    Thank you for this video. I have an 2015 Chevy impala and it literally just stopped in the middle of me going up a hill. Other cars were behind me. I had to hurry and try to pull over. This sucks truly!!! My engine power reduced and stabilitrack signal came on. I sent my car to the dealership to get fixed. My car is doing exactly what yours is doing 🤦🏽‍♀️

    I’m dealing with this issue now. Everyone loves saying it’s the throttle body/maf sensor etc but it’s none of those. It’s your catalytic converters. Most likely the 3rd one going to the exhaust if you have a V6. If you don’t hear a rattle then your cats are still good but you need to take them off and deep clean them so they can breathe again. If you hear a rattle then your only options are to get a new one or simply delete it depending on the state you’re in. Also the cats on the impalas are known to crack and create huge vacuum leaks on the exhaust manifolds

    The problem located in fuel pedal sensor...you have to open the sensor box and and release the 3 pins and move the indicator to right side (start point) and then return the 3 pins back and close sensor box

    I have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about.
    I have a 2017 Impala Premier with the V6 and 15000 miles on it and it's runs like a Swiss watch from day one.
    Smooth, quiet, powerful responsive.
    I've been using BP 89 octane and switched over to Mobil 1 synthetic oil after the two free oil changes.
    The dealer told me I did not need an oil change I responded it's my car and I will change the oil whenever I want so they changed it.
    .
    Hopefully you guys straighten out your problems and I never encounter the problems you are having. Good Luck!

      Make sure you use a scanner and check the voltage between your AP and TPS, making sure as you accelerate one voltage decreases as one increases making sure they both agree, and then the opposite on deceleration. I am not sure if you will need access to a tech II or you will be able to use a regular scan tool. Could you share with me your code if you were able to obtain one?

  • @Tracon9er

    I'm having the same issue in my 2016 Malibu. I have to pull over and turn the car off, wait 3 to 5mins. then turn it back on and it drives normal. Mostly it happens on the highway and it's so random. This happened of course after my warranty ended. I cleaned out the throttle body, that didn't help. I been reading online that it could be the accelerator pedal. I may buy one and see if that will help.

    My 2016 Impala is currently in the dealer, the SERVICE Stabilitrak came across the screen and almost all the same lights are on, including the Service Electric Parking brake light. As soon as come to a stop light and stop, I can not take off. Then it keeps trying to clear itself. Will go a few miles and do it again. I keep having onstar run a diagnostics and it comes back to U0101 everytime. The dealer says the transmission control module is losing connection with the ECM. TCM=$1000. When I got in the car one morning the the lights were already on, I tried to put it in reverse and it slammed into gear. Went to drive and it would barely move. Ive been reading dirty encoder rings on wheel bearings could cause some of these issues too, because the speed sensor cannot read the wheel speed correctly.

    I think I'm starting to feel this in my 2015 impala LT which i bought a month ago with 68000 miles, i press the gas and it hesitates and loses power momentarily, but other times it engages and responds quickly
    I was starting to believe it was my imagination or just my driving. I got about 2 weeks left before the 60 day warranty expires and I own it. I dont have thousands of dollars to fix this problem if it gets worse, should I bring it back to the dealer, I run mid grade unleaded not sure if Its the gas or what the deal is.

    Oct. '21 Update:
    At 68,000 miles now. My 2015 Cranberry LTZ is still running STRONG. Mobil 1 for Oil-changes. ALWAYS......EVERY FILL-UP.....NO-Ethanol Top-Tier Premium.
    Still adding a 1/2-cup Seafoam to gas when there's a 1/4 tank. Also adding same amt to Engine-Oil about a week before an Oil-change.
    If anything......my baby is running even Stronger! Accelerates very well, maybe even better than a couple yrs ago, imo.
    Yes, still in the "My opinion" theme here......the key to MANY Engine-performance issues is FUEL. More specifically, LONG-TERM use of Top-Tier rated fuels. Combined with a good cleaner like Seafoam, the Fuel-system runs very well.
    My 23 yr-old Snowblower's Carburetor was clean as a whistle inside, using the same Fuel. Only difference.......CONTINUAL use of a 1/4-cup of SF in the 1G gas can.

    Is the high pressure fuel pump used because of direct injection? I've heard direct injected engines have all kinds of weird problems. And to my knowledge E85 shouldn't cause any problems in newer cars. I also find it ironic that Toyota and Honda manufacture the bulk of their cars in the US while GM and Ford have moved a lot of their production overseas. I'm guessing you aren't the only person having this issue with these cars. There should be some sort of class action lawsuit against GM for this BS. I totally understand your frustration and I hope you get this resolved.

