(COPS CALLED!!) (MUST WATCH!) Guy calls police on railfan for filming trains and looking on tracks!

  • Just For some brief information, After filming the union pacific manifest, a gentleman in a car Pulled off to the side of the road and turn down to the small trucking area, and asked what was going on and if I was OK, I assured him that everything was OK he had a quite worried expression on his face and went on his way, however whilst I was waiting for Amtrak 11, I Rode around town for a couple of minutes just to kill some time, when I noticed Dixon police flagging the nearby railroad crossings, I figured they were just checking them to make sure everything was OK for in the morning, boy was I wrong, little did I know in fact they were looking for me, once I returned to 113 The same police officer that I saw pulled off to chat with a lady that was walking on the tracks, I didn’t hear too much of the conversation but then he focused his attention to me, he pulled over switched on his lights got out and asked what was going on and I told him and then he said that they got a call from somebody that I was supposedly walking on the tracks, my guess it was that same guy who stopped to check if I was OK, I 100% appreciate everybody’s concern but I believe with a camera in and an app I think that will seal the deal that I’m not there to do something stupid, then again people are dumb enough to send a shopping cart barreling to a freight train for it to get destroyed I guess that’s one reason why I cut out a few portions of The police confrontation because I did have to tell the general area where I lived, and after showing him some footage of my past catches on that same day, I think he realize that it was not there to trespass or vandalize he double checked with his sergeant and all was well, and as I was leaving way after I shut off the camera (after Amtrak 11) I saw the same officer again and waved at him he waved back, So kids that are watching us don’t be stupid around railroad tracks because people will find you and they will contact the police, I was just lucky that I wasn’t doing anything stupid, Now trust me you’ve Probably seen some pretty stupid things on my channel, Video wise and stunt wise, But when it comes to railroad tracks I stay back and I don’t do anything stupid and haven’t in over 7 years, And yes I have changed my Ways since then, so for the kids again that are watching this please be careful on railroad tracks and please be careful while you were filming, and this goes for all railfanners.

    That happened to me exactly like 3 years ago in Carbondale, Illinois which is where I currently go to college. I’ve had incidents where not one but two police cars pulling up by me and asking me the same questions. They even told me that they got calls stating that I was ready to kill myself or something even though I wasn’t. I showed them my train footages and they eventually let me go. Luckily, the cops were very friendly just like seen in your video! I’ve also dealt with bad cops other times I go railfanning!

    i have the EXACTLY SAME story. so one day around i would say 11pm, my dad parked over by a pretty small csx facility, so i got out and crossed the street then went to the platform on the station across the street and a lady in i think a white suv rolled down her window and asked if i was ok. so i said yes and she might’ve either parked or drove away, so i went back to the car and then a few mins later, i saw a police officer get out of his car at the station and i thought maybe the lady called them and then a couple mins later, i was right. so he just talked to my dad and me and was checking on me to see if i was ok so we left after that and went home.
    also yes i had a flashlight

      Terrorist issues

    • @michaelmorgan7893
      @michaelmorgan7893 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Railfans have become targets of misdirected suspicion and retribution ever since 9/11
      A lot of it today is due to railroads cutting costs, and employees not wanting to get caught on camera either not doing their jobs, or doing something wrong, in the light of these recent derailment, etc.
      Some railfans can't help but film the bad conditions of the tracks when trains are operating, and from time to time, actually capture derailments on camera.
      Those are a few reasons railroad companies don't want any record of these things to be seen later.
      The last thing, is the hype created by mass media, where they promote the notion of a "terrorist" around every corner. This is false of course, but it's the age we live in. This isn't 1978.

    If you are a railfan that likes to watch, photo or video trains please do so from public property. Do not tresspass onto railroad property with out authorization additionally, be safe at all times. Keep in mind photography or video of trains is not illegal. In fact it's Constitutionally protected. Should a Deputy and Police Officer or Railroad Special Agent approach you if they ask if your OK and are say so. Keep in mind they are sworn law enforcement. Should they go further and demand ID with out stating probable cause or if they say suspicion decline ID. Suspicion is not a crime. Ask if you are breaking any law if the response is negative you are breaking no law. Keep in mind you are not obliged to help them investigate. Be respectful toward them at all times. However don't engage in friendly small talk, they are not your friends. A lot of LEO do not respect individual rights. Safe railfanning!

