Steve Perry is considered the greatest rock vocalist of all time and I totally agree. Nobody but nobody has his smoothness and the range and does it with such ease
Journey with Steve Perry is amazing! Their live performance of Open Arms , Mother Father, Wheel in The Sky, Live Houston 1981 are a must!! Every song Steve Perry sings is golden.. he's in his own lane! He also has many different styles with soul..he patterns his voice after Sam Cooke. His live performances help one to really appreciate his talent. He is known as The Voice💕
"Don't Stop Believin" is pretty iconic from Journey. "Any Way You Want it" "Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin" "Wheel in the Sky" "Lights" "Stone in Love" and "Open Arms" are some other big songs.
The close by Perry is always praised but what makes it great is Perry’s vocals blended with the great guitar solo by Schon which I think may be the best Guitar Vocal close to a rock song ever!
@2:47 I was in the Navy when this song was huge, every time we heard it in a bar in PI, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, or wherever, we would all change the lyrics "Loving a Navy Man ain't all what its suppose to be," as we sang along. Then we would just kinda get sad as we missed ours. I did in fact find joy in rediscovering my beautiful wife, who has stood by me for the last 39yrs, after each long deployment. She is the light of my life. This is a powerful love song for sure.
Steve Perry is in his own stratosphere. The notes he holds are insane. The expression on both your faces was priceless and expected when he hit those last few high notes of the song. Really enjoy y'all's channel. Especially when you review the music I grew up with.
I am so glad you are discovering one of the greatest voices in rock. He has no match as far as I'm concerned. I grew up listening to Journey.I was a teenager during the 80s, so I'm thankful I could experience all of this growing up. I'm so glad you are discovering what actual singing is and what true rock and roll is.
So many great songs. I would suggest "Don't Stop Believing" next to get more of their upbeat side and after that "With Open Arms" to really see what his voice can do.
Hello sharon, how're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
Rik Emmet from triumph just as good, and a virtuoso guitarist too..check out their live set from '83 US Festival...one of the greatest live sets EVER RECORDED!
I live in Nashville, TN and several years ago the local Christian radio station played this by mistake and it blew up their phone lines, everyone wanted to know who was singing the song (they loved it).
One of the best bands of all time. Steve Perry has an amazing voice. You should definitely continue your journey of Journey 🙂. So many good songs like Don't Stop Believin', Wheel in the Sky, Open Arms, Stone In Love, Who's Crying Now, Ask The Lonely, Girl Can't Help It, Mother Father, Send Her My Love, and Any Way You Want It.
Came across you while seeing others react to this song. This was my prom song back in 97. The whole prom was set to it. Every napkin, glass and invitation said faithfully on it... Was an amazing night. And btw, you mentioned you do sports also... GO BILLS!!! BILLS MAFIA!!!! LOL
As you explore more Journey, I bet you will recognize many of their songs. Steve Perry was known as "The Voice" and as others have said, his vocals are famous and in every top ten list. Journey was HUGE throughout the 1980s especially. True "arena band" in that they sold out massive venues around the globe. I was blessed to see them in concert 3 times, first when they were just beginning, and then twice in San Francisco at the Oakland Coliseum. Steve Perry was my #1 teenage celebrity crush! Then, as an older married woman, I met him twice because I lived in his hometown of Hanford in CA. Great guy. I still have his autograph in my personal memorabilia bin. LOL!
They started the power ballad! In the 80's, Journey was EVERYTHING!! So lucky to have grown up with this kind of music. Turned on the radio and always something great!
One of the deepest music holes you can dive into. This is their soft stuff, but they rock out with the best of them. 'Stone In Love' is one of my favorites and an excellent jam.
I was lucky enough to have grown up with parents who bought the new Journey albums as they came out. This record was played nearly daily for quite a while in my household. I was 13 when this was released and I'm proud to say I've seen Journey play live on several occasions with my parents. Great band! Glad you are doing reactions of their material. May I suggest you go a bit further back in their catalog and do "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin" or my personal favorite double track segued into one another "Feelin' that Way/Anytime" (if you wanna see the real rockin' side of the band).
