I own a 17 Impala. I bought it used 1 year old. I am completely happy with it. It now has 26K on it and has not given me any problems. Smoothest and quietest car I've ever owned. If you drive one you will want one.
@John Wick I have an LT model. It only has the 4cy in it but you would be surprised how much pick up it has and the 30 plus mpg isn't a bad thing either. It now has 45K on it.
I have a 2019 impala and I was wondering why there wasn't no ambient lighting in the back that was one of the reasons I bought this car im upset thanks for sharing that info I love the ambient lighting I also loves lights as well
My 2015 had it all the way around. I have a video of that one at night with the ambient lighting in the back seat. A lot of people asked me why is that a big deal, well it makes me feel more comfortable in the car at night. Its probably OCD, but I love the ambient lighting.
I got my 2017 impala premier.. love it. , really great car until-- just this month, the AC was blowing hot air. Had to take it to Chevy to get it fix. It took them 4 days to fix the AC coz they said there’s a leakage whatever.. thank God it’s still under 2 yrs warranty.. Now I got my baby back.. was happy until that night, I did not see the ambien light around the dash lights up.. what the heck! Hardy fix the AC but ruined the coolest thing , the ambien lights.. I’m scared that if I take it again back to hardy Chevy service, they might fix one and ruin another.. any advice ?
How are you liking the car after these months? I agree with you on a lot of your points. I have the 2017 Premiere. Same color exterior. My interior is Wheatstone, (whitish hue). Really am enjoying mine. The memory seat hold button is irritating. And wish the lighted trim inside went to the rear seats. Also, my 20” wheels along with the low profile tires, make it a bit rough and noisy ride. When it comes for tire replacement I will find the quietest tires. Michael
Transmission goofs? What the hell does that mean? A new car should not have transmission “GOOFS”!! Aren’t all your complaints known before you bought it during walk around a test drive? All your complaining is due to your own fault a little more time looking over the car by you would have made these issues known! Poor job on your part don’t blame gm you signed the papers after you looked it over
Do you still have this car? I literally just purchased this model year on Friday. I loved them since they came out in 2014. How has she held up for you?
I agree with you about the missing rear doors illumination. Frustrating. Did you end-up keeping the WiFi? I still love and use OnStar. It’s worth the price for me. My 2017 Premiere is the same color exterior as yours. Have the Light Wheat interior leather. What are you going to do now that they discontinued the Impala? Will be interested in what you end-up with. Nice critique video. Michael
I was shocked when I drove a 2020 LT model that had NOTHING included. No heated seats nor steering wheel. I overheard that the 2015-2017 was the best of the best.
"Nice car" 2 minutes later "piece of shit not buying GM again" 4 minutes later "I'm really happy". I mean really? You could have cut this video to 1/4 the time if you'd kept concise and didn't reiterate or contradict yourself. That being said, I really appreciate the comparison from 2015-2017 because thats exactly the choice I'm making currently. One note on the push-and-hold is it's likely a response to safety concerns of accidentally pressing the wrong button while adjusting. The lack of the ambient lighting wrapping all the way around really does give a cheaper feel to it, so I agree with you 100 percent there.
Appreciate the comment, I was referring to my 2015 being a nice car with no issues. They really cheapened up the 2017 and stuck a higher price tag on it. If I were to buy one again I would go for a low mile 2015 and then have the radio module upgraded for Apple Play. The 2015 MY was the best year for these cars.
@@TheCarterHour i just bought a low mileage used 2014 impala ltz and love it... it has every option except wifi.. oh well i have unlimited wifi with my cell phone
Have you heard of the engine reducing power for this car? Mine shut off as I was driving 4 times , once last year and the other 3 between may-June mechanics don’t see anything wrong with the car especially because it randomly starts working again when the mechanic haven’t done anything to it
does the 2016 have the lights in the back seats or only the 2014 and 2015? Trying to decide which year to get and I definitely want the ambiet lighting in the back doors
Hi Robert, It feels like they tightened up the suspension a bit, and also made a more sporty type of luxury ride to me. Could be my imagination, however its hard to describe but it just feels even more in control.
Nice car! I’m actually in the market for a car now. My current lease is about to be up in July and I’ve been going back and fortune between the 18 Impala Premier 2LZ or the new 2019 Toyota Avalon Limited. The Impala looks better and it appears that it got more features for the money you pay. My only issue is, will the Impala last? I had a 2007 Impala LT and it gave my tons of problems around 100k miles. I plan on keeping this upcoming vehicle until the wheels fall off. Is the car really that durable?
