12:20 is the break. Around twenty years ago I was playing pool at a friend’s house, in his basement. On my second break of the night, the cue flew up in the air several feet and split in half, almost dead middle. The top half flew past my friend’s head and the bottom half hovered in the air for a split second. It landed on the middle of the table and spun, just like a top, for what seemed like a minute but was at least 20 seconds or more. I’ve been playing pool for over 40 years and have never seen anything like that before and haven’t since. He doesn’t have that table anymore but the cue ball is still down there on his shelf.
Playing a tie-breaker in a tournament many moons ago, my opponent broke, after striking the 1-ball, the cueball went straight up, shattered the stained glass light above the table, came down and landed on the 8-ball (which had pretty much stayed stationary until then) and, despite the debris that was falling on the table, sank it in the side pocket. I conceded the game and yelled, "Cleanup, table seven!" 😏
I learned very quickly that I shouldn't break at an angle as I had a knack for launching the queball after contacting the first ball and people in the bar I used to play in quickly learned to avoid 1 particular bar stool as that is where the queball would land every time after the first nutshot no one would sit in that stool when I broke at an angle and let's just say that guy drank alot that night as I bought all of his beers the rest of the night
@@spike3082 Similar thing way back as a teen; I was breaking off. I'm a regular pool player so I've always wondered what it would be like to have a REAL Cannon Break! Nice Job Great video!
Dans cheeky wink makes that last shot the best!😂
After 12 years you'd think Gav and Dan would start running out of ideas, but nope. Its just banger after banger. Love this channel! great video!
Dan's "Oh oh Oh!!" At 11:15 is officially my new favorite Daniel Gruchy moment and cements this in my top 3 favorite SMG videos
That wink on the break is why my heart cannot wait for another episode. Good clean fun gents, thank you!
10:58 the way both of them walk in sync is satisfying
That final edit was so beautiful Gavin. It's honestly my favorite thing this channel has ever produced in all my years watching.
I think so too. It was perfectly integrated with the money shot and the end result is crazy.
Thank you
Okay that was crazy 🤣
try to one up this one 🤣
well. of course you would be here.
Jesus Christ is the propitiation for the whole world's sins. They that believeth and are baptized (with the Holy Spirit) shall be saved; but they that believeth not shall be damned. Those led by the Holy Spirit do not abide in wickedness.
*God is ONE manifesting himself as THREE;* the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Bless him! *For these three are one.*
As I am led by the Holy Spirit, nothing I state is a lie, but the truth of God. Anyone who tells you differently is misinformed or a liar. They do not know God, nor led by him.
Anyone who *claims* to be a Christian and is against what I am doing, and where I am doing it; the Holy Spirit does not dwell within them, they lack understanding. They know not God, read his word, and their religion is in vain. Do not hear them, they will mislead you, the lost cannot guide the lost.
The wink and the cut is perfect 👌🤣
These lads are just so charming, and their filmmaking is honestly superb. Always have a great time watching them do something silly.
12:36 - Gav's face says it all...and I think we can all relate to that expression/feeling seeing the amazing slow-mo. Great shot.
🐐
A mate, that wasn't part of the game, was sat on a bench the other end of the table, legs akimbo, chatting up a girl as he always did. This was one of the coolest, best looking guys in school btw. Anyway, I accidentally chipped it over the pack and got him right in the taters just as he tried to catch it at the last split second! Everyone in the bar was in tears, esp the lad that copped it. lol
I have missed you guys, I was going through all your material up until 2020 and then pandemic, y'all kind of vanished and life moved on. 3 years later and I found your channel again as it was recommended to me. Miss watching your videos! Glad to be back watching again, as if nothing ever happened.
I’m so grateful that this channel keeps on delivering absolutely fantastic videos
I love how they still are so excited about stuff, after years and years of doing this.
or they just know that is what makes an interesting video and their income depends on making interesting videos.
@@justforever96 that is very true, some people dont find the things they do for years fun anymore, these guys still have fun
@@justforever96 Ive been doing the same job for 15 yearsand its still fun and exciting . They fire things at things and play with cameras for a living. I think i Would be pretty excited for all the things at things bit of my job if my job involved things like the things here.
Hey SlowMoGuys, hope you have a good day, you just made mine better!
@Don't read profile photo oops. sry.
That might be the coolest footage I've ever seen.
Love the video! This is actually a great demonstration of how spaced armour, whipple shields or the crumple zone of a car works. First interaction is devestating, but takes so much energy from the colision that even though the other balls get knocked about they all survive completely intact.