I don't know if you have done it yet but you should do the official video of Journey's "Send Her My Love" (the one where they are doing a concert and Steve Perry is in a white jacket)! Its like they had me in mind when writing this song..... the love of my life lost because of immaturity. This song follows my experience and how I feel to a T! Funny thing is, in the official video of this song, the girl in the crowd at 0:47.... looks like her. To Anne; you will forever hold a piece of my heart..... sending you my love.
Wow, what an awesome song for y’all to start the rabbit hole with Journey! I grew up, listening to Journey in high school. My favorite Journey song is “Faithfully.” It really shows what their life on the road is like. Sharing all of those emotions and feelings are awesome. Steve Perry is known as the “VOICE.” You can’t go wrong with any Journey song! One of my favorite songs that sticks in my head, when I get emotional, is “Mother Father.” Enjoy your JOURNEY!!!❤️❤️❤️
One of the GOAT Steve Perry and Journey, yall just scratching the surface, "Don't stop believing,"Wheels in the Sky","Open Arms ","Stone in Love"and alot more hits.
Great reaction as always! Steve Perry is one of those "there will never be another like him" vocalists. In my mind, he's easily top 3 all time. The man was perfection on studio recordings, and yet... He was somehow even better live in concert! I want to also very highly recommend "Mother Father" from the live 1981 Houston concert. Not to say the studio version isn't good, but its actually a letdown compared to that live version! Steve Perry said its the hardest song that he has ever sung, but he knocks it out of the park in Houston! Take care and keep the awesome reactions coming!!
Actually, the Houston concert was in 1981 and that version of "Mother Father" is unbelievable. I also recommend a song I'm pretty sure you've heard, "Don't stop Believin" from that same concern.
@@kimberlyroets9334 Thank you for catching the typo!! My fat fingers hit the 9 instead of the 8 by mistake and I didn't even realize it. 🤣 I corrected it in my comment! Thanks again!
Finally. Your musical "Journey" has finally led to Journey. Haha. To really appreciate Steve Perry's vocals, I'd urge you to listen to them live. "Mother, Father". Live from Houston 1981.

My mum introduced me to journey when i was 4. They are one of the ealiest bands i listened to. She used to loved this song so much, i used to love seperate ways (more at the time), of course as a child you tend to like more catchy things. When i got older i realised why she loved this song so much.
Try the Journey "Throwback" song "Just The Same Way", that was the Debut of Steve Perry to the band as the lead singer. He switches back & forth with their first singer Gregg Rollie, who was Also one of Carlos Santana's Original Singers. He sings lead on Santana's Classic Hit, "Black Magic Woman".
You have just stumbled upon one of the greatest bands of all time -- and the lead vocalist known as "The Voice." If you need convincing, you have to check out "Mother Father" from the Houston 1981 Escape Tour. Watch and listen to them live. I know you will be amazed... Thanks!
Journey has been together for 50 years. When Steve Perry joined them around 76-78 they skyrocketed to one of the biggest bands in the world. He became the biggest member in the band. Journey was the king of the power ballads. Jonathan Cain (keyboard player) wrote this song about his fiancé at the time.
Now a days it is important to remind... NO AUTOTUNE... no manipulation... a live concert was LIVE... That voice was his... the musicianship was real....
Journey was probably a Top 3 band of the 80s. Tons of big songs. Excellent “album rock” that a kid could listen to in their bedroom and not get yelled at by the parents to turn it down.
Journey for the first time on the channel??? This song was written by the keyboardist Jonathan Cain (he's the one sitting in front of the pic of his then wife Tane'). The video is from Journey's documentary called 'Frontiers And Beyond', it was released in 1983, as well as the song. Here's a short list of my all time favorite songs from Classic Journey!!! 'Girl Can't Help It, The Party's Over (studio version), Lights, Stay Awhile, I'll Be Alright Without You, Message Of Love, Escape, Separate Ways 'Worlds Apart' (studio version it's longer than the video), When You Love A Woman, Why Can't This Night Go On Forever, Feelin' That Way, Wheel In The Sky (studio first, then live in Houston, Tx 1981 or live in Toyko 1980), Just The Same Way, Still They Ride (studio version), Mother Father (a MUST live in Houston, Tx 1981), Ask The Lonely, Chain Reaction, Edge Of The Blade, Who's Cryin' Now (studio or live in Houston 1981), Send Her My Love and last but not least ....... Any Way You Want It!!!' Have fun!!

