I've never seen a single video of yours and only happened to chance on this one just looking for a comparison between these two products, but you are more entertaining than the game streamers I watch. Subbed and liked.
The Fuji colour was significantly more pleasing, and the camera has 10-bit, 4K60 and slow-motion up to 240. The Sony offers Full Frame, far more lens choices, better dynamic range, superior AF, and the wire-free Digital Mic for the hot-shoe. Sony's Magenta bias, particularly in the shadows, let it down, but it would be interesting to know what choices you made grading the SLOG2 originals, and whether someone like Gerald Undone could have matched the Sony more closely to the Fuji? I was impressed with the stabilisation on the Fuji paired with that 16mm 1.4.
Not sure why people still use S-log2 with Sony. Log profiles are too fragile on 8 bit codecs. The smallest mistake you make in exposure or grading and the whole video is ruined. Also, do you still lose autofocus in S-log? I know that the A7iii you lose phase detect in S-log iirc. I tried shooting in log, but the workflow is too complicated for only publishing on social media. Graded a clip for 4 hours and there's always patches of broken colour no matter wat I did. Ended up shooting with no picture profile these days. Maybe one day when I'm doing real film work with 12 bit or 14 bit raw, I'll try log profiles.
@@professionalpotato4764 I have to agree with you. I'm comfortable in color grading and enjoy the process.. Sony's just fall apart, hate the magenta shadows and blocks. Only when I shoot with an Atomos Shinobi with my LUTs and manual focus would I consider log on 8bit Sony so I know how it will look after so no risk of exposure / WB errors. Agree, Neutral profile or Standard slightly desaturated and less contrast turns out wayyy better. Maybe Cine. Once you start seeing the fine color details it really makes you want real cine cameras haha.
If you actually care about the quality of your footage and can be assed learning how to correct and grade properly then you have nothing to worry about. 8 bit slog2 is fine just remember to use ITU709 Matrix (watch Calebs video on why). I use A7iii slog2 itu709 for all my professional work (weddings, corporate, realestate etc) and have no problems doing heavy grading in Resolve and using color space transforms. You need to think proactivly with your footage and not pull stupid skin keys that fall apart instantly. Always WB with a grey card, shoot 1-1.7 stops over and use the HDR wheels, primaries, and hue curves in Resolve to make natural changes which aren't destructive. Even if you shoot on an Arri you can still make it fall apart with poor grading skills. Unfortunately Sony's magenta shadows are a problem still on the a7siii, but even with basic ass skills you can correct that easily. Sony's actual cinema line gives you what slog 3 should look like (fx9, venice, fs7 etc).

Buying lenses on the E mount and upgrading the body over time makes more sense than doing the same on X mount. 10 bit color is really the only practical advantage Fuji has. Sure 240fps is fun, but unnecessary. Sony has AF, full frame, lenses, user-base. I'm still targeting the A7c and those tiny, mighty Samyang 1.8s.
Great video! To me the fuji looks sharper, better skintones (unless you want to do a Attack of the killer tomato's sequel) And it looks like it handles difficult lighting conditions better. The Sony might have a small edge for slightly better autofocus. So for people like me who don't like to colorgrade to much, the fuji is a clear winner.
Thanks for these great reviews and comparisons - really appreciated! I'm seeing noticeable banding (e.g. at 2:22) on the grey wall (true for both cameras) - is this visible on the files coming out of the camera, or is this an artifact due to processing/YT upload?
OOOOOOOH, I'm so curious about the Fujifilm S10. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place with all these good cameras. I want one to film music videos. Excited to see your thoughts on that on the 15th.
POV from a first time viewer: When this video first started, I thought "this video's gonna be a little weird". I wasn't wrong, but it's still a great video. Thanks for the great entertaining review and commentary.
The 16/1.4 is too good for TH-cam. Somebody needs to develop an entirely new social media platform from the ground up that can handle the Glory Machine.
How old is your computer? I have an A7C and catalyst browse stabilizes footage super fast. Way faster than warp stabilize in premier. I shoot on a gimbal and then run through catalyst and it looks like its on a dolly haha.
