Why Kirby is GARBAGE in Melee, and how he changed in Project M

- Kirby has always been seen in Super Smash Bros Melee, as being a low tier character. Never really succeeding that well in the meta due to many flaws the character has. Whether its his stubby limbs, lack of consistent KO moves, and just overall not competeing well with the fast paced environment of the Melee meta. Kirby has also been heavily outshinned by characters like Jigglypuff who do what Kirby is trying to do gameplan wise, but just way better. Kirby was mostly buffed during the transition to Project M/Project Plus, but he still lands in the lower tiers even in that game, despite all the buffs.

my roommate has never gone to a tournament and legit destroys me with kirby in P+. it hurts
i just woke up with this idea for kirby, change his copy abilites to the way they work in his game: if he suck up mario or bowser , make him fire kirby, olimar make him UFO kirby . if he sucks up a link or and FE character make him sword kirby. etc

@@pokeblueblur5755 It was multi hit in brawl and smash 4. They clearly changed it because his flaming tackle dash attack, even as it was more loyal to the universe he belonged to, was worse than the multi hit kick, at least in melee before they changed it back in ultimate

Kirby's combo game ain't that bad and I really think him being garbage is overplayed but, so be it.
Yeah I completely agree, this video is extremely hyperbolic, and it kinda just reiterated a lot of the most common talking points. No character is truly that unusable in melee, and Captain Pretzel has been making it work with Kirby.
It has potential but I wouldn't call his combos the worst in the game.
No, Kirby’s combo game in melee is the worst by far. No solid finishers, too much low air speed to connect with any moves. There’s only like 3 combos that all start with up tilt His kit is just to weird and unfitting to combo with. Sure, PM and P+ really did improve a lot of his kill options and mid combos, but still one of the least combo characters to ever exist in fgc.
Did you accidentally go to 64 Kirby because for your information the only Kirby throws that work are bad combo tools his up tilt leads into like one follow up also even if he had a good combo game he wouldn’t be good because of his bad approach tools hella slow speed very light weight and weak kill options

There’s nothing Kirby has the puff doesn’t except for the knee that is Kirby up air but in the context of her kit puff air is also rly good bc it combos into rest

Yes, but project m is still being played to this day. They didn't shut down the game. They shut down development of it. People get those concepts backwards because they think development=game even though it clearly isn't. MK11 is still being played to this day and it's no longer being updated, but that doesn't mean it was shut down.
