I like and agree with his review. My 22 Limited has 26,000 miles and has been perfect with no issues. I love the vehicle and always have fun driving.

I have the SEL '23 and with just +7k, we still love it. there are a couple of minor things: not too long ago a rattling noise started coming from like the arm rest on the passenger side and another one from the back that I haven't been able to dedicate time to tackle them. I also got the hitch kit, dealer installed and I notice the range drops almost 50% when I plug in the trailer. that's quite a bit of change. However, after I disconnect it, the range goes back up, so it's interesting that it kind of assumes it'll use much more energy, even when the trailer is empty; BTW, the trailer is an utility 7"x5'. Something cool about it is it will tell you if one of the lights are not working.
As far as the app, I'm not too picky but I experience the same response lag, it doesn't bother me as I don't have anything to compare it against. The battery regen feature is a little tricky to use, but thanks to your video, I got it working.
Overall, this is a well built car, and can't wait for more EV-miles to come.
@ebujan hopefully they can help fix the rattles, typically it's a super quiet car so those rattles can be quite irritating haha.
Interesting about the predicated range drop, im guessing in real driving you are getting more than estimated range then?

@@CarsJubileeI usually drive in town, between 3-4kwh/mi. On highway 2.5-3. it has also helped me drive at the speed limit which keeps me from getting speed tickets 😂.

70,000 Miles 2022 Ioniq 5 only bought tires at 48,000. It's been 100 % reliable. Best car ever. Silent driving Adaptive Driving is superb. Wonderful Car. Have a Home Charging charges easy overnight. I have one at my sisters too. So I don't use the Public Chargers much anymore (They don't do the 200 very often just 35 or 50). It's been so wonderful to me. Like your content. Please keep it up. I used all my free services and they told me there isn't much to do it. So I haven't been back. I'll be getting a new one around 100,000 or perhaps, I'll just keep this... because it's perfect.
Thanks! Wow that's excellent tread wear to have gotten 48000 miles. With our cars being so heavy I would have thought maybe 30-35k miles would be it so very good to know.

How’s the range on yours? People keep scaring me that the range is ass and not actually what it says it is and I’ve put a $500 deposit and the car is coming in January
@shyanhayder7565 it depends heavily on driving habits.
If you expect to drive 80-85mph as often as possible, then your real range is probably closer to 200 miles on a full charge, could be less or more depending on weather/temperature.
If you are willing to change your driving habits, drive closer to speed limits, you'll either beat or at least match the EPA estimates.
Ioniq 5 is also a much better city driver vs highway. I consistently saw 330-340 miles of city driving on a full charge in warm weather. On the highway even sticking to speed limits, best I could do was around 300 miles on a full charge.
For the average driver, I'd probably expect below EPA estimates.
200 miles on cold weather or warm? Also is this on eco mode or normal or sport?
@@shyanhayder7565 It all depends on driving habits of the driver. If you want to drive like people, you'll get 250 miles if you are lucky. If you drive in town and do the posted 35, 45 etc, you can get as much as 360 miles. If you drive the expressway and stick to 55 you'll get 300-350 miles.
thanks for the information. I have the 22 SE model; about 26,000 miles; I had no issues so far. I have enjoyed using the EA charging stations due to the free two years program.

Hey Victor, great basis for a review! I have 6,000 miles on my 2023 AWD I5 Ltd. My app experience has been much better than yours though I don't use it a lot. Other than a trunk rattle (for which their is a TSB fix) my car has been flawless. Over the last 5,000 miles I have averaged 3.4 MKH which includes almost zero city driving. Another sweet feature (in the Ltd.) is the option to have the driver's seat automatically move back when the door is opened and then return when the door is closed. Really makes ingress/egress easy!
Thanks! Very happy to hear that your experience has been much better than mine. Still a huge Hyundai/Ioniq fan and want them to succeed, I think they've built a really good ev platform. They just need to somehow get dealerships here up to a certain standard. Easier said than done when they really don't have any oversight over them.