It's awesome. I shoot mostly video and a little bit of photos now and then so the A7C was the better option by far. The image quality is fantastic and low light performance is excellent. @Camera Conspiracies can you tell me which camera you consider is better between A7C and XT4, for the next situation: - very crispy image & background, as I will be filming dance videos tutorials and I need a very detailed image of me and my reflection in the mirror in the same time - wide angle, as I will be filming myself in a quite small room, - very good autofocus ( I will be moving a lot) - great colours, and if is possible straight out of the camera, I won’t have much time to play about with the post editing - user friendly ( beginner friendly, especially for files video format, editing, sound/ microphone connection - to be able to record on camera with a good external mic, not to have to synchronise and post editing too much ) - unlimited recording and Zoom friendly, as I want to use it on my Zoom classes too ( I was looking also at Sony A7Siii,, but is a bit pricier for me in this moment and for what I need to do with the camera, so, I better find the best option between sony a7c, Fuji Xt4,, or if will be announced later on this year, sony A74 ). Any advice will be appreciated! Thank you!!
the a7c seems the best for you. unlimited recording which the fuji doesnt have. to get crisp foreground and background you just need to use higher aperture number, like f4, f5 etc. the lenses of full frame are quiet highly priced and since youre going for higher aperture you might want to consider sony apsc cameras, like the new sony zve10.
The warping on the xt-4, especially towards the end when you talk about the sd card slots, is making me think twice..... it almost look like the very piss-poor android image stabalization from their old galaxy phones

Wish you could test the hobo lens (Samyang AF 18mm f2.8) on the hobo camera (Sony A7C). To me it sounds like the perfect advanced TH-cam hobo kit.
From colors it was hard to guess in the beginning but the autofocus made it easy for sony
The background blur was also helpful
He's using a $300 viltrox lens on the fuji. Check your donkey brain before you comment.
PJ it was just an opinion relax. Viltrox lenses are better than Fuji lenses
@@simonsalfred8354 wasn't even an opinion it was a fact. Idk why he's mad lmao
@@simonsalfred8354 well now you're just talking nonsense.
Thanks for these great reviews and comparisons - really appreciated!
I'm seeing noticeable banding (e.g. at 2:22) on the grey wall (true for both cameras) - is this visible on the files coming out of the camera, or is this an artifact due to processing/YT upload?
I know it's an insanely late reply but if you still wonder why it's due to shutter speed lol
OOOOOOOH, I'm so curious about the Fujifilm S10. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place with all these good cameras. I want one to film music videos. Excited to see your thoughts on that on the 15th.
It was the lady walking behind you for me.. lol her face was great.
Is it me or does the Sony apply a consistent mild sunburn to the skin in all situations and exposures?
I know within 10 second from the AF performance. Sony never let you down. Never!
Only cripple their cameras to make money on the a7siii
I noticed in the first 5 seconds because of the color science
@@voltvisuals they have to do that to be in business
POV from a first time viewer: When this video first started, I thought "this video's gonna be a little weird". I wasn't wrong, but it's still a great video. Thanks for the great entertaining review and commentary.
lol, you are the most entertaining guy in camera review land. love it..
Brother lowlight excellent images quality a7c or Sony a7sii which best camra body please reply me
Oooooh, Kasey got the X-S10! Looking forward to the review.
Nice one, can you tell me, if you could buy only one lens for XT4, which one would you go for??? Thanks.
16mm f1.4.
We need a video oh how to understand your LUT packs! I dont know what im looking for half the time when you throw them on.
I dont even care to buy a camera now. But this video is just so entertaining - about to grab popcorn and continue. lol
This is a very helpful review! Thank you!
This is the best channel on youtube.
How’s the a7c... I’m caught inbetween a7iii and the a7c...
It's awesome.
I shoot mostly video and a little bit of photos now and then so the A7C was the better option by far. The image quality is fantastic and low light performance is excellent. I really love the new colour science, unlimited record time, no overheating and the flippy screen.
The only disadvantages the A7C has is the EVF isn't as good and no dual card slots.
@@sandro6691 thanks for that Sandro, appreciate it... needed mostly for you tube and photography... i mean i love both a7iii and a7c... the image on the a7c video is far better I believe
@@ThePistonPit It's the same sensor, just better processing and the colour is good out of camera on the standard picture profile. I'm really happy I went with the A7C. I was in the same position, tossing up between those two.
