Touch the small square indentation on either front door handles to lock the car if your key fob is in your possession. No need to take it or your smartphone out of your pocket to lock the car. It's how I lock the car when parking in public places. Works every time.
This is how I always lock my car. I wish I could lock it with the lock button inside the car (like I do with basically every other car with power locks that I’ve ever owned) but the proximity button on the handle is the next best thing I guess
Great stuff. Another feature: most of the hard buttons below the touch screen function as toggles. If you are on the screen showing realtime energy use and press the Warmer button to turn adjust heated seats, steering wheel, etc., you can just tap the Warmer button again to return to the realtime energy. Saves digging through menus.
Great video Carlos, thanks. In the opening seconds you are shown plugging in your charger to a rather long extension cord (and a lighter gauge one at that). Best practice is to avoid extension cords entirely, and use the shortest and heaviest gauge extension cords (12ga/20A, 25ft max length, shorter is better) when a cord is needed. There are times when the voltage drop introduced by a lightweight long extension cord will cause the charging system's protective circuity to shut off charging (a nasty surprise to find the next morning when you're already late to work). There's also increased overheating/fire risk.
Hey! Thanks for the tip! You and a few others said the same thing so I am no longer using an extension cord. I dont want to risk fire or ruining my car/house. Thanks again! I appreciate it!
Thanks Carlos. Great tips. I’ve owned an Ionig 5 for only 6 weeks, and there is so much to learn about driving an EV. Every tip helps. Still anxious about my first 1,500 mile trip from Ontario Canada to Florida.

To prevent the 12v battery to go dead while having the back door open, put the car in "Utility mode" because that’s when the main battery will be used to power any plugged-in devices, built-in lamps like the roof lights and back door light and not draw from the 12v battery. In Utility Mode the 12v battery til also be charged and kept on trickle charge for the duration.
You can also pre-condition in winter if you want more efficiency. Say you don't care about the energy loss heating the battery because you are charging at home, but you don't want to lose your range due to low efficiency.
One trick to do it is navigate to a nearby fast charger. Shut down the car go home. Remote start the car, it will continue the navigation and start conditioning. You might need to do this 2-3 times if it's too cold because remote start only works for 10 minutes
I just got the 2024, IM sooooOOOO glad i watch this video. i was wondering why my range differ from the first day i got it. Manual Info doesnt explain that it base the range from how far youve driven it lol. since i Pick up the car on a out of state dealership for a nice deal.

@@ExploreWithCarlos Thanks man. I decided to go with VinFast to wait for the new models of EV in the market. Their lease was a killer I hope in 3 years significant improvements will be made in this world.
Ok, I didn't know about the 20% on the preconditioning, nor that it only is for the L3 fast charging. Also, the filter on navigation. Nice. Thanks. I do find that using the onboard navigation for chargers is less effective in Canada. It will send you places that actually doesn't have chargers.
Haha well to be honest I had chatgpt help to me make this as simple as possible. "Pre-conditioning the battery means the car is warming it up so it works better. It helps the battery charge faster and use energy more efficiently, especially when it's freezing outside. Pre-conditioning should be done when it’s really cold, or right before you charge the car in cold weather. That way, the battery stays in good shape and charges faster!" So basically you only need to worry about it when it's cold outside. I also like to think about it like doing warm ups before the big game. You want to make sure your body is ready before straining it. I hope this helps!
Thanks for this. I am a brand new owner and slogging through the quick guides and the manual for the basis for my Ioniq5 Limited. I just bought it 4 days ago. Its my first EV and feeling a bit overwhelmed (I am a senior citizen, so the learning curve for me is steep. Thanks for the explanation of that orange light in the front! I had no idea what that was! I love the car so far - but when I got the car home I noticed that the inside rear hatch was pretty dirty and oily looking. Any tips on how to clean that inside back hatch? I tried it with regular glass cleaner and a microfiber towel, but a lot of the grime is still there. Also - what does "preconditioning" the EV mean?
Hey, thanks for watching and im glad youre enjoying your car! Pre-conditioning the battery means the car is warming it up so it works better. It helps the battery charge faster and use energy more efficiently, especially when it's freezing outside. Pre-conditioning should be done when it’s really cold, or right before you charge the car in cold weather. That way, the battery stays in good shape and charges faster! Basically only worry about pre conditioning when it's cold outside. As far as the glass cleaner, im not sure of any alternatives, sorry.
I’m totally lost on the preconditioning thing. I have a 2024 SEL and have yet to take it to a charging station yet other than at the dealership once. Just purchased two weeks ago and only driving locally.
What exactly are you lost on? Maybe I could help. Basically you only have to worry about pre-conditioning if it's super cold and youre going to use a super charger like Eletricfy America. If youre going to charge normal Level 1 or 2 then you dont need to pre condition. In order to activate pre conditioning you have to select a fast charger in the navigation and make sure it's above 20%. Hopefully this clears up some things.

