BRAND NEW Traxxas XRT in the sand - 1st run

- Cody and our daughter Sarah (behind the camera with a stuffy nose) took this brand new Traxxas XRT to the sand dunes. In Florence behind the grocery store, there's a patch of sand with some really nice dunes in. Went through 2 battery packs before losing a bolt. Oh Well. That's what we get for not doing some quality control checking before heading out. Always check your bolts. So many cars come in the shop with something broken and I'm always pointing out the hinge pins that are hanging halfway out that no one noticed.
This love child of the Sledge and Xmaxx is phenomenal. I know we all said when the Sledge came out, "We wanted a 1/5th scale!" and now we have one. Such a great job on this design by Traxxas.

Just pre ordered one. Probably will run it stock for the winter, then put a max5 in it before summer.

This is the 4th video I watched were someone broke the front bulkhead on their first run.
The front bulkhead is just fine, an upper hinge pin just fell out. It was an easy fix.

Jennys rc is the way to do it ..they don't have it yet tho....never put Traxxas electronics in it...
Just finishing xmaxx that way didn’t save a dime but it’s the way I wanted it & givn the parts are all available would chose my build over factory any day have started a redcat landslide xte also & that will deff coast more than the new price of $259 ya that kinda hurts when u add it up & should have just bought it & tore it down but halfway into it now😢 good luck do your research because every part can b found cheaper somewhere!!!

That’s so cool! It has a lot of similarities to the xmaxx. I’m hinge pinning all the arms. It has some weak points similar to the x Maxx. But damb! Great video Brother!!!👊🤘🏆🍻
Agreed. I’ve been hoping for a update to the arms for almost 6 years. It bum s me out they made this and didn’t do bolts like the sledge. All well guess it s how it goes

@@RCNuts that says a lot. I was excited when I saw the drop not knowing exactly what it was then I was bummed when I did not see the hinge pin upgrade, but I’m actually kinda of excited as in might purchase after awhile to see what it’s capable of from guys such as yourself. Awesome session man!

This is one amazing rc and definitely worth the money!
I wouldn't really expect you to be able to Full Throttle this 20 lb machine for 10 to 15 minutes straight at a time without the motor getting pretty hot
if you finger still on it its not to hot ;) at finger 50°c feel like burn for human body but motor works fine on 80°c , you in the sand also big straight line a lot on trhottle that also increas heat :)

My Sledge overheats after 10-15 minutes of use in 75 deg temps. Or at least the ESC's overtemp light comes on and it goes into limp mode. I may replace it with a MAX 8 (6S) ESC in the near future. I like that this thing has the cooling ducts and extra fans.
Check your drive lines and make sure there isn't anything rubbing or causing friction. More importantly check the weight of your tires, if you didn't seal up those 2 holes on the inside of your rims, they get filled up with stuff and the extra rotating mass can ruin a lot.
Yeah being in the sand under constant load it will as you know raise your temps. I think like all Traxxas it’s gearing and electronic capabilities are rite we’re they need to be for overall fun . When people do something for a living l have a tendency to think they know what they are doing 😂👍🏼🥃💯💯🔥. Yup lm a stockish guy💪🏻👍🏼

No, not unless you can speak the local lingo and know someone. I’m not actually sure but every time I go there I always get treated like a tourist
We moved up here 8 years ago from Phoenix, AZ. Yes, we did get some crap from a few people, but they were the type of people we didn't want to be friends with. But then you get know more people and everyone is super nice.

Second set of batts wtf so what’s the verdict cvd sloped out when a-arm broke this looks a lot like xmaxx but longer that’s clear fact that even top end $1000 traxxas has their weak point & it doesn’t mater it’s probly not going to b expensive to fix either if it was a newbie they would b slamming traxxas rn great vid bro really did this truck justice !!!! Just been having pin problems. The pins have been coming out and the screws holding them in are just gone. I'm not the only one, a few have come back in the shop with loosing the same pins. None of the locals, or myself, have actually broken anything on it.

First, running in sand (ie. making the ESC & motor work 'harder') WILL cause electronics to get hot.
When I first heard about the XRT, I realized I had a tough decision to make. I have an X-MAXX, and 8 know 'converting' it to an XRT isn't realistic (although it's 'based' on the X-MAXX, the XRT and current X-MAXX actually share very few parts). Btw, that last part being said, I do have a feeling that an "X-MAXX V2" is coming in the near-future, and will be produced using many of the same parts found in the XRT. I also know 8 can neither afford to have both, nor do I have the room for both (my RC 'garage' is already quite large, with cars, trucks, & boats, plus a drone, and a helicopter). So, what to do, what to do........
So, I did the (not-so) 'logical' thing...I finally purchased the Sledge I've been collecting upgrade parts for (yup, already purchased all needed upgrades, including the M2C chassis, before having purchased the Sledge). Problem 'solved'. 🤙🏼
Maybe someday you'll get one.
@@RCNuts Just me you an "interesting" question...but, before I do, I'll add a lil info. Among the land vehicles I have, the 'garage' includes an X-MAXX, Sledge, Limitless, and Rustler (which, in its current configuration, very much resembles a smaller version of the XRT, right down to the tires)...all of which are upgraded, or (in the case of the Sledge) soon to be upgraded. So, do you really think I 'need' an XRT? 😉
Was thinking there be more bounce when landing with the smaller shocks and springs. Wonder what fluid and plunger is in there.
Very stiff springs and thick shock fluid, the shocks are set up amazing!
Of course it broke😂umm guys do you not remember seeing everyone having problems with these wide arms on the xmaxx?fyi this chassis is going to snap on big sends just like the xmaxx.don’t worry m2c will make an additional 500 in upgrades to make it usable
I hate the wide maxx kit on the xmaxx, it makes it handle like garbage. But on the XRT, it's AWESOME. The low center of gravity chassis and the shorter shocks make it handle great. Drive an Xmaxx, then drive an XRT, the handling is night and day, the XRT is the new #1.
Broken, I have an erevo that I baby and it spends most of its life broken. The ESCs did randomly...
I’m surprised how well those tires seem to hook up in the sand! I’ve got an arrma Kraton 6s I wish there were a 1/8th scale version of them so bad. Does anyone know where I could find similar type tread tires for 1/8 scale?

Yep, the pin just fell out. I've replaced with the xmaxx captured rpm pins.

You sure? It's defined been updated and has a lot more power than the stock xmaxx! Check the specs of the car, and you'll see it's been updated🙃😉

I'll stick to the sand😉 I moved to the dunes because I LOVE THEM! I understand there's more maintenance on the RCs, but I'm more than ok with that🙃 I'm sure golf courses are a lot of fun too!
