably knows that.

      @@eseseis7251 yes or an a300 with a 3400g. Yes it's a little bigger, but for under 400 bucks you get desktop perfornance and a gpu that is on par with a gt 1030.

      It is aimed at the enterprise sector. Offices use many thin clients and for them, smaller footprint with low power consumption is better. Plus, they are willing to pay these prices, though probably coupled with some quantity discounts.

    The Motile 14 seems like it would be up your alley to review Lon, it can be as low as 199 at walmart for a quad core Zen based APU and FHD IPS screen, looks like a pretty great value

  • @billfusionenterprise
    @billfusionenterprise 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A laptop without the screen. That would be a great idea for those who need power but not always same location. Some of us don't like using laptops but rather have desktops. So this be a neat option. Although the price point may be an issue

  • @AABB-kh9eb
    @AABB-kh9eb 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is basically a ThinkPad without a screen or keyboard. Its actually a great alternative if you're like me and had a ThinkPad that sat permanently on your desk. Unfortunately the price was a little high and I could only configure it with 8GB ram.

  • @physx_yt1062
    @physx_yt1062 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's the same size as my Thunderbolt dock, so the fact that they crammed in an entire computer inside the same form factor is impressive.
    Though given the fact that they had quite a bit more room than in a laptop, I would have expected this thing to at least top the performance charts.

  • @questionablegaming3260

    It seems like a pretty interesting mini pc, but that price tag compared to specs is wayyy high with even the entry level version being 400$ and even the regular 700$ specs are not that impressive for that hefty of a price tag, especially when you could buy a used Intel skull canyon nuc or a new regular Intel nuc for around that price and get better performance. I feel that Lenovo has some good computers, but many times I feel they shoot themselves in the foot with the price compared to performance, and I usually end up just going with another companys laptop. But that's just my opinion please feel to correct me if I'm wrong.

      @CommodoreFan64 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@questionablegaming3260 That's why I go on eBay, and by used/surplus Lenovo gear, as the cost is usually much much lower, and the value then goes way up long as you know what you need/want, and keep you expectations in check.

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm a Lenovo fan myself, but these little thing should not be more then $375 USD at the most for what they are. a single 8GB stick of DDR4 SODIMM memory can be had for less then $30 on eBay, so i'm guessing the whole sale price is around $20 USD if not less, so yeah when you start to price out the components it's way overpriced even when also factoring in development, manufacturing, and marketing cost from Lenovo's end.

    Thanks. I noticed this tiny computer when looking at other Lenovo devices. And then I found this review so I can have a closer look at this device. Not including a HDMI port at the back of the computer seems like big mistake and the DP port should be a DP++ port. Also the RAM issue is silly, on laptops you can upgrade that.

    • @calvinwalker4654
      @calvinwalker4654 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      About the same price as the base Mac Mini and probably about the same performance. Way overpriced for a Windows PC since you can get an Intel NUC for about $500. It'll probably sell because the target market isn't really worried about paying a little extra.

    • @RWDtech
      @RWDtech 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Lenovo products are grossly overpriced, even with a discount I get through my company. I think all they care about are bulk buyers.

    • @calvinwalker4654
      @calvinwalker4654 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed that the mini and this are for two totally different markets. It's like comparing a pickup truck to a sports car. They're not in competition. I think the OP was just commenting that they're priced a bit high for the hardware. A question I would ask is does it come with some type of support? Maybe if it has a problem they fix it right away. To a business getting their system back online is far more important than paying extra for the hardware. This is one big reason Apple can sell hardware at a price higher than many Windows computers.

    • @ruzaroos
      @ruzaroos 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I rarely see things that Lenovo makes sell at Lenovo's list price. Even their own website has the list price with a strike through so you can feel like you are getting a discount. That's a $500-550 PC. It will eventually sell at that price if it doesn't already. I hope 10th gen NUCs support USB-C power. The single cable deployment of these devices with a USB-C monitor like the Dell P2419HC is so nice because of the power delivery from the monitor and the displayport daisy chaining to a second monitor. You end up with identical desktop setups for people with USB-C laptops, desktops, or even Samsung DeX.

    Below a comment suggests this product is getting into Apple pricey. That's so misleading a statement I wanted to make sure my response wasn't buried in a thread. 'Apple territory' doesn't mean anything except an implication it is overpriced. The question is if this spec is 'pricey' compared to similar PCs.
    About 3 years ago I bought a 7th Gen i5, 512 SSD, Intel Graphics VivoMini PC from Asus for... $699. It's twice the size of this Lenovo. This Lenovo (on Amazon) appears to include a 3 year warranty -- which is SquareTrade savings of $119. So if it's $634 on Amazon minus the $119 warranty it's current price is actually $515.
    I'm no fan or defender of Lenovo, mind you. I'm just fascinated by the Mini PC concept. (I'm also into the Micro PCs offered by Beelink.) So I'll ask: where can you get a similarly spec'd PC that isn't a big ugly box for much less? And doesn't Lenovo have the right to mark this up a little considering the insanely small form factor?

    This might work for a musician looking for portable hardware to use with music pdf reader software. I am thinking put two portable 15" monitors on a music stand in portrait mode (extended desktop) and fasten the PC to the music stand support. Not sure if there is a standard mount. I have an Acer Iconia 6120 that luckily keeps working. I am always keeping an eye out for an alternative solution.

    I got a little BeeLink on Amazon for 215, has two m2 slots and a sata and bay for a 2.5 drive. 8 g ram and a 4205 with dual 4k hdmi output. Four usb 3 ports, gigabit enet, and phone jack for my speakers. Comes with windows on the included m2 drive. I took that out and put in a Sata SSD loaded up Linux Mint and it does a great job. Runs at 10 watts wide open. I do not game at all. I like Lenovo but that little box is just way overpriced. Costs 50 bucks more than my AIO 700 24ish. The AIO 700 monitor has HDMI in to use as a standalone so I have two computers with the same monitor keyboard and trackball (on a USB switch)

    Those power buttons suck. (if they're the same as laptops/docking stations) You always have to press them ridiculously hard to turn on. The more you use those buttons, the harder it gets.
    wtf! Remember soft touch on tv remotes in the '80's? Not that it should be that easy!
    usb-c to hdmi, I expect it to be laggy. Now I know what you're thinking "not gaming on it!!!" But it is annoying that when you move an application quickly that there is a delay and/or flickering going on.
    I can't imagine a more mass produced laptop to be that more expensive (even though it should)
    I'd get the laptop, just to be able to see what happens, when you encounter errors.

    I usually like Lenovo stuff, but good grief for this kind of money I can build a Micro ATX AMD gaming machine. If you don't mind something a bit bigger(about double this size) and don't need the horsepower of this thing, there is a seller on eBay selling used Lenovo Thinkcentre M53 dual core Celeron machines with 4GB of DDR3L RAM, and a 500GB 2.5in HDD that's perfect for a low end Manjaro Linux W/ Budgie DE build, or Chromium OS build, and I payed just under $48 USD I then replaced the HDD with a 120GB ADATA SSD which cost me $17, and an 8GB stick of VEINEDA DDR3L that cost me $23, and again was perfect for a basic Chromium build using Neverware's Cloudready OS Home Edition, and my elder aunt could not be more happy.