The 80's was a goldmine of awesome bands and tunes. Journey definitely in the top ten but Steve Perry and his vocals are on a whole other level. Possibly the best lead vocalist ever for a rock band in my lifetime. I'm 59 and I love going down memory lane with these classic rock/pop reaction channels. This song held a special place in my heart as I got to dance with a girl I had a crush on but was out of my league at my senior prom after my date dumped me to go hit on my friend after we arrived.
Hello Kathleen, how're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
Great reaction as always and great song!!!!! I was fortunate enough to see journey twice the 2nd with FOREIGNER opening up fantastic show! Keep on rocking guys 🤟
Journey is a great American rock band formed in 1973 by former members of Santana, Steve Miller Band & Frumious Bandersnatch. Journey had their biggest commercial success between 78-87, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist. They had so many hits including "Open Arms", "Who's Crying Now", "Still They Ride", "Wheel In The Sky", "Send Her My Love", "After The Fall", "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'", "Any Way You Want It" etc.
Journey's biggest song is Don't Stop Believing. They were an innovator in the field of power ballads, but could still rock. For the ballad sound, try Still They Ride, Open Arms and Why Can't This Night Go on Forever. For livelier rock, Stone in Love, Girl Can't Help It and Any Way You Want It are great. And like others have said, Mother Father from their Houston 81 concert is amazing!
Steve Perry... Journey... my first concert at 15 outside my state fair concerts.. I remember seeing Charley Pride at 5 yrs old.. lol.. Journey has been my fav. I love all genres..

One of the greatest bands of all time. Almost impossible to find a bad song by Journey. Send Her My Love, Stone In Love, Who's Crying Now, Lovin Touchin Sqeezin. Just amazing music that you can't beat.
Listen to a Journey "super oldie" that possibly not many have heard, but the BEAUTY is incredible and the phrasing on Winds of March vocally....WOW!. "Winds of March" or "Patiently" Just luscious!
This song is SO beautiful to hear live, and I have seen Journey not once but twice in concert, and each time was a master class in performance. But ever since I moved out on my own from my family, this song has taken on a whole new dimension for me. I had to move to a whole new city, far from my friends, my family, and any amount of familiarity to me. It has been difficult at times, even with the new friends I've met in my new home. This song really hits home how much I MISS home, and being around my awesome family. Thank you for reacting to it. My eyes are now watery. 🥲

For the ballad sound, try Still They Ride, Open Arms and Why Can't This Night Go on Forever. For livelier rock, Stone in Love, Girl Can't Help It and Any Way You Want It are great. And like others have said, Mother Father from their Houston 81 concert is amazing!
"The Voice"
Steve Perry... Journey... my first concert at 15 outside my state fair concerts.. I remember seeing Charley Pride at 5 yrs old.. lol.. Journey has been my fav. I love all genres..
Hello michelle,
how're you doing?
Your comments caught my attention
and that is why I am reaching out to you.
Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!
It's nice meeting you here.
'Send her my Love' from this band is very hauntingly beautiful, same quality as this for sure. Recommend watching it!
If you've never heard of Journey before, you don't know what you are missing. Steve Perry is fabulous.
More from the 80’s. The best with Steve Perry - the GOAT
One of the greatest bands of all time. Almost impossible to find a bad song by Journey. Send Her My Love, Stone In Love, Who's Crying Now, Lovin Touchin Sqeezin. Just amazing music that you can't beat.
Don’t stop believing has to be the next one you do. Fantastic
You've had to have heard Don't stop believin? Iconic!
And this is such a great song from them. My Top 5 from them
You can not go wrong with any Journey! Nice trip.
Ah yes, senior year in high school! Got to see them on this tour....great show.
How do you not know about Journey? They started in the 70s and they are still performing. My 25 yr old was singing Journey at the age of 4.
I remember a dj back then saying that Steve Perry's voice could power a city. I believed it then, and I still do. Amazing.
Journey concerts were the thing between 77-86. Man all the scantily clad women. Good grief! Saw tours infinity thru Raised On Radio. A true blast! ❤
Don't know about Canada, but here in the U.S. in the 80's Journey was HUGE!!!
Saw them in 1982. One of my favorite concerts back then. They came back with four encores at the end of the concert.