Have you ever experienced zombie state? When you start your ioniq but it is not ready to drive and does not connect to large battery.
Since one or two updates ago the animation in your cluster indicates when your brake lights are on or off. Also any car using brakes to slow down while on cruise control, the brake lights turn on. That was true for my 2008 and 2012 BMW as well.
I bought my ioniq5 in March 2021, it has about 60000 km / 40000 miles and I am EXTREMELY satisfied. Build quality is amazing. I have the Belgian "balance" trim, fully equiped except roof window. One single mini problem of sensor recalibration in almost 3 years. Service in Belgium is good, no problem. About efficiency it's what I expected with an average of 20 kWh/100 km. And a max range of 350km in winter, 450km in summer for the 73kWh battery. The best of the car : charging in less than 30min from 15% to 90% during summer. Given my very good experience, the next will most probably be Hyundai/Kia again.

I have 11K on a 2023 Limited, I agree with your assessment. Service sucks with long waits (up to 8 weeks) on 2 dealers near me where I know more than they do. My issues are the trunk rattle (there is a shim fix now but of course they didn't do it in the first visit and the parts were on backorder and not on hand), door trim peeling, AC charger now always overheats and reduces down to 7.35KWH (worked fine for 6 months and now the dealer says its operating as expected which is BS). Sound system in the limited is pretty lame. I agree that the dealers do nothing and return the car then don't follow-up on next steps. The service lacks, and if they fix these small issues, it is an awesome car!
Glad the servicing hasn't soured your experience, it really is still a fantastic EV.
Which out for that shim fix for the trunk, they did it to mine and now the latch POPS every time I open the trunk. If it's in the garage it sounds like a gun shot going off. I don't think this is a suitable long term fix.
Ah sorry to hear about the charging issues, mine has surprisingly not had any level 2 charging issues but I rarely charge at 40amps. I usually turn it down to 24 or 32amps anyways but if you need faster charging that's a real pain. Hopefully they figure out a long term solution.

Something about the blue link app... I use it with my 2022 sonata. At first I was super disappointed in it for the same reasons you mention. I did find a work around- for mine I have to 'wake' the car up (unlock or lock) and make sure the status is updated to within a few minutes. Then any if thr climate start features work every time. It's a hassle but better than getting failed messages
for the app, you can try,
in settings > permission > the app,
allow bluetooth access in the background,
or allow bluetooth access all the time.
usually, the permission is default to allow bluetooth access, only during app use in the foreground.
During setup it wouldn't work for me unless I had it set to always allow, but I could see how that would be an issue if not set right.
The biggest hurdle for me with digital key and BlueLink was the fact that the apps would 'restart' if I hadn't opened it within the last minute or two. Typically I only open it when I need it and so it always takes me through the login process that often would take 30 seconds. And then I'd have to wait another 30 seconds for it to establish a connection with the car etc.
Is yours more stable/faster by chance?

i had trouble with another car app.
my solution was allow bluetooth and location permission to run all the time for that specific app.
it seems like, the bluetooth connection would be made as soon as within range.
And once i unlock my phone, i can access vehicle unlock/lock immediately.
Before, i had to wait 30 seconds for the bluetooth to connect.
Sometimes, even after the bluetooth is connected,
i had to restart the app because the app still thinks bluetooth is disconnected.
i did not know if the permission would solve your problem, but it did solve mine.
sometimes, it might not be the fault of the car app,
but the fault could be your device,
like battery saving mode or something else that hinders the functionality.
i don't know, just a thought.
i hope to see more long term review.

The problem to me seems to be the app. I've had pixel 6 pro, 7 pro and 8 pro app connected to the ioniq 5 and gv60 and same issues throughout.
Not enough content creators talking about the apps for ioniq 5 gv60 ev6. Feels like a generation behind, requires a login during each use and entering a pin for certain commands. In general just expect to be waiting for it a lot. It's still usable and better than nothing but there's no way I would 'leave the key at home' and use my phone as key daily haha.
If not for that and some minor things, Hyundai makes really good EVs and I would still consider one.

