Nice comparison bro you covered everything. You are defo leaning towards more video functions for your reasoning as to why you would pick the a7c. This is one of the best A7C reviews on youtube! Don't know if you have cameras or other lenses laying around but you should do a gear/tech channel! I also sold my a7 III for the A7C for similar reasons. The tracking AF, smaller size, and the flip-out screen was the main reasons for me to switch and compromise the better a7 III EVF, custom buttons, and dual card slots. There's no better camera, but only better camera for your needs.
Thank you so much! My Onewheel videos were kind of a warmup while I learned the ins and outs of TH-cam. I'm definitely transitioning to be a more camera/photography/filmmaking channel. Sold my A7III too. Best decision I've made in a while. Thanks for watching!

But seeing you guys make the jump has me thinking about the a7c for the added video perks and the fact I still love the size of my a6300 even tho it overheats on paid work lol... Hey Ellis, I suppose it's personal preference....but I do not regret the purchase of the A7C at all. For landscape shooting, it's nice being able to use a 16mm and actually get 16mm. On your 6500, you would need a 10 or 11mm to get the same fov...which not a lot of people make
I own a few Leica M rangefinders, and the A7C is about the same size. Put on the 35mm Zeiss for the Sony, and it's very fast and silent. I find it faster than my Leica M's.

I have always been interested in learning a little bit about photography. I don't intend to use it as a business, just a hobby. Do you think it is worth expending the moneys in a Sony A7c if i will be using it just as a hobby and while i learn basics of photography?
I use my 70-200 f2.8 GM with the A7C all the time. I guess it depends on how low the light is...but check my IG for some night shots with the A7C. It handles low light like a champ IMO
Best camera for faimly photography. A7c a7riii. i want excilent lowlight crisp photos..best dyminc range. Super deatil. Plzzzz guide me...me budght is 1600 usa dollor...i want used camera 2hand
Mat I have the A6500 nice but I would like to get a full frame camera I do like the A7c Because I have record issues with my A6500 the low light wavey look 😱 omg
The viewfinder and size were the deal breakers for me on the A7C over the A7iii. The viewfinder is small and terrible and I don’t need a camera to be any smaller. A7C seems more geared towards video and vlogging.
I used to own a A7III. Because 2020 did throw us in this weird "C-tuation" my plans to become a filmmaker made a step back. After a pretty decent loss in crypto, I ended up selling the A7III. Now I got the A7C, and it fixed all the flaws I had about the A7III. With the focus on shooting videos, the A7C is the camera of my dreams. The perfect "FX1.5" 😂
This is by far the best comparison video available online. You basically covered every aspect of the two cameras that make them similar and different. Absolutely loved it! Would you still recommend 7C in 2022? If yes, what about pairing it with a Samyang 85 mm 1.4 lens?
Thank you! Actually, I just released a video on the very subject of the A7C in 2022. 😊 Sorry, I can’t comment on the Samyang because I haven’t tried it. I own the 85 1.8 and I’ve used the 85 GM…which are both awesome lenses.
Have you compared its low light performance to the A7iii or A7sii? I am on the edge of buying this one but not sure if It has the same low light capabilities as A7iii

Awesome review man! I just picked up this camera and I’m loving it so far. For the handling of the camera size, do they sell a cover to make the grip bigger for someone with bigger hands?
I have been researching to buy either of A7iii or a7c. My purpose is live streaming events which are 1-2 hours long easily. I will not be recording on camera but on OBS. I think you convinced me somewhat to buy a7c even though the events do not need much movement of camera or the subject being recorded. Let me know if you think i should go with a7iii :p
Hey Aun, I think it's a good choice. You may not be moving too much...but if you're shooting with a shallow depth of field, you may still go out of focus. For video, I'd say hands down go for the A7C
I’m probably gonna get the A7C sometime soon. And prob sell my pocket 4K, as much as I love the image quality having such a big rig is so cumbersome to use. And getting an A7C would be a great camera to compliment my a6400.