    I’ve had the cops called on me out on the San Diego Subdivision quite a few times. It’s is pretty annoying when it happens every time you go railfanning. It’s insanely ridiculous how many crybabies there are that live right near the tracks. Not all of them are. It’s those few that called the cops on my Tamarack Avenue video with the BNSF manifest during the day. That day was ridiculous on how many times people called them.

    Very nice video. You were cool to the cops and vice versa. I am an engineer with 29 yrs in. I hate to say it but, no, you didnt need to be standing on the tracks to prove that there was a gate malfunction. train coming or not. Just let the people figure it out. Other than that, good video.

      I'm constantly looking over my shoulder because there are so many damn Karen's out here that want to call cops on the most stupid things, but yet will cry when true criminals that rob stores, banks and people or carjackers, killers get arrested they will cry about how wrong it was for them to be arrested. I don't get it.

    nicest cop on the word, how ironic everyone talks about american cops being mean or whatever, one time I was trainspotting in germany at some point 2 security guards or something said "track too dangerous no go watch track" (not exactly that lmao) and like, bro, as a railfan I also know the danger of trains, especially those with 200mph on their wheels (usually, not where I was) soooo yea

    well I say this,that person that called on you was noisy and should have minded their own business,you was not breaking any laws or doing anything illegal,filming is actually a first amendment protected activity,its not against the law,it didn't need to take 3 officers to speak to you about anything,even though they were cordial,they had no reason to stop you unless you were committing a crime or breaking the law,but I am glad you did not get in trouble or go to ydc over stupid nonsense,you are very mature for your age and a well mannered young man.

    • @NC_YT_123
      @NC_YT_123  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the cause for them bringing out multiple officers is that there was a rookie and I guess they just had help nearby, Second I think somebody just called me and because I thought I was gonna commit suicide or something not for necessarily breaking the law, so they just sent it in some officers to come check in.

      @@NC_YT_123 that sergeant should of explained to his lower officer that filming trains is not against the law and you was not commiting a crime,it should of been a learning experience for all,not to make assumptions about someone or question you like a criminal,may be I am just over thinking things a bit dude,know your rights young man because when you get older,you may need them.

    As long as you’re not trespassing and minding your distance around the railroad tracks, then there’s no problem at all with railfanning. The police was doing their job to make sure that everything was ok.

I had cops show up 30 minutes before a NS train i was planning to catch was coming but they dipped 6 minutes before it rolled thru. for the reason: it was bc even tho we got perms by the PECO site director who was extremely friendly a security guard called pd on me and my friend, they also, gave us perm. they were nice but not like this or anything. btw to prove these guys (my situation not his) had nothing to do they literally brought the chief out.

      I should say the line runs right behind my uncle’s house and the crossing I was at had Safetran Model 85s which are quite rare. Mostly found in the eastern states. I guess next time I’m going to set up an ATCS monitor (if there is one for the CSX Crawfordsville sub). Then I will go out when there is a train near.

      As a bonus that day the line was apparently dormant because of track work. The trains are not high priority besides the Amtrak trains which run at 6 am and 11 pm.

    POLICE ONCE CONFRONTED ME FOR RECORDING A TRAIN
    It was in 2003.
    I was along a set of railroad tracks north of Denver in Adams County.
    One evening, I was filming a BNSF train with coal hoppers, then filmed an Amtrak (California Zephyer).
    As I was waiting for another train, two police cars pulled up, and the cops were fairly aggressing right off the bat.
    They started asking me questions left and right, took my camcorder away to view the tape (without my consent), and photographed me, contacted dispatch to run my ID.
    The reason? Somebody who lived nearby called the police and tattled on me.
    I stayed what I was doing is not illegal, I never trespassed, never interfered with anyone.
    The cops gave me the old lrctu: "Well, ever since September 11yh, we just can't be too carefull (yada, yada, yada....).
    They told me to leave and not to come back (to that area).
    They refused to return my videotape, said it "looks suspicious".
    Then said "Alright, today's your lucky day, get the F--k out of here".