Ioniq5 doesnt have walkaway locking doors. And i was getting annoyed by false reports of door unlocked and wasnt sure if i manually locked or not. Ridiculous. Happier with Tesla Model Y
Ya this never made sense to me, they need to fix that. Auto lock is super convenient. And those unlock alerts from Blue Link are a joke. Hence all my bashing of the bluelink app haha
I love the design of Ionic 5. I have Tesla model 3 but if have money I want that car as my second car
It's a great EV, I've had my issues with it but that wouldn't stop me from recommending it. Especially to someone who has ev experience.
Very nice points, mine is still only couple months old with 5k kms on it but had no issues yet except for one trip wipers on AUTO mode suddenly stopped working completely but it was fine next day (or maybe it was just lazy but I tried to wait 20 seconds with quite heavy rain and they didn't activate). Can I ask what phone mount in cup holder you have there in 6:35?

It's actually a suction cup mount, you can attach to the plastic panel below HVAC controls. I've used these 2.

I see, thanks, it looked like cup holder mount, it didn't hit me that option like that would exist but I found some, will probably try one of "yours" and cup holder to see which ones is better for me (and I hope rumours about wireless CarPlay update will become true) :)
Videos were great, especially the one about regen levels and i-Pedal (in AWD). And all your positive reviews and points with also some negative but minor ones made me feel much better for my decision to go for it :)
I had couple issues with auto wipers when raining like not triggering fast enough (so I had to trigger them manually) or going quite fast even with light rain but overall it was okay but here it basically stopped working after 200km and didn't work until next day, I tried to clean the sensor/windshields, turn car off and on. Next day I was spraying some water to the sensor and it triggered every time I did.

@boobiq you're welcome, ah ya I didn't want to lose a cup holder spot to my phone and this surprisingly worked. The suction mount does come off when temperature changes drastically but just remount and good to go for many months.
Haha wireless AA and car play would be fantastic, my wired connection disconnects frequently. Might be a faulty USB port, another common issue.
It's a fantastic EV, really enjoyed mine even with the small issues here and there.
I ended up just not using auto wipers anymore haha
Same issue with the Auto mode for the wipers. On level 2 it sometimes gets to the point where I hardly see anything.
And the car starts complaining after about 25 % use of the wiper water that I need to refill.

280 miles is a fantasy to me on the Limited AWD. Real world was closer 260 miles at 65mph and 220 traveling closer to 75mph. Car and Driver's 210 miles at 75mph is much closer to reality.
I never saw more than 265 miles at 100% SoC in my time of owning the Limited AWD in warm Florida. I drove 80% of the time at 65-70mph in Florida.
Ya I had to drive 60mph to reach 280-290, not an ideal way to drive on the highway. We did it several times for road trips but I wouldn't recommend it.
Ioniq 5 is mediocre at best at highway speeds. I can get 320-330 miles going 70mph in the model y.

@@julessherman4801Which means you drive around 45-55mph. Ioniq 5 is a fantastic in-town car but the range is extremely poor on the highway. I would drive 80-85mph with my BMW i4 and get over 300 miles. Battery was only a hair bigger than the Ioniq 5.
Ya same deal with model y, I can get 320 miles at 70mph with similar size battery.
My 2022 Ioniq 5 with 28,000 miles had to be towed 29 miles to the nearest certified Hyundai Service Center due to a recall. The 12v battery was not being charged by the large EV battery. Towed there last Tuesday afternoon and replacement part installed and 2 software updates done by Friday morning. No charge.

I have 75000 miles 2022 ioniq5 and my 12 v batter kept dieing and dealer kept saying 12 v batter testing fine?? so i bought a new 12 v battery at oreilly for 300 and its working great again. no other issues ever. fast charged 370 times over 2 years and now for free and now i charge at home over night and it charges while i sleep (free charging for 2 yrs ended) . i have it set to charge at 11 pm when plugged in with charge point charger .
Hey great vids ! Was wondering after 18 months how the matte paint was holding up ? Knowing that you used automatic car wash. I’m about to get the Santa Fe in white matte finish but we do have harsh winters in Canada + I don’t have time to hand wash twice a month
My matte paint looked great up to the day I returned it to Hyundai haha.
No issues going through automatic car wash, just make sure you do the soap only option with no wax.
I think matte white will be even easier to maintain. My dark grey/silver still had a metallic shimmer, one of the door handle areas had some light wear that shimmered a little differently. I don't think you'll have that problem with the matte white.