@@MattYamamoto100 Oh that’s great! Well now I’m kinda rethinking lol. I would love an A7C but I feel like if I’m selling my pocket I’d want to get the FX3 so I can at least have 10 bit and 4K 120. Guess I gotta save up lol
@@cj64films the FX3 is amazing. I want one too! ...but if I got one, I'd probably carry around two bodies because I'm a true hybrid shooter and I take A LOT of photos. For now, the A7C has been filling both rolls quite nicely...but I hear ya about 10bit and 4k 120. Would be very nice to have
@@MattYamamoto100 Yeah see that’s the same boat I’m in lol. Because I do take a lot of photos as well. I was mainly wanting the FX3 to be my video work horse and then do photo gigs with the a6400. Maybe the A74 will have 10 bit?
@@cj64films the A6400 does take beautiful photos!...but I the I find the bokeh on a full frame more pleasing, especially for paid gigs. Oh man...if the A7IV has 10bit, 4k 60p or 120p...it's going to be a done deal. lol I think my ideal setup right now would be A7C + FX3
For stills, I've gotten pretty similar results from my a7iii vs my a7c in terms of IBIS. I can consistently handhold 1/10 shutter speed....maybe slower, but I haven't tried. :)
I'm not a big flash user, so do your own research on this...but I've read of a lot of people having success with hss on the a7c. you just need to find the right flash. Hey Jason, sorry man, I'm not as familiar with Canons as I am Sony. One big question is...how invested are you in Canon glass?
@@MattYamamoto100 Not that invested anymore since I sold them for the A7C already lol
I own a few Leica M rangefinders, and the A7C is about the same size. Put on the 35mm Zeiss for the Sony, and it's very fast and silent. I find it faster than my Leica M's.
great review man! my main camera is the a7s3 but I'm looking for a 2nd cam. I think the a7c is the best choice right now but i'm still waiting around for the a7iv. I hope it's released soon
me too! lol. just couldn't wait any longer. the hdmi thing with my a7iii was killing me, so I sold it and got the a7c. so much happier now
I have always been interested in learning a little bit about photography. I don't intend to use it as a business, just a hobby. Do you think it is worth expending the moneys in a Sony A7c if i will be using it just as a hobby and while i learn basics of photography?
I think the A7C is perfect for that!
I love your onewheel videos, and now you made a vid on the camera I’m gonna get 😂👏👏
haha. nice!
@@MattYamamoto100 update: I got the a7c
What are your thoughts about using the A7C with a 200mm lens in low-light surveillance photography?
I use my 70-200 f2.8 GM with the A7C all the time. I guess it depends on how low the light is...but check my IG for some night shots with the A7C. It handles low light like a champ IMO
Best camera for faimly photography. A7c a7riii. i want excilent lowlight crisp photos..best dyminc range. Super deatil. Plzzzz guide me...me budght is 1600 usa dollor...i want used camera 2hand
Any 100fps and eye focusing with Ninja V monitor?
Mat I have the A6500 nice but I would like to get a full frame camera I do like the A7c
Because I have record issues with my A6500 the low light wavey look 😱 omg
The viewfinder and size were the deal breakers for me on the A7C over the A7iii. The viewfinder is small and terrible and I don’t need a camera to be any smaller. A7C seems more geared towards video and vlogging.
Agreed, I’m starting a YT Channel. It’s perfect for that use case. Portable and powerful
LOVE THE REVIEW
I'm mostly interested in a run and gun style of video shooting. Does the 7c lend itself more to that?
th-cam.com/video/6IbT3HrT6Xw/w-d-xo.html did you have this problem with your A7C?
I just ordered one. I’m think about getting the smallrig cage with the grippy handle for it and the extended silicone eye cup thing.
The perfect "FX1.5" 😂
lol. nice. I like that
As you have owned both cameras, Is the low light performance of both cameras same?
@@crookedfilms4190 I‘ve noticed no difference.
Now debating to add this to my A6400, I primarily just shoot stills
That’s my combo now. Sold my A7III...now I have the A7C and A6400. Great combo. For pics...you’ll be happy with the Bokeh on the FF sensor. So nice
I just bought the A6400 to go with my A7C. Best combo!
@@MattYamamoto100 I gotta check this out cause I been missing full frame though my clientele still love my work. I'm just ether too hard on myself etc.