@@sandro6691 thanks for helping out, appreciate it👍🏼👌🏼🙏🏼
What's the status of the gh5s?
dude you are so fun!!! and informative! nice vid
You need to get Camera Canada to hook you up with a Fuji GFX 100, not only will you get full frame destroying toneh, but you'll hit your one armed pull up goal 10x faster.
The 16mm f1.4 performed really well! So cute f2f meeting at 14:00 !!! :D
Fuji by a million. But for real though that 16 1.4 is magic.
Overall I don't like the a7c, but fuji looked much softer in terms of sharpness. Are the Sony lenses just more superior or is this the full frame magic? In all other categories (except of AF) Fuji is a winner!
your slowmo test video is the best on earth.
I prefer Fuji colors
"She ain't gonna invite you to dinner with that lens!"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
fuji xt5 with 18-55mm or sony a7c with tamron 20-40mm?
I knew the right is a7c because of autofocus glitch of xt-4 within 5 seconds.
Yea, buy the crippled and overpriced A7c and be happy. Try the 23 1.4 if you insist to use non Fujinon lenses. Kudos to 7SIII a monster. Know your camera and overcome problems.
@@larslindstrom1245 Yeah, but buying into Fuji means you pay GM pricing for a smaller format lens. Not a very smart choice imo.
@@professionalpotato4764 "Full frame" huh? Big boys go for medium format.
It’s the Tamron
@@fedearbelaez4912 If it suits your needs why not? All formats have their strengths and weaknesses. I would like to try one, but I'm already annoyed by ff sizes and weight. I'll pass. Waiting for the day Fuji opens their bloody X-mount. I will never pay full frame price for APS-C lenses.
Wow, picture looks way nicer on the Fuji. Did you colour grade either? If not, what colour profiles were you using?
Love that Fuji XT4 with the 16m 1.4
Fuji seems to have creamier blacks yet Sony is almost too contrasted. Could be partly YT compression as well.
Thanks! You are awesome. I choose Fuji. I like the color, look more cinematic. Have FUN!
this vid was quite funny Toneh but i always finish your vids more conflicted ~ its very relaxing ~ one day ima buy M50 bcoz the flip screen and auto focus just for making vids but its very confusing and why r cameras all black and silver its weird, your music is good 2
Is the 16 mm footage corrected in post for distortion?
It looks great.
I do see why you’ve been stubbornly holding on to Fuji.
It requires the least effort to get pleasing results.
Oh the clarity of the Sony
does the fuji always jump like it did at 9:50 when you did that big pan?
what tripod/pole are you using holding the TX4? is it ok to use for similar purpose on a X-S10?
thanks.
My gear is in amazon shop in the description.
As a Sony shooter, I prefer the Fuji/Viltrox combo in this video. What have I done!?
16mm 1.4 performed very well
Im just curious, tamron lenses are working with catalyst browse? That would be my ultimate combo. Cheap, light setup with post stabe. Thanks for letting me know :)
Yes.
@@cameraconspiracies Thanks, i appreciate your answer :)
Have you seen the exposure stepping while zooming on the Fuji?
@Camera Conspiracies can you tell me which camera you consider is better between A7C and XT4, for the next situation:
- very crispy image & background, as I will be filming dance videos tutorials and I need a very detailed image of me and my reflection in the mirror in the same time
- wide angle, as I will be filming myself in a quite small room,
- very good autofocus ( I will be moving a lot)
- great colours, and if is possible straight out of the camera, I won’t have much time to play about with the post editing
- user friendly ( beginner friendly, especially for files video format, editing, sound/ microphone connection - to be able to record on camera with a good external mic, not to have to synchronise and post editing too much )
- unlimited recording and Zoom friendly, as I want to use it on my Zoom classes too
( I was looking also at Sony A7Siii,, but is a bit pricier for me in this moment and for what I need to do with the camera, so, I better find the best option between sony a7c, Fuji Xt4,, or if will be announced later on this year, sony A74 ).
@@truthseeker6804 thank you so much for your advice!! I will have a think about, seems a good idea!
@@truthseeker6804 how does the new Fujifilm stack xs-20 up against Sony a7c , zve10
@@carlosr.2027 get the canon r8 or r10
The warping on the xt-4, especially towards the end when you talk about the sd card slots, is making me think twice..... it almost look like the very piss-poor android image stabalization from their old galaxy phones