You should be good then, that ceramic coating will definitely help.
Can you say anything about battery degradation on the I5? Ive heard of some teslas losing as much as 50 kms of range in 18 months. Did you notice any loss of range from new to this video creation?

What would you suggest to buy between the Model Y and Ioniq 5. I figured you are in the same area of PA and deal with the weather, commute and relatively same charging network. I found an Ioniq 5 for sale in NJ for $30K with only 2000 miles on it, but I am afraid of dealing with the network and Hyundai's mechanical assistance, but it seems like a good deal. On the other hand, I could get a Tesla for maybe $32K with a better network and software, but it would have higher miles on it ranging from 20k miles to 40k miles, so I would lose time on the warranty.
Both are good choices, especially at that price range.
The Tesla has much more range in my driving. Rain or shine, hot or cold, highway or local etc I've been able to get 300 miles on a full charge all day everyday. On the highway in warm weather at 70mph I can easily get 330 miles of range but mine is brand new so very little battery degradation. My ioniq 5's only chance close to 300 highway miles was doing 55mph in warm weather. Otherwise it can do over 300 but only on local roads or city style driving.
If software and app matter to you, Tesla is the way to go. In many ways the ioniq 5 feels like a good car that just happens to be electric. Nothing wrong with that but it's not doing anything special in the software department, you'll feel like you are in a regular ICE Hyundai with the most recent dual screen setup. Tesla continues to push updates that make the software feel new and fresh. An older Tesla is going to feel more up to date than a brand new Ioniq 5 in the software area.

How did the matte paint look at the end? Any water spots, wear, or shiny spots?
The paint actually looked great, no water spots. One small area that had some wear, looked a little scuffed up but not very noticeable with the matte paint. My favorite paint color I've ever owned in terms of looks. Was not that difficult to maintain though you can't buff out small scratches.

Thanks! We were waiting for Hyundai to buyback our Ioniq 5 due to manufacturing defects. That process has taken about 6 months.
We replaced it with a 7 seater model y which is slightly bigger. But we did have 3 EVs for several months overlap while waiting for Hyundai to finalize the paperwork and return our money.
So it was cool getting to choose which EV to drive daily while we had all 3 when there's only my wife and I driving haha.
How cold is "cold weather" for you? I'm considering an Ioniq 5 and I'm based in Wisconsin. Winter range is pretty important to me as the charging networks here leave a bit to be desired (especially when driving through big stretches of rural highways without any DCFC), and there's a big difference between 220 miles of range at 50°F vs. at temps below 0°F 🙂
I'm over in the northeast in Philly. Winters are around freezing temps 32F and wind is usually 10-20mph.
I think 200 miles of highway driving is doable in those conditions but you'll have to drive around 55-60mph. If you plan to drive 70mph, I'd expect well under 200 miles of range in the dead of winter out there.
Definitely a gamble if you have to do long drives with little to no DCFC options. Even if there is one station, reliability and availability are huge question marks. I love EVs but hybrids make a lot more sense for many people.
@@CarsJubilee Thanks for the reply! The longest stretch I have to go without decent charging is about 170 miles, but it's 55mph most of the way so the range hit thankfully shouldn't be as severe as if I were on the interstate going 70+.
Coincidentally, a Tesla Supercharger opened earlier this year about 2/3 of the way through that route, so it'll be nice to know there's a reliable DCFC once Hyundai vehicles get access in the next couple years.
@AaronMertzenich ahh 170 miles is definitely doable, especially if you have a garage which let's the batteries start at a much warmer temp in the winter.
Otherwise you can also preheat the car while plugged in.
If you keep it near 55mph I'm confident you could make it or figure out some strategies to make it.
Ah yes we should eventually see that open up. Will be a huge relief to non Teslas.