@@HAHHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA you would be totally fine with APSC for paid gigs. Going FF will just give your photos a little something extra. Also...I don't know if you're already use FF glass...if not, then you'll be happier with the lens selections going FF
@@MattYamamoto100 My first FF was a Sony A7II that was destroyed due to a client. Couldn't find the deal again so had to settle with A6400
Thanks, sold.
You can buy a frame with a better grip (from Ali..), at least I fixed this issue this way
I tried saying, Subject Shift Sensitivity fast 10 times, now my tongue has cramps 🤣
I think that one took me a few takes too. lolol
informative and engaging. some questions: can the C1-C3 Mode be used for stills AND motion? do you know if the Sony XLR-K3M adapter works with the A7C's hot shoe? lastly, have you used a flash with the A7C? if so, care to share? thanks in advance for any of the above info. i look forward to your A7C journey and future YT vids.
If you're referring to the 1-3 positions on the mode dial, then yes, you can set for video and stills. Yes, it is compatible with the XLR-K3M...which i thought about including in the video...but it was already getting too long. lol. I rarely use on-camera flashes, sorry. thanks for watching!
Awesome review man! I just picked up this camera and I’m loving it so far. For the handling of the camera size, do they sell a cover to make the grip bigger for someone with bigger hands?
Smallrig has a cage out now that adds some size to the right grip, it’s like $60
th-cam.com/video/6IbT3HrT6Xw/w-d-xo.html DID YOU HAVE this problem with the a7c?
Nice one ☺️👍
thanks matt from holland
Thank you!
@@MattYamamoto100 thanks alot. The money i save on a7c instead of a7iii, i will invest that on good pair of lights 😀
@@coolaunry Good choice! Lights are so important!
You did not touch the subject that this camera has no option to turn off EFCS, which affects banding/bokeh.
I’m probably gonna get the A7C sometime soon. And prob sell my pocket 4K, as much as I love the image quality having such a big rig is so cumbersome to use.
And getting an A7C would be a great camera to compliment my a6400.
Awesome! You'll love it! BTW...I sold my A7III, so my current setup is A6400 + A7C! Great minds! :)
Oh man...if the A7IV has 10bit, 4k 60p or 120p...it's going to be a done deal. lol
I think my ideal setup right now would be A7C + FX3
I own a a7c and i must say a7c is a good buy if you are into videos but a7iii got good ibis.thats all.otherwise a7c slaps.
For stills, I've gotten pretty similar results from my a7iii vs my a7c in terms of IBIS. I can consistently handhold 1/10 shutter speed....maybe slower, but I haven't tried. :)
Very dope
Nice comparison...
Thank you! and thanks for watching!
A7C should have had a front wheel to control aperture, sigh, I guess all my lenses will have to be Sigma i lenses :-)
I wanted this camera so bad but it cannot do High Speed Sync. Im thinking Sony did this on purpose
I'm not a big flash user, so do your own research on this...but I've read of a lot of people having success with hss on the a7c. you just need to find the right flash. I think some on dpreview were saying that they could get no banding at 1/4000 with a V1 at high noon on a bright sunny day. So there may be hope! :) Thanks for watching
A7c is for TH-cam that's it I have test them ,a7iii is more pro camera then a7c
Got my a7c, now I want a7siii 😭😭😭
lol. welcome to the club.
Battery life is better shooting with the LCD than the EVF? What kind of dark magic is that...
Right?! I can only imagine that they are upping the frame rate so people can more easily capture fast moving subjects for burst shooting
Skip a7c, wait for a7IV! :)
I can't, No 50-60p in 4k :/, no 10 bits...if only there was that, for 1800usd. I would have liked
I agree that it would be nice to have those. But this video was for people trying to decide between the A7III or the A7C. If you need 4k60 and 10bit, then obviously, these two choices are out...but then you're at a higher price point. Thanks for the input and thanks for watching!
@@MattYamamoto100 Thank you :) Good review and I subscribe.
@@comptoirdugeek7213 Awesome! Thank you. Much appreciated!
I think the a74 will have those features, but it will probably be more competitively priced at $2500 to compete w/ the R6 & S1.
@@dominicgray2187 I can't wait to see what Sony does with the a7iv!