Do you have the standard range or the long range model: Are you aware of the latest ICCU - recall which got issued last week ? (for 2022 through 2024 models) ?
Hey! Thanks for watching. I have the long range. Yes I’ve done the latest campaign or “recall” it’s just like the others. They check if the car has a bad part and if not then they just update the software. They didn’t replace anything in my car. I’ve never had any issues with the ICCU.
@@ExploreWithCarlos Interesting, it appears based on what I've read and other say, they think the Level 2 charging with overheating is at least 15% of the all models in 2022 and 2023: Just out of curiosity, how close to original specs would you say your gettinng on Level 2 charging with a 240 Volt plug (if you have one?) assuming you have enough power coming through it, your IONIQ 5 is capable of going from 10% empty to 80% full in apx 7 hours, according to the specs, but is that close to what you get weather permitting ? (it look's like you charge ''outdoors'' ie no garage, I don't have a garage either, and I'll be charging outdoors as low as 45 degrees outdoors from December to February)

I have a new 2023 Ionic 5 and I was trying to play audio books I've recorded on my old ipod by plugging into the USB port in the front consul. The USB music is ghosted out on my display and won't recognize my ipod. I've tried iphones and USB sticks with music and it's still ghosted out. The dealer suggested I get a phono plug to USB adapter and run from my phono plug on my ipod but that didn't work either. I have a 2024 Santa Fe and it works fine as well as in Toyotas and Nissans. Any advice?
Unfortunately I dont really have any advice on that. Maybe you could get a bluetooth adapter for your iPod and connect it via bluetooth on the car or just buy other cables and test them out. Sorry im not much help.
Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto is only on newer cars that is using the CNCC software. So only the ioniq 5 2025 and the ioniq 5 N are getting wireless features
It could be because Tesla chargers are not supported at the moment. We have been waiting for a map/ui update. As of now it’s delayed until some time in September but I wouldn’t be surprised if they delay again until October. Once our cars are supported then I’m sure it’ll be on the map.
@@BioniqBob it's still not confirmed exactly when, but based on the sister car (the Kia EV6, which was built on the same platform as the Ioniq 5) Tesla Supercharger access should open up early 2025. (You will need to buy an adapter if Hyundai does not give them out for free.)
But seriously question, can I install memory for seats and mirrors without a button for it? My husband and I have an ioniq 5 se, and there is no memory button.
It must be noted that not all Ioniq 5’s have battery pre-conditioning. Long-range rearwheel drive Ioniq 5’s do not have this feature. This is a critical thing and is the one thing I hate about my Ioniq 5. Not having this feature means that cold weather charging is an absolute chore to do at a Level 3 DC Fast Charger. Driving the car for a while before trying to use a DCFC does not help either.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Basically pre conditioning is getting the battery warmed up to a certain temperature where it can accept a fast charge from the fast chargers. Thats the easiest way I can explain it and hopefully that helps.

My tip would be based on my last year experiences with this car: DO NOT! Buy it. Low quality car and many many issues which could not be resolved like charging at home or loose seats….just terrible!
Here’s a tip… sell that piece of crap before the $60,000 battery dies. The high voltage battery in my 2017 Sonata PHEV died under warranty when the car was only four years old with 42,000 miles. Hyundai refused to repair or replace the battery under warranty. I had to go through non lemon law arbitration to have the vehicle repurchased, which I won easily. However, Hyundai then decided to miscalculate the repurchase amount and attempted to underpay me by $2000.00. This forced me to go through arbitration a second time, which I won (again). The whole process took 18 months…No loaner. If you own a Hyundai…Sell that piece of crap while you can…