    • @TheCarterHour
      @TheCarterHour  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, its the 3.6 L VVT Direct Injection Motor. This was a big selling point for me years ago when I was choosing between the Taurus and the Impala. The auto manufactures are subsidized by Big Oil, therefore they don't program or calibrate their engines with the efficiency that E85 could offer, plus I think they made this DI High Pressure fuel pump self destruct if you use E85 like I do over a period of time, since the car knows what type of fuel you are using by an alcohol sensor.

    I have a 2017 Malibu and it just did this today, has nearly 90k on it. I know Malibu and Impala are two different things, but the Malibu doesn't take E85. But Impala does? My buddies 2016 just did this and it was a gas pedal sensor of some kind.

    • @TheCarterHour
      @TheCarterHour  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep all Impala's since 2006 were able to accept flex fuel, except when they started putting 4 cylinder motors into the new body style in 2014. All V6 equipped Impala's however have always been flex. Did your friend have a 2014 Limited? That gas pedal sensor seemed to plaque the older body style since 09.

I'll sit at a stop sign and it won't move I have the gas mashed down to the floor and it creeps along and finally when it hits 20 miles an hour it acts like it's running just fine. Who do I talk to about a buy back because right now I'm at a minimum 7k into it 2 of the grand is in 3 weeks of car rentals I have to pay out of pocket so basically I'm going to work for free.

General Motors only needs to keep the politicians happy because they get bailed out. General Motors doesn’t have to care about the consumer they have to care about senators and representatives.

    • @TheCarterHour
      @TheCarterHour  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It solely depends are you looking for good acceleration? When I had my 2015 Impala LTZ I used crap gas (Our Everyday Pump Gas) in the winter and E-85 in the summer. When I would switch to E-85 after a few days and continuous use the acceleration got better. Now with my 2017 Impala I have been using E85 non stop, meaning its never seen a drop of Unleaded (Other than the gas it came with from the purchase), and the performance is incredible, and that is after I got my High Pressure Fuel Pump replaced. Very Responsive. Another thing I like about the E85, is the chrome tips where the exhaust comes out of the bumper have not blackened using E85.

  • @vamcmill

    Had this happen today in a 2015 LTZ that I just bought in July. they did say it was the high-pressure fuel pump and they are going to replace it today Under the certified preowned warranty but this is really frustrating because I saw the engine power reduced issue in my 2007 impala SS when the throttlebody messed up. I was hoping I would never see that message again in my life. I’m almost over GM completely. Should I continue to use flex fuel?

    My 2015 loaded LTZ (20" wheels too!) runs STRONG @ 46,000 miles!!
    I'm in Fargo ND. Gets COLD up here! One point: I NEVER use E85. NEVER. >>> I Always use Top-Tier Certified Premium, from Shell or Holiday. Why???? Moderately higher detergent levels relative to "standard grades". It DOES make a big difference over time!
    Also: Use Seafoam!!! Once a month, I put 1/3 of a bottle in our 3 cars tanks when they're at a 1/4-tank or less. My small-engines ALWAYS have some Seafoam added to the same gas.
    Why?! I've never had a fuel-related issue with any engine I've had. My 2008 LTZ (3.9L V6) also ran perfect. About 100 miles before an Oil-change, I add a1/2-cup of SF to the engine oil.

    I'm AMAZED at the volume of complaints here. As I've stated.....USE GOOD FUEL!!!! E85 is NOT very good fuel. Sure it's "renewable". That DOESN'T mean it's the best choice!
    READ your Owners-Manual, pages 9-54, 55, & 56. The first paragraph talks about Top-Tier class Fuel. E85 is NOT T-T!! There's also an interesting note in there about cold weather use of E85.
    Look it up people!
    My 2015 LTZ is just shy of 70,000 miles. Runs VERY well.
    WHY?!
    * The use of Top-Tier NO ETHANOL Premium is the KEY here.
    * Additionally..... Seafoam use once a month.

    What is your check engine light for? My first experience with limp homemode was in a vw gdi. All manufacturers have this to protect the engine, not you. However,blame the government and California. Look Ford had diesel trucks that 80 percent went over 250 thousandmiles before opening the front cover. I have a vw tdi with over 350 thousand miles andi have only performed routine maintenance and look what the government did to them with the scandal. People loved their tdi. Now Nissan will have a variable compresion engine for 2018. Lets see what problems they have all for emissions. Hardest problem, mechanics don't know how to repair what the engineers are making. Good luck with your car.

    • @TheCarterHour
      @TheCarterHour  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John, all very good points and I do agree. The auto manufacturers don't really have safety in mind anymore, but what they can stuff in their pockets at the end of the day. We all know that government has never been good at anything. VW TDI's are very reliable, unfortunately with the tree huggers we no longer have diesels that operate like they should. The car is at the dealership as we speak.