@@AaronMertzenichI live in the Northwoods, have clocked 60k almost exclusively on l2 ac charging, there is an electrify America in Rothschild now and a new 120kw zef in Prentice, about 4 more 50kw units too, I would say you can actually visit this neck of the woods safely now, be aware most of them are single stall however, I never have wait times but I would be wary if traveling on a really busy travel day
I was planning to recommend the car to my parents so that they could have a nicer and newer car that's cost efficient both in "fuel" and maintenance. However, my parents did not like the Ioniq 5 ever since they heard these bad experiences that's also similar to what have happened on Ioniq 5 owners in my country. They also didn't like the ride quality either, they said the ride quality wasn't as good as our old car (a Lexus RX 2nd gen). So, we then decided to get a Nissan Leaf instead, a 40kWh version because we have had good experiences with Nissan dealership aftersales in our country. Price-wise, its nearly as expensive as the standard range base model Ioniq 5 for a 40kWh Leaf car but we loved it! Less features means less things to break I guess and transitioning from an ICE car to this is quite easy and less of a hassle it turns out, and it rides better(?) maybe its because of the run flats the Ioniq feels a bit stiff.
Don't get me wrong, I still like the Ioniq 5 for what it is; an all-rounder car that can be used around town and on long trips, with great mileage and cheap to run too! So unless we see an improvement on Hyundai itself and their product, we're quite happy with what we have now.
Wow that's a very interesting choice going with the leaf but in terms of reliability I think you guys picked the better car. Leaf has less that will go wrong and has been around for a long time.
Ioniq 5 doesn't have run flats at least not in the US market. I'm a little surprised that the ride was an issue on the ioniq 5 but it does get crashy on big bumps, something that you would never feel on a Lexus.

What car has the best seats for your back issues? I know someone having issues too searching for fitting car.
My gv60 performance has the perfect seats for me to date. It has a special air bladder in the base cushion that lets you firm up or soften it. The GV70 electrified also has the same feature as well as some other Genesis vehicles. Before that, I had a lot of success with seats in my Volvo XC60 and XC90.
All other cars I've ever driven result in back pain after about 2 hours for me.
How come do you have to service the car if it’s electric, other than adding windshield fluid?
Very little routine maintenance involved which is the perks of an EV. But like any car, things don't always work right from factory. It's all under warranty though.
I have heard issues of Apple car wireless not supported or Android auto or many having issues with cables? Also that map is slow compared to Tesla
Ya no support for wireless car play android auto and the wired connection has a faulty USB port that fails often.
Native maps are junk, Tesla mapping is much much better haha.
I have this exact car. Only complaint is the squeak from rear lid, but otherwise the car is awesome.
Maybe I missed it but how did the Ioniq 5 seat compare to the Model Y?
I actually don't think I covered that one yet, great question!
I find it slightly more comfortable in the Y, seat base foam feels thicker/more dense so my back lasts a bit longer.
The only complaint I have is that there's no ventilated seat in the Y but I have an aftermarket one that's worked pretty well so that kind of takes care of that complaint.
If just comparing seat comfort, my vote goes to the Y.
I saw your previous video about how you have problems with your ioniq 5, I also had the same problem with the tail gate. It made rattle noise just like yours, then I took my car to the Hyundai dealer (Indonesia), they fixed it! They replaced slightly thicker rubber pads which located on the sides of the tail gate. Hope you can resolve yours too. Have a good day!

They did try to fix it, rattle is gone but now the trunk hatch is super loud when opening, makes a loud popping sound.
@@CarsJubilee // Glad to hear that. With the loud popping noise, I think you need to adjust the circle rubber pads that make contact with the bumper (next to the plate number). Turn clockwise to make the rubber pads go deeper inside the tailgate. Before I went to the Hyundai dealer, I tried to adjust those rubber pads then popping noise happened but did not resolve the rattle.
How do I get digital key app on ios in europe?
I've heard it's not available in some markets. You may have to check the website for your specific country.

The car is great but the issue that kills me is the level 2 slow charging issue...Hiunday has not been able to fix it and they say is normal wich is BS...it takes me 12 hrs to charge my car instead of 7hrs...frustrating
Ya that's definitely frustrating when you need it to charge faster at home. Doesn't seem like they will be coming up with a true fix, from what I've read the undersized the wiring or some components and they are unlikely to replace that for every egmp ev out there.