Shout out to these guys for showing how beautiful the world looks in slow mo.😀😄
12:23 das sind ja absolut fabelhafte Aufnahmen. Danke! Wow
It's crazy that after, what, 12 years? Y'all are still here making better videos than ever (this might be my favorite one and I've been watching since Gavin's can dive for the first RTX), and you're still getting millions and millions of views. The internet does not like longevity, but The Slow Mo Guys have proven to be one of the few exceptions. Couldn't be happier.
ok
Thank you for that ending shot. You guys never disappoint.
That was an awesome hit. Couldn’t have made it better dead center. Watching that ball shatter was so cool.
Your chemistry and entertainment is amazing! Thanks
This channel NEVER disappoints. Amazing footage, but the sheer joy these two have for their craft is what keeps bringing me back.
Always a fan of when Dan gets to use his explosives know how
I did not know he was an explosives expert
@@pandoratheclay he was an explosives and weapons expert in the British Army :)
Thank you Dan and Gav for carrying TH-cam for more than a decade :’)
Elevating nerddom to the an impossible level to match. I'm insanely jealous.
That is, hands down, one of the most perfect, satisfying and entertaining videos I have ever seen. Thank you Dan and Gav
Also- the filming quality of these guys is unmatched
I agree.
The last couple seconds with Dan getting ready to break and giving that little wink, then cutting to the shot where all the balls start exploding is epic!
I'm glad they made and added that edit😂
That focus pull, too!
Wow this is one of the best videos you ever did
Well done such unbelievable footage
yeah there's not much these days that genuinely makes my jaw drop but this was stunning from start to finish.
Agreed!
The filming quality of these guys is just unmatched
What I love abt deze is how they’ve been doin slow mo’s for years and still tend to surprise us as well as dem selves
I love how Dan used the miniature pool cue as the ram for the cannon, so he's technically still using the cue to break, just instead of a bridge, he's got a cannon for the assist.
How about firing the cue out of the cannon to make the break ?
That was such a pure, distilled "Guy" moment, seeing them walking around in awe at the pool table aftermath, gawking at the destruction, only for them to be absolutely amazed to an even higher degree at noticing 2 balls went in.
I was thinking of that edit before I'd even seen the first shot, I'm so glad they did that, it looked awesome.
That has to be one of the most impressive shots Slow Mo Guys have ever done.
This is Incredible!!! Flying particle from canon look like as space meteors in the night sky. Cool material for watching! Thanks you!
I just love that deep in Slow Mo Guys lore, Dan is a weapons expert who can hit anything with anything.
Dan actually is a demolitions expert... He served in the British Army as one.
@@alexgriffith-turtle5261 and not much has changed except the job title
and he dug from england all the way to vegas before retreading the tunnel back to gavins backyard
I just love it so much when the slow mo guys upload. these guys are specifically iconic and unique to TH-cam.
Everything about this video was superb. From the natural humor in the beginning through the fantastic aiming and camera work to the sinking of the black ball. Just awesome fun to watch.
I've been rewatching a ton of Slo Mo Guys videos, and it is honestly very nice to see these shots again, even though I watched them not so long ago
I love the fact that dan uses a pool cue to push the ball into the cannon. Its like some sort of crazy foreshadowing for the cue ball.
they should do a follow up where they shoot a ball at a pool cue. that way we would see what would happen if dan could hit a ball that fast.
That final clip with the wink was worth the wait since they joked about it. Beautiful.
I love how you’re more fascinated by 2 pots rather than you annihilating 2 balls 😂
In my opinion, 2 pots are more fascinating than 1 pot, and much better than -2 balls.
Well, the annihilation was predictable. To think that they would be able to pot two balls with a 400Mh cue ball was not. So is legit.
ball breaking isn't something everyone likes
except for some people
@@alessandromerelli7221 well, they potted two balls because the table is way off level towards that pocket. I'm very impressed with the solid contact on the break with a cannon lol
ok
I keep rewatching your videos. They never get old! Great job, guys! Seriously, great job!
Final clip is beautiful
The cut is impecable since the sun’s setting on the first one; and there was full light on the second one, but the explosion gives it the colors needed for it to blend together
You guys are amazing. Cheers! Never stop making your content.
Its always a treat when both of your passions line up for videos like this. Awesome video guys.
I LOVE the sound it makes when slow-mo is activated!
Watching the dragonflies dodge the ball was pretty impressive
ok
timestamp is 6:28 for anyone who wants it
It's blown away by the shock wave around the ball. I doubt it has such fast reaction time.
@@abdusco i mean they prob would be able dodge it but ok...
@@abdusco you must not know much about the jetfighters of the insect world