    My rental which I love so much 2018 Chevy Impala 3.7L Premier which I want to get as my 2nd car. I own right now 2015 Mustang Ecoboost suped up.
    And Impala is at now 15,200 miles , next oil change due at 16,200 miles. I’ve had it for 2mo when I got it was 11k but ya since I found out bout E85 gas which was about 3weeks age i started using it and ya a lot cheaper and a lot faster than 93 octane but ya I 1st noticed said stable track reduced power about 14,800 miles, when I got it obviously they said everything is fine I wanted to get the oil change around that time I took it to the shop they said plenty of time so I’m
    Sure they say that, I also took it to the shop try to get oil change sooner but won’t let me but they also see that and all said car is fine. I think it’s been saying that cuz needs a new oil change I dunno but ya I can’t even really drive it right now and it’s embarrassing u see a nice new expensive car like this and can’t get up more than 30mph now , and it like sputters when I accelerate. Also I noticed this morning when I press start it took forever kept sputtering than when I thought the engine was on no it wasn’t even turned on but the green light was completely on like engine is on n running. So that was weird and everytime I turn it on always pops up n ya annoying 😑. So I don’t think E85 gas has anything to do with it when these cars are made to accept that gas also did the car a lot better much smoothies drive and faster than if it was without it. But also other times when it said that I kept fighting with it and it was fine, some days it doesn’t even say that but I noticed in Manuel form no issues and drives fine without that popping up🤔so that’s strange.

Dexcool problems, heater elbows, security system would stop me from starting the car, intake manifolds, powersteering locking up, transmission all before 110k miles. GM makes straight trash. Unless you pay over 60k for an overpriced truck... they tend to make sure those are some what reliable, but hell I don’t want to risk buying anything GM again. Good luck bud. Sell that crap ASAP

    My 14 Impala just did the exact same thing this morning with no warning. I traded in my 13 Cruze FOR the Impala, as it TOO was doing the same thing. Not happy with GM at the moment.

    I totally understand I bought mines brand new in 2016 it was a 2lt fully loaded except the sunroof. It would shake when I came to a complete stop never knew what it was but it was irritating spending over 39,000 dollars and it was doing that. GM , Cadillac are all garbage vehicles. This was my third impala

    Sad but true, I refuse to buy new due to exactly what you said. I'll continue to buy used until further notice. These car companies shouldn't of been bailed out when government did shoulda let the companies go Bankrupt in my opinion. I seen several issues with cars new card just quit running out of the blue. And ether engine goes or more electrics are being crammed into cars, trucks,SUVs that shouldn't be there causing more problems and GM, Chrysler,Ford's, all the same anymore. I haven't seen a vehicle worth what there changing in a long time. Without problems galore. I have friend's that drive these newer cars, the companies and dealership can't figure out the issues nether pushing it off on the customers anymore I'm also done with GM,Chrysler's, Dodge,Ford's, ecedra. Next one will be a used one I own.

      I agree, great points. I think GM is headed for Bankruptcy Again in 2019. Just look at the leadership, its never been more unstable.

      IT'S not looking good for all maufatures are making vehicles faster than they can sell them off the Lots. when, the new vehicle depreciates 25% the moment you roll it off the lot, you take a loss instantly. I see a problem with that, there's no way you'll ever get the true vehicle value out of it anymore, as soon as it rolls off the lot. With used property you get at least a decent value out of it when you resell it. Like most people, I buy used, and hold on to it till it falls apart and then buy another one the term throw away cars. I called them "disposable Vehicles" it's all the same thing. Drive them around until they drop, fix minor issues outside of warranty cuz it don't exist after it's sold used as is your on your own. Fix it much as you can, then the final time they go kaput find another used vehicle and then send the other one to the junkyard. Shoot just the other day my Grandma's brand new Chevy Impala the door handle fell off LOL. all this stuff not supposed to happen to brand new vehicles either it's a quality control issue and yeah others are correct my next vehicle probably be a foreign vehicle I'm thinking of going Toyota or Honda myself. I'm going to steer clear of all the major manufacturers around here that includes Chrysler GM Ford all them on the bottom of my list now where are Toyota and Honda or at my top of the list looking for one first as of the beginning of next year when I have some money to find one I will after taking care of all my other business first got dept to to clear up. Fuck GM, comming from growing up GM fan all my life. I almost bought a renegade bit wised up and realized I'd never have enough income to afford the monthly payments and be stuck further in dept then it's worth it we are already far enough half under water barely afloat as is sucking fast.

    Get a new car if its problem after problem your spending about $3000 on the one car when you can get one for that amount and it will last for an age

    I have a 2014 impala ltz. Newer body style not the limited one and I regret buying it. It brakes down easily. Seems that the materials used on this car are terrible. My wife’s 2014 Cadillac is terrible also. I love gm designs but tired of there crappy cars. I’m going to toyota for future cars and trucks
