One thing to note about the A7C and its shutter speed is that with Silent Shooting Mode turned off, the max limit is 1/4000 but if you turn on Silent Mode it goes up to a max of 1/8000 which now helps under heavy bright light situations. Hope that helps others make a more definitive purchase against the two cameras :).

About the only thing you mentioned that i see as useful in my use that i actually like and would make use of is the selectable autofocus colors. Deeper buffer ..... meh , faster transfer again ..... meh , handy if you actually make use them perhaps , none of those items you mentioned would i bother looking to get rid of my A73 for .

ive been going back and forth on these two for a while but this is the first video that ive seen that showed the difference in color to be less magenta and more green which is much better in my opinion. Thank you. Sony's skin tones have been a concern but i can handle that look.

The one (and most) important difference for video is : the a7c includes the stabilizator of (ASiii, zv-1) so you just "turn off" your -in body stabilizator- and then in post you can use the free "catalyst browse" software from sony with excelent performance.
why is it so imprtant ? what is the main reason for using this stab on post by gyro data raher using main InBodyStab ? Does it work more accurete ? more settings and you can tweak it better ? i wached a couple of tests on youtube and cant really find out something outstanding i was trying to imagine a real case it can be the right and the only tool to make job done it is when you using kind of two weel gyroscooter and a mechanical stab system standing on it.... cause there is a theory that electronic mothorized gimbal dosent handle this sittuation very good ( it was so a few years ago anyway) ...stop....what am i tallking about.... u can still use IBIS.... so what are the scenarios to use this stab-on-post feature ?
Genuinely a terrible feature. DaVinci Resolve can stabilize video in post even in the free version. And it doesn't require you to shut off your camera's IBIS.
The a7C is definitely on my wish list. I hope that they have a battery grip for sale, because I know that with my huge hands I will have to get one. Great review...as always.
I think it's important to note you can set other buttons/ arrows to certain functions on the A7C so even if it has less specifically custom buttons, you can still get more customization if needed.
Price is market dependent. Here A7C is $500 more than A7III; or for A7C body only with flip screen and single card slot, one gets A7III with dual card slots with faster shutter and f1.8 35mm or 50mm lens. That's why online reviews are not clear cut, because the value proposition doesn't seem to be there for everyone.
a7III would be my choice, atleast for photography. Video wise the flip screen of the a7C is nicer plus unlimited recording. But other than that I like the a7iii!
I'm so pleased with my A7III and now that I do need a second camera, I'm skipping the A6600 that was my first choice for several months back, was just waiting to collect the money. But now I believe I'll wait for the A7-IV, seems like it's around the corner.
Yes i like my A73 too , even with its one or two little quirks , the lack of touch screen functionality other than focus still annoys me to this day :) , and while the menu system used to annoy me a bit , i have learned the basics and become accustomed to it now . My only one real thought that could be considered a downside to the A73 is the lack of water resistance . I would hope sony will at least improve this area with the A74 .
I always liked Sony a6xxx build factor. It reminds me of my Olympus 35 rangefinder. And I always wondered if ever Sony will have a full frame with a6xxx body form factor. If not for the amateurish screen monitor the Sony A7C would have been that camera.
They replaced the shutter mechanism because it has been well documented that the A7III shutter fails/failed very frequently, sometimes just after a couple thousand of shots.
I like the stiling of the Sony A7c very much with the EVF out to the very side of the camera, I hope that all future A7/A9 Sony cameras will have this design, but with larger EVF in higher resolution.
I wish to upgrade from a Canon M50, but I don't see myself using a camera that does not have a flip out touchscreen, the A7C seems to be the more similar of the 2 when it comes to weight, form factor and screen. But the price is soooo similar that I don't know, maybe it's better to get the A7iii because of the extra controls, but I've been using the M50 so i might not actually need all the extra dials and buttons. I shoot astro photography in some occasions.

