I hope you guys are having a awesome day today! If you have a G35 or a 350z this little modification is a must if your going to replace your drive belts!
this little mod really makes it more responsive in terms of torque, i just cut off the end of the idle pulley housing as a spacer and it worked no problem
Dude, just wanted to say, usually im a negative person and see all the flaws in people, but man. Your simple approach and explanations are perfect! Keep up the good work!
This pully has been making all kinds of noise on my car and I was wondering what it did. Thanks for the info. I'm taking it off and it's going in the trash
Same bro!!! Im not sure if its this exact pulley but i have an idea that it is or the crank pulley either way tomorrow im taking this badboy off and i will find out haha i hope its the one making the noise!
Thank god for your channel. I hear a grinding noise and after taking my belt off and running each pulley, I've located that it was that exact idler pulley making the noise. I've been looking for replacement and after watching your video, but since I have a 2006 G35, I decided to just delete it.
Great video! Well done...just have one suggestion...for us poor boys out there. Just use an angle grinder to cut the "leg" off the idler pulley, and reinstall. After all, you will not need this assembly again, and you can save $20 on a 30 cent bushing. Buy the new belt, cut the bush off the original assembly...done. or spend $115 on the "delete kit".
Just came back to give my feedback after seeing this video yesterday and doing it to my 2006 350z i used the correct infiniti fx35 2008 belt just like he said, my cars working perfectly i did notice a litttle bit of acceleration improvement and also noticed that it made my exhuast a little quieter (but maybe thats just my car it has a few problems) overall i liked it and it was simple the spacer i couldnt find at oriellys the replacemnt belt was $24.99 and i used a regular nutalmost the size instead of the spacer worked out fine thanks man good video.
I searched on autozone for a 2008 infinity fx35 2wd and can only find part number 4060450. It’s a 45 inch belt. Is that the right one? Other belts that I search up are 45.08 inches 🤷🏻♂️

Bro! Do u happen to know the part number for that first tensioner bolt u removed that goes behind the pulley u removed? I’ve been trying to find one since mine is missing and I’ve had no luck! Thanks!
I ordered the standard belts for my 2005 G-35, if I remove this pulley will the standard belt for my car work, or do I have to find a shorter belt. If so which belt do I get cause I have one that’s supposed to ship tomorrow.
hey i did the pulley delete right n for some reason my tensioner is tightening all the way up n my belt still have so much slack i bought the belt of an 08 fx35

ERICSDIYGARAGE Ah yes, the maxima does not have an idler pully separate from the tentioner. In the past I had a 96 Maxima with the VQ30, still familiarizing myself with the VQ35.
just did it yesterday you need to remove the air intake and take off the big hose to the radiator as well as take the cap off so make sure your car has cooled off at least an hour. then there’s just two bolts and it slides up n out after the two connectors are disconnected
this mod has no cons its gets rid of 1 pound of rotating mass and cleans up the engine bay other than that I can't say it has other benefits because I couldn't notice it.
Huh??? Why are you doing this? To save one pound? Seriously??? It's an idler. It's on a bearing. It's practically frictionless. There is no horsepower savings here. Just wasted parts. Engineer.
Still has friction and maybe there isn't much gain but a gain at the least. You dont see drag cars with a idle pulley do you? His car, his mod. Go make try to make yourself relevant somewhere else. -Mechanic/Tech

I was thinking the same thing as I was watching the vid. I like to reuse whenever I can.
Did you use same belt?? Or what belt did you use after?
Good idea! I was thinking of making something out of a big enough nut, but your idea is much easier!
If youre not near a dealer you can always hacksaw off the end of the existing bracket instead of buying spacer! Great video
yup you can also do that 👍
Or you can buy the space from Z1 Motorsports online for like $6 like I did lol. u get it QUICK too.
Nice video. Clear visually and verbally. Thank you. I was reluctant to this in the past but your video shows that there’s not much to it!

Yup that works also but looks ugly in my opinion 5 bucks for the spacer at nissan I'd say it's worth getting it since it looks cleaner
This mod by itself will not do “much” but dyno wise. But a combination or free up hp mods + bolt ons add up.

Dang, my 2003 G35 has a fan clutch. Worth doing an electric fan swap?
What does removing the idler pulley accomplish apart from removing the slight weight? can it harm any other components or not?
This was later removed from the factory on 2008 fx35 with the 3.5 DE so no you shouldn't run into any issues
It would be cool in that same location have an micro supercharger.
Can someone please provide the part number for the shorter belts - we do not get the fx35 in South Africa

Yes it will work on your vehicle also
Do some light weight pulleys
I was thinking about it but I've read bad things about light weight pulleys on these vehicles
ERICSDIYGARAGE the only one I wouldn’t mess with is the crank pulley or do a super dampener
Mine has one electric fan
... if I delete that clutch fan should I install a dual electric fan?
yeah you should although you probably will need to add wiring and a relay to make it work properly.
ERICSDIYGARAGE okay thanks for the free back
I’ve literally never seen a 350z or g35 with a clutch fan. I have an 04 and it has factory electric fans.
it's on early 2003 sedan models
hey do you have to get a smaller belt or is that stock size
yes you need a new belt the part number is in the video
What is the size of the bolts that the pulley had that was connected to the bracket
The big long bolts are 17mm the small ones on the pulley are 10mm. The other one by the power steering pump is 14mm

How you know the belt has proper tension after putting back?? Like how tight it has to be?