Anything before 2012 was spotty at best by GM. I dumped my 06 3LT at 40k after 3 years and my 2012 LTZ was solid uptil about 115 til the fuel pump failed and fuel needle is acting up, causing me to run out of gas.
Hello again, I’ve watched this video like 5 times ! I love your input and the Impala a lot! In the spring it would be awesome to see a video of you waxing your new Impala! Just a thought. I waxed my 2012 Impala with this Turtle Wax Black Spray Wax. It really worked well, made my car look so much better! Have a wonderful night! Your videos are great 😀
The Carter Hour Hi I’ll say reliability has been average. I really think the quality of the service departments has been very poor! I had a oil change at a dealership and found out yesterday they spilled oil that got all underneath the plastic engine cover! It even got on the side of my battery! My car does have a huge hesitation if you slow down to around 15mph and then try to accelerate. It’s like the transmission doesn’t know what to do😐
Have you ever tried to use E-85 in your car? I am not sure what kind of climate you live in. Also you might want to have the transmission fluid flushed but only with Dextron VI. So many dealers try and sell you this garbage additive for your transmission now a days and most transmissions only work well if you use the factory specified fluid.
If you got the LTZ/Premier then you got the push button. Now if you got the LT L3 I believe you could get the keyless option as well, but not quite sure.
There is actually, still a key for the car. It is in case of a dead battery, or if the car gets confused and forgets who you are. The key is in the fob, not like the flip key. It is inserted into the body, and is released with the push of the button.
Hi, what transmission issues did you have with your 2012 Impala? Did it just completely fail? Just curious, what other issues did you have with your 2012 Impala?
Hey Jeff, I had the 6 speed automatic with mine, and what happened was when accelerating and I got to about 35 miles an hour it would feel like I was driving on ruble strips for a while. I don't remember what they told me was wrong with it exactly, something to do maybe valve body or solenoids within the valve body. Is yours having an issue?
Hello, I never have used E 85, just Regular 87 unleaded. I have had the transmission flushed about a month ago. Overall it seemed to shift better but not with the problem I was describing. I’ll keep a eye on it. I also have the 6 speed automatic. I’ve done also this month was a Coolant Flush, Spark Plugs changed and rear brake pads changed. Just trying to keep my car as long as I can. Thanks for your advice, have a great day. I live in MN.
Hey Jeff, looks like you share Michigan's climate. I would say check and see if the level of transmission fluid is topped up. I would also check to see if they put that BG garbage into the transmission with the flush. Did you have it flushed at a GM dealer, because I have found they also use this BG or some other flush additive that really causes problems. What kind of problems are you experiencing?
Hello, I did have my transmission flush done at a GM dealership. The problem existed before I had the transmission flush. I’m experiencing a rough shift when car is cold around 30 to 35 mph . Is this the torque converter shift? It couldn’t be going into 4th gear that early? The other problem is if you slow down to around 15mph and want to accelerate there’s a hesitation before you actually start to accelerate. My second problem is on a warm or cold engine. I appreciate you trying to help! Have a good one👍 My first problem is only when engine is cold, when it warms up it’s fine.
If you have a Android unfortunately you can't listen to music on WiFi you half to hook up the AUX cable which is ridiculous not everyone has a iPhone some people have Samsung Galaxy phone's , and this is a 2017 Impala which I own ,,
Congratulations on your new car! That is disappointing that the ambient lighting in the back seats is gone as well as the light below the door handle in the back. I really enjoy lighting in cars as well. I hope there isn’t a transmission issue with the car! I like the improvements that you also mentioned. I still have my 2012 Impala LT. I do like also the Midnight Edition on a these cars! Does yours have a rear spoiler? I think the Impala Premier is one of the best looking cars in the industry! Have a great night my friend 😀
Hey Jeff, The 2017 Model year was definitely a disappointment for sure, however in other realms they did fix what didn't work right on my 2015. My Impala doesn't have a spoiler. The midnight edition isn't a bad trim level, I am just more into chrome, haha. Hope all is well with you. :)
About to purchase a 2018 Chevrolet impala premiere does it have the ambient lighting in the back seats and do you have to press and hold the memory seat buttons?
I own a 17 Impala. I bought it used 1 year old. I am completely happy with it. It now has 26K on it and has not given me any problems. Smoothest and quietest car I've ever owned.

