One thing to keep in mind when switching the barrels is the sight heights. The 229 in .40 uses a taller front sight than the .357Sig/9x19 which will change the POI. You can compensate with some Kentucky Elevation. The .40 cal P Series would be a #6/#8, where the .357Sig/9x19 uses #8/#8.
Mine is original 40 from 95 with #8 on both. It's actually dead on with 357sig and hits low with 40. Been meaning to just get LPA adjustable rear sight just haven't yet. You're right about Sig having multiple sight configuration
It may change elevation, but it shouldn’t have affected windage (he said “it’s so far to the right,”) it’s partly a skill issue let’s be honest. Double action isn’t for everybody 😂. Dry fire helps a crapton for double action.

You can simulate both resets on the trigger if you dry fire, keep the trigger pressed and rack the slide simulating the chambering of another round ,then you will be able to play with the 2 resets. Repeat as many times as you need too.

It's truly not complicated, and brilliant. The first trigger pull is double action, the 2nd is single action, you can fire, or release (decock) to double action. Folks really make it more complicated than necessary. The trigger pull is smooth and constant. It's a great platform.
It is not a great platform. That trigger is terrible, very heavy, and requires a lot of practice to develop a rhythm in order to be accurate. I carry this gun every day for 10 years now
@@randyschmidt19 You "SHOULD" be practicing and if 8 pounds is "very heavy" maybe you need to take vitamins. LOL. It's a very good trigger, easy to learn, while vastly reducing ADs and NDs due to the design, which decocks automatically when released. Unlike with light 3lb triggers on striker fired handguns, which have commonly reported ADs and NDs, the DAK (and LEM) triggers provide designs to benefit intentional discharges, while eliminating or making ADs/NDs very difficult/rare.

I have fired thousands and thousands of rounds through a 229. Loose the DAK and it's an awesome gun. When you have to make shots that count under pressure this gun takes work to be good with it. Maybe shooting at 5 to 10 yards you can be ok. Jump back to 25 yards under pressure you are not hitting a six inch plate. Probably not a 10 inch plate. I'm guessing you own one and feel some kind of way but the fact is that trigger sucks.

A famous example is the female cop standing over a proned-out suspect, shoots him in the head with her Glock (light trigger). "Glock leg" is a real issue. This trade-off is - in my view as someone that carries a DAK - it is a happy trade off. If you cannot hit a 6" or 10" object at 25 yards, it's not the trigger my friend. The real-world difference of the 6 or 8 pound DAK trigger, versus a typical 4-5lb Striker trigger, is not much, what maybe 3-4 pounds. Seems you just have a strength or health deficiency or some other problems if 3-4 pounds, UNDER STRESS, is just too much for you to overcome. People lose fine motor skills under stress, so the slightly heavier trigger is IDEAL UNDER STRESS to avoid accidental or negligent discharges.
I just converted a regular P229 from 357 Sig to 9mm and you have to change the slide also. The bolt face, extractor, and ejector are different. I called Sig direct and they got me straight.
I also stumbled on the p229. Havent gotten one yet ( cause gremlins keep killing my cars haha ) been looking at p226, p2022, but leaning towards p229. Whats the deal with the diffs in hammers. Some look like you can pull back manually, but the one u have looks like you cant manually pull it back. Is that the case? I def want the full hammer over the 320 striker fire. You’ll be wise to change out your recoil spring to a 9mm spring with the 9mm barrel. Also, you’ll want to run 9mm mags for 100% functioning, although you can use the .40/.357 mags for range use. I went ahead and bought the complete 9mm slide for my 226 & 229. Awesome gun, three potential calibers!

You do all that foot rocking dance in a real fight and you’ll be on the ground before you even get to prepping the trigger. Habits kill you and habits save you. You pick which ones you adopt.

You can also rack the slide pull the trigger then hold it. Rack the slide again then you can feel the DAK.

I have a p229 compact chambered in .357 sig and it gives my colt mk iv series 80 government model a run for its money grouping wise.

I wish they can add a de-corker with a DAK . I have a 357 but sent it back to change it to sa/da w a de-corker just like my p226

That is pretty heavy. The more I shoot it, the more I like it. Not my favorite, but I certainly don't hate it
The straight double action you’d think would be lousy, but I have a 226 with DAO (no DAK) and it is honestly an awesome trigger, so smooth