And yes I had to relearn 'parallel parking' with the ioniq 5. The ioniq 5 doesn't turn back as sharply into the spot like most cars, probably took a month to retrain my brain to turn back much earlier.
Then in tight parking lots and even some narrow streets, what should have been a 3 point turn became a 5 point turn. Feels like a giant boat in those situations, but I think the trade off is worth it for the huge interior space.
I'm not in the US, and my Bluelink app works pretty seamlessly. I suppose user experience may vary with region

Haven't had the privilege to try the Tesla app yet, but the Bluelink response time here in Singapore is within a couple of seconds 👍🏼

Does your app log you back in every time you open the app? Does it require a pin to remote climate start?
Oh it doesn't require me to log back in. For turning on the AC, I have to either use a pin or biometric ID (I use the latter which is quite fast).

Yes you are correct! We actually never announced exactly when it was sold since the buyback process with Hyundai was taking a long time. We did mention that we were buying a model y to replace it though haha.

I’ve had the 2023 Ioniq 5 limited trim for 14 months. I’m pretty satisfied with the vehicle. I’ve taken this vehicle from Baltimore to New York 3 times. My first trip was 309 mile range which was done on early spring. My second trip got 362 mile range which was unheard of. My recent trip to New York was during thanksgiving week. My range dropped to 289 miles. This is due to the cold weather. This time I had to wait at the EA charging station in Elizabeth, New Jersey. There were 4 cars in front me waiting to get charged. The Tesla charging stations adjacent had about 12 chargers and only 2 cars were charging. The Tesla infrastructure is far better than Electrify America, EV-go, Charge point . If you own a Tesla, no waiting. Upon my return trip to Baltimore , I had to wait to charge up at Elizabeth New Jersey. This time 5 cars in front of me. Luckily I only waited 20 minutes. If you have a Tesla, no wait time.

Ya the charging is killer, I'm in Philly and find the east coast CCS charging network to be unreliable and insufficient. Tesla really got the charging infrastructure down right, they've been ahead of it for so long.
@@CarsJubilee my limited is an AWD. The 362 range was back during the summer. That was my second trip from Baltimore to New York.

I saw 372 as my highest estimated range during the summer but that was all city commuting. Once I'm out on the open highways even going 60mph I think my highest actual driven miles would be around 300 miles.
@@CarsJubilee as I recalled on that summer trip to NYC, the avg kWh was over 4.0. I had over 100 miles of range remaining when I went to recharge at an EA charging station in Elizabeth,New Jersey . I was driving on ECO mode with level 1 regen.
Why two apps?
You'll have to ask Hyundai/Blue Link why they had to separate bluetooth and cellular/wifi into separate apps. I think it's very cumbersome, not ideal to have to fumble between 2 apps, especially when both are quite slow to respond.
IMO the HDA is just okay
It's very good with adaptive cruise distance keeping at all speeds and smoothness in stop and go. It's lane steering leaves much to be desired.
What other system have you tried? My only comparisons are Volvo propilot/Tesla's autopilot.
HDA2 in Limited is great
I leased a 2020 KIA Niro, flawless, so I leased another KIA (too new to comment). I agree - The App sucks and sometimes it won't login making even the limited features useless. I've seen the Tesla app, no comparison. Tesla's is 100 times better. That said I think many people would like the Hyundai/Kia lineup better because of having to use Tesla's touch screen for everything.
Ya I just don't get why Hyundai bluelink app is so bad. I love the Tesla app, so much better in every way.

The paddles are a waste imho. With tesla you dont need paddles. You just need to learn how to accelerate a tesla. Never going back to paddles.
Ahh I love the paddles, lets me coast and not have to keep my foot on the pedal constantly.
I do like the simplicity of one pedal driving but the heavy pedal is tiring for me daily.

Aw man sorry about that! When I edit on canva it comes out smooth but I've had this choppiness issue come up recently on the longer videos. Not sure why, it's smooth in editing but final version comes out choppy as if I didn't cut or blend scenes correctly.

what an ugly looking car, and the worst thing is it gets uglier the more I see it on the street. It's trying to have bold, unique "design language" but the result is just a superficial product.
Design is very subjective, understandably not everyone's cup of tea. I'm happy to see carmakers take risks and push the norm of what a car should look like. Otherwise we're all driving bland boxes with wheels haha.
What you would consider a good EV/ICE design?
Easily one of the best looking cars on the road imo. I find Teslas's one of the most bland looking cars with the Generic SUV cars that all look exactly the same a close second.