Update. I now have 52K on it and haven't had so much as a light bulb burn out.
I have a 2019 impala and I was wondering why there wasn't no ambient lighting in the back that was one of the reasons I bought this car im upset thanks for sharing that info I love the ambient lighting I also loves lights as well

My 2017 just turned 26k - bought it used and love it in 2022. Go to driver settings and select auto seat adjust OFF if you don't like it
Doesn’t help to complain because they’re discontinuing them anyhow

I ended up selling it and going with something else.
Hey, are you referring that the transmission in this 2017 model is better than the older one of the 2015 one?
No I never had any transmission issues with my 2015, only the 2017.

They put the memory button to push and hold in case sumone just pushes it once to not mess with it they made it a hold to know you are determined 👍
I was shocked when I drove a 2020 LT model that had NOTHING included. No heated seats nor steering wheel. I overheard that the 2015-2017 was the best of the best.
My 2015 was the best one I had. Only one thing it didn't have was the apple car play which I use the shit out of.....LOL
I really don't care about all the Minor cosmetic stuff but I like the sun roofs and the way the newer Impala's look

Nice Choice, you also have HD radio built in which they took away for the 2015 model year for the wifi. Glad you are enjoying it.
Only thing I don't like is I feel like the air vents on the drivers side don't really feel as powerful or hit me as directly as they should.
I believe the color is called. Fire engine tint red.

does the 2016 have the lights in the back seats or only the 2014 and 2015? Trying to decide which year to get and I definitely want the ambiet lighting in the back doors
2014 and 2015 came with that feature.
Yes there in the 2016
You said the ride was much better than the 2015. How so?
Hi Robert, It feels like they tightened up the suspension a bit, and also made a more sporty type of luxury ride to me. Could be my imagination, however its hard to describe but it just feels even more in control.

Ride is very nice, and I really like the car. Its very quiet, however I think either a Cadillac or a buick will have a much quieter ride. Cheers:)

Hey Jeff, Thanks for the Kudo's. How many miles do you have on your 2012 now?
I have 110 000 miles now. I drive around 20 000 miles a year. I bought this car July 2013 with 14 000 miles on it.
How has it been for reliability? I had approximately 50,000 on mine back in 2014 and that was from zero mileage, before the transmission went funky.
The Carter Hour Hi I’ll say reliability has been average. I really think the quality of the service departments has been very poor! Get an audi A7, and you can have all the ambien lights you want. Plus it changes colors. You get what you pay for.
its the same car why get a newer one
Where's the auto stop on the RPM meter??
Odysseus Tannehill only on 2.5L engines
No autostop on a 3.6L VVT V6 for now. Glad for that too, I absolutely despise the GM autostop.
The Carter Hour isnt it on the newer 3.6L in the lacrosse that has the cylinder deactivation too?
I am not quite sure on that.
3.6L?
Yep its a 3.6 L, I ended up selling it in 2018. I had a 2015 as well, and by far that was the best year for it.
Transmission goofs...If you look at the transmission ratios you can see the "problem". Big gap in lower gears...