WOW CARLOS, SUPER ADVICE, I WANT AN IONIC 5, SUPER GREAT LOOKING, FUTURE TODAY. FANTASTIC ADVICE, YOU KNOW YOUR STUFF. 😁😁😁😁
THANK YOU!!!
Shhhhh
Any update on Wireless Android Car Play?
Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto is only on newer cars that is using the CNCC software. So only the ioniq 5 2025 and the ioniq 5 N are getting wireless features
@ExploreWithCarlos do you recommend any adapters that can make it wireless?
Think you need a new windscreen
Finally got it replaced haha.
Hi . Can you tell me why the nav system doesn t show tesla chargers on map? Is there a way to add it to the system?
It could be because Tesla chargers are not supported at the moment. We have been waiting for a map/ui update. As of now it’s delayed until some time in September but I wouldn’t be surprised if they delay again until October. Once our cars are supported then I’m sure it’ll be on the map.
And now?
@@BioniqBob it's still not confirmed exactly when, but based on the sister car (the Kia EV6, which was built on the same platform as the Ioniq 5) Tesla Supercharger access should open up early 2025. (You will need to buy an adapter if Hyundai does not give them out for free.)
Do you know if the update is included in the future ioniq 5(Facelift/Product enhancement) ?
The facelift will have a different software called CNCC and will be 10000 times better and include real over the air updates.
Short summary: don’t panic
But seriously question, can I install memory for seats and mirrors without a button for it? My husband and I have an ioniq 5 se, and there is no memory button.
Not that I know of :(
Exactly lol
no auto-lock is insane
Facts
Word to the wise… lease it these cars are like phones the next one will have all the updates
I prefer buying used so I can drive it as much as I want and have scars on it haha.
Dude! Get that windshield fixed
Lmao I’m working on it.
Here's a topic: how to upgrade you headlights
@.@ I didnt even think that was an option. Might need to do some research on that.
Feature added on the long range SE in 2023, I have used in winter and summer.
I have a 2022 RWD long-range SEL @@AZDAN_HI5
Thanks for clarifying about which Ioniq 5's have pre conditioning.
2025
The 2025 mode/refresh will look different software wise so this might not be 1 to 1 great advice for those models
So what the hell is pre conditioning? What the hell is a filter? You talk like we're all electric car owners.
What the hell is Google
Conditioning done before.
A filter, stops grit from getting into your coffee.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Basically pre conditioning is getting the battery warmed up to a certain temperature where it can accept a fast charge from the fast chargers. Thats the easiest way I can explain it and hopefully that helps.
My absolute favourite feature of Ioniq5 is the $60k battery replacement fee. Better hope you don't drive over a rock in this thing.
Link to this claim?
@@mowcowbellGoogle it. I'm, not your personal researcher
Misinformation.
Battery will be much cheaper after 10 years
Ive driven through like 10 rocks and still going strong.
I have some really important information for all Hyundai/Kai owners. Do not keep your car past warranty.
Why is that?
@@johnwicks8055 Because watching the Car Wizard he got a couple of them in and said the same thing. He is the expert so I believe and respect his advice and knowledge.
EV batteries, if properly maintained, are good well beyond warranty
About to go passed my warranty and were still trucking through!
Tip 0.: Sell it... Oops, the Internet will hate me now
No hate here. Everyone has preferences.
Tip number one... RUN back to the dealer and ask if they will take it back. To think the battery will cost you more than the car brand new.
Ah, another "the sky is falling" type. The chances of ever having to replace the battery is slim. Much like the chances of rolling your ICE car and having to replace the entire thing. Live in fear if you like. I won't.
Untrue, I'm sure you believe it but it's misinformation.
Shrug
Tip # 16 DRIVE A TELSA
Teslas are cool! EV's in general are amazing and im glad we all have options for our preferences.
My tip would be based on my last year experiences with this car: DO NOT! Buy it. Low quality car and many many issues which could not be resolved like charging at home or loose seats….just terrible!
Sorry that you had so many issues. Ive had 0 issues and I would say its "solid as a rock" imo
If you own a Hyundai…Sell that piece of crap while you can…
My bet is you are the same guy posting all these dumb get rid of it "tips" using different names. You haters are sad people.
Sorry you had an awful experience
Tip number one, set aside $50,000 for when Hyundai decides to force a battery replacement when a pebble scratches your underside.
Ah, yet another "the sky is falling" type. The chances of ever having to replace the battery is slim. Much like the chances of rolling your ICE car and having to replace the entire thing. Live in fear if you like. I won't.
Wait, which is it $50K or $60K? A brand new Ioniq5 SEL is now $39K.
Total misinformation.
Just a heads up, I have been brutal with this car and have run over many things and hit some really bad pot holes...that said this thing is a beast. Never had any issues. Dont believe everything you read online.
That's why tesla better
Software wise, Tesla is so ahead and no one will come close. Everything else is fair game. All EV's feel different and look different so it just comes to preference. I love my Ioniq 5!
Tip 1: Get a gas hybrid, step 2: .....no, that's it.
What a moronic comment. Gasoline hybrids are the worst of both worlds.
Why? I’ve had the Ioniq 5 for two years and 50,000km; see no reason for a hybrid.
@@bungee7503 make sure you have lots and lots of warranty and time to wait for a magical fix when this POS breaks down. Its a warning, you will ignore, when this POS breaks down I will laugh and laugh and laugh.
No one asked
@bitbat9 You somewhat assume I care, trust me. I do not care about ypuat all. In fact. If I met you in a dark alley you'd be in trouble.... just because....no reason really.