Missed the most important factor; the improved IBIS. So far only TH-camrs have really cared about Sony entry level full frame for video work. For anything in the field, especially because the Fujifilm weather sealing is so much better, the IBIS on the A7III is terrible when compared to the Fujifilm X-T4. Sony was only "slightly behind" in numerical stop terms, but the planar distortion put it far behind because the sensor size is a big part of determining it. The A7C is much more usable and really is the first full frame camera around the $2000 price area that can almost match the X-T4, and beating the Z6II.

@@CocoOwnzU The biggest challenge for me was the flip screen, followed by the size, and lastly the weight. Since I can get the same quality of video from A7C, it just made more sense. However now that the A7IV has the flip screen, I would consider that as an option. It all boils down to what you are going to use it for. I was using A7C for vlogs but now I use a different camera for that, and that's why I wouldn't mind the size and weight. I hope this helps.
What a great video! This is exactly what I needed since my mic jack just broke on my A7III and am now considering buying the A7C as a B-cam, which then maybe might become my A-cam for videos. Is the mic jack just as flimsy on the A7C as it was on the A7III? Or do you think I should save up some more money and go for the A7SIII?
That's the reason the X-T4 comes with the USB-C adapter (the vertical grip has headphone out though) because USB-C is rated for 300,000 plug/unplug ops while minijack only 50,000. Just get an X-T4 if all you do is video, better IBIS, much better weather sealing, longer lifetime shutter, more video capabilities. Have to buy an expensive lens to get the same focus capability though, which is the big downside.
Don’t know about the mic jack but the IBIS on a7c is totally useless for video. All footages are shaking like hell unfortunately. Does anyone know if there is any difference between the two in terms video stabilization?!🙏
Love my A7c. Keep the kit lens on there, you've got a 28/F4 pancake equipped full frame camera... masquerading as a point and shoot. You can literally hang it off a wrist strap and go hoof it through the city no problem. Swap the kit lens out for proper glass and get down to actual shooting too. I hang it by my keys and head out with it every day. Definitely couldn't do that with my chonky DSLR.
I’m on the fence on buying this one. The only thing I try to find out, is if you switch between video and M for stills, does it keep separate settings like shutterspeed for example? And in that case, does that also apply to the record button?

The C has a coldshoe that excepts the new digital mic - so no mic jack lead is needed - I think it also has better battery life and can charge the battery while using.
I could not figure out how i can activate in the menue the eye Af during monitoring via hdmi monitor. In the record mode my screen on the a7c turns black and i see only the video in the monitor. Hm, what is the trick to see the video on the screen and on the monitor during in the recording mode?
I cant do this anymore. I watched hundreds of comparisons of these two cameras already in order to decide which to buy. I go with the A7C because of the more pleasing shutter sound 😂

I bought the Sony A7III a week ago and never used it. I am planning to return it because I heard a lot of them will get a broken shutter. Now I am thinking to get the A7C but I heard it doesn’t have such a good image stabilization. I don’t know what to do.
The exact dilemma I'm having. I know realistically I cannot afford to invest in the 7iv when it comes out so debating the two in this video. I'm upgrading from the A6500 so any would be an improvement I'm sure!

The A7iii mic port breaking is a known issue. Not sure if it's "fixed" on the A7C tho.

a7c EVF has 120 htz refresh rate superior to the 60htz on the a7iii - surprised you haven't mentioned.

Why do Sony cameras (other than A7C) make you format memory cards when switching NTSC to PAL frame rates?
The exact dilemma I'm having. I know realistically I cannot afford to invest in the 7iv when it comes out so debating the two in this video. I'm upgrading from the A6500 so any would be an improvement I'm sure!

Does it mean that it performs better regarding autofocus when it comes to make youtube videos, content creation and so on and you use clean hdmi out?
Now a day's which one will be best?? A7iii or a7c.... I'll purchase new... And use it for weeding & travell 🙂🙂🙂
