- Welcome back, in today's video I show you how to delete the fan pulley aka Idler pulley on a vq35de. this little mod really makes it more responsive in terms of torque, i just cut off the end of the idle pulley housing as a spacer and it worked no problem

If youre not near a dealer you can always hacksaw off the end of the existing bracket instead of buying spacer! Great video

Thank god for your channel. I hear a grinding noise and after taking my belt off and running each pulley, I've located that it was that exact idler pulley making the noise. I've been looking for replacement and after watching your video, but since I have a 2006 G35, I decided to just delete it.

This mod by itself will not do “much” but dyno wise. But a combination or free up hp mods + bolt ons add up.

It does get rid of a useless pulley though 😉. Mine was squealing baaaaad so I just took it out and tossed it lol

You have to get a new belt.
I get the belt for the 2008 Infiniti FX & it works perfect.

Great video! Well done...just have one suggestion...for us poor boys out there. Just use an angle grinder to cut the "leg" off the idler pulley, and reinstall. After all, you will not need this assembly again, and you can save $20 on a 30 cent bushing. Buy the new belt, cut the bush off the original assembly...done. or spend $115 on the "delete kit".
Yup that works also but looks ugly in my opinion 5 bucks for the spacer at nissan I'd say it's worth getting it since it looks cleaner

Just came back to give my feedback after seeing this video yesterday and doing it to my 2006 350z i used the correct infiniti fx35 2008 belt just like he said, my cars working perfectly i did notice a litttle bit of acceleration improvement and also noticed that it made my exhuast a little quieter (but maybe thats just my car it has a few problems) overall i liked it and it was simple the spacer i couldnt find at oriellys the replacemnt belt was $24.99 and i used a regular nutalmost the size instead of the spacer worked out fine thanks man good video.

whats the bottom idler pulley (one left of crankshaft) part number mine literally flew off while driving lol...
Instead of buying the spacer you could also just cut the tab off of the idler bracket and use that.

I searched on autozone for a 2008 infinity fx35 2wd and can only find part number 4060450. It’s a 45 inch belt. Is that the right one? Other belts that I search up are 45.08 inches 🤷🏻♂️

I believe they only have one belt so this wouldn't apply to the G37 or vq35hrs
What does removing the idler pulley accomplish apart from removing the slight weight? can it harm any other components or not?
This was later removed from the factory on 2008 fx35 with the 3.5 DE so no you shouldn't run into any issues

My clutch fan sounds like a loud ass airplane when i drive it. Sometimes it goes away and sounds normal like a G should!! Lately it has not gone away!

yeah you should although you probably will need to add wiring and a relay to make it work properly.

About 30 min sounds accurate if you have done it before Mabel 1 hour if not

What is the size of the bolts that the pulley had that was connected to the bracket
The big long bolts are 17mm the small ones on the pulley are 10mm. The other one by the power steering pump is 14mm
How you know the belt has proper tension after putting back?? Like how tight it has to be?
If you can twist the belt after your done it's too lose use your finger to feel if it's firm

hey i did the pulley delete right n for some reason my tensioner is tightening all the way up n my belt still have so much slack i bought the belt of an 08 fx35

you can reuse the compressor belt but the power steering belt needs to be switched out because your removing the pulley
I ordered the standard belts for my 2005 G-35, if I remove this pulley will the standard belt for my car work, or do I have to find a shorter belt. If so which belt do I get cause I have one that’s supposed to ship tomorrow.

My G has developed a squeal on startup. Mechanic says its a $300 job to replace the idler pulley. Doing this would be another option??

Ah yes, the maxima does not have an idler pully separate from the tentioner. In the past I had a 96 Maxima with the VQ30, still familiarizing myself with the VQ35.

I don't think it's sold separately you might need to buy the whole tensioner

No you can't its about 2 inches shorter get a 2008 infiniti m35 alternator belt and it will be the correct size

Yes this won't work for you unfortunately

No becuase you probably have a mechanical fan deleting this will make your vehicle over heat becuase your also going to delete the fan

Good video but that Nissan spacer is a rip-off. Just cut the tab off your pulley. Also the flat cut makes it much easier to tap into place.

How do you replace the fan
just did it yesterday you need to remove the air intake and take off the big hose to the radiator as well as take the cap off so make sure your car has cooled off at least an hour. then there’s just two bolts and it slides up n out after the two connectors are disconnected

this mod has no cons its gets rid of 1 pound of rotating mass and cleans up the engine bay other than that I can't say it has other benefits because I couldn't notice it.

start from the crankshaft and move your way up the pulleys

I got a 6k1165 and it worked. Its dayco brand. Maybe they run smaller bc it worked. So far
